Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Much of the US aid to Yazidis “useless” because it was dropped from 15,000ft without parachutes and exploded on impact

Aug 11, 2014 3:19 pm By Robert Spencer

obama wide-grin_1548848iAs far as the mainstream media is concerned, this doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is that Barack Obama is made to appear as if he is doing something for the Yazidis and against the Islamic State. That he actually do something effective is not required. “Iraq crisis: ‘It is death valley. Up to 70 per cent of them are dead,'” by Jonathan Krohn, the Telegraph, August 10, 2014 (thanks to David):

Mount Sinjar stinks of death. The few Yazidis who have managed to escape its clutches can tell you why. “Dogs were eating the bodies of the dead,” said Haji Khedev Haydev, 65, who ran through the lines of Islamic State jihadists surrounding it.

On Sunday night, I became the first western journalist to reach the mountains where tens of thousands of Yazidis, a previously obscure Middle Eastern sect, have been taking refuge from the Islamic State forces that seized their largest town, Sinjar.

I was on board an Iraqi Army helicopter, and watched as hundreds of refugees ran towards it to receive one of the few deliveries of aid to make it to the mountain. The helicopter dropped water and food from its open gun bays to them as they waited below. General Ahmed Ithwany, who led the mission, told me: “It is death valley. Up to 70 per cent of them are dead.”

Two American aid flights have also made it to the mountain, where they have dropped off more than 36,000 meals and 7,000 gallons of drinking water to help the refugees, and last night two RAF C-130 transport planes were also on the way.

However, Iraqi officials said that much of the US aid had been “useless” because it was dropped from 15,000ft without parachutes and exploded on impact….

I don’t believe anything an “Iraqi official” has to say on the issue. I also doubt that Class 1 supplies are dropped from 15,000 feet without some sort of parachute system. I saw another article about this that quoted a percentage of loss with the delivery system, and yes, some of the supplies probably hit without their chute opening properly, but to say “much” of it was “useless” is a gross misrepresentation.
It’s too bad we don’t drop more on Iraq that “explodes on impact”.
That is a funny picture of the President, though.

I was on a Belgian air force C-130 transport plane, also known as a “flying boxcar” dropping burlap bags of cotton seed in a bizarre attempt to “aid” cholera victims’ starving cattle in Southern Mali. They shoved these big bags, about 50 of them, out the back of the plane at an altitude of 1000′, and every bag exploded upon impact. I find this story completely believable.

A man on the news last evening stated that the packages had *exploded* on impact and the people were unable to use any thing.
There is no real reason to not believe him. There would be no reason for him to lie about it.

      Good grief!……

“….There is no real reason to not believe him. There would be no reason for him to lie about it.”

There is no real reason to believe him unless we know exactly who he is and his religious feelings, and what he stands to gain by having tons of “replacement supplies” airdropped more “carefully”.

Muslim controlled territory spokesmen are nothing if not warm b*llsh*t.

No responsible aircrew anywhere is going to airdrop supplies without parachutes except under the most carefully thought out and controlled circumstances.

Moreover, if the cargo craft had been hit and needed to jettison cargo immediately in order to get rid of that weight, it would indeed be dropped. Then the connecting tether/lines would be cut.

        Aug 11, 2014 at 4:36 pm

Excuse me, but grief is never good.

And since the *man* referred to was not named, the news program was not named, how can you disparage what my comment about it was? He said nothing about *more* supplies, nor did he say that he wanted them dropped again *more carefully*. He was not a muslim and was not going to directly benefit from any drops made.
As far as what he did say, he seemed believable. I”v enough history with liars to be reasonably sure he was telling the truth.

Perhaps no parachutes were used in order to not let the is know drops were being made or perhaps they were shot down or maybe…just maybe..is destroyed them on the ground before those starving could reach the drop sites.

And one last point…having seen a lot of footage from other drops of aid and supplies, I know sometimes the packages do break open even with parachutes being employed. Water bottles just might empty on contact if that happened.

I saw the same program, it was a Chaldean Clergyman. He was also very upset by the fact that his fellow Christians have been ethically cleansed and have been the victims of genocide for a long time. He has been attempting to contact the media for many months, but they never returned his attempts to contact them. He was also more than a little disgusted that it took 30,000 Yazidis stranded on a hill before someone noticed.

The information regarding the spoiled packages was second hand information, which he relayed.

Disappointingly, our press has been completely complicate with the ethnic cleansing going on against religious minorities at the hands of Muslims in Iraq and elsewhere for many decades. It can’t be by accident that this Clergyman was ignored for so long, then all of a sudden contacted. Our media has been riding shot gun for our president & therefore genocidal Islamic Jihadists as well. Our press has the blood of these minorities and many more on their hands.

Had Cameron and Hilary got their way and Assad had been toppled, ISIS would now control the whole of Iraq and Syria, and would probably control Lebanon as well with the big showdown against Israel to come. But with Assad still in the game, ISIS have a lot to do. And I can’t think of anything more idiotic than to order air strikes against ISIS in Iraq whilst helping them in Syria. Without Ed Miliband and Cameron’s defeat on the issue of air strikes on Syria against Assad, things would have been far worse. If anything, any airstrikes in Syria should be against ISIS and not Assad. Assad might be unpleasant but ISIS are many times worse.

When the Iraqi air force did this it made some sense. Could be mere incompetence or intentional horrific neglect of a religious minority by Muslims.

In the case of the USAF it makes no sense. Dropping supplies by parachute is SOP for them and they are usually quite good at it. They even drop vehicles and artillery by parachute.

Something odd about this story, but without more details I can’t know for sure.

Or Army, ANG, Navy, or Marines. US supply aviation is the best in the world. This is hardly their first rodeo.

The only thing I can think of is ground fire causing a change of plans, but they should be able to drop from high altitude. If they were trying to do the low altitude drag – drop and were forced by ground fire to drop from high altitude… Eh, I am just spit balling. But something seems wrong with this story.

Pres. Obama seems to be making ‘political noise’ to be found acceptable to the mainstream media and those that follow and believe what the various ‘bureaus of disinformation’ (formerly known as the ‘news’) here in ‘Amerika’ dish out their liberal bias.
May “the Lord God Almighty” have mercy in His Righteous judgment upon our apathetic, complacent, wicked, evil and increasingly Apostate country.
“The LORD JEHOVAH” always says it best:
      – “Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.”
      (3 John 1:11 – KJV)

Food can be dropped from very high elevation in large cardboard box containers. The lids on the containers open as they tumble in the air, this allows the contents to spill out over a wide area. Each MRE reaches a low terminal velocity and is not damaged on contact with the ground nor a danger to people on the ground. One advantage is that the food is spread over a wide area so that people can run in easily scavenge the food packets thus reducing lines of people and wholesale theft of food by groups on the ground.

There are several photos that purport to show the airdrop of supplies in the Sinjar area on you tube. One is listed as being posted by CENTCOM and show parachutes photographed videoed from above, falling along road 47 IN the town of Sinjar and by the surrounding fields. The mountains are in the background. From the size of the parachutes in the video, their shape, and drift in the wind; it looks like they are open in this video. Compare a satellite photo of the area. It does not look look these parachutes will land in the mountains. Under the conditions of dropping supplies over hostile territory, pinpoint accuracy is not always achieved; unless possibly these particular chutes had :”surprises” for ISIS on them.

The video of the airstrike was accurate, assuming that the videos are “unprocessed”. The Associated Press You Tube video shows pallets going out the back of the aircraft, and also the same video segment of the open parachutes heading to the ground. “Raw US airstrikes, air drops in Iraq.

I used to think Islamic fundamentalism was a short time radical movement like Bolshevism (it “only” lasted for decades) and stuff. But with Islam being a religion, the perpetrators are way more motivated to fight for God than Communists were to fight for some abstract earthly ideals. This could be way more destructive for civilization as a whole.
