“Our sufferings today are the prelude of those you, Europeans and Western Christians, will also suffer in the near future. I lost my diocese. The physical setting of my apostolate has been occupied by Islamic radicals who want us converted or dead.”
Archbishop Nona is correct, but Europeans and Western Christians will not heed his warning. To do so would harm the “dialogue”: “Talk about extreme, militant Islamists and the atrocities that they have perpetrated globally might undercut the positive achievements that we Catholics have attained in our inter-religious dialogue with devout Muslims.” — Robert McManus, Roman Catholic Bishop of Worcester, Massachusetts, February 8, 2013.
“Exiled Archbishop of Mosul: ‘I Have Lost My Diocese to Islam; You in the West Will Also Become Victims of Muslims,'” by Susan Berry, Breitbart, August 18, 2014 (thanks to Pamela Geller):
The exiled Chaldean Catholic archbishop of Mosul, Iraq, is warning westerners about welcoming an increasing number of Muslims into their countries, naively believing that they too believe in democratic principles.
“Our sufferings today are the prelude of those you, Europeans and Western Christians, will also suffer in the near future,” said Archbishop Amel Shimoun Nona in an interview by Corriere della Sera. “I lost my diocese. The physical setting of my apostolate has been occupied by Islamic radicals who want us converted or dead. But my community is still alive.”
The archbishop’s interview was reported by the blog Rorate Caeli.
Nona, whose Eastern Rite church is under the authority of Pope Francis, now lives in Erbil, in Kurdistan, Iraq.
The archbishop warned:
Please, try to understand us. Your liberal and democratic principles are worth nothing here. You must consider again our reality in the Middle East, because you are welcoming in your countries an ever growing number of Muslims. Also you are in danger. You must take strong and courageous decisions, even at the cost of contradicting your principles. You think all men are equal, but that is not true: Islam does not say that all men are equal. Your values are not their values. If you do not understand this soon enough, you will become the victims of the enemy you have welcomed in your home.
CNSNews.com observes the Chaldean Catholic Church can be traced back to Thomas the Apostle, one of Jesus’s original twelve apostles. The actual diocese of Mosul was established in 1967, with the main church being St. Paul’s Cathedral….
john spielman says
Dear Robert; please send this article to that academic whore John Esposito and to the anti christ bishop Mc Manus
John C. Barile says
Yes, Robert, do–great idea, Brother Spielman!
I this this is good: do add that pointed paragraph quotation of Archbishop Nona to your quote bag, RS. Bishop Robert McManus shouldn’t receive all the limelight here.
John C. Barile says
I think this, that is.
bigmouth says
Please send to the Presbyterians (PCUSA), United Church of Canada and all the other liberal “Christian” churches out there.
Jay Boo says
Are you listening Pope Francis?
Do you still hear the morning bells while praising their call to prayer?
entendez-vous les matines
Frère François, Frère François,
Dormez-vous? Dormez-vous?
Sonnez les matines, sonnez les matines
Ding ding dong, ding ding dong.
Qu’est-ce que vous écoutez ?
Lookmann says
Could you pl render that French part in English ?
Jay Boo says
I will attempt to translate as follows
The top line
Do you hear the morning bells? (note: I forgot the question mark)
The last line
What are you listening to?
The middle is from a well known old nursery rhyme called ‘Frère Jacques’ substituting Francis for Jacques
Frère François, Frère François,
Dormez-vous? Dormez-vous?
Sonnez les matines, sonnez les matines
Ding ding dong, ding ding dong.
Are you sleeping, are you sleeping?
Brother John, Brother John?
Morning bells are ringing, morning bells are ringing
Ding ding dong, ding ding dong.
Jay Boo says
Brother John though becomes brother Francis in my version
bicky says
Hahha ha ha ha , good one !
paddy says
OMG Jay…you are sooo smart and cultured. I wish I was as smart and cultured like you.
Just kidding…preach to them brother…

Good point to bring Pope Francis into the discussion. After all, Bishop McManus is just saying what his leader would say. In November of last year, Pope Francis declared officially that:
“Authentic Islam and the proper reading of the Koran are opposed to every form of violence” [Evangelii Gaudium #253].
Read that sentence again slowly and think about how ignorant a person would have to be of the theology and history of Islam to make such a statement. Answer: profoundly ignorant. And he’s the head of the Church? We’re in trouble.
John Stefan Obeda says
The attitude of the Roman Catholic Church toward the Islam can be seen in “Nostra Aetate [Declaration on the Relation of the church to Non-Christian Religions] Oct. 28, 1965. This document, 4 pages long, devotes slightly less than half a page to Muslims. The entire translated document can be found at
http://abbey.opana.org.au/Councils/vatican2/V2non.Htm
I quote from point 3: “3. The Church has also a high regard for the Muslims. They worship God, who is one, living and subsistent, merciful and almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth, [1] who has also spoken to men. They strive to submit themselves without reserve to the bidden decrees of God, just as Abraham submitted himself to God’s plan, to whose faith Muslims eagerly link their own. Although not acknowledging him as God, they worship Jesus as a prophet, his virgin Mother they also honor, and even at times devoutly invoke. Further, they await the day of judgment and the reward of God following the resurrection of the dead. For this reason they highly esteem an upright life and worship God, especially by way of prayer, alms-deeds and fasting.
“Over the centuries many quarrels and dissensions have arisen between Christians and Muslims. The sacred Council now pleads with all to forget the past, and urges that a sincere effort be made to achieve mutual understanding; for the benefit of all men, let them together preserve and promote peace, liberty, social justice and moral values.”
There’s another document of the RC Church, “Lumen Gentium” (Nov. 21, 1964) that shows the attitude of the RC Church toward the Muslims. It’s 77 pages long. It can be found at:
http://abey.opana.org.au/church/vatican2/V2church.Htm
In Chapter II THE PEOPLE OF GOD it says: “But the plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Moslems: these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.”
So, this attitude would explain to me why Pope Francis is able to say what he said concerning Islam with a sincere heart and a straight face and be totally dead wrong. Jesus, our God and only Saviour of all of mankind from sin and hell, teaches us very plainly who goes to heaven. See John chapter 3. But even many people in the various churches, even in high places, don’t want to believe it. The god of Islam is the devil.
Yes, Joseph, any leader in the Church or State with an attitude like that toward Islam greatly contributes to trouble, putting it very mildly.
enoch says
I totally agree with your last comment about the god of Islam being Satan. That is the only reasonable conclusion one could reach from studying the doctrines set forth plainly in the Koran, and observe the fruit of the religion from it’s beginning onward (“a tree is known by it’s fruit”).
ECAW says
Just like 140 years ago all over again.
Then Bishop Strossmayer of Bosnia wrote to William Ewart Gladstone describing the sufferings of the Balkan Christians subject to the Ottoman Empire:
“The Koran has manifested before God and man its absolute incapacity to govern Christian nations, by making itself the basis not only of religious but of social and political life. Its fatal purpose is either to force Islamism upon them, or to deprive them for ever of political rights, and to plunge them into an intolerable oppression. No power in the world can change this inherent mission of the Koran, for it comes, in the belief of the Moslem, from God Himself.”
The difference is that then we had a prime minister willing to say “So long as there is this book [the Koran] there will be no peace in the world”.
Now we have one who says “It has nothing to do with Islam”.
AnneM says
Remember that the Koran comes from Satan the devil himself.
Have Mercy says
No, the Quran came from a committee of writers somewhat versed in the first books of a collection of fairytales you call the bible and also its extracanonical companion tales. Evil is part of the human condition just like love and compassion. It does not need a supernatural force to inspire it.
John Stefan Obeda says
You remind me, Have Mercy. After the 2nd world war there was a journalist who did not believe in the existence of the devil. But he went to Auschwitz and he saw what he saw, the holocaust, and he then said: “There must be a devil for the human heart of man alone is not capable of doing such great evil to fellow human beings.” (Those are not his exact words)
Mr. Have Mercy! God have mercy on us humans that He has created and redeemed by His Son to know and to believe the truth. And the truth is that we do not struggle against flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. (Eph.6) The actions of the Islamists prove to me that what they do they do by the power of the spiritual forces of the devils. Islam is what Islam does and what Islam does is of the devil – their god.
Charli Main says
Archbishop Nona is clearly unaware of the ” enormous contributions ” that Muslim immigrants have made to Europe and the USA. He really needs to have a heart to heart chat with David Cameron and Obama who will show him the error of his unfounded beliefs.
Why, I suspect that Archbishop Nona, is in fact an ignorant Islamophobe trying to slander the Religion of Peace.— now where is that sarc button????
AnneM says
Lock and load Americans!
Bridget Ames says
He is 100% true in his statement of it being prelude. Every westerner has benefited from Christianity, hospitals, education, basic freedom, etc. even the freedom to deny God is a freedom that Christianity has brought to it’s western civilians. It is only a matter of time for us to be victims of the evils of Islam.
May God have mercy on Mr.. Foley soul. I know I will be praying for him.

Someone should send his declarations to Pope Francis and his Pontifical Commission for Interreligious Dialogue, and to all the bishops in the world, especially the wimpy ones in the U.S. who have persectued Robert and not allowed him to speak in Church venues, despite being a Catholic in good standing and one who speaks the truth. Didn’t Jesus say “the truth will make you free”? Pope Benedict made a big effort as Pope to explain the relationship between freedoman and truth. Is anyone listening? I have seen jihadis on youtube shouting that they are going to “take over the Vatican”. I suppose they intend to burn it just as they did to the Diocesan Center in Mosul or maybe convert it into a mosque as they did with great Basilica of Holy Wisdom in what was Constantinople now Istanbul. It took them more than 7 centuries to take Constantinople. Rome is on their list also.
voegelinian says

And naively believing that the Muslims already in the West (whether “citizens” or not) too believe in democratic principles — rather than in the stealth jihad promoting deadly sedition that has already mass-murdered thousands of Westerners and portends even more horrific mayhem, misery and mass-murder.

People who never live in a muslim majority willl never understand what happened..
They blinded by democracy, by the modern life, by the hedonism, by the “the west is the best” mind, by multiculturalism, by technology and of course by idiotism..they can no longer see their religion mate suffering in overseas as their suffering too..
West think there is nobody can reach them.wtf???nobody should busy to come after you…the danger already your neighbors..you put it there..lol

DEATH to Islam and those who follow it.
Hard to see any other alternative other than FORCING them to renege on their indoctrinated violence. The problem is the world of trade as multinationals will become pissed if the Indonesian or Malaysian boycott your product and hence their boards will then pressure the last drop of testosterone still surviving in the genitals of those western leaders not sullied by socialism and still with some courage.
Face it!! The rich who control the west do not GAF about the fate of the west so long as their bank balance increases and when war breaks out they move t0 their foreign properties and only the middle and working class fight. It has always been the same as the aristocrats of old were always happy to support the winning side and keep their advantages and left “patriotism” to the great masses of the poorer unwashed. ALL wars are flooded with the blood of the common man. Wars like WW1 where many sons of the rich died are extremely rare and the American Civil war was typical as there if “called up” you could pay some one to take your place and we all know that Clinton ran from the USA rather than fight. His election was the turning point in US ethics as once they had elected a cowardly non patriot , a lying Muslim black, elected because of his lies and his colour was a foregone conclusion.
I doubt hat the west will act until the silent majority MAKE them do so. A nice little sustained burst of “sudden disappearances” without trace of many seditious and violent Muslims in the west would be a real first step IMO. This is NOT the view of Jihad Watch or Robert Spencer but my own. I don’t have Islamophobia or IslamoNausea, I am a MisIslamist and a MisMuslim.
Tommo says
And who backs Islam and is against Israel? The World Council of Churches. It was this organisation that helped to bring down the white government in South Africa by supporting the terrorist ANC who were armed by Soviet Russia. So don’t expect any sympathy from them over the loss of Christianity in Iraq.

If I dont read any atheistic comments soon then I will surely look for a website that not only trashes muslim psychos but all religious nuts.
There are people on this site who are no better than those they are condemning. The rank hypocrisy, quoting verses from the bible, is stomach churning.
There are millions of us out there who are way beyond your sad, sorry concept of life and its definition by ancient texts. Jihad Watch needs to rebrand itself

The vast majority of comments on this thread are secular and not quoting scripture. I guess paddy has completed the Leftist disease, and is now suffering delusions & seeing hallucinations.

paddy has an odd definition of “stomach churching”, if he regards having to scan past the odd biblical quotation in the same manner as he does *genocide*, which appears to be the case.
If one is not religious I can see regarding such postings as tedious or off-topic, but morally equivalent to oppression and *mass slaughter*?
Very disturbing.

As Voegelinian notes, all but a few of the comments on this thread have been secular, and if they make reference to the church at all, it is only in the institutional sense—not at all inappropriate for a story quoting a Christian cleric.
In any case, Robert Spencer himself is Christian. This site is open and welcoming to people of other religious faiths and to agnostics and atheists, and there are many atheist posters here.
But if paddy will only be satisfied with Jihad Watch if it condemns religious people like the Archbishop of Mosul as vociferously as it does those who are butchering his flock, then perhaps he *should* find another site.
And what will he do when ravening Mohammedans come for him? Will he then be glad that he wouldn’t ally with anyone who didn’t regard peaceful Bible readers as as malignant as violent Jihadists?
