Nigeria: Islamic jihadists behead six-year-old boy because he was Christian

This reads like the story of a Roman martyr from the second century: “Boko Haram beheaded six-year-old Christian boy, group reports,” Christian Today, August 28, 2014 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):

It was revealed this week that Nigerian terrorist group Boko Haram beheaded a six-year-old boy on June 1 because he was a Christian.

The attack occurred in Attagara, Gwoza district, Borno State – a predominately Christian community, according to Voice of the Martyrs.

Over 100 militants descended upon the village, slaughtering men, women, and children.

Boko Haram has kidnapped and killed Christians and Shiite Muslims across Borno and Yobe States in an increasingly deadly campaign to establish an extremist, Sunni Muslim reign.

The assault on Attagara occurred as Sunday church services were beginning, according to Voice of the Martyrs (VOM). Boko Haram slashed the villagers with machetes, and fired upon them with assault weapons.

One villager, Sawaltha Wandala, was arriving at church for the second service when he saw children being massacred. One six-year-old boy had been slashed and thrown into a ditch, but he was alive. Wandala picked him up and was carrying him to a hospital in Cameroon, when he was stopped by five of the militants.

The men reportedly took the child from Wandala’s arms and beheaded him, then began beating the 55-year-old with tree branches. After striking him in the head with a rock, they left him for dead.

Two days later the militants returned, attacking Attagara and other villages in Gwoza. VOM reported that approximately 200 people were killed in the two-day assaults.

John Yakuba and his family survived the Attagara attacks and fled to Cameroon, but Yakuba returned to their home to retrieve their animals and some of their belongings. The family faced starvation at a refugee camp, and Yakuba hoped to sell the animals to support them.

Boko Haram members saw Yakuba entering his home, however, and captured him.

“We know you’re John,” they said to him, according to VOM. “You must convert to Islam or else you will die a painful death.”

When Yakuba refused to denounce Christ, they tied his arms and legs to a tree, and hacked his hands with a knife.

“Can you become a Muslim now?” the militants asked.

“You can kill my body, but not my soul,” Yakubu cried out.

The men continued to cut his feet and back with a machete and knife to torture him.

“We will show you,” they said.

Yakuba’s head was slashed, and an axe was driven into his knee, reaching the bone.

He lost consciousness and was left tied to the tree for three days before someone found him, after which he was taken to the hospital in a coma.

When Yakuba recovered sufficiently to be interviewed, he offered a message of peace to his attackers.

“I have forgiven the Islamic militants, because they did not know what they are doing,” he told VOM.

Boko Haram became internationally known after kidnapping over 270 children from an all-girls school in Chibok, Nigeria on April 14. A second mass kidnapping occurred on May 4 in Warabe. Over 200 girls remain missing.

    • I had an interesting discussion with my son the other day and it concerned the torture of kids and their beheading and a photo that I unfortunately saw that haunted me of a naked woman after having been raped she was being held like an animal being sacrificed. They held her torso and someone held her feet while her neck was sliced and the life blood just flowed out of her—oh how I hoped she was a believer in the salvation that Jesus offers. Talking about this led my son and I to a question which we discussed. That was: Since man was created in the image of God, is there a point in depravity below which man cannot descend because of his humanity, and thereby is in need to demonic infestation to descend to such depths of depravity. I know mankind has sinful nature which is why he needs Jesus Christ, and I know mankind can act pretty depraved, but is there a point below which he cannot descend without demonic infestation? My mind shuts down when I think of what is being perpetrated by Islam—–there must be demon hoards being released by the billions in that part of the world as mankind gives allegiance to them. My son and I did not come to a conclusion, except to say that man has a choice and Israel was told in Deut 30? “to choose this day whom they would serve, I set before you life or death, blessings or cursings, choose life.”–The Most High God said this. So it does seem that man is ultimately responsible for his choices.

        In terms of philosophical anthropology, it’s six and one half dozen of the other, in the sense that “demonic” is a symbolism for the mystery of iniquity; and in light of the rather copious attestation in the Gospels (and Paul’s letters) of the demonic as a factor in human evil and human darkness.

        The emphasis of the question I would place it on, in this regard considering the ghoulishly appalling hatred and behavior of Mohammedans, is not so much of a mere depth of evil in man below which it shifts to the demonic — but rather if there is not a level “down there” where the human becomes psychically enslaved to a point nearly of no return.

      • Man is responsible. As evil and wicked and depraved as we see the devil to be, and he is every bit that and more, we have the capacity inside each and every one of us to do these unthinkable acts. Sin dwells in us. It is a reality. But I would submit to you, think about that for a moment and picture, once again, our precious Lord and Savior giving His Life’s Blood for that, THAT!! For that. So often we think of our sin in such a non- evil way. Jesus died for my lying and my anger and my lust. What about the savage beheading of a little child.
        What about the person who rapes and then slices open a woman who’s only crime is believing in Jesus? Did Jesus die for them? Yes. He did! What a glorious Savior!!!

    • Yout don’t seem to realize that these are the words Jesus used on the cross, and they obviuosly show his Christian attitude, something common to all martyrs throughout the centuries. Jesus ordered his followers to forgive their enemies and he did it himself on the cross. A stark contrast to islamic hate.

      • Yes, and i think it is a grace from God to be able to forgive that kind of atrocity. I dont think it’s possible by ourself to forgive that without His help, that’s why it’s so difficult to understand.

  2. The only benefit for the World to come from Boko and ISIS is that they have woken the whole World up to the ravages of Islam where-ever you find it!

    • To be honest Kasey, I thought I debt crisis would trigger the long awaited collapse of the UK. However, I now think it’ll be an energy crisis. Once the Islamic State take the oil fields then it’ll be ‘wake up’ time for the west. But will we have the ‘energy’ to fight them? I mean, we can’t go after them with wind and solar powered tanks & planes etc?

      What a mess.

      • Shale oil and gas. the U.S. will be produce enough oil for itslelf in some 4 years time, and it is already producing enough gas.

        • We can make oil from coal, the yanks have lots of that. The Germans did it in WWII. If they could do it 70 years ago, then we could do it now in event of emergency. I’m sure in this scenario, the first invasion will be to Oil fields to get what we need

    • I was thinking the same thing, only I dont know if you can really wake up masses of liberals. It seems their consciences are seared. They are “given over” to very strong delusion.

      This awakening experiences happen when you know you are going to die or to be put in serious risk instead of thinking that the other are going to “wake up” some day.

  3. If what ISIS and Boko Haram are doing is not according to Islam and they are giving a bad name to Islam, then what are these so called real Muslims waiting for??? Why don’t they join the fight to eliminate them??

    The fact is what these groups are doing is real Is Islam and that is why no Muslim group dare join the fight but they continue proclaiming loudly that this is not taught by Islam and this not real Islam!!

    Liars to the very core, they will never admit the truth about Islam!!

    • I agree with you Jaladhi.. If it wasnt a sick thing to say then I would tell you that I perhaps have more respect for the people doing the killing than the hypocrite muslims who condone this. With their silence they give consent!! They should all read their quran and see what fate awaits the hypocrite.

  5. 1Jo 5:16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

    We are not to pray for those who do such things.

    To behead a little boy? There’s no forgiveness for that. Ever.

    Num 35:31 Moreover ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death. [At the Judgment of God – Eternal death]

    I agree with King David. And this world can go ahead and judge me for it.

    I’ll never forgive those savages for doing such a wicked thing to that poor little boy. In fact, – I believe it would be a sin to do so. Guess I’ll find out at the Judgment.

    • Jesus forgave his executioners. Yakuba, a follower of Jesus, was doing the same.

    • Beth–How can we deal with pure evil?
      Pray for those stuck in Islam –only truth in Jesus can lead them out and change them. Many who are led out give their lives for proclamation of the gospel that saves. Pray for deliverance from evil for us in the west as we have been infiltrated and have lunatics in charge of our countries. We are entering another world wide time of darkness and brutality—pray for those who know Jesus to be bold and willing to die for the wicked. Only God can straighten things out–it has gone beyond mankind now. All those who love life have sad hearts, and we need to pray for those in Israel too as that tiny country has seething wickedness rising against it.

      • Along with prayer let us not overlook a healthy dose of self-defense and the willingness to eviscerate the perfumed façade of Islam to expose the true stench of its rotted core to the whole world.

        Let every Muslim in every nation come out publically into the streets and bow their heads in unison to abject shame of the unmitigated disgrace they follow, vomited up by the vile Muhammad’s mouth called Islam.

      • Tough, tough issues. Because Islam focuses aggressively against Jews and Christians for heinous genocide, understandable that we’d come here to share believers’ concerns and and join our thoughts with all people, religious or not, who oppose Islam’s evil. And yes, to the comment of W above, because I saw that same photo inadvertently on a site collecting news for Christians, I do think the woman was a Jesus follower with salvation and hand-picked by ISIS for the photo op. Also yes, some human depravity is so severe that nothing but a supernatural force of evil — Satan, demons — could explain it.

        Thank you for those who take the time to comment. Some of us may snark around a bit from time to time, but we’re only human and for the part I have in that as misdirected relief from the tension of knowing the dark depths about Islam, I apologize and ask forgiveness. My pastor just finished a 3-week session on Habakkuk, the Bible’s prophet and author of a short chapter of the Bible. The message was the honesty of complaining to God about oppressors, the gift of taunting not one another but taunting evil which does not win in the end, and the power of “yet” we will be joyful and sing (a spiritual capacity, different from happiness, because who could be happy about evil) “in God” our “Savior,” our “strength.” Jesus also said to pray to escape (or for the strength to escape, depending on the translation) the evil that’s coming in Luke’s version of the Olivet discourse.

        We’re doing a lot of praying.

        • I agree withnyour comment Sally. Its sometimes hard not to lash out at times in frustration at whatnwe see unfolding. Our Bible study groupmbegins a study on Luke Precept upon Precpt (Kay Arthur), precept Ministries. As I read through Luke I see Jesus say his Kingdom is not of this world. We are not to fear those who justmkill the body– It is not a natural thing for me to have the trust I need to live these days, nor to have a forgiving spirit– the only way is for me to continue to cry outnto God in my weakness and stay in the Word in these dark days. The man hackedmto piecesmwho like Christ said ” father forgive them”– wowmthis testimony shines into the darkness! His sacrifice is nothing to the eternal reward he will recieve. I have read Foxes Book Of Martyres and people in the piwer of the HS sang in the fires– we can do ths too if need be.

This past week Andrea Tantaros of FOX News said the only way to deal with those who decapitate and pillage is with a ‘bullet to the head-‘ now Muslims are in full victim mode demanding she be fired

  13. Ann Coulter was 100000% right: we need to kill their leaders, convert all Muslims to Christianity – only Jesus can save these people. At some point in the history of the earth Islam will be obliterated and it won’t be through human means, either.

    • I think the armies of nations need to rid themselves of Islamics esp. in the west, it does not fit with our culture. If they love Islam more than the west then they can move back east. Just say no to every form of Islam. Our culture is post Christian and therefore heading back into bondage though relativism which is maddening but we have choice still and that is where liberalism leads. About converting all Muslims to Christianity—it wont happen. It seems only a few choose Jesus these days. One intellectually and through the heart assents to the tenets of Christianity through Biblical understanding and the illumination by the Holy Spirit of God. There is no being forced. The aim though is to boldly proclaim the truth that Jesus is the only solution for mankind .

  15. I read on and on about how Christians are trying to compartmentalize the evil of islam. They try to rationalize how they can use the teachings of Jesus to deal with the wave of abject violence.

    Here’s the problem. Let’s face it Jesus Christ was a pacifist. (turn the other cheek, love your enemies etc.) islam came at a later date and was designed to defeat Christianity with force. As long as you are preoccupied with playing by the rules and regaining your brother or what have you we are doomed to fail and parish.

    Bullies respond to the CREDIBLE THREAT OF VIOLENCE no matter their religion or lack thereof. It doesn’t matter if it’s on the playground or the world stage. The sooner we embrace this concept the sooner a solution will be obtained.

  16. That young boy is a martyr…He tried to save his family from starvation only to be met with barbarity one can only imagine. Under excruciating torture he would not deny Jesus Christ his Saviour, and even forgave them. He is now in Heaven with God. Thank God for such inspirational people!!!! +
