Obama said it, so it must be true, right? My latest in PJ Media:
Last Sunday, in his message congratulating Muslims on Eid al-Fitr, the holiday marking the end of the fasting month of Ramadan, Barack Obama wrote: “Eid also reminds us of the many achievements and contributions of Muslim Americans to building the very fabric of our nation and strengthening the core of our democracy.” That’s right: he said “achievements and contributions.” I could only think of five. Maybe you will be able to think of some more.
5. Getting us here in the first place
This one predates the United States as a nation, but without it, the United States would not exist. Every schoolchild knows, or used to know, that in 1492 Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue and discovered America while searching for a new, westward sea route to Asia. But why was he searching for a new route to Asia? Because the fall of Constantinople to the Muslims in 1453 closed the trade routes to the East. This was devastating for European tradesmen, who had until then traveled to Asia for spices and other goods by land. Columbus’s voyage was trying to ease the plight of these merchants by bypassing the Muslims altogether and making it possible for Europeans to reach India by sea.
So the bellicosity and intransigence of Islam ultimately opened the Americas for Europe – and made the United States possible.
4. Slavery
Slavery is condoned in the Qur’an as well as the Bible, and has been taken for granted throughout Islamic history, as it was in the West until the advent of the great abolitionist movements in the U.S. and Britain. The opening of the transatlantic slave trade provided Muslim slave dealers in Africa with a lucrative new market – one that they cheerfully and energetically exploited.
One consequence of this has been claims by the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and other Islamic advocacy groups in the U.S. that the first Muslims in the U.S. were slaves imported from Africa. This, of course, feeds the sense of victimhood that CAIR so assiduously cultivates for the political power that it offers, but it cuts in the other direction as well: not only the slaves, but the slave traders who sold them to Europeans and Americans who brought them to the New World were Muslims, operating in accord with the sanction of slavery given by Muhammad and the Qur’an.
Arguably, then, if it weren’t for the Islamic slave industry on the African continent, there would have been no slavery in the New World, and none of the attendant national traumas that reverberate down to this day. This means, of course, that one way that Muslims have contributed to building the very fabric of our nation is by setting in motion the chain of events that led to ongoing racial tensions in the U.S., and ultimately to the election to the presidency of Barack Obama.
3. The Marines
“From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli…” The line from the Marines’ hymn commemorates the Marines’ actions during the First Barbary War (1801-1805), the first war the United States fought against Islamic jihadists. The war came about because President Thomas Jefferson refused to accede to the Barbary states’ demands for tribute payments – demands made in accord with the Qur’an’s dictum that the “People of the Book” must be made to “pay the jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued” (9:29). The Barbary pirates, also acting in accord with Islamic law regarding the kidnapping, enslaving and ransoming of non-Muslims, were seizing American ships and enslaving the crews, demanding exorbitant ransoms for their release.
The Marines put a stop to all that, and the line from the Marines’ hymn shows how pivotal their actions on the Barbary coast were to forming the Marine ethos. So for the Marines, too, we have Muslims to thank….

Thanks Obama, for the reminder of why we must boycott clothing manufactured by Muslim countries.

At first it was only in the muslim ghettos of Western nations that non-muslims were not welcome. Now it has come full circle, clearly muslims have never wanted to assimilate into their host country. Rather they wanted to convert them into another one of their wretched hives, by any means fair or foul. They are cunning and masterful at harnessing the freedoms and tolerance found in Western civilization to achieve their goals. Leftists, liberals, socialists and the like are only too happy to help their cause.

Mohammedans also contributed to the “fabric” of early Australia. Australia was declared as a Federation of States (New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia, Queensland, Tasmania, South Australia) in 1901. The first postage stamps of the federation were issued when the states finally ran out of their own stamps in 1913.
Just after this time we see an early contribution to the social “fabric” of Australia from Mohammedans:

Damn. I don’t think there is even an equivalent of that incident even here in US back then. So, these Pakis took their murderous beliefs down into Oz way back in 1874. Well, they’ve been at it since 832 AD, and the big steam boats were plying the waters of the East Indian Ocean at the time, so the Moslems were afforded the chance to obey the Holey Ko-Ran by the Infidels even then. Amazing story.

Just a short comment, the ‘slavery’ condoned in the old testament, and by proxy, the new, was actually ‘indentured servitude’, a short term condition until a debt owed was paid or forgiven….. To kidnap anyone, to sell or to hold, was a capital offence…
Oceanside says
Thank you, Western Canadian, for pointing out the truth about so-called “slavery” in the Bible. I’m surprised that Spencer would have made such an inaccurate generalization in this article. The Year of Jubilee (Lev 25, 27) extended to property rights as well.
What God prescribed for Israel–and those foreigners who chose to join her and follow His Law–is entirely different from the slavery Israelites endured in Egypt, where there was no provision for release from servitude. And entirely different from what the Qur’an teaches.

Wouldn’t it be great if it were true? True for these people in USA but heresy to the true Muslim everywhere else. These are now hypocrites in Islam and will be slated for death, of that I am certain.

Don’t forget that in the US, even those purchased from slave traders were initially indentured servants. That changed when Anthony Johnson, formerly an indentured servant himself who had been captured by another tribe and sold to slave traders, decided to hold John Casor past the agreed upon time. John escaped and a neighbor helped him get away. He put himself into servitude to another and Anthony took it to court. The court decreed that because they were both black, Anthony could keep John in perpetual servitude. Eventually that ruling changed so that anyone could keep a black person as chattel slave. So you see children, the problem is not the white man but the tribal mentality that allowed enslaving those from other tribes. But for Anthony, chattel slavery in the US may not have existed.

We now know with certainty that Prez Barack Hussein Obama is a liar, but the question remains whether he’s a *pathological* liar, in other words, that he actually believes the bullsheet falling from his lips. With the “If you like your doctor…” lie he did not believe it, because he’d been briefed that many if not most would lose their plans and doctors. But life is complex, and it could be that he both knowingly tells lies and tells lies from delusion.
On this one, my bet is on the latter kind of lie. Nobody but an idiot with the middle name Hussein can believe that Moslems can strengthen democracy here in the US, or anywhere else.
Jan Fourowls says
Figuring out Obama’s motivations — that’s a really tough one, hard to do about anybody. Reasonable minds can definitely agree to disagree on the topic of motivations where we’re looking at circumstantial evidence.
Let’s look at some circumstantial evidence about Obama and recent events. First, crucial context. CDC has this utterly non-lovely thing to say (not once but in two different ways for emphasis) on its website, which no press that I read referring to Obama’s recent Ebola decision picked up:
“Because the natural reservoir of ebolaviruses has not yet been proven, the manner in which the virus first appears in a human at the start of an outbreak is unknown. … During outbreaks of Ebola HF, the disease can spread quickly within health care settings (such as a clinic or hospital).”
“The natural reservoir host of ebolaviruses, and the manner in which transmission of the virus to humans occurs, remain unknown. This makes risk assessment in endemic areas difficult. [“endemic” includes this dictionary definition: “(of a disease or condition) regularly found among particular people or in a certain area.”] With the exception of several laboratory contamination cases (one in England and two in Russia), all cases of human illness or death have occurred in Africa; no case has been reported in the United States.” [written by CDC for its website before this past week]
Yesterday the U.S. became an endemic certain area with a confirmed Ebola case in Atlanta, and another one coming, so that now our public health risk assessment as an endemic area is “difficult” by the CDC’s own admission.
Let that one sink in for a moment as counterpoint to the very different message of the press which seemingly welcomes Ebola to the U.S. as did Obama.
Politicians rarely can be credited with tell all the truth even if they tell a partial truth (sometimes disinformation) about professed reasons for doing or not doing things. Journalists seem to have joined them. Meanwhile we suffer growing circumstantial evidence, acts and omissions, to reflect Obama’s deliberately opening up non-Muslim Americans to the danger-from-our-enemies zone (recently including the deadly highly infectious 90% fatal and incurable but 10% survivable Ebola virus Obama welcomed to transportation hub Atlanta).
Welcoming deadly Ebola to cross into our national borders when it had never been in an infectious human host in the U.S., not ever before, is something so aberrant and against infectious disease containment national protocols as to be mind-boggling — particularly when the best of the proven care treatments would have been to have the missionary and doctor stay in W. Africa for more of the blood transfusions from that small subset of Ebola survivors whose own bodies overcame the horrific otherwise incurable disease.
The doctor may have received sufficient cured-Ebola-patient transfusions in W. Africa — when he was consciousness-impaired from the worst of it — to result in his unexpectedly walking into the Atlanta hospital yesterday on his own two legs. Obama will probably and falsely credit this doctor’s survival, if it occurs, to bringing him for U.S. care in justification of the “humanitarian” excuse Obama used to put over 300 million Americans at public health risk of a disease against which the U.S. until yesterday had a national border-quarantine containment policy against Ebola sourced largely from Islamic W. Africa.
I read now that Obama’s amended an executive order to allow the federal government to apprehend and detain (and thereafter “conditionally release”) not only those with symptoms of Ebola but also acute respiratory symptoms now that he has allowed Ebola within our borders.
Before yesterday there were already CDC airborne precautions by CDC’s own website even for suspected Ebola because (1) Ebola’s airborne transmission has never been disproven no matter what media has said this past week, (2) indications of African airborne Ebola transmission appear on the CDC website’s Ebola outbreaks fact sheet, and (3) M.D. researchers with Canadian Public Health found evidence of pigs transmitting airborne Ebola in 2012.
On July 29, 2014 the National Geographic article on “deadly Ebola” by Karen Weintraub stated: “… it’s still in America’s interest to control the disease in West Africa ….” Also Ebola can go dormant between outbreaks for years, one scientific report saying as long as 15 years, so the cycles of epidemic outbreak after potentially lengthy dormancy cannot be predicted once the virus is transmitted. (Source: Natural Sciences: “Facts on Ebola Virus: Human and Animal Outbreaks.”) Oops, too late now, to our peril as Americans in the dormancy and outbreak cycles of the deadly Ebola virus.
Related to the Canadian Public Health research about airborne Ebola transmission through pigs, and Atlanta being Obama’s choice for Ebola’s first U.S. entry point, there are over 100 industrial pig farms in GA alone and many more throughout that region (some say with questionable waste disposal practices put at greater risk in stormy weather in the southeastern U.S.), not far from the ATL airport and vehicular interstate transportation hubs of Atlanta where Ebola was imported yesterday to the U.S.
Thus, this potentially airborne highly infectious 90% fatal pathogen — spread also as even WHO admits by profuse sweating, saliva spitting and drooling, projectile vomiting, vigorous blood-slinging convulsions and uncontrollable human waste as the entire organ system breaks down rapidly — with no known cure has never before yesterday’s open governmental door been in an actively infected human being in the U.S. at all, so certainly never before yesterday has Ebola in the U.S. ever been so near so many potential channels as transmission risks (ATL’s mega-airport, interstate highways and area pig farms).
If I could find this information in an efficient google search of CDC public documents and related scientific sources, is there any reason but there being an informal (Islamist?) propaganda bureau running (or threatening with harm) the global media which reported none of this? Making Goebbels look good? Oh how they must be laughing cruelly about potential Ebola transmission to non-Muslim Americans through pigs!
The corollary chance to apprehend and herd non-Muslim Americans whose noses are running (aka respiratory symptoms) into containment facilities — assuming what I read about the recent Executive Order is accurate — couldn’t be enough of a reason for Obama to have let Ebola into this country if he doesn’t have his own private undisclosed stash of curative medicine, could it?
Now either Obama has already sourced a viable vaccine or cure for himself and his pro-terrorist Islamic buddies including his brother Malik Obama, others in MB, West African Islamists generally, Hamas, Qatar of his last week’s $11 billion arms deal (etc.) – OR – when the Ebola-survivor blood-transfusion treatments aren’t even available to the Ebola-infected doctor and missionary in the U.S. (as they are in W. Africa), Obama was insanely self-destructive to have welcomed deadly Ebola into the U.S. down the seaboard from Washington, D.C.
Which do you think it is?

Nice summary of the effects that Islam and Moslems have had on American history. But it misses the mark. Obama referred to “the many achievements and contributions of Muslim Americans”; and none of the five were the work of Americans. So we’re back to square one. I’ve been trying to think of anything positive that Moslem Americans have contributed, and can’t think of any. There are plenty of achievements by Moslem Americans — the Beltway murders, the Fort Hood killings, the various bombings and attempted bombings — but none of these could be considered positive.

Muslim-Americans who follow the Quran’s intolerant and discriminatory directions for scheming and deceiving against non-Muslims are very good at propaganda, so therefore very valued as bureaucrats by the Obama administration.
How predictable that he’d honor them (secretly winking at what they know are the propaganda achievements).

Wellington, I also appreciate very much the caliber of your commenting here at JW. And I learn new things, too!
Thank you for so thoughtful and succinct an analysis of major differences between Quran and OT. It is especially useful to see your clarity about “condoned violence in the Old Testament is ordinarily descriptive while condoned violence in the Koran is always prescriptive.” And, yes, absolutely critical to contrast the scope of the land involved (Promised Land/Israel as needed to sustain life for Jews) versus the whole world which Islam seeks to conquer. You’ve stated it elegantly.
If you might indulge some commentary of a God-and-the-Devil variety (universal cosmological forces capable of relationship and personification by humans who are wired for the connection), it is consistent (1) with the character of God who loves people to want the Jews to honor connection with God and also to have enough (but not more) land as needed for a decent life, and (2) with the Bible’s description of the character of the Devil (through Allah) who hates people to want to conquer God’s entire global land mass torturing and killing human beings along the way.
Respecting your not being a religious man, I just have to note that if you were ever willing to reconsider, the Christians would be blessed by your being in our number.
If there are any Muslims who read JW comments as others have indicated occurs, please let me point out that Jesus came for everybody without exception who wants to accept the relationship. No sin is too big for Jesus to forgive as the start to a repentant life of joy and constructive accomplishment. The real Jesus, not the weird Isa-Jesus of the Quran who has no divine power to forgive squat, can change your life, which you’ll never know is true unless you make the request personally to surrender not to any human but to the divine relationship with Jesus Christ. Instead of reading the Bible, if you’re sick and tired of the Quran which I can thoroughly understand and not wanting to pick up another text from centuries ago, a good modern place for Muslims to start reading would be anything by Lee Strobel, the Yale lawyer turned journalist turned Christian pastor (a guy with many options). Lee’s credible not only by the rigor of his education but also because he had so many options and converted to Christianity from atheism well into adulthood. His titles include: The Case for a Creator, The Case for Faith, The Case for Christ, The Case for the Real Jesus, The Case for the Resurrection, and a little pocket-sized number, The Case for Easter: A Journalist Investigates the Evidence for the Resurrection.
If Lee Strobel could get to Jesus Christ from atheism, so can any Muslim make the change to Christianity – just saying for any Muslim readers. Our heaven’s better, too! (So good the human mind cannot even conceive of its transcendent joyousness, so good we only get short heavenly glimpses in dreams or near-death experiences of ineffable happiness and well being, so good we’d never renounce our faith even if you had the sword to our necks, much as the earliest Christian martyrs died singing songs to God.) Don’t you at some small but true place deep within you want to quit fighting and move to the winning side?
That’s my Sabbath concession to the article of my faith as a Christian that says I’m to love my enemies. Not capitulate to them, not let them lie through their teeth about Islam without protest, but, hard though it is and as much as I need the help of Jesus Christ to do it, to love them. Aaaargh!
