At last, a world leader speaks the simple and unvarnished truth, and it is, of all people, Shimon Peres. Now, was that really so hard? Are Barack Obama and David Cameron and John Kerry and the rest going to rush to scold Peres and admonish him that the Qur’an doesn’t teach beheading, but peace? Or will there be, finally, a realistic appraisal of how jihad terrorists use the texts and teachings of Islam to justify violence and supremacism, and serious thought about what can and should be done about that? Whatever happens, that almost certainly will not happen.
“Peres to the Pope: Terrorists Are Justifying Beheadings Through the Quran,” Arutz Sheva, September 4, 2014 (thanks to Hastings):
Former Israeli President Shimon Peres met today (Thursday) at the Vatican with Pope Francis.
Peres told Pope Frances that “Terrorist organizations are justifying beheadings by quoting passages of their Quran – there must be an international anti-terror coalition formed, and one of the mandates religious leaders is to bring about tolerance and reconciliation,” he said.
“I, for one, appreciate your show of support in the dialogue to bring peace among all peoples,” Peres stated.
