Is truth breaking out in the mainstream media? For years, this question has not been allowed to be asked. Even at Fox, commentators routinely affirm that the problem is that “radicals” who have “hijacked” Islam. But once one has been pounded on the head with it a few thousand times, the truth cannot be hidden even from the most committed mainstream media ideologue. Will CNN reprimand Lemon for having this discussion?

The relentless and savage advance of Islamist terrorists throughout the Middle East — and especially the beheading of two American journalists by ISIS — seems to have made an impression on CNN’s Don Lemon, who on Wednesday night asked a panel if Islam is “a more violent religion than any other faith?”
“Let’s talk about it,” Lemon began, “and let’s just be very honest about it. This is a discussion that’s happening, really cross the world… Is Islam a more violent religion than other faiths?”
Two of Lemon’s three panelists — and even Lemon himself — seemed to agree with the contention that Islam is inherently prone to violence in a way Christianity, Judaism or other major religions are not.
“I believe there are certain areas in Islam that need to be reinterpreted, otherwise you will face violence in the end,” said author Tawfik Hamid, noting that Islam “has not reformed yet” like other religions. “I believe with the literal understanding of it, and with its history as written in Shari’a books, today it is more violent.”
“Yes, it must be,” said Tom Fuentes, a former FBI assistant director. “Otherwise how could all these groups take the name of Islam to become violent and do what they do?”
“They’re the ones that call themselves Islamists!” Fuentes continued. “They’re the ones, ISIS, calling themselves the Islamic State. We didn’t pin that name on them… So if they’re interpreting the teachings of the prophet, the teachings of the Qur’an, and they’re twisting it, they’re putting it on. But the fundamental basis is that they’re calling themselves Islamic and then cutting people’s heads off.”
Only one guest, Islamic Monthly editor Arsalan Iftikhar, disagreed. “First of all, I find it absolutely astounding that a former assistant director of the FBI would say that Islam is a more violent religion than most other religions,” he began, noting “Christianist” organizations like the Lord’s Resistance Army in Africa and Christians “bomb[ing] gay nightclubs and abortion clinics” in the United States.
But Lemon pushed back against that comparison. “By saying that Islam is more violent than any other religion, it doesn’t mean that other religions aren’t violent,” he explained. “We’re talking about history and the reality here. If you’re looking at the bombing of abortion clinics, you’re not looking at the numbers of a 9/11, you’re not looking at the numbers of a Boko Haram, you’re not looking at the many people who are killed from ISIS and beheaded.”
Indeed so. What’s more, the Lord’s Resistance Army is funded by Sudanese jihadis, and reflects a Christian theology that is held by no Christian sect anywhere — in stark contrast to the undeniable fact that all the mainstream sects of Islam and schools of Islamic jurisprudence teach warfare against and subjugation of unbelievers. And the abortion clinic bombings, which were only a handful in any case, were repudiated and rejected by every Christian body — and while they were doing it, they weren’t actually teaching a theology that justified such bombings, again in contrast to the Muslim groups that have repudiated the Islamic State while teaching essentially the same understanding of Islam that it represents.
It will come as a surprise to no one to learn that Iftikar formerly worked for Hamas-linked CAIR.

Sometimes it can take weeks or months to determine a motive. But when it comes to ruling out terrorism, the police (here in the US the FBI) can rule out terrorism before the victim has reached ambient temperature and sometimes before they reach the scene.

A bit- but in my view, not that much-off topic.
Since, in Britain, handgun and other gunes (rifles, shotguns, etc) are (I was told and have read) not allowed to be owned by citizens (I would guess, like in New York, if you are a member of the ” right set” and “connected” one can get a permit- but that is off even my point).
Since this woman, and the late Mr. Rigby were killed by machetes and/or knifes ( and, I am sure that in many of the rapes and gang rapes, the same-probably knives, were used)- why aren’t the “progressive” assholes asking for a ban on machetes and knives? (In NYC, a little less then a year ago, there were mass stabbings; I was waiting for Bloomberg-compared to De Blassio, he was conservative- to declare knives illegal–but, he did not).

Yes Robert it appears after many years, and many Muslims publicly quoting the Quran for justification of murder, has acted as a sort of birthing forceps for Don’s recto-cranial extraction regarding the special properties of Islam to inculcate savagery.
It was a close one though, I’ve seen a few reports by Don, one posted here even a few years ago which lead me to believe Don’s head was inexorably lodged in his ass.

Let’s open the debate:
The real question for western moderates – if that version is not the real Islam – how do so many people keep getting it wrong. Even of Muslim states, which imprison people for leaving Islam – and act to forcibly convert others.
For the reformist Muslim – a rarer breed – wish we could see more honesty – and less denials and scapegoating. The CIA can’t be blamed for everything! Muslims have got to take responsibility.
We need more people – who can stand up to the name calling – and attacks on their person – being called a ‘racist’ goes with the territory – at the moment.
And we do need to examine / fine tooth comb Islam’s horrible history – just as we did with the history of Christianity. What ISIS is doing today – looks a carbon copy of Islam’s history. This is only ~ it happening again.

Yes, there is still too much tu quoque reasoning and ignorance of what religions other than Islam have in their theological blueprint, as demonstrated by Tom Fuentes, formerly with the FBI, but it would be unrealistic to think that most everyone is going to “get” Islam in its entirety all at once. It will take more time (damn shame though this is the reality) for it to sink in completely that Islam is a religion like no other, that it is also a totalitarian ideology, that it is deep bad news for liberty and that it needs to be accorded no respect—–indeed that it fully deserves to be looked upon as a giant negative for all mankind.
Gettin’ there. Much more misery and death unfortunately because mankind won’t get there sooner rather than later, but there is no way that Islam will be looked upon more positively as the years roll on. Quite the opposite in fact. I would even claim that this is a guarantee.

Social media suggests more and more people are beginning to read up on Islam and have drawn their own conclusions. When Catholicism was reformed in the 15th-16th Centuries, the purpose of the Reformation was to return Christianity to its spiritual roots since the Church had become corrupted by its involvement in earthly affairs and the pursuit of earthly power.
