He showed a photo of “Palestinian” children playing next to a rocket launcher, substantiating his charge that the “Palestinians” use human shields. They try to provoke civilian casualties they can exploit for propaganda purposes. “Today the Jewish state is demonized with the apartheid libel and charges of genocide.” Bravo for calling the liars out.
“Abbas responsible for Hamas war crimes, Netanyahu says,” by Joshua Davidovich, Times of Israel, September 29, 2014:
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is speaking at the United Nations General Assembly Monday.
Before leaving for New York, Netanyahu told reporters he would “refute all of the lies being directed at us,” referencing a Friday address by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in which he accused Israel of carrying out genocide during its military campaign in Gaza….
PM says UN’s human rights council is sending a message to terrorists that they can use civilians as a human shield by giving Hamas a pass while criticizing Israel.
Netanyahu calls the Human Rights Council a terrorist rights council, and says the UN’s human rights council is an oxymoron, and says it’s connected to anti-Semitism.
Listing a number of anti-Semitic incidents, he notes that they are not the result of Israel’s policies, and speaks of fears that it is now entering polite society.
“Today the Jewish state is demonized with the apartheid libel and charges of genocide.”
“In what moral universe does genocide include warning the civilians to get out of harm’s way,” he asks, adding a number of Israel’s other efforts during the Gaza conflict….

Over all it looked to be a good speech.
Israel’s leaders need to come up with a better formulation than, “Militant Islam (or Islamism) is on the march….”It is not Islam. It is militant Islam…” said Prime Minister Netanyahu.
Maybe that phraseology (“it is not Islam”) will make Barack Obama happy. Maybe not. It does not make me happy. Militant Islam I suppose is better than Obama’s ISIS does NOT represent Islam or any religion.
If not Islam is on the march, how about Islamic jihad is on the march?
The camera panned out into the UN audience. Lots of empty seats. Perhaps it is militant Islamists and their supporters who left the building before the prime minister began speaking.

Somehow (especially) Israel’s spokesmen (women) and diplomats have to convey that truth — Islam is Islam — in as much as Israel is on the front lines fighting this scourge.
Telling the United Nations, the American people and the world at large, Hamas, Islamic State, Muslim Brotherhood, al-Qaeda, etc., do not represent Islam or authoritative Islam is NOT helpful.
Larry S says
John-
Islam is not a monolithic entity- far from it. Neither you, nor I, nor Mohammad al-Jihadi know what Islam will look like in 100 years.
I find any debate about whether or not “Islam is Islam” to be a rather sterile one. But I find the claim- sometimes made on these boards- that there are no “moderate Moslems” to be absurd (uh, not that it’s necessarily a trivial matter to identify them). Here is an example of a gentleman- and ex-jihadi- whom I would cite as an example:
http://www.jerusalemonline.com/news/world-news/the-israeli-connection/watch-muslim-zionist-proudly-defends-israel-8217?utm_source=contactology&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=DailyNewsletter
Peter Buckley says
Nobody is saying there are no “moderate muslims”.
But these muslims are simply ignoring , and in some cases actually opposing, the most important element :jihad. Muslims who publicly oppose Sharia are still at risk, even in the West:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BrueU4xd2w
What is more or less common knowledge by now is that the only “moderate Islam” is the one that was buried and abrogated as soon as Muhammad took control of Medina. As Raymond Ibrahim points out:” Moderate Islam is an oxymoron”:
http://www.raymondibrahim.com/islam/why-moderate-islam-is-an-oxymoron/
The problem is, as soon as people start to address some of the horrendous teachings of Muhammad, the other side, the multiculturalists, reply: “Yes, but the vast majority of muslims…..”, thereby avoiding the root of the problem.
Muslims kill each other in the name of Islam, so obviously “muslims” are not the same thing as “Islam”. Beliefs are not the same thing as people.

Oh, good grief, Larry S.
Sure—Islam *could* change over the next 100 years.
But it hasn’t changed at all over the past *1,400 years*, so this doesn’t seem all that likely.
In fact, Islam has been amazingly “monolithic”—the same horrors turn up over and over again. Violent Jihad, slavery and sex slavery, pedophilia, the imposition of Shari’ah—and this happens all over the world.
And right now Islam is experiencing a savage revival—so your hopes for reform seem pretty damn slim.
Meanwhile, pious Muslims are committing genocide, enslaving Infidel women, and *beheading journalists and aid workers*. Moreover, they are now beheading victims *in our own streets*.
Let us know how your waiting for Islam to reform works out for you…

That was basically my only quibble with Netanyahu’s speech, wildjew, the fact that he made a distinction between militant Islam and Islam. I still see, though, a lot of progress. A decade ago or so I doubt an Israeli Prime Minister would have even put “Islam” in a phrase. It would have been, you know, the standard use of the word “terrorism” with no modifier. I like to think a decade from now, it will just be “Islam.” If so, then complete accuracy will be prevailing.
Mirren10 says
Hi, Wellington.
I don’t see that Bibi has a lot of choice. Israel is surrounded by bloodthirsty and hateful enemies, and her supposed ally, the US, is equivocal at best.
What is Netanyahu to do ? Nothing, except to continue telling the truth, and hope that some of it will filter through.
I’m a cynical old agnostic, but if there is anything/anyone to pray to, my prayers are directed toward Bibi, that he may continue to have the courage to tell the truth in the face of the howling, grunting, filthy mob, who will work with islam in order to destroy every decent thing on the face of the earth.

It’s not militants. It’s not Islam. It’s militant Islam…..”
For me, talking about honestly about Islam has been a work in progress. R. Spencer has been doing it for years under intense scrutiny. Little doubt he has had to grapple with language as there are “land mines” nearly everywhere. There are enemies who out there waiting for Spencer and others to slip; to put things the wrong way or in a clumsy way. “Militant Islam” maybe isn’t so bad. To say these are not militants is fine but to say this is NOT Islam is not honest and it is misleading.

Nitanyahu said about as much as he could because of the view practiced by the Obama administration. The differences in views was highlighted but not exacerbated. It was a very good speech. The element I thought was missing was the fact that the “minorities” referred to in the speech were Christians. That is an important ally of Jews in this struggle.

Agreed, Wellington and Mirren.
Netanyahu does have a short way to go in understanding—or at least in fully expressing—the truth about the Jihad threat.
That being said, he is *far and away* the sharpest and most morally courageous Western leader today.

Yes. Those who are concerned about the problem of Islam really need to graduate along the Learning Curve; and one of the hallmarks of that advancement is to shed this silly distinction between Islam and all the cacophemisms whose chief effect is to sanitize the problem, which is Islam, the whole Islam, and nothing but Islam (the second hallmark, and much more difficult even, I’ve noticed, is to have the epiphany (= the uncommon sense) that all Muslims enable Islam).

However, there is no denying that he is absolutely correct and masterful in his presentations on the subject of Islamic supremacists. He is a man of great talents and laser focus, cutting through the nonsense, making exacting deductions and very powerful parabels. There is no escape from his analysis. Except of course if you are a delusionaly leftist retard who blocks facts and logic from your mind if it doesn’t fit into your dogma, or an Islamic supremacist whose mind is a dark cloud filled with hate and death.
His analogy of The Master Race / The Master Religion is fantastic and absolutely compelling. Another superb presentation from Netanyahu.

Open your mind and quit the talk about”reigious nonsense”. Yes, Islam is not a true religion, but don’t put Judaism and Christianity in the same bag. If you dismiss them as nonsense the burden is on you to demonstrate that and that implies a serious effort at understanding their teachings. I pity you as an atheist as it is obvious that you have to hold positions which are based on a false fideism, a faith with no rational basis, as the atheist has to have recourse to such explanations as chance to explain the fundamental philosophical question: “why does anything exist rather than nothing? A reasonable explantion required for this question and similar ones. Islam doesn’t present one, but that doesn’t mean that Chistianity doesn’t or that it is nonsense.
Don McKellar says
No. The burden is ALWAYS upon those making extraordinary claims to prove those claims. It is religions who make extraordinary claims, not I. No religion can ever prove anything. They never have — because they can’t. All they can do is play word games. If a religion could actually prove something, then it would be a testable and scientific fact. Wake me up when that happens.

Dinosaurs ruled the Earth for 400,000,000 years. Comparatively, the human race is in its infancy, having been on Earth for only 200,000 years.
Perhaps you’ll agree that humans are an evolving species. Compare what we know today vs what we knew 200 years ago, or 2000 years ago, or 20,000 years ago. Perhaps we don’t know as much now as we think we know. Imagine what we’ll know in another 2,000,000 years, or 20,000,000.
Just because we can’t see something doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
A few questions for you that I’ve also considered in my own search for truth about religion, seeking evidence:
1. Do you believe in an afterlife?
If yes, is it such a stretch to believe such an afterlife is the divine providence of a deity, and maybe 2,180,000,000 Christians Worldwide, and billions before might be onto something?
If no, how do you explain the millions of people who’ve had Near Death Experiences, and all come back to describe experiences remarkably similar, across all different faiths? I’m Christian and had a NDE lasting 25 seconds before the paramedics resuscitated me. I have a pretty good idea what’s in store for us after our souls leave the Earth Don. I’ll tell you I’m no longer afraid of dying, and look forward to a blissful Eternity in the loving care of Christ.
2. Do you believe in ghosts?
If yes, again, isn’t this proof enough of an afterlife and the providence of God?
If no, do you really believe the millions of people Worldwide who’ve reported seeing them are all crazy and just making it all up? Sure, some may be mentally ill, but ALL of them? I personally have never seen one, but have family members and friends who have. And they are not crazy people.
Moreover, tune into any of the many documentary TV series popular now about ghosts. Many have audio and video evidence. Are they all simply manipulating the audience with TV tricks and smoke and mirrors?
Best wishes in your search for the truth Don.

Dear Don …
Question: “Is God real? How can I know for sure that God is real?”
Answer: http://www.gotquestions.org/is-God-real.html
Don McKellar says
Your link says that we can accept that god is real because it says so in the Bible. The Koran makes all kinds of claims. So do the Hindu scriptures. And every other religions’ myths and legends. So who is right? Who can actually prove their book is right. None of them can. Just because it says so in a book doesn’t make it so.
Champ says
You wrote:
“Your link says that we can accept that god is real because it says so in the Bible.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That isn’t entirely true …
The link states that we can know that God is real three ways: in creation, in His Word, and in His Son, Jesus Christ.
The most basic proof of God’s existence is simply what He has made. “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse” (Romans 1:20). “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” (Psalm 19:1).
Proof that God exists can be seen with your own two eyes through His creation, and not by reading God’s word: The Bible.
Champ says
Correction: and not *only* by reading God’s word: The Bible.
Yaakov says
I’m a Jewish Atheist, and I don’t find that expression a contradiction.
I don’t mind the religious aspects of Judaism at all, but when I’m hated by the world due to my Judaism, I stand together with my fellow Jews to defend our right to exist.
I live in Israel, and I don’t think we need religious motives to justify our existence here.
Whatever occurred during history, the fact is that there’s now in Israel about 6.5 Million Jews and about 1.5 Million Arabs.
We could live well together and forget about past conflicts, like nations did and do all around the world.
But no. the Muslims just want war and hatred.
They won’t be satisfied until we’re all dead.
They don’t care about land or resources; they care about enforcing their violent version of how society should look like.
So, I’m carrying my Jewish flag, and making a clear standing of which camp I belong to.
For a Jewish Atheist, Jewdaism is not about the Torah, God or Mizvot, abut about sympathizing and defending the rights of Jews, as human-beings in general, and a historically-persecuted group in particular.
Thing I’d love to see…Khaled Abu Toameh being instructed in and then publicly baptised into the Christian faith, in the Jordan River or the Kinnereth, by…Fr Gabriel Naddaf.
Netanyahu at UN: UN Human Rights Council a “terrorist rights council”
……………………………….
None of this should surprise. Look who’s *on* the current UN “Human Rights Council”:
Burkina Faso, Congo, and Kuwait.
Past members have been even worse, including Algeria, Bahrain, Pakistan, Bangladesh, China, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Cuba, Egypt, and Qatar.
The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) is the successor to the UN Commission on Human Rights (UNCHR) since 2007.
Why was that first body dissolved? Why, because it had so many notorious abusers of human rights on its board that it came to lose all credibility.
These included Burkina Faso, Sudan, Egypt, Zimbabwe, China, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Congo, and Libya.
All of these are horrific violators of human rights themselves—perhaps most appalling was Sudan, which at the time was actually committing out-and-out genocide and enslaving its Christian and black African population.
But—no surprise—the new body is no better…
And what about the future? Don’t get your hopes up—members for 2015 and 2016 include Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Algeria, China, Russia, and Saudi Arabia—so expect more of the same.
And both UN bodies have singled out and abused democratic Israel since the very beginning.
People should not wonder why Islam teaches to hate Jews it is because:
because of their unbelief in the Islamic faith. that is why it is commanded in the Quran that Muslims should not take Jews as friends (Quran 5:51)
2) They are cursed by God (Quran 4:46)
3) This is why Allah ordered his Apostle Muhammad to strive and be harsh against Jews who will not believe in Muhammad.
How can any Muslim that reads the Quran (and they all do, right?) reconcile this brutal nonsense with “moderation”. They cannot, but if they reject that ideology their punishment is death. Therefore there are exceedingly few moderates, they are trapped, prisoners of their own “religion”.
Maybe there should be a protected halfway house with counseling and amnesty available for Muslims who seek to escape these teachings.
It is ironic that Islam is split by a giant schism, with neither side endorsing any tolerance for non-believers – or each other.
L. Mayor says
I`d like to propose a new two value description for adherents of Islam: passive Muslims and active Muslims. Muslims who don`t act on the tenets of Islam about forced conversion of infidels, slaughtering Jews (and other unbelievers) and many of the activities in these regards can be regarded as passive Muslims.
Those Muslims who do act on the aforementioned are active Muslims. It appears that the majority of Muslims are passive, even if many harbor sympathies for the tenets of Islam that the active Muslims follow. These passive Muslims may be passive for quite a few reasons, but, it appears that an increasing number of passive Muslims around the world are becoming active Muslims, i.e., joining, and, fighting for jihadist groups, attacking non-believers, etc. Although they are much fewer in number than the passive Muslims, active Muslims receive a disproportionate mount of media coverage, as their murder sprees, along with their rapid territorial conquests are very disturbing to the civilized world. It`s also interesting to note that we hear of very few instances of active Muslims renouncing their adherence to the activist tenets of Islam, be they becoming passive Muslims, or, leaving Islam for another belief system. This may be due to the fear of reprisals, or, that most active Muslims truly believe in the activist tenets so that they`re quite happy to commit the murderous deeds that these tenets call for. When we see or hear the term “militant” Islam, or, “extremist” Islam, or, someone defined as an Islamist,
it`s just an active version or follower of Islam, no more than that, as there is just Islam.
