A Saudi father smuggled his two children into Syria to join the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) after he made his way with them to Syria via Turkey, Al Arabiya News Channel reported.
Photos showing Abed al-Shayeq, 11, and Ahmed al-Shayeq, 10, posing with their father in front of an ISIS banner have been widely shared on social media, days after their mother resorted to Twitter to voice her concerns.
The mother received a text-message Monday from the father asking her to consider her children “birds in paradise,” a phrase used to describe “martyred” children.
One of the sons is shown in the picture holding an AK-47 in one hand, a grenade in the other.
Further, social media accounts affiliated with the ISIS posted that the two boys will “receive the necessary training before being sent to the battlefield.”
The father initially told the mother he was taking the two boys on a trip to one of the Gulf countries, when in fact he was making his way to Syria through Turkey, Al Hayat Newspaper reported.
Since the children were in their father’s company upon their arrival to Turkey, they would not have been considered kidnapped under Turkish law, Saudi Ambassador Adel Murad in Ankara told Al Arabiya News Channel on Friday.
The man kidnapped the children following a dispute with his wife, whom he is separated from, Al Watan newspaper reported.
As part of measures to stop citizens from joining terrorist groups abroad, Saudi authorities recently issued orders for the incarceration of four men suspected of aiding others in their travel to Syria to join ISIS fighters.

That almost certainly means that this is not the actions of one unhinged guy—ISIS is going to accept sacrificial children *as young as ten* to train as Jihadists, and sacrifice in the battlefield or as suicide bombers.
And this is not the first we’ve heard of ISIS using child soldiers.
Nor is this just ISIS—Boko Haram has been using kidnapped children as soldiers and as suicide bombers.

IMO, there is something “off” with this story. The father is not identified. He told his estranged wife he was taking the boys “on a trip to one of the Gulf countries.” Was mom okay with dad taking the boys on a trip following the “dispute?”
The article makes no mention of dad’s allegiance to ISIS.
I don’t know. This sounds more like a fucked-up domestic dispute. Too many critical details are lacking. The photo is taunting, as is the “birds in paradise” text. Sure sounds like the bastard is tormenting his ex.
I can’t find anything more on this story…I only stumble across this same article. Not sure I can buy it at face value…

I’m not quite sure what you mean, here, Ashley. Are you suggesting it is just a hoax, perpetrated by this Saudi man, to torment his wife, and that he *hasn’t* actually taken the children to Syria, at all ?
I don’t think the two things are mutually exclusive. We certainly know that ISIS is using children as fighters, and suicide bombers, as is Boko Haram. And there is the horror picture of the little seven year old boy, holding up a severed head.
Also, if one can bear to watch, there are numerous jihadist videos on youtube, showing children being encouraged to behead prisoners.

I agree it is odd the man has not been identified, but I don’t think the fact that he hasn’t, necessarily calls into question the truth of the story; as we have seen, ISIS and Boko Haram **do** use children in this way, and this has been well documented.
As for the mother; well, this is Saudi Arabia. Mothers have little to no legal rights over their children in that hell-hole, and if her ex-husband decided to take the children, there would be nothing she could do about it, certainly nothing legally.
You may be right, however, that this is just a cruel example of a vicious ex-husband taunting his estranged wife; God knows that would be better than the ghastly actuality of these poor kids being trained as murderers, and forced into fighting.

I don’t think this is a hoax…just shitty reporting. Hard to vet this account without “daddy’s” name in the article.
I believe this account could very well be true and accurate, but poorly presented. I just don’t understand why the children were named, but not their father.

We’re in an age in which there is a terrible abuse of minors. One we see here, in a father putting his own preteen sons in mortal danger (he needs a millstone tied around his neck and getting dropped in the nearest large body of water). Another is the “children” (95% teens) appearing on the US’s southern border. What do we make about parents who let their kids cross the Sonoran and Chihuahua Deserts with no adult supervision save for coyotes, who aren’t exactly forgiving towards people who miss a payment? And, finally, it is the consensus of the highest legal and academic experts that, Frank Lombard notwithstanding, homosexual men make just wonderful parents.
The mention of Turkey, and how the boys would not be considered abducted under Turkish law, makes me wonder all the more about Erdogan’s role in the misery to the south of his country.
Reading this and the earlier article with a kid being given a severed head to play with has given me an increasingly uncomfortable feeling that, perhaps–and may God forbid that this is so–that there may even now be nations worthy of the annihilation that overcame the Canaanites. But against the use of child fighters by ISIS and its supporters, I tremble as well when I consider the immoral revolution that had been going on in the Western world since the 1960’s.
