They “incited anti-Semitism all over the world and are oblivious to the damage that they have caused.” Indeed so. “Jon Voight To Cruz, Bardem On Israel: ‘Oblivious To The Damage They Have Caused,'” Deadline.com, August 2, 2014:
The brutal conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza has moved several high profile actors and filmmakers to voice their opinions in support of one side or the other. The latest is Jon Voight, who attacks Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz for signing a letter accusing the Israeli military of genocide.
In response to the strongly-worded July 29 letter signed by Bardem, Cruz and Pedro Almodovar, among others and published in a Spanish newspaper, Voight blasted the actors this morning with his own Open letter saying they have defamed the only democratic country of goodwill in the Middle East: Israel (Bardem and Cruz later clarified their statements this week).
A longtime, outspoken supporter of Israel, Voight wrote that Bardem and Cruz should “hang their heads in shame” over their shortsightedness with the country’s situation, arguing that they “incited anti-Semitism all over the world and are oblivious to the damage that they have caused.”
When asked by Deadline this morning to expand on his op-ed, Voight said, “The letter says everything I need to say and I don’t want to diffuse what the words say in the letter.”
Voight wrote that Israel has always sought peaceful relations with its Arab neighbors, returning the Sinai Peninsula to Egypt and giving Gaza to the Palestinians as a peace gesture: “What was the response? The Palestinians elected Hamas, a terrorist organization, and they immediately began firing thousands of rockets into Israel.”
“I am asking all my peers who signed that poison letter against Israel to examine their motives. Can you take back the fire of anti-Semitism that is raging all over the world now? You have been able to become famous and have all your monetary gains because you are in a democratic country: America. Do you think you would have been able to accomplish this in Iran, Syria, Lebanon, et cetera? You had a great responsibility to use your celebrity for good,” said the Oscar-winning actor in his letter.
Voight’s daughter Angelina Jolie, speaking to a U.K. film trade a few days ago, had this to say about the Gaza situation: “I force myself to watch these news programs and to read the papers, but it hurts, and it’s so deeply sad because there doesn’t seem to be an answer for what we can do…If I knew what I could do or what I could say, to in some way to bring an end to this conflict or help with the cease fire, I would do it in a moment.”
Voight was recently nominated for a Primetime Emmy in the best supporting actor drama series category for his work as ex-con Mickey Donovan in Showtime’s Ray Donovan. On the eve of the series’ season 2 debut, Voight used an appearance on Fox News Channel’s Huckabee to take aim at President Obama’s Middle East policy. “Three young teens have been killed mercilessly and hundreds of rockets are being fired at Israel’s civilian population,.” he said. “Obama promised Prime Minster Netanyahu, ‘America is your ally and we will cover your back.’ So, why does he continue to send billions to the Palestinian Authority who have recently allied themselves with Hamas, an acknowledged terrorist organization and who are responsible for these crimes? Is that covering his back?”
One3 of Hollywood’s highest-profile political conservatives, Voight also described the Democratic party as “more socialist” today.

Now I feel compelled to pull “Midnight Cowboy” out of the stack and hook up the old VCR. (Sorry…can’t stomach a second viewing of “Deliverance.”) But you are a fine actor, a fine man, and a fine friend to Israel.

As I already posted at Yahoo, kudos to Voight and deep shame to Cruz. What is particularly illustrated here is how important proper information, common sense and moral intelligence are. Voight has all three. Cruz is in possession of none of these.

Yes, it is out of step with the usual Hollywood line and I expect to see a new movie any day now with the usual Serbian “terrorists” as the villains. I guess Hollywood is more interested in 1.4 billion new viewers than the truth and when you add political morons like Sean Penn. Mel Gibson to the mix you really see how the leftists have not just become dominant there but have taken it over completely.
I often wonder if Hollywood will find its “cochones” and actually make a movie that shows Islam for what it really is and Muslims for what they are. Little chance I guess as poor Theo gelded them.

Cruz apologized, but I don’t know if she was sincere or not. She may have been led astray by left wing fanatics.

According to God-haters like you, non-muslims should NOT defend themselves from barbaric muslim attackers. This is what an Israeli said about the horrors of the muslim terror tunnels and the Jewish children targeted by Hamas savages:
“But, now, with the diabolical possibility of terror tunnels from below opening up, literally, beneath kindergartens, “now I need to come up with a story to help them cope with tunnels!!! that’s a challenge!”
In the four weeks since the beginning of Operation Protective Edge, IDF forces have uncovered dozens of such well-constructed and equipped tunnels opening into kibbutz areas, near children’s playgrounds, dining halls, and fields.”
No human beings on earth should have to live like that! What are Israelis going to tell the children? There is no escape when muslim monsters — the spawn of satan come out of the terror tunnels and grab the children.
When muslim savages commit atrocities and barbaric murders they are obeying Quran and mosque commands. It’s deceitfully called the Arab Israeli conflict. It’s NOT. It’s global jihad against Israel and the entire Free World.
EVERY NON-MUSLIM ON EARTH IS TARGETED IN GLOBAL JIHAD.

I was aware that Jon Voight had spoken in support in support of Israel in the past and I’m glad to see he’s done so again – there are so few in Hollywood who have publicly spoken out in support of Israel or against Islam.
Apart from Voight the only people I can think of offhand are Scarlett Johansson and John Rhys-Davis (Gimli in the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy).
Israel has a term for non-jews who have defended and aided jews facing persecution and genocide: “the Righteous among the Nations”. Perhaps – more lightheartedly – at Jihadwatch we could compile a list of “the Righteous among the Hollywussies”.

John Voigt, Clint Eastwood and a few other Hollywood actors are stand up guys. Of course, I agree with their point of view!
In general….I think that it’s a sad commentary that actors or actresses express views on world politics and are listened by and have an influence on the world . Most have no idea what they’re talking about and have no qualifications to speak intelligently on the topic. Seeking their counsel on geo-politics is like having a toothache and going to see a proctologist!

As a Jewish believer inJesus, I had to do a lot of homework to understand the history of what is a still-thriving anti-semitism. Unfortunately, Obama is no Churchill , and here we are. It’s sad, but not unexpected that the media cannot use common sense and logic while reporting. My granddaughters history book is the example that comes to mind-one paragraph on the Holocaust and three pages on Native American, black, and Mexican contributions to WWII. That says it all!

I agree that Jon Voight deserves praise for his courage and principles in support of Israel. One recent role of his, however, tended to reinforce the PC MC paradigm about Islamic terrorism: when in season 7 (2009) on the blockbuster TV hit 24, he played Jonas Hodges, an evil white billionaire right-wing businessman with his own private army (i.e., a militia on right-wing steroids) who was the “real” force behind all the terrorism that in the drama people had mistakenly assumed was Muslims. A most unfortunate propaganda meme to be pushing in our ongoing war of ideas we continue to lose.

Nevertheless, I implore you to please condemn the killings and seige that is taking place in Gaza.
As an EU citizen, I greatly appreciated the UK Prime Minister’s strong demand for a ceasefire in Gaza to be implemented immediately and his belief that Gaza is an open-air prison. The statement from Nick Clegg UK Deputy Prime Minister whereby he criticised Israel’s collective punishment, was correct. The Labour Party in the UK and in Australia have condemned Israel’s incursions in Gaza, which has resulted in the latest atrocious – killing of sleeping Palestinian children. The UN and US apportioned this destruction to Israel’s direct illegal actions. Throughtout the world, the sight of Israel’s actions have been hugely disproportional and its rejection of the Human Rights Council ruling into war crimes was just illogical. Israel’s seige of Gaza, where people are prevented from leaving this land is shocking too.
Please may I respectfully address the circumstances over the latest tragedy in Gaza and commend the UN in its quest to determine war crimes.
Rachel Levy has reported – a news item available via Israel’s Haaretz – that Ansar Beit al-Maqdis, an Egyptian group, claimed responsibility for the killing of the 3 Israeli settlers in Area C (IDF controlled) of the Occupied Palestinian West Bank. Following the killings, a Palestinian Abu Khedir was slain horrifically and over 500 Palestinians from the West Bank were kidnapped including children. According to the UK Guardian (20th June), in the search for the missing Israeli teenagers Mohammed Dudin was killed and welfare organisations destroyed. Other Palestinians were killed on the West Bank (recognised by the UN in 2012 as part of Palestine and a non-member STATE).
These actions on the Palestinian people are not legal. Illegal assaults, including those on women and children sheltering in UN centres, killing of UN staff and reporters, to continuously grabbing West Bank land and occupying it and then repetitively ignoring the ruling of the International Court of Justice (2004 ruling) on the illegal “wall” which is 421 miles long – cannot be allowed to continue indefinitely. They are wrong.
The EU also condemned this “wall”. Does Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accept international legitimacy Security Council resolutions 476 and 478 regarding the status of Jerusalem? Does Mr Netanyahu accept over 150 UN Resolutions.
Michael Horowitz in the Times of Israel conveyed – following his interview last month – conveyed how Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has in effect completely ruled out Palestine’s freedom and criticized the amazing work of the US Administration.
Where does this leave the two-state solution if Mr Netanyahu opposes a viable and sovereign Palestinian State? Even David Cameron has cast doubts of the viability of this, since settlements are still being built on Occupied Territory and indigenous Palestinian Christians and Muslims on the West Bank are treated under different laws on the West Bank from those residing and accessing illegal West Bank settlements. Where is the justice?
Thank you.
Yours sincerely
Anthony Aloysious

* The West Bank and East Jerusalem is occupied Palestine (bilaterally recognised by 133 nations in the world including India, China, Russia, Brazil, Malaysia, Indonesia, Guatemala, Thailand and Iceland). This number has increased since 2013.
* Palestine is officially a non-member State and recognised by the UN. 138 nations supported Palestine in November 2012 in its successful bid for statehood. France, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Greece, Cyprus and Malta were among many European nations to support Palestine. Their vote for Palestine was important as were those cast by India, China, Russia, Brazil, Japan, Mexico and New Zealand who supported Palestine too. The Secretary General of the UN and Vatican Church wel-comed the re-birth of Palestine.
* However, Palestine (West Bank and East Jerusalem) is still illegally held and sadly Israel’s Prime Minister Mr Netanyahu has ignored the ruling of the International Court of Justice (subsequently supported by the UN and EU) with respect to the “separation barrier”. This “wall” is 3 times the length of the Berlin Wall.
* UNESCO’s recognition of Palestine in 2011 was supported by France, Spain, Ire-land, Belgium, Norway, Greece and other European nations.
* Please also see UNSC Resolution 478 concerning Jerusalem. The 4th Geneva Convention is applicable to all the Palestinian Territories.
* International law and UN Resolutions (over which there are over 150) are ignored by Israel’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.
* UN Resolutions specify Israel’s illegal hold of the Palestinian Territories to be a violation of the 4th Geneva Convention and as such is a War Crime under international law. More so now, that settlements are being placed in another nation.

Jerusalem, with its implications for peace and security; noting that Israel has
not complied with resolution 476 (1980); reaffirming its determination to
examine practical ways and means, in accordance with the relevant provisions of
the Charter of the United Nations, to secure the full implementation of its

*** Resolution 694 (1991) – BINDING
Adopted by the Security Council at its 2989th meeting on 24
May 1991
The Security Council,
Reaffirming its resolution 681 (1990),
Having learned with deep concern and consternation that Israel has, in violation of its obliga-tions under the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949, and acting in opposition to relevant Security Council resolutions, and to the detriment of efforts to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the Middle East, deported four Palestinian civilians on 18 May 1991,
1. Declares that the action of the Israeli authorities of deporting four Palestinians on 18 May is in violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949, which is applicable to all the Palestinian territories
occupied by Israel since 1967, including Jerusalem;
2. Deplores this action and reiterates that Israel, the occupying Power, refrain from deporting any Palestinian civilian from the occupied territories and ensure the save and immediate re-turn of all those
deported;
3. Decides to keep the situation under review.
*** Resolution 672 (1990) – BINDING
Adopted by the Security Council at its 2948th meeting on 12 October 1990
The Security Council,
Recalling its resolutions 476 (1980) and 478 (1980),
Reaffirming that a just and lasting solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict must be based on its resolutions 242 (1967) and 338 (1973) through an active negotiating process which takes into account the right
to security for all States in the region, including Israel, as well as the legitimate political rights of the Palestinian people,
Taking into consideration the statement of the Secretary-General relative to the purpose of the mission he is sending to the region and conveyed to the Council by the President on 12 October 1990,
1. Expresses alarm at the violence which took place on 8 October at the Al Haram al Shareef and other Holy Places of Jerusalem resulting in over twenty Palestinian deaths and to the in-jury of more than one hundred and fifty people, including Palestinian civilians and innocent worshippers;
2. Condemns especially the acts of violence committed by the Israeli security forces resulting in injuries and loss of human life;
3. Calls upon Israel, the occupying Power, to abide scrupulously by its legal obligations and responsibilities under the Fourth Geneva Convention, which is applicable to all the territories occupied by
Israel since 1967;
4. Requests, in connection with the decision of the Secretary-General to send a mission to the region, which the Council welcomes, that he submit a report to it before the end of October 1990 containing his
findings and conclusions and that he use as appropriate all the resources of the United Nations in the region in carrying out the mission.
24th April 2012 – UK Foreign Secretary William Hague said:
“I strongly condemn the Israeli government’s decision yesterday to turn three illegal outposts in the West Bank into settlements. I urged the Israeli government in my statement on 5 April to remove – not
legalise – outposts across the West Bank”.
Furthermore, I would like to refer you to specific serious concerns raised by the International Court of Justice (2004) – with relevance to the ‘security barrier’ – which was viewed with alarm by the international community. Incidentally the reference to the illegality of settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem was also reinforced when the International Court of Justice also found the following (indeed the EU supported the UN vote pertaining to the ‘security barrier’):
* That the separation barrier is intended to assist the settlements, the establishment of which violates Article 49 of the Convention. Also, the court pointed out that the restrictions placed on the local population located between the barrier and the Green Line are liable to lead to abandonment of the land, which also constitutes a violation of Article 49. In addition, the opinion stated that taking control of private land to build the barrier injured private property owners, and thus violated Articles 46 and 52 of the Hague Regulations of 1907 and of Article 53 of the Fourth Geneva Convention.

The more time goes, the more I like Jon Voight.
He is so much better than his stupid daughter Angelina Jolie, who has carried water for Muslims for years and even wrote, directed and produced that horrible movie, “In the Land of Blood and Honey”, which portrayed Muslims as the ONLY victims of the Yugoslavian war and Muslim women as the ONLY victims of rape by evil Christian Serbs.
Not a word about the hundreds of situations in which Muslim soldiers from all over the world went to Christian homes and ordered Christian fathers to rape their Christian daughters, and killed them if they refused.
Jon Voight is an honest man and his daughter has sought nothing but her self-glorification. They say the apple never falls far from the tree but it is really strange how far the rotten apple has fallen here from the morally healthy tree.
