Or the Zionists, of course: “It is obvious to everyone that the Islamic State is a creation of the United States and Israel.” Conspiracy paranoia update: “Suspicions Run Deep in Iraq That C.I.A. and the Islamic State Are United,” by David D. Kirkpatrick, New York Times, September 20, 2014:
BAGHDAD — The United States has conducted an escalating campaign of deadly airstrikes against the extremists of the Islamic State for more than a month. But that appears to have done little to tamp down the conspiracy theories still circulating from the streets of Baghdad to the highest levels of Iraqi government that the C.I.A. is secretly behind the same extremists that it is now attacking.
“We know about who made Daesh,” said Bahaa al-Araji, a deputy prime minister, using an Arabic shorthand for the Islamic State on Saturday at a demonstration called by the Shiite cleric Moktada al-Sadr to warn against the possible deployment of American ground troops. Mr. Sadr publicly blamed the C.I.A. for creating the Islamic State in a speech last week, and interviews suggested that most of the few thousand people at the demonstration, including dozens of members of Parliament, subscribed to the same theory. (Mr. Sadr is considered close to Iran, and the theory is popular there as well.)
When an American journalist asked Mr. Araji to clarify if he blamed the C.I.A. for the Islamic State, he retreated: “I don’t know. I am one of the poor people,” he said, speaking fluent English and quickly stepping back toward the open door of a chauffeur-driven SUV. “But we fear very much. Thank you!”
The prevalence of the theory in the streets underscored the deep suspicions of the American military’s return to Iraq more than a decade after its invasion, in 2003. The casual endorsement by a senior official, though, was also a pointed reminder that the new Iraqi government may be an awkward partner for the American-led campaign to drive out the extremists.
The Islamic State, also known by the acronym ISIS, has conquered many of the predominantly Sunni Muslim provinces in Iraq’s northeast, aided by the alienation of many residents to the Shiite-dominated government of the former prime minister, Nuri Kamal al-Maliki. President Obama has insisted repeatedly that American military action against the Islamic State depended on the installation of a more inclusive government in Baghdad, but he moved ahead before it was complete….
The leader of the Islamic State, for his part, declared on Saturday that he defied the world to stop him.
“The conspiracies of Jews, Christians, Shiites and all the tyrannical regimes in the Muslim countries have been powerless to make the Islamic State deviate from its path,” the leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, declared in an audio recording released over the Internet, using derogatory terms from early Islamic history to refer to Christians and Shiites.
“The entire world saw the powerlessness of America and its allies before a group of believers,” he said. “People now realize that victory is from God, and it shall not be aborted by armies and their arsenals.”…
Omar al-Jabouri, 31, a Sunni Muslim from a predominantly Shiite neighborhood of Baghdad who attended the rally and said he volunteers with a Shiite brigade, argued that Mr. Maliki had alienated most Iraqis, regardless of their sect.
“He did not just exclude and marginalize the Sunni people; he ignored the Shiite people, too,” Mr. Jabouri said. “He gave special help to his family, his friends, people close to him. He did not really help the Shiite people, as many people think.”
But the Islamic State was a different story, Mr. Jabouri said. “It is obvious to everyone that the Islamic State is a creation of the United States and Israel.”
Yes, that’s obvious to everyone.

Anything which could lead to a necessary criticism of the basic texts and beliefs of Islam must be opposed with a conspiracy theory. This happens over and over. What’s most frightening is that this conspiracy is the biggest obstacle to IS not recruiting tens of thousands, possibly millions more into its orbit.

There is a difference between reporting on a popular conspiracy theory and buying the entire thing hook, line, and sinker. You seem to fall in the latter category based on your linked quote.
I tend to think events are endlessly complex with so many parts and human motivations any simple explanation nearly has to be wrong.
There is no doubt the US has aided Sunni jihadis allied with or now a part of IS and that the US had Abu Bakr in custody. This in no way shows the US has any control over Abu Bakr or the IS today.
Salah says
“You seem to fall in the latter category based on your linked quote.”
Yes, I do. The US did create al Qaeda, then lost control over it. Saudi Arabia did promote violent Islam, then lost control over it. Whenever you create a monster it will come back to bite you.
Turkey (a NATO member) is arming ISIL and is recuiting jihadists for them from all over the world. And the US has no control over Turkey.
Qatar is financing ISIL, and the US has no control over Qatar (remember, the US has 2 military bases there.)
The US (more precisely the W.H.) has been infiltrated by the Muslim Brotherhood thugs. They are running the show there. They have created ISIL.
The Muslim Brotherhood, Turkey and Qatar would never do such a thing without the blessing of thei puppets: the Obama gang.
Beagle says
The US did not “create” al Qaeda. The US and Gulf Arabs armed Sunni mujahideen who already existed thanks to Islam so they could better fight the Soviets in Afghanistan. There is no way Abu Bakr is taking orders from the Muslim Brotherhood infiltrators in our government, though I agree they exist.
You are both arguing the IS monster is out of control (I agree) at the top and is taking orders at the bottom. Probably a good idea to pick one.
At some point Islam needs to take responsibility for something. Mujahideen struggling in Allah’s cause would be a good place to start.
Salah says
@Beagle
“At some point Islam needs to take responsibility for something.”
Islam’s responsibility is this: being a pure evil ideology. Islam must be completely destroyed. It will happen, and sooner than many of us may think.
But here’s the catch: Islam’s destruction MUST come from within. Muslims leaving Islam is the real victory over this evil ideology. It *is* happening.

Phil says
For the record, the US did not create Al-Qaeda, no more than they created the Taliban – the US supported the Afghan mujahideen against the Soviet-backed forces under Babrak Karmal, and the later is the child of Pakistan’s despicable ISI. Likewise, Al-Qaeda is an indigenous Saudi creation. This doesn’t exculpate the West in any way for supporting the abominable House of Saud and allowing them to promulgate their Salafist doctrine throughout our lands. Al-Qaeda is a product of the MB. So is IS – it’s merely a somewhat more vigorous implementation of their agenda. The fact that the Saudis no longer like the MB is irrelevant – that horse bolted long ago.
I know it shouldn’t surprise me, having grown up in the Dar al-Islam after all, but the religiously sanctioned ability of muslims to deny any responsibility for their actions never ceases to amaze me.
I can’t wait to hear how Boko Haram is a Zionist construct. No doubt Usman dan Fodio’s jihad was also a creation of the Zionists (time-travel being the least of their nefarious abilities)?
One thing I do agree with – Turkey (and Qatar) have been the backers and financiers if IS from its inception. And I have no doubt that the current incumbent in the White House is politically short-sighted enough to support so-called moderate islamists – which is something we will come to regret.

The US and other major Western political powers are questioning there actions in a world which is more and more saying what goes on beyond the free world’s borders is not our affair. I tend to agree.
We simply need to ensure our homeland security rather than waste billions in pointless exercises such as preaching democracy to people in Afghanistan. Utterly pointless. The people are barely literate.

Very true, Beagle.
This is what Salah had to say:
“JW readers need to understand one thing: ISIL is made in and by the USA.”
This is *utter insanity*.
The West has enabled Jihad from time to time with clueless appeasement and continuing to naïvely believe that these Muslim thugs are our “allies”, but that is *very* different from actually creating them.
And while he mentions the MB influence—more like sympathy—in the current White House, claiming that the US *created Al Qaida*, which much predates the Obama presidency, makes even less sense.
He then goes on *to compare us to Saudi Arabia*—as though the democratic United States were comparable to that vile, oppressive Shari’ah state.
The only problem Saudi Arabia has ever had with violent Jihad is when it is turned against their own regime.
Whereas, when has the waging of violent Jihad and imposition of Islamic law ever been a goal of the free West?
I respect Salah on a number of matters, but I believe that he has spent too long in Dar-al-Islam—Egypt, in his case—where anything that goes wrong is the fault of either the US or the Jews.

Have recently spoken to a Egyptian muslim who was active in the pro Morsi camp. She said they are all convinced CIA / America (probably Jews as well) are behind IS. It’s a conspiracy to get USA back into Iraq. I personally don’t get the logic, why would the US spend so much money and lives (again) to secure oil it doesn’t need.. But anyway, just as the Libyans think the British are behind every plot, most Sunnis think it’s the US. When the wake up and realise that IS is for real, then their resistance to joining the ‘Caliphate’ will go and things will become even more polarized.
Steffen Larsen says
And Muslims in Israel …and Muslims in Denmark …and …and.
The West sent, paid for, or trained ISIS/IS. The Caliph is an actor trained by Mossad, the Caliph was sent by the Americans. There is nothing that can be done: anything that can be blamed on Islam or Arabs is caused by The West.
The lack of logic means nothing: I have given up arguing against it.
BlueRaven says
We are not clean on this. The IS SOBs are using American weapons. The WH is discussing about giving more weapons to the ‘moderate’ Syrian rebels. Turkey is behind convincing our guys in the WH that there are ‘moderate’ rebels in Syria. The logic I don’t understand, if there were any moderate rebels, their numbers are negligible and they won’t be able to fight the seriously ruthless Abdullahs. The weapons we supply are going to end up again in the hands of the ruthless Abdullahs aka ISIS terror cell.
In some way, leaving Israel out, the Conspiracy theory has some merits if taken logically wrt to the State department.
I saw the Turkish hostage arriving on a news channel. There is no way in hell they were mistreated. The Turkish PM is not telling how he struck the hostage release deal. I think his deal stinks. He is going to get lots of Kurds killed.

Let’s say for the sake of argument that the conspiracy theorists are correct and that either CIA or the ‘Zionists’ are behind Islamic State. Well… it should be obvious to any objective observer that they are using *Islam* as a tool to carry out their… conspiracy!
The solution then is simple. All that the conspiracy theorists have to do is demolish Islam so that the CIA and ‘Zionists’ are left tool-less and rendering their evil designs on Iraq in shatters.
And I am sure that JW’ers will be more than happy to help destroy this evil tool of CIA and Israel 😉

I have one question. How on earth could ISIS move through Iraq so quickly from when this all began without America stopping them? I recall that they took most of the ground in about three weeks. After all, America is a super power with aircraft carriers in the region. It cost America Trillions of Dollars, many lives and many years to do what they did to Iraq which is shameful. After all this they sit back and do nothing until most of Iraq is gone. They could have stopped it on day two. All they had to do was send in the planes and bomb them to smithereens, after all that is their foreign policy. It is known as “Bombs Away” Foreign Policy. Suddenly this very sophisticated well organized, well armed and ruthless group pop up from nowhere and make America look like a bunch of clowns, ummming and arrring: “what must we do? Bomb? Don’t Bomb? Boots on the ground? Noooooo, no boots on the ground please! There is something very fishy going on here. Why are you so quiet Saudi Arabia? I am just asking questions. After 911 I will never believe a word that anyone in high places in the American Government says and neither will I believe the CIA. Lies, lies and more lies! However we are left with a problem, and that is ISIS which is a reality as is Islam.

…………………………
We had already left Iraq—Iraq was supposed to provide its own security.
How can you not know that?
John Mustart South Africa. says
Of course I knew that. The point is that America is in the area with it’s aircraft carriers etc, and had so invested lives and money in Iraq and then she let’s a bunch of rebels (ISIS which she armed I believe) swoop in and take over. America dithered like a wounded old man before she acted. Have you ever heard of cruise missiles. Just press buttons and off they go and obliterate the target. Very simple. They wanted ISIS to do what she has done so that America can ” A bombing we will go, hey ho the dairy o, a bombing we will go” – bombs away foreign policy at it’s best. America loves it’s toys. She makes so much money selling them.

I’m buying into the CIA being involved in supporting the IS and the reason being Benghazi. The CIA were running guns with the help of Turkey to the rebels in Syria. It may come out of the present investigation or not.

“Lets blame everything but Islam. What a strange world we live in!”
Yes Sam, What strange world we live in!
I started sensing this reality after the November 5, 2009, Fort Hood shooting crime occurred ….how the indictment of the perpetrator was treated with more concern then all the victims combined…mass genocide I thought. There was no compassion or concern about them. They were dead, “so what does it matter”. Sounds familiar doesn’t it?
Know thy nemeses, one nemesis at a time!
I have no opinion to share, but only a discerning thought……Folks, we are in the middle of a spiritual warfare! Yes, these convoluted happenings nowadays, all rolled up, with no rhyme or reason as to why they commit these acts of evil; to aid one’s quest to formulate a way to fight these networks of evil. Evil is a spiritual entity, does not have a body or soul I supposed, but a spiritual force that we have to counteract with to win favor with our omnipotent Triune God. The conversation of our spirituality in our human existence is hard to understand…..but, our spirituality is the mystery of our faith. Mystery: any truth that is unknowable except by divine revelation.
Colossians 1:16 For in Him was created the universe of things in heaven and on earth, things seen and things unseen, thrones, dominions, princedoms, powers–all were created, and exist through and for Him.
Only God knows the way! For man; in a way we are too weak ourselves to figure out who are the hosts or better still the proxies that shelter those that want the demise of the ones that believe in Him, our Creator!
This thought is probably what the author of the passages in Ephesians 6 envisioned when he wrote: “For it is not against human enemies that we have to struggle, but against the principalities and the ruling forces who are masters of the darkness in this world, the spirits of evil in the heavens.”
These words were copied and pasted from the holy book passages of Ephesians 6:12.
Can we win this campaign to change the hurtful minds of those who are prone to harm His precious creations? Yes, the answer to this dilemma lies within the page of chapter 6 in the book of the Ephesians!
John Mustart says
Just to clarify what I said earlier or rather to add to it. I do not underestimate ISIS. Hopefully they will be knocked out. Political Islam is the danger as these hardliners are behind the Jihad. It can be awfully confusing but I think we can all see the pattern. As a Christian in South Africa I have learnt not to trust governments. I believe the Western broader Church has been overwhelmed by materialism and large swathes are semi apostate. However there are many individual Christians who are remaining true to Christ. There are no Governments behind true Christianity anymore which one can argue is good. We are not of this world as we belong to Christ. Too many people look up to America as the pinnacle of man’s achievements. The American Government has thrown Christianity out in word and deed. All Political systems are corrupt, none are innocent. The pressure is on the Christian (other groups as well) as the world is increasingly turning against Jesus our Lord. It’s what Christ has warned us. As we go into the future more Christians can be expected to die for their faith. It’s to be expected. Let us stay true to Christ and saturate ourselves with His word and be prepared to die for Him as time marches on. Mathew Chapter 24 is very clear. The way of Christ is not easy. There is no difference between America or Russia morally only culturally.
