Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

CNN host stunned when Muslim cleric makes 9/11 joke during soundcheck

Aug 31, 2014 4:51 pm By Robert Spencer

choudry-screen-capture-615x345CNN thinks a debate between Jew-haters Reza Aslan and Peter Beinart offers balanced insight into the conflict between Israel and the “Palestinian” jihadis, and would rather take the gaspipe than give a fair platform to a counter-jihadist, but they have no problem featuring this pro-jihad Muslim cleric who gleefully celebrates the 9/11 jihad mass murders. They even ask him why he deigned to give an interview to those horrible conservatives at Fox: “’Why would you agree to go on a show like [Hannity]?’ Stelter asked” — with the obvious subtext being, “Why didn’t you just come here, to jihad terror-friendly CNN?”

The video is here.

“CNN host stunned when radical Muslim cleric makes 9/11 joke during soundcheck,” by Scott Kaufman, CNN, August 31, 2014 (thanks to all who sent this in):

On CNN’s Reliable Sources this morning, host Brian Stelter spoke with radical Muslim cleric Anjam Choudary, who last week got into a fifteen minute-long shouting match with Fox News commentator Sean Hannity.

“Why would you agree to go on a show like [Hannity]?” Stelter asked.

“I don’t believe there’s any platform that shouldn’t be utilized to spread the message of Islam,” Choudary replied. “I know Sean Hannity’s going to interrupt, that he has been rude to some of his guests. But in between that, I can try to spread the message of Islam.”

“At the end of the day,” he continued, “I believe the truth will prevail, and as you can see by the reaction on social media that I won that debate, and that people are listening to what I actually said, and not what Sean Hannity said.”

“I believe that the Shariah is the best way of life,” he also said. “I believe that one day Shariah will come to America and the rest of the world.”

“What I wonder,” Stelter asked, “is aren’t you abusing the press freedoms you would like to see eliminated under Shariah law?”

“No,” Choudary replied. “I believe that Allah created eyes to see, the tongue to speak. Nobody says to you that you have a right to speak — rather, this is a freedom that Allah created, and he gave you the ability to speak. So I don’t abide by the parameters of your acceptable behavior.”

“But this kind of network, this kind of conversation, would not happen under the kind of environment you would like to see exist,” Stelter responded.

Choudary replied that despite the fact that there is no independent media in Syria or Iran, that does not mean that there can’t be an independent media in an Islamic state. He then contended that there is no such thing as “radical” Islam.

“There is no such thing as a radical or moderate form of Islam,” he said. “You know, a woman is either pregnant or not pregnant. If you abide by Islam, and you follow what is in the Koran and the traditions of the prophet — then, quite frankly, you’d never find anything that I say which does not have Islamic basis.”

“So many Muslims would reject what you just said,” Stelter said, “and say that you are warping your religion for terrible purposes.”

“You’ll find that those people who differ from me believe in secularism, freedom — maybe they’re being paid by the government to say what they say,” Choudary replied.

“Now you’re just making up stuff!” an exasperated Stelter nearly shouted.

“No, that is not true all,” Choudary replied. “I’ve been propagating Islam, and I’ve met most of the leaders of the Muslim community, so I know what’s out there. If you go to Muslims who are actually practicing Islam…you’ll find that they say the exact same thing as me. Because I’m not calling for leadership for individuals, I’m calling for leadership for Islam.”

The conversation abruptly ended when Stelter said, “here’s what bothers me: when we were setting up for our interview here, the audio engineer asked you to count to ten to check the mic, and you started to do that — but then you said 9/11, 7/7, 3/11. Is this all some sort of joke to you?”

“You know,” Choudary said, “if you had a sense of humor, you would have laughed at that. It was just a soundcheck. You shouldn’t take any of these things that seriously. If you want to make it a big deal, then do so, but it makes you look much more shallow, really.”

“I have nothing more to say,” Stelter responded.

Jay Boo, do you *really* believe that a good person saying that they hope the evil Anjam Choudary “gets his” is morally equivalent to Choudary’s calls for Muslims to enslave and slaughter unbelievers?

      Can’t serve two masters.
Besides when we focus too much on the individual we underestimate the ideology to mutate its outer shell and slither away and infect another day.

The best self defense is to allow Islam no hiding places.

I don’t believe the disease analogy works beyond a point, Jay Boo.

Even in a Muslim society, someone has to *decide* to embrace, advocate, and live an evil ideology.

This is even more the case when the individual lives in the civilized West, and has the example of a more decent way of life constantly before them.

However brainwashed they might be, Muslims are, like any other human beings, moral agents.

We can’t treat them as helpless victims, nor as automatons incapable of resisting their programming.

I agree it is of paramount importance to focus on the evil ideology of Islam, but without willing and eager Muslims, Islam would be no more a danger than Aztec human sacrifice or the child-killing religion of Baal.

Oh, eff off and crawl into a corner.

I’m sick to *death* of your nasty, spiteful, snide and self-righteous comments towards those who actually have something to say, as opposed to your puerile and meaningless posts, which try so hard to be ‘intellectual’, and/or ‘poetic’. And dismally fail.

It’s time someone called you out on your nasty little spiteful squibs. You’re a useless wanker, and you contribute nothing to any discussion. Your idea is to attempt to diss and sneer at those who do actually contribute, in the hope that you will attract the notice of those more intelligent than yourself, because no-one actually pays much attention to your drivel.

I would normally just ignore you, as you richly deserve to be ignored, but I am utterly fed up with your sly sneering at those who are far above your intellectual level. Piss off. you arrogant and self-righteous little **twat**.

Lauren’s first three words “As a Christian” on the first post should not be a segue to invite ridicule of Christianity whether intentional or otherwise especially from duplicitous atheist commenters lying in wait.

You are really upset because you do not like my comments about atheists

The biggest problem is the UK fed him and he bred and now you have a mutant sub species attractive to other genetic failures.
We have chosen to take the role of creator by not allowing natural selection of who lives and who dies as in nature.
Anjem Choudary is a poster boy of what should not have made it through.

I don’t believe that Chaudary is a “genetic failure”—instead, he is a human being warped by adhering to the vile creed of Islam.

While inbreeding and birth defects *are* an issue in Dar-al-Islam, the greater problem is the ideology of Islam itself.

We’ve seen “reverts’ change for the worse when they embrace islam, and apostates change for the better when they leave it.

And by your reasoning, we’d have a greater problem in the West than in Dar-al-Islam with this sort of savagery, because we work to save children with birth defects and disabilities, rather than simply letting them die—but this is clearly not the case.

The fact is that this has very little to do with biology, and far more to do with an evil ideology.

      I understand your sentiment, but there are two things to consider;

What he says is simply the truth. There is no such thing as moderate, or extreme Islam. Islam is Islam with all its barbarity. In a perverse way, people should listen to that part of his message. Perhaps then they would see Islam for what it is.

Secondly, he’s a real asset! The people who do listen to what he says will see Islam for what it is. It’s not a la carte. He’s a clown with a very dubious past which really winds him up when he’s confronted with it.

Every time he opens his idiotic mouth sensible people see Islam in all its filth.

While watching this on TV, I noticed how this scum effectively blocked Stetler from interrupting him, lecturing him about being invited here then cut off mid-sentence. From that point onward, that pathetic Stetler let him have the complete run of the show, uninterrupted by common decency.

Once that scum felt he had the upper hand, upon being thanked for being there, he arrogantly responded: “Thank you, as always,” thus grabbing the role of host on the choudary show of horrors. And abiding by the islamo-classic directive to appear humble when you lose, then deliver the blow when you know you’ve won? NAUSEATING!!!

    • john says

      Aug 31, 2014 at 6:52 pm

Choudary accuses Stelter of interrupting him, but in just about every interview he’s on, Choudary doesn’t let anyone get a word in edgewise.

Also, Choudary talks about some Yazidi leaders who may have committed crimes (which is highly speculative) and how those people should be tried and punished under Sharia (Diarrhea?) law, but he fails to mention all the Yazidi women and children who have been enslaved, killed, kidnapped and gang-raped by ISIS members (not to mention all the ISIS atrocities against Christians, Kurds, Shiites and non-compliant Sunnis).

Very, VERY good points, John! This obscene excuse for a human being DARED to smear the victims — the classic trademark of abusers covering butt.
You terming the accusation as “highly speculative” doesn’t touch that reality: how many, among an entire sect of thousands, can possibly be innocent of every act imaginable? The actions of only an imagined few can NEVER condemn the class as a whole!
There is a saying that can be paraphrased as: Do victims of unimaginable acts of violence (say, the Holocaust) have to be SAINTS for us to empathize with their torture??
To every rational human being, the answer is unequivocally a resounding NO! It can be you, it can be me — and neither of us is crowned with a glorious halo, right?! BLAME THE VICTIM is the oldest game in town. How could that idiot Stetler ignore the fallacy?
How could the stupid producers, always squeaking in an anchor’s ears, NOT pick up on this simple maneuver and scream the obvious in that earphone of his?
I think that to label of a few “Yazidi leaders” is “speculative” at best is pretty lame, considering the power of smear-the-victim, don’t you?

CNN host stunned when Muslim cleric makes 9/11 joke during soundcheck
    ……………………………………….

I’m not stunned—how can someone who is supposed to be a newscaster be? Doesn’t Brian Stelter know that Anjam Choudary has referred to the 9/11 Jihadists as “magnificent martyrs”?

    More:

“’Why would you agree to go on a show like [Hannity]?’
    ……………………………………….

*Unbelievable*—Brian Stelter has a problem with Sean Hannity, but no problem with the bloody *Anjam Choudary*?

And note—my question has nothing to do with conservative politics—the question would have been just as ludicrous if he had asked the horrifying Choudary about, say, Chris Matthews at MSNBC or Amy Goodman at Democracy Now.

Doesn’t he know—or care—that Choudary has called for the murder of Infidels and imposition of Jizya on non-Muslims? Or that he wants to see “the black flag of Shari’ah” flying over 10 Downing Street by 2020? Or that he has said that “whoever insults the message of Mohammed is going to be subject to capital punishment”? Or “As Muslims, we reject democracy, we reject secularism, and freedom, and human rights”? Guess not…

    More:

“I don’t believe there’s any platform that shouldn’t be utilized to spread the message of Islam”
    ……………………………………….

It’s all Da’wa. Hosts like Hannity—despite their gaps in understanding Islam, do at least something to expose the evils of Jihad. But those like Choudary assume that there will be some even in FOX News’ audience who will be open to the message of Jihad…

    More:

“I believe that the Shariah is the best way of life,” he also said. “I believe that one day Shariah will come to America and the rest of the world.”

“What I wonder,” Stelter asked, “is aren’t you abusing the press freedoms you would like to see eliminated under Shariah law?”
    ……………………………………….

Of course not. Pious Muslims like Choudary believe in unlimited speech to spread the horror of Islam, and no free speech whatsoever to counter it.

    More:

“If you abide by Islam, and you follow what is in the Koran and the traditions of the prophet — then, quite frankly, you’d never find anything that I say which does not have Islamic basis.”
    ……………………………………….

    He’s not lying…

    More:

The conversation abruptly ended when Stelter said, “here’s what bothers me: when we were setting up for our interview here, the audio engineer asked you to count to ten to check the mic, and you started to do that — but then you said 9/11, 7/7, 3/11. Is this all some sort of joke to you?”

“You know,” Choudary said, “if you had a sense of humor, you would have laughed at that…
    ……………………………………….

Well, of course! Anjam Choudary finds violent Jihad attacks against Infidels hilarious—if the victims don’t, they must lack a sense of humor…

At least Brian Stelter brought this up on air. I’m sure some of his colleagues would have kept it to themselves lest they make their vicious guest “look bad”…

Yeah, I’m thinking the same thing – looking at the CNN video.

Firstly, I think fundamentally AC is probably a nice guy – but what he says is what poses the problem.

But then if you listen to him – he is saying – again – there is only one Islam – and the things he says and thinks are of Islam.

And this is why the blogs – the anti-jihad blogs and their compilers are in the position that they are – as they are saying the same thing too.

And that is why they are not listened too.

Better to hear the soothing sound of a moderate Muslim’s reassurance that all we are witnessing – has nothing at all to do with Islam – in reality.

    ::

It was that Egyptian [Muslim Brotherhood] political candidate guy who said it best – called it a ‘western Islam’ – and while he was in the US [believe he was even brought into US schools to speak to kids about Islam] he would talk as if this moderate Islam was the real one.

    ::

    ::

There is a PR campaign going on at the moment. There is a lot of Saudi money being pumped into it. It is like a wave.

    Twin Messages

That Georgetown professor was saying that many of these western ISIS guys aren’t from Wahabi traditions – you have the Saudis [rich Gulf guys] dumping money into the western universities – to feed the press or government institutions with the message they want them to hear [and it is so good, there are no churches in Arabia, but it would likely be deemed racist/Islamophobic/hateful to say there are none!! – They’ve made the irrational – rational], but on the other hand – you can almost set your watch by it – that some Saudi funded school in the US, the UK, across Europe is found to be teaching kids – this other Islam – the anti-western, intolerant, puritanical version. [Often in the form of after school classes]. Then we have the Saudi funded madrassas of Pakistan – and the immigration through marriage into Europe – helping to solidify this mindset.

It is clear there are two different Islamic messages here – and the irony is they are likely from the same source.

    Dhimmi Freedom

Of course it not that simple – even many non-practising Muslims can want shari’a law for the whole world – because that is what they have been taught. In short these are fundamental beliefs. The problem is – while many Muslims struggle to control their gag reflex gazing at the images – as their Islamic dream is being realized – we are also in this vision – but as dhimmis – subjugated citizens – unless of course we ‘all’ convert… and the killing of ‘criminal’ non-believers can stop…. and we can have the ‘peace’ that Islam promises :-).

At the moment the dark cloud is still over there.

Just maybe Sylvester McMonkey McBean is wrong. Perhaps you can teach a Sneetch (guess who has a granddaughter to whom he reads Dr. Seuss)–such as Stelter and the other high IQ morons (nod to the late Saul Bellow) at CNN.

So, Stelter is stunned? What did he expect when he invited the Chowderhead? Did he expect some kind of plea for peace and understanding? Maybe the stunned reaction indicates that Stelter saw through the nonsensical propaganda he and his ilk have been spewing about the wonderful “Third World” all these years, at least for a moment. I pray that Stelter would wake up and recognize that the moral equivalence about religions and romanticization of barbarian hellholes that he and his ilk have taken for sophistication is no more than a lot of hooey.

You know what’s weird? I met some Moroccans 12 years ago who came to the U.S. because THEY WON THE STATE DEPT’S LOTTERY!! If State ran an immigration lottery in Morocco, we know they’ve done it in every other stinking islamic hellhole — and they might still be!

After all, didn’t Obozo himself say we’re “exceptional”? That means, of course, that our government is and has been expert at inviting blood-thirsty jihadis and their supporters to our shores… Literally makes you sick!

    • Kepha says

Bettina, as an old consular officer, I have some observations about the visa lottery.

It was instituted to bring “diversity” into our immigrant population–i.e., dilute the pool of Latins, Filipinos, Southeast Asians, and Chinese who were coming in. Ted Kennedy, who helped introduce the idea, also hoped the visa lottery would re-invigorate that Irish, Italian, and Polish communities of yesteryear which had been so valuable to Democratic urban machines. He had no idea that the Irish and Italians were also post-Vatican II Catholics who flipped the bird at the Pope’s teachings on abortion, and hence lacked the surplus populations they once sent our way; while at the same time, he was appalled that the first generation Asian-Americans voted heavily Republican, perceiving the GOP as more anti-Communist. In any case, aware of Ted Kennedy’s hopes for the visa lottery, a lot of consular officers administering its provisions used to derisively call it “the Irish Sweepstakes”.

In fairness to the program, it also sent us a fair number of Sub-Saharan Christians, Thai Buddhists, and others.

Thank you, Kepha, for offering the backstory on immigration lottery.
Now that the Italians, Irish, Jews and others have limited their pop growth on one hand, and thousands of muslims keep coming over on the other, we’re all set for the perfect storm, with a lottery that keeps feeding potential Islamic sociopaths to form an insidious fifth column.
Our political motivations of yesteryear, if left unchanged, will signify our doom.

  25. Mirren10 says

    Sep 1, 2014 at 5:54 am

@ the egregious and pathetic ‘Jay Boo’.

”Cut the crap Mirren10 , you could care less about Lauren”

You know absolutely *nothing* about whom I care about, so you cut *your* crap.

”How often have atheists and Muslim apologists accused Christians of being hypocritical?
Lauren’s first three words “As a Christian” on the first post should not be a segue to invite ridicule of Christianity whether intentional or otherwise especially from duplicitous atheist commenters lying in wait.”

This from the moron who says ”islam is not 100% evil”, and ”Islam is based on vindictive willful ignorance.
We cannot defeat Islam by competing with Muslims at what they do best.”

First of all, you have never answered the question, what exact part of islam do you consider ‘not evil’ ?

Secondly, islam is *not* based on ‘vindictive wilful ignorance’. It is based on the mandates of the koran, which the paedophile murderer mohammed made up out of whole cloth. It’s mandates are certainly ‘vindictive’, but there is nothing ‘wilfully ignorant’ about them. mohammedans who carry out Islam’s mandates know perfectly well what they are doing, and why, and say so. Your wishy-washy euphemisms are just idiotic.

And Lauren’s words were not inviting ridicule of Christianity; she was stating her very human response to the evil of creatures like Choudhary, whilst acknowledging that Christianity enjoins its adherents not to ”wish harm to others”.

”You are really upset because you do not like my comments about atheists
You have an atheist agenda that resurfaces.”

What utter crap. Firstly, I am not an atheist, but, like Wellington, an agnostic who sees Christianity as a good and decent faith, which enjoins the Golden Rule, and has been, along with Judaism, responsible for much that is good in the West. I have never stated otherwise, and have frequently defended Christianity on this forum, against the attacks of atheists and moral equivalencers. You are an egregious liar.

And you don’t just make comments about atheists. You have posted pontifical snipings directed towards Dumbledoresarmy, Alarmed Pig Farmer, paddy, and Champ, amongst others, including myself. You attempt to arrogate to yourself, and pontificate upon, not just what people say, but how they should say it.

Not only that, but in your zeal to reprimand others, from what you see as your lofty high ground, and whilst designating others as trolls, without any evidence except your own woeful incomprehension of what they say, you invariably fail to suss out *real* trolls, and in fact, defend them; you did this with the repulsive ‘lynn newington’, and the equally repulsive ‘laura’. (I believe you called me a ‘nasty cyber bully’ when I called out the Newington bint on her moral equivalencing clap trap. 🙂 ) Basically, you’re an idiot.

” Anything that serves to undermine Christianity you seek to support despite occasional political platitudes otherwise.”

More stupid, lying crap. As anyone on this forum will attest, (as I said above), I have *frequently* defended Christianity. Your belief that I would wish to ‘undermine Christianity’ only exists in your limited excuse for a brain, plus the fact you frequently fail to comprehend what you read.

I don’t have time to parse out what you truly believe from the piles of BS thrown in between.
I have answered the “Islam is not 100% evil” question many times just by what I write on some of my postings. If Islam were in fact 100 % evil it would be a lot easier to defeat it. If all of Islam and all Muslims were guided by no other purpose than committing evil deeds and if every verse of the Qur’an was 100% evil Islam would have no hiding place.
Of course it is much easier to just claim Islam is 100 % evil when commenting on Jihad Watch. See how far that gets you debating with clever Muslims away from this stage or in the MSM.

        Sep 1, 2014 at 2:09 pm

”I don’t have time to parse out what you truly believe from the piles of BS thrown in between.”

No. What you mean is you have neither the intellectual ability, nor the moral honesty, to answer what I’ve said.

There are no ”piles of BS” in what I’ve written. I have merely repeated your accusations, and **answered** them; an exercise which you are strangely reluctant to perform.

You pretend you have answered the question I put to you; exactly *what* part of islam is not 100% evil, when of course you have done nothing of the kind. It really shouldn’t be that difficult to be specific, but you refuse to be so. Your postings are convoluted, pointless and pretentious , and in fact tell one nothing at all of what **specific** parts of islam you consider to be ‘not evil’. I wonder why you are so reluctant to answer the question.

Further, do you deny you have made sly, pretentious sideswipes at the posters I’ve mentioned ? I wouldn’t advise you to do so; it would be time consuming, but quite easy to post the links to the relevant comments, made by you.

Further still, do you deny that you have lied about my opinions on Christianity ? Do you deny that you have lied, and accused me of having an atheist agenda ? Again, I wouldn’t advise you to continue with your bare-faced and mean spirited falsehoods; I can post links to comments I have made, which show the exact opposite to be the case.

You ‘argue’ like a leftard or a mohammedan; you think saying ”I don’t have time to parse out what you truly believe from the piles of BS thrown in between” is an adequate response to what I’ve said. It’s much easier to throw deflecting insults around, rather than to get to grips with my reply, isn’t it ?

”Of course it is much easier to just claim Islam is 100 % evil when commenting on Jihad Watch. See how far that gets you debating with clever Muslims away from this stage or in the MSM”

I’ve debated more ‘clever muslims’ than you’ve had hot dinners; not only on Jihad Watch, but other forums as well. So take your patronising and pretentious bull shit and shove it up your backside.

So, are you going to admit you’re a barefaced liar ? Probably not, as you have all the moral honesty of a liar and a coward.

”As far as lynn Newington I did not call you (nasty) I said hateful cyber bully and the comment in question was not one that lynn Newington was moral equivalencing on”

Because you have reading and comprehension problems, and the inability to move from thread to thread, to see what a commenter is saying, you assume I must also.

I had already seen the Newington bint’s nonsense on other threads, but you assumed, in your arrogant and petty way, that my comment to her was because I was being a ‘hateful cyber bully’, and not that I had already sussed her out for what she was. You are as thick as a brick wall.

But rest assured, I will continue to call you out whenever you make one of your snide, smarmy little, pretentious, cheap and empty comments towards others.

‘Jay Boo’ is a self-important idiot, and whilst you may dislike, and vehemently disagree with what Mr Jihadski and Angemon say, they are certainly not ‘softies’ about islam, neither are they self-important idiots, as is the egregious liar, ‘Jay Boo’.

I have sometimes disagreed with what Mr Jihadski and Angemon have to say, but since they have never been gratuitously rude to me, or sneeringly contemptuous whilst attempting to smear me, and deliberately misrepresenting what I say, I see no reason to ‘go after them’, as you put it.

    • voegelinian says

      Sep 2, 2014 at 3:29 am

I don’t see how a distasteful personality — even if so bad it’s repellent — is more important in the context of the Counter-Jihad than the activity of promoting softness in the face of Mohammedans and their Islam. What bothers me about Jay Boo is his softness; his personality flaws only add texture to that problem. Ditto for PJ and Angemon. The old cliché of “adding insult to injury” comes to mind; but one mustn’t reverse the priority and start fixating on the insult as though it has as much importance if not more than the injury. Another way to put it is that, in the context of our “battle space” of the war of ideas, a well-mannered Softie should be critiqued more than a merely rude, crude or uncouth person. Certainly, PJ’s outrageously egregious deployment of the “insult” part of the equation makes it extremely tempting to see it as part of the problem morphing into the problem itself; but overall I never lost my perspective on it: his (and Angemon’s) defense of Muslims at all is what stinks to high heaven. And shame on all the seeming No-Nonsense Toughies for not calling them on it.

It’s not his ‘personality flaws’; it’s his attempts to ‘discipline’ others for what they say, his snide and pretentious attempts to put a bad gloss on what they say, and his bare faced **lies** about my own position.
