Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Turkish minister: Christianity no longer a religion

Sep 3, 2014 4:35 pm By Robert Spencer

Bayraktar“There are 2.5 billion Christians in the world,” Bayraktar said. “Christianity is no longer a religion. It’s a culture now. But that is not what a religion is like. A religion teaches; it is a form of life that gives one peace and happiness. That is what they want to turn [Islam] into as well.” In other words, he is telling his audience to be on guard against those who try to water down, or should we say moderate, the teachings of Islam. Those teachings, including, presumably, the teachings of jihad warfare against unbelievers and their subjugation under the rule of Islamic law. Coming from an official of the ostensibly secular regime in Turkey, this is a noteworthy statement: he is essentially saying that Turkish secularism, which restricts key aspects of Islam, must be opposed.

“Christianity no longer a religion, says Turkish minister,” Hürriyet Daily News, September 3, 2014:

Christianity has ceased to be a religion but has become a culture of its own, Turkish Environment and Urbanism Minister Erdoğan Bayraktar said at a recent conference hosted by the ruling Justice and Development Party’s (AKP) Women’s Group.

“The biggest three countries in the world are not Muslim countries. China, India – only the U.S. believes in a single God. Spirituality and religious feelings are weakening,” Bayraktar said.

“There are 2.5 billion Christians in the world,” Bayraktar said. “Christianity is no longer a religion. It’s a culture now. But that is not what a religion is like. A religion teaches; it is a form of life that gives one peace and happiness. That is what they want to turn [Islam] into as well.”

    A religion is a cult with a lot of adherents. Both Christianity and Islam qualify but the latter is a risk for the civilized world. The only solution to the current threat is to first admit that Islam is the enemy (not just some subset of it) and adopt a strategy to neutralize or, preferably, eliminate it.

    • Julian says

      Sep 3, 2014 at 5:19 pm

      I’m not sure the neutralisation or elimination will be that simple even if the world knows Islam is the enemy. Robots who with one switch from remote control, go into attack mode are synonymous with muslims who at times can appear peaceful but can suddenly openly support jihadists. The problem is pandemic, not localised.

          The countries with the best standards of living have the lowest incidence of religion, being atheistic countries. While the most dangerous countries in the world are religious, either christians or muslims.

        Unproductive believes? The top scientists in the world are atheists and we are unproductive? What a crack!

        Christians burned Mr. Bruno at the stake ALIVE, Gallileo was jailed and Copernicus postponed his findings till his death bed for fear of being KILLED.

        The only reason we made it out of the dark ages, was the fact that christianity allowed scientist to do their thing, but only to a certain extent. What we do have to be thankful for, is that we were able to get the fuck out of Europe and separate the church from the state!

        Atheism is not a cult as it follows NO DOCTRINES. Atheism is simply no believing in gods, not your god, nor any god!

        Get a clue!

          well, if you look at the list of dictators who killed the most – the top three were leaders who took Atheism and Darwinism literally. And thats not in the dark ages!

          Sep 7, 2014 at 12:08 pm

          I don’t believe in satan, so I’m sure he doesn’t love me.

          As far as dictators go, you’ll have a tough time proving that dictators did what they did in the name of atheism, they mostly did what they did for power, and wanted nothing in their way. Religion is an organization that has power, and no dictator will allow that.

          But you will find many were religious dictators as well:

          Leopold II

          As a colonial leader of Belgium, Leopold II was famous for essentially enslaving and killing nearly 15 million Congolese under the guise of his Congo Free State. Other European powers had granted him the territory in order to improve the lives of its inhabitants. Instead he used them for his own personal gain and committed some of the worst atrocities in history. Hitler’s army was mostly christian and Hitler convinced them that they were fighting for their god, jesus.

          A psychopath will be a psychopath wether he follows a religion or not.

          Atheist has no doctrines or beliefs, it is simply the none belief in any gods. After that, what you do with your life is your problem and responsibility.

          So your point is mute.

          Again your point is NUL.

      If you look below the surface, there is little difference between any of them; all supporting one tyrannical, political scheme after another and fighting among themselves over which one is more right – the left or the right, the liberal or the conservative. The truth is that they are both completely wrong, in any way that matters, because they are both part of the very same violent rebellion against God. They both have their backs turned to God, on the highway to hell, going away from God and Christ and leading whole nations to destruction. The only difference between the left and the right, the liberal and the conservative, is that one is on the left side of the broad road to destruction, which Jesus speaks of, and the other is on the right side of the road, moving with the children of wrath, following the leadership of children of the Devil, down and away from God, in their endless violent rebellion.
      They are all the same ilk from of old, going against the flow of the mass of humanity today, being lead to their destruction by the fine feathered, utterly corrupt and phony, liberals and conservatives, dictators, Communists, or whatever they are calling themselves these days, and they slaughtered and enslaved and war-mongered to kill uncountable millions in every nation of history, and did it all with confident assurance it was for good, God, law and country.

        Islam is the greatest manifestation of evil. IS as the “antichrist of terrorist organizations.
        With no regard for the sanctity of life, IS savages employ barbaric tactics as they abuse, mar, enslave, rape, gun down, and behead image-bearers of God. The spirit of antichrist controls these brutal beasts, who will stop at nothing to bring the globe under their black flag of terror.
        we need to remember that God is in control. He is working all things for the Christian’s good. Even as Christ’s people are being persecuted around the world, the Lord is with them and will be their Avenger. This fact compels me all the more to pray Jesus would return to set all things aright. Christ will answer the prayer of His people, and He will execute justice against all who have persecuted His children.

        • Dorian says

          Sep 9, 2014 at 11:04 pm

          Well that makes a lot of sense, “god is in control”, yet Muslims are able to behead christian children; must be exactly what god wants to happen then.

          Good for you.

          The difference between a reasonable person and an insane person, is the realization that a just and actually all powerful entity, would not allow any of this things to happen if he could actually stop it. Because it makes a whole lot more sense to stop the evil from happening in the first place, then to avenge it, AFTER it has already happened.

          This is akin of a police officer watching as a rapist rapes a child and doing nothing, because he knows that he is going to catch him AFTER the fact.

          Your delusion is just beyond comprehension.

    Christianity no longer a religion, says Turkish minister

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I agree with him …
    Since Christianity has *never* been just a “religion” …it is much *more* than that!
    Jesus Christ is the Way to God:
    Question: “How is the Christian religion different from all the other world religions?”
    Answer here: http://www.gotquestions.org/Christian-religion.html
    Excerpt:
    Man, in his creativity, has invented innumerable religions in his attempt to reach God. God, in His love, has given us the truth: the one religion, Christianity, in which God attempts to reach man.
        Soon, there’ll be nowhere to hide from the prying electronic eyes of the government. Every demand of control they impose (“Take your mandatory medication!”) can quickly and easily be accomplished by shutting off an individual’s ability to do anything.
          You take technology out of our world and the entire world will collapse within months. The average life span has increase from 35 to 75 years old thanks to science and humans populate the planet as no other species has ever done, and all thanks to science.
It’s true that necessity makes for strange bedfellows, which is why you (and I) are siding with these people against islam, but never forget that they are little better than the Habibs; their principal reason for opposing mahoundianism is because it stands as an obstacle to their own Christo-Dominionist ambitions. Hell, listen to some of them pontificate for long enough, and you’d be hard-pressed to find any distinction between them and the pube-faced degenerates of the “Religion of Peace”.
        The alliance between the Christian fundamentalists and more sensible people is merely one of convenience, and while it’s easy to lose oneself in the idea that islam is the only threat, never forget that there are others no less dangerous, but infinitely more devious.
          Well “Darkon” has Darkened the door of Jihad Watch with his moral equivalency garbage and bald-faced lies …
          “Darkon” desperatley needs to educate himself by reading one of Robert Spencer’s excellent books entitled:
          “Religion of Peace?: Why Christianity Is and Islam Isn’t”
          Christianity or Islam: which is the real “religion of peace”?
          Almost any liberal pundit will tell you that there’s a religion bent on destroying our Constitution, stripping us of our liberties, and imposing religious rule on the U.S. And that religion is . . .Christianity! About Islam, however, the Left is silent–except to claim a moral equivalence between the two: if Islam has terrorists today, that’s nothing compared to the Crusades, inquisitions, and religious wars in Christianity’s past.
          But is this true? Are conservative Christians really more of a threat to free societies than Islamic jihadists? Is the Bible really “just as violent” as the Qur’an? Is Christianity’s history really as bloodstained as Islam’s? In Religion of Peace? Why Christianity Is and Islam Isn’t, New York Times bestselling author Robert Spencer not only refutes such charges, but also explains why Americans and Europeans must regain an appreciation of our Christian heritage if we ever hope to defeat Islamic supremacism. In this eye opening work, Spencer reveals:
          * The fundamental differences between Islamic and Christian teachings about warfare against other religions: “Love your enemies” vs. “Be ruthless to the unbelievers”
          * The myth of Western immorality and Islamic puritanism and why the Islamic world is less moral than the West
          * Why the Islamic world has never developed the distinction between religious and secular law that is inherent in Christianity
          * Why Christianity has always embraced reason–and Islam has always rejected it
          * Why the most determined enemies of Western civilization may not be the jihadists at all, but the leftists who fear their churchgoing neighbors more than Islamic terrorists
          * Why Jews, Christians, and peoples of other faiths (or no faith) are equally at risk from militant Islam
          Spencer writes not to proselytize, but to state a fact: Christianity is a true “religion of peace,” and on it Western civilization stands. If we are not to perish under Islam’s religion of the sword–with its more than 100 million active jihadists seeking to impose sharia law–we had better defend our own civilization.
          Christianity is a religion like any other religion. It does everything every other religion does, ever single day; pray, worship, drink blood, eat flesh, you name it, and all in the name of an invisible god, who sent a god man to be sacrificed so that no more animal sacrifice could take place, because this god would not forgive ANYONE, UNLESS his own son was tortured to then, then and ONLY then, was he satisfied and allowed himself to forgive.
          YOU are EXACT as muslims, you just love to pick and choose your verses. If you actually followed your bible, you’d be killing people everywhere for working on the sabbath.
          The LORD then gave these further instructions to Moses: Because the LORD considers it a holy day, anyone who works on the Sabbath must be put to death.’ (Exodus 31:12-15 NLT)
          It’s the same insane ideas twisted to fit a different culture.
          It’s so easy to post nice bible passages, I’m sure any muslim would be able to do just the same.
          Someone here asked what christian is provoking death to anyone else, and I could easily answer that because the vast majority of christians here believe that all unbelievers will eventually be put to death in a lake of never ending fire.
          How is that for hate, hypocrisy and death threads?
Islam is a religion with religious followers who have blind ideology not based in life but rather judgement. Hence the insane justification to behead “infidels” thus lacking the faith in a living God to have the strength to convert a soul without the threat of death to that soul. In all magnifying the fact that followers of Islam have a puny temporary God.
    Christianity may well have evolved into a culture but can Islam pull itself up from merely being a cult.
    I doubt it can as it is hard to proceed forwards when you are only ever looking backwards.
    Turkish minister: Christianity no longer a religion
    ……………………..
    Well, this is just hilarious. Muslims constantly crow that Islam is the world’s fastest growing religion—which is somewhat questionable, in any case—but here they are claiming that Christianity, with 2.5 billion faithful, is now too big to be a real religion.
    What idiocy…
    And the devil told Eve: ‘you surely will not die, but will be like God, knowing good and bad’… and Eve believed the lie and spread it to Adam.
    And this guy is following the path of the first liar. Jesus called him a murderer because his lies led to the loss of life…of untold millions…and the father of all others who lie like the devil does.
    If he convinces anyone that islam is the right way to go, he is a murderer of that person.
    It’s like hearing a disciple of satan, worrying about the reform of satan’s dedicated works, and their eternal curse of death and hatred. He knows taqiyya well, but little of Christianity or Judaism, which forms the roots.
    Here: Turkish ex-mufti on Muhammad: “So many people can’t live properly because of him” (MO)
    http://www.jihadwatch.org/2014/08/turkish-ex-mufti-on-muhammad-so-many-people-cant-live-properly-because-of-him
    Typically the turk is too practiced at taqiyya, as Christianity is the same basis for over 2000 years, which does involve Judaism, involving even more teachings of life, principles of the finest and highest sort, of peace love and forgiveness, and lessons of attaining happiness, of and through the one Great G-d, for whom and through whom one finds Blessing of Life, eternal.
    Extremely practical principles for living one’s life, are remarkably in the bible. Both for here and the hereafter, Blessed teachings by the Son of God, in His name. But the Turk is unschooled in the Bible, and Christianity.
      When “religion” is used as a pejorative, and is a description of what all those “dead” churches out there, he’s right. Americans as a people, have rejected the moral law of God. We have become, as a people, very antinomian, and if we have a problem with the right to life; if we can’t quite figure that out but we believe as a people, that saying something disparaging about the Islamic religion is a federal crime, then God is going to take our land away. This land will vomit out the people. It’s ugly but it’s the truth. In these end of days, it’s an irresistible force. The momentum on this thing now can not be stopped.
      I wonder if it can be slowed down but I’m inclined to think not. It’s judgment.
      People who know and practice God’s absolute rights and wrongs; who know by their relationship with Jesus, that some ideas are just bad ideas; who decided because of their relationship with Jesus, to obey God rather than man where there is a clear scriptural precedent, and stand by their beliefs even if they are being persecuted, are Christians.
      This is what the open borders are all about. We can’t resist this with armed force or a vote, because it’s from the hand of God. He always gives people the government they deserve.
      A simple etymological study of the word “religion” will help. It comes from the Latin word religare which means “to bind” or “to tie.” The root of the word is lig-, from which we get our words “ligament” and “ligature.”
      Now that is a theological concept worth considering! “Religion” is that by which everything is held together—in general. More specifically, this is the fundamental language of covenant.
    Well now we know why Turkey’s Islamist govt is building a $100,000,000 (Million) dollar mega mosque right outside Washington, DC in Maryland. That can bring a lot of peace and happiness. Unless of coarse if you are part of that Christian “culture”.
    How do you figure that humans have their backs turn to god? They are following the footsteps of your god to a T.
    Your god, supposedly and according to the bible, ordered the rape of women, he ordered their bellies to be opened while pregnant, ordered the killing of all unbelievers, of homosexuals, actually gave rules for slavery and allowed for slaves to be beaten to the point of death, as long as they didn’t die within two days, he drowned every single human, women, children and even animals.
    How do you figure men is not following your god?
    This is a reflection of what all these gods really are; a creation of men in his image, not the other way around.
        After reading your posts, it’s obvious you are a superstitious fundamentalist with the thinking ability of a mindless loony on a street corner preaching the end of the world.
        The only ad nauseam here is your post about the end of the world, and us turning our backs on god, blah blah blah, which has been spewed over and over since the beginning of religion.
        Give it a rest already!
