Ever the victim, no matter what. “Accused 9/11 mastermind pens letter to Obama on ‘Muslim oppression,’” by Douglas Ernst, The Washington Times, August 15, 2014:
The man accused of masterminding the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks has penned a letter for President Obama. Now, Khalid Sheik Mohammed is looking for a way to get his message from Guantanamo Navy Base, Cuba to the White House.
David Nevin, the defense attorney for the al Qaeda member, confirmed the existence of the letter on Thursday, the Miami Herald reported. While the letter primarily deals with “Muslim oppression at the hands of the West,” Mohammed also discusses issues like post-war Iraq, Gaza, and same-sex marriage. The alleged murderer also quotes Richard Nixon and the Bible, the paper reported.
Mohammed, who has been in custody since 2003, is charged with four other alleged terrorists for the deaths of 2,976 individuals on Sept. 11, 2001. He is currently being held in a secret prison referred to as Camp 7. The information he is allowed to share with the outside world is “carefully managed,” chief war crimes prosecutor, Army Brig. Gen. Mark Martins, said Thursday, the Herald reported.
“Those restrictions balance very important concerns of security, fairness, access to counsel,” Gen. Martins added.
