Syria: Muslims force Christian to accept Islam, then behead him

Maybe they didn’t think he was sincere — and he may not have been, but his denial of his faith and his people did not save his life. He was murdered as a warning to “everyone like him,” and it is a good warning for appeasement-minded Western accommodationists to bear in mind: giving the jihadis what they want and bowing down to them will not, ultimately, keep them from turning on you.

A Christian man in Syria recently had his head brutally hacked off by Islamic militants after being forced to deny his faith and salute Mohammed as “the messenger of God”.

The incident was caught on video for the world to see and broadcast as a warning to “everyone like him”.

In the video that was posted to YouTube with translated captions, the helpless Christian man is surrounded by armed militants wearing masks and he is heard reciting as instructed: “There is no God but God and I testify that Mohammed is the messenger of God.”

An apparent leader in the group of militants is then heard instructing the group: “No one will shoot him now, do you understand? He will not be killed by shooting because it is merciful for him.”

“He will be beheaded because he is Kaffir, non-Muslim, sided [with] the government and was not praying at all. Everyone like him will have the same end, beheading,” said the militant.

A militant armed with a machete then grabs the defenseless man by the hair and begins to cut his head from his body as the group cries “Allahu Akbar…there is no God but God.”

The 2014 report from the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom highlights Syria among several countries where being a Christian can be extremely hazardous due to terrorist and extremist Muslim threats.

“Extremist groups and terrorist organizations, including al-Qaida and ISIL, also are perpetrating egregious religious freedom violations. They espouse violence and the creation of an Islamic state with no space for diversity, and have carried out religiously-motivated attacks and massacres against Alwaite, Shi’a, and Christian civilians,” explained the document in highlighting conditions in Syria.

“NGO’s report that several different anti-regime opposition groups have established Shari’ah courts in areas they control. Recently ISIL, a terrorist organization not aligned with the internationally-recognized opposition, announced that the approximately 3,000 Christians in Raqqa province must either face death, convert to Islam, or be treated as dhimmis (non-Muslim citizens of an Islamic state) who must pay a tax for their ‘protection’ and obey serious restrictions on their religious practices,” it continued.

The report further noted that Bishop Boulos Yazigi of the Greek Orthodox Church and Bishop John Ibrahim of the Assyrian Orthodox Church are still missing since they were kidnapped by unknown assailants in the Northern province of Aleppo in April 2013.

Some 13 nuns and three workers from a Greek Orthodox monastery in the Christian village of Maaloula, who were kidnapped by the al-Nustra Front in late November 2013, were finally freed on March 9, 2014.

Al-Nusra took over Maaloula in September 2013 and their fighters reportedly attacked Christian homes killing at least a dozen people, and burning down a church. Those who remained were forced to convert to Islam according to the report.

    • I have e-mailed the white house asking Obama to never give these barbarians our tax payer dollars again. I urge anyone who reads this to do the same although I am certain it falls on deaf ears. My vote didn’t go to Obama and it will never go to someone that gives my tax money to people who can commit an atrocious act such as this.

  4. Some months ago I read in a repot in a Spanish Catholic news portal about two young men of the Greek Catholic Church of Damascus who were crucified for refusing to convert and told that they could imitate “their leader”.

    I read somewhere that the ebola virus is being passed on to humans due to bestiality among other reasons. I am wondering if bestiality is common among Muslims. Any idea?

    • I am sure their bestiality is kept under the cover of darkness. However, I do know that MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) has been traced to camel urine. Muhammed is said to have recommended drinking it to improve one’s health so, yes, some Muslims do drink camel urine….straight from the tap sometimes.

    Reports coming in from Sinjar, a small town that was once home to Iraqi minority community, Yazidis, suggest that the Islamic State militants are carrying out a “genocide” in the town.
    For the Sunni militants, the Yazidis are a race of “devil worshipers” and killing them would only amount to a “holy act.”
    The 4,000-year-old religious group has faced persecution for centuries for its unique belief and practices.
    Earlier on Sunday, the Islamic State captured the town after driving away the Kurdish forces in the region. Witnesses claim that the militants are executing dozens of Yazidis for refusing to convert to Islam.
    The Gulf News report claimed that 67 young men were shot dead by the militants. Besides executing the Yazidis, the Al Qaeda offshoot, is also reportedly taking Yazidi women for “jihad” marriage.

Of course there are decent, moderate muslims but as an American journalist pointed out, they are irrelevant, just as the decent, moderate Germans were irrelevant in Nazi Germany, Cambodians in the time of Pol Pot etc. We need to be concerned by the spread of fanatical Islam, where life is cheap and those who espouse the warped version of the religion have no regard for humanity.

    I’m sorry I missed seeing it—or, on second thought, maybe I’m not…

    In any case, thanks for posting the cute video—sometimes we have to take a break and remember how much good stuff there still is in the world.

  21. Forced conversions under physical threat have NO place among any religion professing to worship God, nor does it WORK effectively. History has shown over-and-over down through time that forced conversions are only SKIN-DEEP. Here are examples from earliest to most recent history, from various religions:

    -When the Maccabean John Hyrcanus subdued the Idumaeans, he “permitted them to remain in their country so long as they had themselves circumcised and were willing to observe the laws of the Jews.” The inhabitants had to convert to Judaism or else their cities would be razed. Jewish scholar Menahem Stern wrote: “The conversion of the Idumeans was the first of its kind, as it was of an entire race rather than a few individuals.” How GENUINE was the attachment of Idumaean King Herod to the Law of Moses, for instance? (Just the fact that he tried to have the infant Jesus killed by ordering mass murder of baby boys, is revealing.)

    -Charlemagne conquered the pagan Saxons of northern Europe and brutally forced them to convert. Did the en masse forced baptisms have real MEANING?

    -The Russian ruler Vladimir I decided that his subjects must become Orthodox Christians. He decreed mass baptisms of his people—at sword point if necessary! Were those at sword point SINCERELY symbolizing their dedication?

    -The Crusaders who invaded Estonia in the 13th century forced the Catholic religion on the people by the edge of the sword. Likewise, native peoples of MANY lands were forced to convert, yet some kept their own religious practices in private or more often, incorporated them into the Catholic religion rather than give them up.

    -In the 1500’s, Europe was a DANGEROUS place for religious dissenters! Many who challenged Catholic church doctrines underwent horrific experiences at the hands of their Inquisition to root out what they called: “Heresy”. If so, why did many people go into hiding, leave home and country, or choose torture or even to be burned at the stake—rather than convert to their persecutors’ religion?

    -Jehovah’s Witnesses were forced to make a dire choice by Hitler to either renounce their faith or go to Concentration Camps/execution. They overwhelmingly chose the Concentration Camps–with the unique understanding that unlike they could walk out at any time–as long as they signed the form giving up their faith, which they would rather suffer and often die, than give up. (Stalin later forced Jehovah’s Witnesses with a similar ultimatum: Renounce their faith or have their homes and property immediately confiscated and be sent to Hard Labor Camps in Siberia. They chose Siberia.)

    -Today, ISIS is forcing Coptic Orthodox Christians and others to accept Islam–or else die–often in a horrific way. (The brutality of ancient Ninevah seems to be recurring near that area.) But, they will NEVER reach the heart with FORCED conversions; worship will only be skin-deep when under compulsion.

    If only all would take a lesson from the past, history might quit repeating itself! While I feel it’s true that the decision of how we should worship God deserves more of our time and effort than any other decision in life; the only way to make a TRUE heart-felt conversion is to invite people to VOLUNTARILY study the tenets of you faith, while respecting the rights of others to reject

    It has to be LOVE for God that moves one to serve him. Better to persuade with scriptural reasoning rather than at gunpoint. If ISIS doesn’t want to do it because it’s more loving, one can only hope that perhaps they’ll quit forcing conversions it because it’s less effective if they want SINCERE adherents of their faith.

  22. The only Christian religions I’m aware of who don’t war with others are Jehovah’s Witnesses and Amish (and to a lesser degree, Quakers). Jain is the only non-Christian religion I’m aware of which practices non-violence. These are the only religions so far, worth my investigation, if I feel war and violence against others is disapproved by God.

    In the world of Islam, the Bible consists of the books known as the Torah, the Psalms, and the Gospel. At least 64 verses of the Koran speak of these books as the Word of God and emphasize the need to read them and to carry out their commands. Interestingly, many Muslims–and all other violent religions (including most Christian religions)–outright ignore and disobey the command at Isaiah 2:1-5 not to learn war anymore.

    (Some assert that the Torah, the Psalms, and the Gospel have been changed. However, to say this is to ignore the words of the Koran and to say that God cannot preserve his Word.)
