This is based on exactly the same principle that fuels the jihad against Israel: any land once governed by the Muslims belongs by right to the Muslims forever: “And kill them wherever you find them and drive them out from wherever they have driven you out…” (Qur’an 2:191)
“Jihadists want Al-Andalus back, says Spanish terrorism analyst,” by Paola Del Vecchio, ANSAmed, September 5, 2014 (thanks to Insubria):
SEPTEMBER 5 – Al-Andalus is still considered by jihadists as Muslim territory, international terrorism analyst Fernando Reinares told ANSA in an interview.
Both Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State (IS) see it as ”under Spanish and Portuguese occupation”, and this leads to a greater risk of terrorism in the area, the senior analyst for the Real Instituto Elcano – the most prestigious center for strategic studies of Spain – told ANSA. Author of the book ‘Matadlos! Quien estuvo detras dell’11-M y porqué se asentó en Espana’ (‘Kill them! Who was behind 3/11 and Why Spain was Targeted’), published by Galaxia Gutenberg in 2014, Reinares said that the Iberian peninsula is a prime target for the two transnational jihadist networks. The Al-Andalus region was under Arab domination for eight centuries. The analyst noted that ”even in the writings of the Al-Qaeda founders there are direct and indirect references to Spain, which go beyond the usual anti-Western sentiments voiced by the ideologues of global jihad.” ”One of them, Abdullah Azzam, published a highly influential pamphlet in 1987 on the religious duty of jihad, in which he urged Muslims to use it to retake Al-Andalus, as if it were still a Muslim dominion under occupation. This was the origin of the allusions to Al-Andalus made in 1994 by former Al-Qaeda leader Bin Laden, and his successor Al-Zawahiri. The members of the local cell that planned and carried out the March 11 attacks in Madrid called themselves the ‘Brigade in Al-Andalus’, or the ‘Al-Andalus Brigade’.” Q: In March, Interior Minister Jorge Fernandez Diaz said that Spain was one of the strategic objectives of the global holy war, but there haven’t been any attacks since March 11, 2004.
Why is this? A: The bombs on the regional trains in Atocha killed 191 and injured over 1,800. It was the most lethal attack in a Western country since 9/11 and shows, without a shadow of a doubt, that our nation is a target of global terrorism. It is true that the jihadist narrative refers to Spain, due to the ancient Al-Andalus, in a different way that other Western countries. But it is also true that Spain has stood out – since the mid-1990s – as one of the European countries where more jihadists have been arrested and more cells dismantled. Q: But can you say that it is now the European country at the most risk from the Islamic State? A: No, Spain and Italy are not at the moment the European nations most affected by jihadist mobilization linked to the conflict in Syria an Iraq. The most exposed, in absolute and relative terms, are France, the UK, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands, where the Muslim population is made up of mostly the children and grandchildren of immigrants from Muslim-majority nations. However, Spain and Italy are in the Western Mediterranean, where over half of the jihadists that have joined Jabhat Al-Nusra and, especially, the Islamic State, in Syria and Iraq are from. This leads to new breeding grounds and, obviously, greater potential risk of terrorism.” (ANSAmed).

The natives (who managed to drive back muslim invaders) are “occupying” their own ancestral lands while giving muslims freedom to practice their religion? Oh, the humanity!!!
A couple of months ago I saw an interview with General Roldán, the director of CNI (Spanish intelligence). When asked about ISIS he gave the usual “we’re keeping an eye on it” but he also said that for years the CNI focused on homegrown terrorism (separatists) not because they wanted to but because they were told so by the government.
I spent my fair share of time in Spain and Portugal. From what I’ve seen there, neither of them has any sort of love for moors, muslims or islam and they won’t go down without a fight.

They won’t “go down”! Your words imply there is a chance they might. Islamists are silly, posturing men with the mental maturity of teenagers: boastful, and worried about their manhood. Islamists are only effective in Muslim lands, because there, religious superstitions rule the collective mind with adrenaline-powered paranoia; and this in turns makes many Muslims ineffective in fighting against the truly extreme among them; and that is because their supersitions render them paralysed with fear. Please note Kurds are not thus affected. But, to get back to Spain: the population of Spain is 47 million, and the Muslims are about 1.5 million. Spanish people are generally well-educated, so they know their problems with Muslim radicals better than outsiders. If I were a Muslim living in Spain, the brags by Islamists about “taking Spain” would make me very nervous. The town in which I live in Spain when I am there has as its town symbol, three Arabs buried to their necks on a beach, while in the distance three Arab ships beat a hasty retreat.
Cheers!

Agreeing with Angemon. History is a non-issue for the Arabs : they dismiss the fact that they were not there in the beginning :
1º : they conquered only half (the south) of Portugal, previously invaded by Visigoths, Romans, and Celts – the ancestral natives.
The Arabs never won the northern part of the country, anyway.
2º : their conquest lasted 4 centuries only -Spain’s lasted 8 – till the Moors were defeated and thrown out of Portugal in successive battles by King Afonso Henriques the Great , (quote) : ‘ … who achieved the independence of the County of Portugal, from the spanish King of León, in 1139, establishing a new kingdom and doubling its area with the Reconquista, an objective that he pursued until his death, in 1185, after forty-six years of wars against the Moors’.(Wikipedia)

Totalitarian ideologies like secular fascism, Marxism, and spiritual fascism, i.e., Islam, have many things in common. One of them is that they all fear and hate liberty.
Another is that they single out certain groups for second-class status or death, only the grouping varies depending on the totalitarian ideology being implemented. A secular fascist ideology like Nazism does it with ethnic groups; Marxism does it with socio-economic groups and Islam does it with non-believers. This particular feature of all totalitarian ideologies is one of the basic sources of the evil that can be found in all of them.
Yet another common characteristic of totalitarian ideologies, the one that pertains to the subject of this particular article at JW, is that they look upon what land they at any time controlled as absolutely theirs for all time, but what is others’ land is up for grabs (what’s mine is mine, what’s yours isn’t really yours). This last named characteristic also serves as an indicator of yet another characteristic of totalitarian ideologies and that is they all exhibit a decided control-freak element. And aren’t some of the most annoying persons you’ve ever met in your life control freaks? Well, just one more reason why totalitarian ideologies are so annoying——-for instance, Islam.

As in France, so in Spain, the left loves muslims as they want to get their votes. Spian as Italy is facing the problem of “boat people” coming from Morocco and Algeria and the subsaharan region, mostly muslims of course. The left has alot in common with islam.

I think another question would be, would the colonies come home to fight for the homeland as in the English speaking world? in other words if Spain and Portugal were threatened would they see help from perhaps the Cuban, Mexican, Argentinian, Brazilian Armies etc?At this juncture in history, I would hope so!

I guess nower days, between Portugal and Spain, both together with around 55milion inhabitants and two great army’s with with great special forces, tradition and history and well armed, the fucking jihadist will be in a lot of trouble to get us our heads cut off.
Personally I’m sick and tired of those rats making this propaganda trying to scare us and cut us off from our freedom and our peaceful and great way of living.

This kind of allegation goes back to (at least) 2009, well into the time of the previous portuguese PM who, . Meanwhile, last time I heard from Portugal and the portuguese police, police was complaining because they feel the government is undermining their work an standing, and people felt an increasing level of insecurity. It’s hard to run a police state when the police is against the state.

The CDU is a coalition of left-aligned political parties, including the portuguese communist party, whose symbol is the sickle and the hammer, so it’s very likely it shows up in their campaigns, conventions and advertising. As for your claim that CDU is running the show, the current PM comes from a center-right party supported by a conservative christian party. Together they have parliament majority. While CDU may do well in the south, on the grand scheme of things they’re the political equivalent of a bench-warmer.
Frankly, if you’re so shocked for seeing posters with the symbol of the communist party, you might feel better under the pre-revolution fascist regime, who outlawed communism.

and as far as I know, the CDU has been losing votes in elections, regularly. The Portuguese, as it seems to me, are wise : sure enough they have learnt the lesson right after the 1974 april revolution, when a brief interlude of the communists at the gov’t came to an end thanks to the support of military elite -enthusiastically welcome by the citizens .
