Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Tony Blair: Islamic State’s ideology “based in a complete perversion of the proper faith of Islam”

Sep 21, 2014 7:00 pm By Robert Spencer

tonyBlairHe says that the free world must combat the ideology of the Islamic State, while retailing the usual soothing fictions about where its ideology comes from. Blair said in 2007 that “to me, the most remarkable thing about the Koran is how progressive it is,” and added this in 2008: “I regularly read the Koran, practically every day,” and the Islamic prophet Muhammad had been “an enormously civilizing force.”

Here he says, “The way these hostages are abused and subject to the grotesque form of public parade and then execution, it’s just horrific. It’s evil and it’s totally contrary to the principles of any form of religious faith.”

Is it, really? Here is a salient passage on this issue from a Shafi’i manual of Islamic law:

When an adult male is taken captive, the caliph considers the interests … (of Islam and the Muslims) and decides between the prisoner’s death, slavery, release without paying anything, or ransoming himself in exchange for money or for a Muslim captive held by the enemy. (Umdat al-Salik o9.14)

A revered Islamic jurist, Al-Mawardi, agrees with ‘Umdat al-Salik:

As for the captives, the amir has the choice of taking the most beneficial action of four possibilities: the first, to put them to death by cutting their necks; the second, to enslave them and apply the laws of slavery regarding their sale or manumission; the third, to ransom them in exchange for goods or prisoners; and fourth, to show favor to them and pardon them. (Al-Ahkam As-Sultaniyyah (The Laws of Islamic Governance), 4.5)

Then there is the account of Muhammad’s treatment of the Jewish Qurayzah tribe of Arabia. After they were captured, Muhammad executed them. According to his earliest biographer, Ibn Ishaq: “The apostle went out to the market of Medina (which is still its market today) and dug trenches in it. Then he sent for [the men of Banu Qurayza] and struck off their heads in those trenches as they were brought out to him in batches.” (Ibn Ishaq 630) One of the Prophet’s fiercest enemies among the Banu Qurayza, Huyayy, proclaimed: “God’s command is right. A book and a decree, and massacre have been written against the Sons of Israel.” Then Muhammad struck off his head.

These passages allow for the killing of hostages, not for their being “abused and subject to the grotesque form of public parade.” But the killing is the worst part, no? And there is neither here no anywhere else a statement of the Qur’an or Muhammad forbidding hostages being subjected to a “grotesque form of public parade.”

Pretending that this sort of thing is not in Islam, and that the Islamic State is behaving in ways that have no justification in Islam, is not doing a thing to confront the Islamic State’s ideology.

“Tony Blair: West must fight not only ISIS, but its ideology,” by Eliott C. McLaughlin, CNN, September 21, 2014:

(CNN) — When Tony Blair heard British aid worker David Haines mention the former prime minister prior to his beheading, it strengthened his resolve to fight ISIS, he said Sunday.

“It makes me even more determined to take these people on and beat them,” Blair said in an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Before his execution this month, Haines directed a message at British Prime Minister David Cameron, saying, “You entered voluntarily into a coalition with the United States against the Islamic State, just as your predecessor, Tony Blair, did, following a trend amongst our British Prime Ministers who can’t find the courage to say no to the Americans.”

It’s not clear whether Haines’ comments were voluntary or were coerced by his captors.

In his Sunday interview, Blair said he felt President Barack Obama is “absolutely right to take on ISIS and build the broadest possible coalition.”

He said, however, that aerial campaigns won’t be enough and ISIS will need to be fought “on the ground,” but it’s unclear whether the Iraqi and Kurdish fighters already battling ISIS will be sufficient or if they’ll need to be supplemented.

He did not specify who might need to provide troops, saying the plan to battle the terrorist group will “evolve over time.”

Asked why some British citizens had opted to join ISIS, Blair said it wasn’t just a British problem but a European one. He also emphasized that the ideology espoused by those who fight alongside ISIS is abhorrent to most Muslims.

“The broad mass of the Muslim community in the UK will be absolutely horrified and appalled by this and condemn it completely,” he said. “The way these hostages are abused and subject to the grotesque form of public parade and then execution, it’s just horrific. It’s evil and it’s totally contrary to the principles of any form of religious faith.”

Britons who adhere to this ideology have been subjected to a perversion of Islam that must be stamped out not only in Britain, but in the Middle East and Africa, Blair said.

It was a familiar tack for the former prime minister, who said in an April speech that it was absurd that the United Kingdom spends billions on defense to protect itself from “the consequences of an ideology” that is being taught formally and informally in countries “with whom we have intimate security and defense relationships.”

At that time, Blair suggested raising the level of international dialogue to force countries to effect changes within their own societies.

It’s not solely about the horrendous death toll from “religiously inspired conflict,” he said, but “quite apart from the actual loss of life, there is the loss of life opportunities for parts of the population mired in backward thinking and reactionary attitudes, especially towards girls.”

In Sunday’s interview, Blair said Britons were not joining ISIS because they’d been mistreated in the UK but because they’d been exposed to this radical ideology.

“It’s an ideology based in a complete perversion of the proper faith of Islam, but it is powerful. It is proselytized and preached by people in mosques and madrasas not just in countries like Pakistan and parts of the Middle East and parts of Africa, but back in parts of Britain,” he said.

“How do you root this kind of teaching out and make it absolutely clear that it is completely unacceptable to teach these forms of extremism?” he asked.

I don’t see how this kind of teaching can be rooted out without acknowledging from where it originates.

Blair did not expand his remarks on Haines or offer thoughts on aid worker Alan Henning, who appeared in the video of Haines’ execution, but he said ISIS’ treatment of its hostages shows why it’s so important to win the fight against the group.

The recent broadcast of executions demonstrates “how completely divorced from any type of proper human compassion these people are, and why it’s also necessary to take them on and beat them.”

Terrorist attacks span East and West, he said, citing incidents in Uganda, Kenya, Somalia, Thailand, Australia, Nigeria and Yemen, and thus require a “global response” rather than a response only from the West or the West and a few Arab states.

Even countries like Russia, China and India can find common ground with the United States on dealing with the threat, Blair said, adding that cooperating with Russia to battle extremism should not “impinge on how we view Russian attitude toward Ukraine.”

Blair is the newest poster child for useful idiot. Along with jimmy carter and others, a useful idiots club could be formed that will continue to explain how Islam is somehow peaceful, though its adherents slaughter, rape, and enslave defenseless people and have been doing this for 1400 years, simply because of the delusions of a pedophile and mass murderer.

Tony Blair is a spokesman for the House of Saud which is backpeddling its creation of jihadism, the Frankenstein’s monster that has turned on its master. But House of Saud can only deny paternity so long.

Apparently Blair has been reading the version of the Qur’an that was edited by Hope Not Hate, where they take the New Testament and substitute the name Mohammed for Jesus. Bet Blair had tears in his eyes when he read where Mohammed rose from the dead after being crucified two days earlier, or when Mohammed turned the few loaves of bread and fish into enough to feed 5000, or when he walked on water. So inspiring!

These pronouncements by western leaders make more sense when you understand they’re not exactly defending Islam per se, but rather they’re defending their whole multicultural/cultural relativist worldview—and in Blair’s case, he’s defending his whole political career and what he’s done to the UK. If you’re waiting for him to admit that he’s supported bringing in millions of people into the UK who really want to see the basic laws of the UK overturned in favor of Islamic law, you’re going to be waiting quite a while. Most western leaders like Blair have simply invested too much of their lives to Multiculturalism for them to ever be able to admit that it was a catastrophically misguided ideology.

In the case of England’s political class, they are well paid to undermine their countrymen and their culture. They’re just as perverted as their Arab paymasters.

  4. Saleem Smith says

    Sep 21, 2014 at 7:55 pm

    Hey Tony old chap!

You are clearly another “misunderstander” of Islam.

Islamic theology encourages and sanctions both rape and sex slavery.

We ex-Muslims know that Islamic theology demands the death of ex-Muslims.

    THE QURANIC SANCTION OF SLAVERY

The institution of slavery in Islam was formalized in the following Quranic verse, in which Allah distinguishes free human beings or masters, who exercise justice and righteousness, from the dumb, useless and burdensome ones, the slaves:

    Quran 16:76
Allah sets forth (another) Parable of two men: one of them dumb, with no power of any sort; a wearisome burden is he to his master; whichever way he directs him, he brings no good: is such a man equal with one who commands Justice, and is on a Straight Way?

Allah warns the believers against taking the slaves as equal partner in status and in sharing their wealth, lest they have to fear them as anyone else:

    Quran 30:28
…do ye have partners among those whom your right hands possess (i.e., slaves, captives) to share as equals in the wealth We have bestowed on you? Do ye fear them as ye fear each other?

Allah recognizes some human beings, namely the masters, as more blessed by Himself than the less favored slaves as part of His divine plan. He warns Muslims against sharing His gifts to them equally with their slaves. Those who would take slaves as equal, warns Allah, would deny Him:

    Quran 16:71
Allah has bestowed His gifts of sustenance more freely on some of you than on others: those more favoured are not going to throw back their gifts to those whom their right hands possess, so as to be equal in that respect. Will they then deny the favours of Allah?

Allah does not only sanction the institution of slavery, He also gave divine blessing to masters (Muslim men only can own slaves) to have sex with the female slaves:

    Quran 70:29–30
And those who guard their private parts, Except in the case of their wives or those whom their right hands possess—for these surely are not to be blamed

    Quran 23:5–6
And who guard their private parts, except before their mates or those whom their right hands possess, for they surely are not blameable

Therefore, if there are women amongst the captives or slaves, Muslims are divinely sanctioned to have sex with them as they do with their wives. This verdict of Allah founded the institution of sex-slavery or slave-concubinage in Islam, which was widespread in the pre-colonial Muslim world and continued well into the mid-twentieth century. As far as legal marriage is concerned, there is a limitation of four wives for a man at one time [Quran 4:3], but no such limitation on the number of sex-slaves.

Allah also gave a divine sanction to Muslims for acquiring female slaves for sexual engagement by waging wars against the infidels:

    Quran 33:50O
Prophet! surely We have made lawful to you your wives whom you have given their dowries, and those whom your right hand possesses out of those whom Allah has given to you as prisoners of war…

Muslims can engage in sex with the captured slave women even if they are married, but not with the married free Muslim women:

Quran 4:24Also (prohibited are) women already married, except those whom your right hands possess…

There are other verses in the Quran that talks approvingly of slaves and capturing them in wars. Thus, according to the divine commands of the Islamic God as enshrined in the holy Quran, Muslims are allowed to keep slaves. They can amass slaves by waging wars, have sex with the female slaves, and of course, use them as they wish. For Muslims, having sex with female slaves is as legal as having sex with their married wives. Slavery appears to be one of the most desired divine privileges in Islam, since Allah took the pain of reminding Muslims about this divine right time and again in so many verses.

The comments Tony Blair made about Islam being ‘progressive’ and I even believe he went as far as saying – something like – the way Islam treats women is ‘the way forward’ – was a wider effort to combat terrorism or the threat of it by ‘reaching out’ to the Muslim community! [Hilarious! Because when Tony Blair later converted to Catholicism – so convincing his ‘outreach’ – one Muslim guy joked ~ he thought Blair would convert to Islam!].

Here is something from the Spectator – Douglas Murray blog that makes a similar point – and then rewrites Tony Blair’s statement:

‘At the root of the crisis lies a radicalised and politicised view of Islam, an ideology that distorts and warps Islam’s true message. The threat of this radical Islam is not abating. It is growing. It is spreading across the world. It is de-stabilising communities and even nations. It is undermining the possibility of peaceful co-existence in an era of globalisation. And in the face of this threat we seem curiously reluctant to acknowledge it and powerless to counter it effectively.’

Here is what he [Blair] would say if he wanted to be wholly truthful:

‘At the root of the crisis lies a radicalised and politicised view of Islam, an ideology that – while obviously the worst version of Islam going – nevertheless has a long tradition. The extremists do not make their claims based on some wild misreading, but on a plausible reading of the texts and traditions which have existed within the religion since its founding. In order to confront this, and defeat the extremists, we cannot simply pretend that these problems do not exist. Non-Muslims must be unafraid to point them out and to say that there are extremist attitudes which remain permissible in mainstream Islam – such as the second-class status of women, the mandating of death for those who leave Islam – which go wholly against our own most deeply held beliefs. And it is vital that Muslims do everything they can to face up to the challenges which these extreme elements pose within their faith. Rather than denying that these questions of interpretation exist, or brushing them under the carpet, it is incumbent upon Muslims everywhere to do everything they can to anathematise and stigmatise the extremists and to chase them and their readings out of the religion. Muslims must face up to the problems of the tradition and overcome them, rather than deny that they exist. [*]The process of denial only emboldens and strengthens the extremists while simultaneously making it easier for some non-Muslims to crudely and cruelly lump all Muslims in the extremist camp.[*] This is a matter of urgency.

Any mention of the word ‘Islamophobia’ – should be followed by the Twilight Zone theme music. To let you know you are in an alternate reality.

[*] Notice they raise the specter of – Islamophobia – there has developed a hierarchy around who knows what about Islam – and who is more qualified to speak on the subject. A kind of Islamic one-upmanship. Outside of that – they pretty much got it right – except to say that – the effort to vilify non-Muslims with genuine concerns [they are chopping off heads for real] – contradicts the rest of the statement that says the jihadists action is a part of Islam from its inception and Muslims are aware [whether to a greater or lesser degree] – need to start taking responsibility for their own f’in religion.

    Multiculturalism or Us

It is de-stabilising communities and even nations. It is undermining the possibility of peaceful co-existence in an era of globalisation.

This is what happen to multiculturalism across Europe – nothing to do with racism or the rise of mythical far-right – it was the other kind of Muslim extremism – the non-violent one – that is conducting sustained attacks on the institutions and laws. That believes – because it is Muslim – it is entitled to lead those nations. And that Muslim values and sensitivities should supersede all others – such that even as a minority whole societies were being moved around to suit it. Whereas in theory parallel cultures were supposed to exist equally – Muslim politics advocated for the dominant cultural gold medal position – in practice.

The Wahhabis profess a life of exceeding austerity, and what they practice themselves they rigorously enforce on others. They hold it as an article of duty, as well as of faith, to kill all who do not share their opinions and to make slaves of their wives and children. Women have been put to death in Wahhabi villages for simply appearing in the streets.

It is a PENAL OFFENCE to wear a silk garment. Men have been KILLED for smoking a cigarette and, as for the crime of alcohol, the most energetic supporter of the temperance cause in this country falls far behind them. Austere, intolerant, well-armed, and BLOOD-THIRST, in their own regions the Wahhabis are a distinct factor which must be taken into account, and they have been, and still are, VERY DANGEROUS to the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.”

“The broad mass of the Muslim community in the UK will be absolutely horrified and appalled by this and condemn it completely,” says Blair

By their silence on the issue the ‘broad mass of the Muslim community’ are not appalled by the horrors committed by ISIL. Blair doesn’t speak for Muslims anywhere so why would he presume to think he does for those in the UK?

  20. Tommo says

    Sep 22, 2014 at 5:06 am

Blair is guarded 24/7 not necessarily from a radical Muslim attack but also from the many whom he betrayed in the Labour movement and in the country when prime minister. This loathsome creature and his equally loathsome wife have made a fortune on the backs of people he was voted into office to serve but instead he changed the face of the country by limitless immigration and, by his naive policies, enabled London to become the world Islamic terrorist centre. His experience on how to Islamise a country is a service offered to other world leaders through his consultancy in which he perpetuates the view that Islam is good and Muslims make sound immigrants. How this fool hasn’t been taken down before now remains a mystery.

And who can forget his wife Cherie, who used her powers as a defence lawyer to represent criminal asylum seekers to prevent them being deported back to the hellholes from whence they came, and received thousands of pounds of taxpayers money for doing so. Blair and his government were responsible for opening up the floodgates here in the UK, thus letting in millions of unvetted nationalities, including muslims. Oh, and we musn’t forget Cherie’s sister,Lauren Booth, who converted to islam. Below is an interview she gave to Tom Trento:

“an enormously civilizing force.” Really? It seems he chooses to ignore what goes happens on a normal daily basis in almost every Islamic country. Of course anybody simple minded enough to voluntarily join the RC Church is hardly likely to talk sense.
Why is he reading the Quran every day is he planning to convert to Islam next?

  23. Kasey says

    Sep 22, 2014 at 6:20 am

Is Tony Blair calling all those who model their life and actions on their prophet Mohammed as perverts? Just how is what they do in reality, is a perversion of Islam, is sheerly ludicrous. Following actions and directives that he did and said, is surely a sign of a good Muslim, in following such model behavior. If they can’t do that, how can Islam have any credibility at all?

Now that is really worth thinking about!

Blair is the Moron in Chief.

We had to suffer years of him being in charge. He doubled the number of Muslim immigrants for electoral advantage to himself, he wrecked our constitution and ended freedom of speech.

As I have said before, there are serious commentators who believe he suffers from delusion. He believes something is true because he says it is.

Will risk pulling a Ben Shapiro who wrote this same idea after President Obama spoke in Cairo in 2009. As much as I respect Mr. Blair, It seems that once again we need to remind our figureheads of the free world that it is not their job/s to convince the rest of Western civilization what Islam is or is not.

That, is the job of the Muslims. It is interesting that some Muslim groups have stood up and demanded that the world recognize ISIS/ISIL as un-Islamic. I have a hard time believing them; when ISIS members quote the Koran in Arabic and then behead a hostage in the name of Allah, it is hard to imagine where else their motivation comes from. One might argue by looking at the Sykes-Picot agreement.

And it is not likely that Muslims would accept the same argument about the Holy Crusades launched by a pope back in the medieval days. Why should we?

Really ? What for ? Rubbing the right’s nose in diversity ? That pos blair doesn’t live near any mohammedan enclaves, mosques, or halal butcheries, does he ?

Do share with us what, exactly, you respect him *for*.

And what does Sykes-Picot have to do with any of this ? Is that a subtle way of implying this is all the fault of Britain, France, and Russia ?

mohammed made up all this crap 1400 years ago, and it hasn’t changed one iota. What we are seeing now is **exactly** what a caliphate looks like. If the arabs had got their ‘greater arab state’, it would look exactly the same, and act exactly the same. This is what mohammedans *do* when they are in the ascendant.

This is the kind of blatant ignorance rampant in the west. Western leadership, with rare exceptions, either cannot or will not state the obvious. Why? For fear of being labeled an Islamophobe or for fear of possible violent retaliation from the “tolerant” members of “the religion of peace.” What will it take? There will be another “‘non Islamic’ Islamic terrorist” attack perhaps far worse than 9/11. Will Tony Blair and George W. Bush again intone the Pavlov dog’s response, “Islam is a religion of peace” or will someone in a world leadership position begin to speak the unspeakable and call a spade a spade. Islam is not a religion of peace. It is a theocratic, brutal political system designed to rigidly control all human behavior in ways abhorrent to western sensibilities.

    • Neil Jennison says

No, Islam IS a religion of peace.

It must be because Tony Blair said so and everything Tony Blair says is true.

No; it is reasonable to suppose that there will be several more terror attacks, in various places of the West, some even worse than 911, and that the Pavlovian response from our Western Mainstream will continue to bury its collective head in the sand of the banks of De Nile for as long as it can — which will likely mean they will wake up only after a few million of our men, women and children are mass-murdered, a million more horribly wounded, and huge gouges chomped out of our infrastructure leaving smoking holes.

I’ve never wanted to be wrong this bad.

Blair is first and foremost a barrister, a very bright, self obsessed and rich one. Like so many socialists, he knows with frightening certainty that he is always “right”. He is also devious, cunning and very dangerous.

Before the 1997 UK general election Blair promised to “roll back the forces of conservatism” and he was true to his word as he and his armies of cronies gradually consumed and dismantled systems and infrastructure that had served the United Kingdom so very well.

Blair’s former close friend (ask the US secret service) the curmudgeonly and incompetent Gordon Brown ruined retirement for hundreds of thousands of people from all socio economic groups by levying a 20% tax on pension funds, funds that at the time were seemingly awash with spare cash. ..we must all be aware of the outcomes of this action.

Blair’s raison d’etre is change for the sake of change – if it is not broken, break it. When he apparently converted to Catholicism it didn’t take long for him to suggest a “modernising agenda” to the Vatican. Thankfully Pope Benedict gave him short shrift so Blair looked for something else to play with – perhaps he could be King, nay, the first President, of a federal Europe? One day maybe?

Blair’s adventures and dalliance (whilst the money flows) with Islam are commented on by those with much greater knowledge of that subject than I. One can though, look at some of the consequences of Blair’s actions and policies….

For example open borders resulted in floods of immigration from Bangladesh: thousands and thousands of illiterate people and their progeny came to live in the UK. Their offspring went through the UK’s education system but often the parents did not learn English, the years rolled by and still they didn’t learn English. Local Authorities may have spent a fortune on translations and translators but these services only reached those people who asked for help.

There are well documented examples of adolescents from Bangladeshi families bullying, intimidating and extorting money from their parents (eg state paid benefits), parents who still do not understand how to fill in forms, pay bills etc and are no more literate now than when they arrived.

Among the Bangladeshi community there is a growing problem with gangs and drug use and people look for someone or something to blame for their own dissatisfaction and discontented mind set, maybe hold a “corrupt” west responsible…perfect fodder for rescue by “radicalisation”?

In chaotic Somalia chewing Khat is a way of life for many, it’s prolonged use is known to cause cancer, particularly of the mouth and throat.

There was once a thriving import business supplying the demand in London – the drug is now banned but unsurprisingly it can be found. Khat use, amongst other things, lowers inhibitions so behaviour, whilst under the influence can be challenging and antisocial, sometimes resulting in free bed and board at Her Majesty’s pleasure – though not “free” for the UK taxpayer who picks up the tab.

Thousands of people from Somalia have come to the UK as refugees, many had either been caught up in or were part of the endemic violence in the country. For some of these people there are problems with mental health issues and these are often undiagnosed and untreated.

Perhaps this and many other similar situations may be another avenue for extremist sympathies to be fostered and allowed to fester?

Put simply neither the UK nor the west generally has the resource and expertise to deal adequately with large numbers of very needy people.

One may be sure that neither Blair nor any of his coterie have experienced life with neighbours who do not understand or respect British culture, values and traditions, unless of course he is blessed with vision that enables him to see far and wide from his luxurious Mayfair offices.

The outcome of many of the policies Blair adopted have provided a rich fertiliser for the growth of Jihadist ideas and ambitions whilst he grows richer with money from the middle east.

Blair is a man who has done vile things to our country and people, he deserves our revulsion and opprobrium.

In a religious vacuum in the West where sadly the Church has failed to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a proper clear manner is it any wonder Islam (the main protaganist of Christianity) has moved aggressively to fill the gap.A careful study of the Quoran shows that infidels are summarily dealt with in a merciless manner. There is no religious freedom, grace or forgiveness of sin-the latter being the hall mark of Christianity. What Islamic zealots really need is to be exposed to a personal Saviour who can save them from themselves. Satan behind the mask of Mohammed will never be able to accomplish that universal need of all humanity. What modern day Islam is doing is simply resuming its plan to take over the world and force everyone to believe at the risk of their personal well-being.They may seemingly win for a while but at the end of the day will regret their actions when they too see the Son of Man return in all His glory to establish the true Kingdom of God.
