Canada on high alert since the two jihad murders of Canadian soldiers last week.
“Canada arrests Pakistani gun owner, alleges security threat,” by Richard Valdmanis, Reuters, October 30, 2014:
(Reuters) – Police have jailed a Pakistani gun collector living in Ontario, alleging he is a terrorist threat to Canada, his lawyer said on Thursday, days after attacks in which two Canadian soldiers were killed.
Muhammad Aqeeq Ansari, a 30-year-old software designer, was arrested on Monday on allegations he has ties to militants in Pakistan, has amassed an arsenal of firearms, and has expressed extreme views on Twitter, his lawyer, Anser Farooq, said.
Ansari, who does not have Canadian citizenship, is being charged under Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Protection Act with being a danger to the security of Canada, Farooq said. He faces deportation.
Farooq, who has defended other clients on terrorism-related charges, said he has received numerous calls from people who have been contacted by police and intelligence since the attacks last week that killed one soldier in Ottawa and another in Quebec….
On Ansari’s Twitter account, he describes himself as a “Convicted Radical (ConRad) xD. Gamer, Sleeper… Not used to taking anything seriously…. seriously.”

Subtle shift here……I can see the Canadian Gov slyly attacking gun owners there, you Canucks really need to get on to that and make sure there is no tightening of the gun laws up there, be vigilant ! when I see the words in the MSM ” Arsenal ” and ” gun collector ” be extremely suspicious.
Not defending this bum…….but please you guys up there watch out ! the Gov is NOT your friend when it comes to the right to own a firearm for self defence .

I wouldn’t worry as long as the conservatives are in charge:

I am not worryin…….the 2nd gets protected no matter what. NO government gets trusted. NONE!……..conservative or not, a ” conservative ” government disarmed Australia. Can happen anywhere. End of story. They are ALL corrupt.
Jax Tolmen says
Just throwing it out there, as an Australian, gun control is viewed as a good thing here.
Also, the 2nd Amendment only applies to the USA – the contents or message have zero bearing on any other country in the world. In fact, the USA’s constituion and subsequent amendments are not the template for freedom anywhere except for the USA. To be honest, it is ignorant to assume that your brand of freedom is the only “true” freedom in the world.
Wolfgang says
@Jax Tolmen
So you speak for the firearm owners do you ? and just who views ” gun control as a good thing ” there ? you ? looked at your homicide rate of late have you ?, no ? why not ? what is next banning kitchen knives ? , you going to quote me some tripe about ” we don’t want to become like America ” are you ?, do you even know the stats of crime in Australia ?
Sounds like you were really happy with ” flak jacket johnnie ” and what happened huh ?
Jax Tolmen says
@Wolfgang
And you have a better idea do you? Just because we do not conform to your notions and ideals does not make us wrong. You’re clutching at straws; I know many gun OWNERS who view gun control as a good thing. We do not have an NRA. We do not have a gun lobby. We do have a hunters party, who advocate for more hunting grounds – but not the relaxation of firearm laws. If there was a political or social impetus to own guns in our country that stretched beyond an insignificant minority – then there would something in the political spectrum to that effect. There isn’t. Again, we are not the USA.
Have you looked at our crime rate compared to your own? Why don’t we compare the number of massacres between our two countries in the last 5 years. We have zero.
I’m not advocating for gun control in your country, I don’t care what you do over there. I take issue with you trying to impose your beliefs on us, and slandering our way of life because we do not mimic yours. Australia has strict gun laws, people here are happy about that. They will only ever get tighter, and many people will view that as a good thing. Even now there are discussions on tightening the laws.
Just throwing it out there, I do not care what you do in your own country. I expect the same courtesy.
Wolfgang says
@Jax Tolman
I am not telling you how you should do things, but you threw out the canard that I don’t know what I am talking about, I lived there for years, respect ? I could say the same, as for comparing USA shootings compared to yours, extract your total crime homicides for the year 2013 and then mulitply that by 16.5 ( US population ) and you find your homicde rate exceeds the US, if you go to the FBI web page its lists the total homicides in the USA , from memory is was around the 12,723 in total , its been going down since 1990 , if carefully do the math and then divide into 330 million people you of course get the ratio, so last time I did this Australia had a higher homicide rate ( all types, shooting, stabbing, etc, etc ) than the USA.
As for US shootings, there are other reasons why I won’t and don’t have time to go into.
if you care to read Johns Lott’s work on firearm control and stats it makes very clear reading.
last point, Mr Abbott is just as fiscally loose as the awful woman you had there.

You wouldn’t worry “as long as the conservatives are in charge”? What are you smoking? While better than anything else on offer in Canada, the Conservatives are not very ‘conservative’ and largely buy into a social democrat mindset because that is where their instincts are and mostly where the society is. Just consider the level of taxes and regulations. Talk about regulated and taxed to death!
What have the Conservatives done about restricting or terminating Muslim immigration and how bold are they about describing Islamic terrorism for what it is? How forthright have they been about Islam and it’s hate-filled teachings and practices since the murder of two Canadian soldiers last week?
While proposed changes in gun laws are welcome, don’t hold your breath. Right now to own a handgun you must obtain a licence and to do this you must go through police scrutiny. That includes giving ‘a reason’ for wanting to own a handgun. I suppose that ‘self-defence’ would not be considered a good enough ‘reason’ because already in Canada when some decent person defends themselves effectively against a criminal, the numbskull police arrest the law-abiding person. In this regard I simply consider the oriental store owner in Toronto who was robbed on a few occasions by the same useless scumbag. In the end the store-owner caught the man, overpowered him and tied him up. The ‘brilliant’ Metro Toronto police arrested the store-owner and stuck him in prison. One Toronto police officer informed me that if confronted by a criminal I should call the police. I told him that was the most ridiculous thing I had heard for a long time. I asked whether the criminal would considerately wait while I got out my cell and phoned 911? I told the cop I’d try to beat up the man and then just take off because if I won the fight he and his colleagues would arrest me for defending myself. That is about the size of Canada today – protect the criminal and punish the law-abiding. My advice, learn Krav Maga and other courses, beat up the criminal and then get the hell out of Dodge!
Alex says
Rob. With all due respect, you exaggerate. A lot. Just because some event of someone being arrested for defending himself was reported in some media outlet doesn’t make it true all the time. The pop media will carefully select and report something to shock you and make you read or listen, while ignoring many other stories that will contradict the message or ideology they want to convey. That’s what they do, it’s their business, and you fall for it.
Jen says
@ Alex
If I remember correctly, Rob has a South African background. My life experiences too, have shifted my view points about self-protection. On the one hand, it can be very lovely to not have guns everywhere. It’s like a sign of innocence to me. On the other, I dislike not being able to protect myself. It is really hard to get rid of that nagging feeling once you accept how vulnerable you really are if something were to happen, and you see real life examples of people getting caught out. Is it an exaggeration? Personally, I won’t push for any changes to gun laws where I live. But I won’t hesitate to train myself to use weapons anyway. Especially, as it could come in handy while travelling to dangerous places, which I intend to because of family living there. And yes, I agree with Rob about not relying on the police. How long will that take for them to get there? Especially if you live in the middle of nowhere. I’d rather deal with them myself!
Jen says
And my comment was about pop media, not the other things…
It’s all about our personal opinions, which are coloured a lot by our life experiences. I see the world as quite a dangerous place. Some are different. They walk home alone at night (which I personally think is mad). Media stories tend to reinforce a viewpoint which is backed up life experiences or other things we’ve come into contact with. Is the world a dangerous place or not? Can we all trust the police or not? Depends what you have seen yourself. I don’t really, to be honest. They’re much better here than elsewhere. But still.
Joan in Houston says
I believe that it was the COMBINATION of circumstances, not necessarily any one single item all by itself, which aroused caution by the police.
Sovereign Man says
Keep in mind the Harper government cancelled the long gun registry. The RCMP and Provincial authorities decided to ignore the rule of law, so Harper had to get the courts to directly order the destruction of records. So then the provinces decided to start up their own registries and have ignored the law to this day.
Also remember the RCMP deciding to kick down the door of every gun owner in High River, Alberta during the flood — illegally entering and vandalizing properties and seizing legally owned firearms while the homeowners were blocked from returning to their homes. Somehow, they knew which homes had guns, despite their claims that the gun registry had been destroyed.
The elected governments may change, but the power hungry, permanent, unelected bureaucratic regime never changes. Big government is always the enemy of freedom and liberty.
Wellington says
Your comment, Sovereign Man, especially the last sentence of your comment, reminded me of what President Gerald Ford said (which is sometimes falsely attributed to President Thomas Jefferson, though I have no doubt that the Sage of Monticello would not have disagreed one whit with what the 38th President said), it being: “A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take away everything you have.”
This would, of course, include one’s guns. Oh yeah. Easily.

I am going to go off topic and make one last comment……
Consider the US of A is flat stone broke, nada, zip , 17 friggin TRILLION in the red hole ! that’s without medicare, medicaid and social security…..the country is running on financial fumes !…..add up all the other liabilities and the debt figure comes to around 200 TRILLION ! and its going to paid back!, the USA is in hock to those bastard oil producing countries, when the US goes belly up and can’t repay the debt that I may add is being levied on your future generations of unborn children, then either two things will occur:
1. Hyper deflation followed by a a crash that will be echoed world wide.
2. Stagflation and collapse.
the US standard of living is purely unsustainable. Do the math, any of you out there who thinks this game can go on and on is mistaken, as my Mama tells me ” Son this happened in the homeland……it will happen again ”
Where does ISIS and Islam fit in ? very ,very well actually. What do you think would happen when the US Dollor dies ?, as SAKOVKT says time is running out, it really is folks !
Even Australia is 800 BILLION in the red hole…….no country in the West is debt free.
Mac-101 says
President Ford should know. He was the LAST surviving member of the Warren Commission.
Jax Tolmen says
@Wolfgang
It just never ends with you, does it? Did you wake up today and felt like going on a tirade about Australia?
Australia isn’t debt free, that’s true. We are only 300 billion in debt though – not 800. We also survived the GFC relatively unshaken, and have certainly weathered it better than any other Western nation.
If you want to know WHY Australia is in debt – then I shall spell it out for you. Our previous government had a habit of throwing money around to stimulate the economy; which worked and will continue to work. We borrowed money, used our mining boom as leverage and funneled the money into infrastructure and job creation.
The current government is working to reduce the debt and improve spending patterns, and we will come back to a budget surplus within the next few years. The current government is also very zealous about protecting our borders and defending our way of life.
Mind you, we also have free health care, gun control, an extensive and generous welfare program and numerous government subsidies on many things. That must rub you the wrong way.

As for gun control down there……..the Lebanese Muslims like control too don’t they ? Aussies are a great lot, by the way, I am not against Australians or Kiwis , but when you sacrifice freedom or to be better termed to be free to go about one’s business without gov interference that is priceless no matter where you live, as for the USA not being a template of freedom, well you are just plain wrong, course you are going to disagree I expect that.
Jax Tolmen says
@Wolfgang
I figured you were referring to government debt – those figures include private debt, which is not wholly surprising given the large foreign investments we are receiving at present. Mining and real estate are likely to be the two largest contributors to that figure.
Lebanese Muslims are a massive problem. In Sydney and Melbourne. However the majority of the issues caused by the community is harassment, rape (not involving guns), robbery (not involving guns), and assault (not involving guns). The few instances of gun violence are attributed to ONE gang, and bikies which happen to be of Lebanese descent. It should be noted that they shoot each other, and not members of the general public. It is such a rare event here, that it makes national news.
As long as you respect my position in relation to the “template” comment, then I see no point in arguing it further. I respect your country and its example, but do not wish to mimic it entirely.
Barb R says
Wolfgang, I am Canadian and believe me we are being extremely vigilant right now that our gun rights, pitiful as they are, aren’t attacked or further eroded.
Last year’s gun grab in High River, Alberta, happened despite so-called “Conservatives” being in power both in both federally and provincially.

The important thing is that a potential jihad terrorist with lots of weapons was stopped before he could kill innocents. Of course, libs will say that it is all racism and Islamophobia and that Muslims who kill in the name of Allah have nothing to do with Islam. F&&& those idiots!

socialized medicine ? gun control ? government subsidies ? I call that Socialism !…..still socialism when you steal from one group to give to another group you favor, the politicians work that trick all the time. Its called lobby groups ……

OK, last post on this, its getting off topic and I didn’t really want to go this far.
here is a link clearly showing that the Aussie debt in 800 billion and counting,
http://www.dailyreckoning.com.au/australian-economys-many-many-problems/2014/10/24/
That’s 865 Billion……yes I know how debt works, but do you know how money is created ? [ hint out of thin air] its a giant con game and its rigged in favor of the banks, the Reserve banks of ALL countries create the ” debt” as a set of keystrokes on the computer screen, its a ponzi scheme of epic proportions, my parents are German, I learn’t how this works growing up. Germany was a great lesson in what not to do.
I maintain what I said, there are serious flaws in Mr Abbott’s now terror laws, if nothing else they needed to scrutinized BEFORE being passed, wouldn’t you agree that consulting the people first is paramount ? no one in my mothers home country scrutinized what Hitler did, they used, fear, solution ,fear to get what they want.
With Politicians……the jockey changes each 3 or 4 years, but the horse remains the same , what is the really big difference between your Liberal party and the Labor party ? what is the real difference between the Democrats and the Republicans ?, superficially seems a lot, but look harder, there is no real difference.
Anyway have a good day. Australians have much in common with Americans and Brits.
leave it at that ?

In the US, gold used to be legal tender. There were 25 Cent gold coins, 50 cents coin, 1.00 god coins then 2.50, 5, 10 and twenty dollar gold coins.
The Bankers with the aid of gov, took that away in 1933, then silver in i964. That was the last real money the people ever saw. Metal was replaced with Fed Reserve Notes…basically worthless paper. Good only if the Fed says so. Big bankers figured out a long time ago how to give you paper while they get the gold. It’s a long story, but it started when gold brokers in Europe found out there was more money in banking because they could lend other peoples money with interest.

@Kiwikaffir
Ha ! your gun laws make wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more sense ! a wee country like NZ with 1.2 million guns among 4.7 million people ?…..high gun ownership there ! and you can have AR15’s ! , suppressors and all kinds of great stuff ! psst we should join up for the Zombie Apocalypse ! [ TWD is great ] only down fall of you Kiwi’s is you have a small flightless bird as a mascot and have a giant fernleaf ….go figure

Man, calm down and please respect the fact that there are other views in the world that are not necessarily in line with your own. Good grief… I wouldn’t want to be around you when you’re holding one of your dear guns.
Jen says
Yeah, cheers for that Wolfgang. I like the Kiwi bird and the silver fern, personally.
Jen says
The high gun ownership that you are referring to is most likely to do with the vast amount of rural area that we have. Rural people often own guns. People don’t use guns for self-protection because I suppose they don’t feel it is necessary. But if you avoid bad areas then you should be fine for the most part.
However, if this Muslim problem gets out of hand, the idea of not being able to carry a weapon would worry me. I find them far worse of a threat than any regular criminal. Most criminals don’t have the courage to kill you in the middle of the street where there are witnesses. Muslims don’t care about death or prison time because they’re carrying out their “religious” duties. This zealous belief in their religion trumps all the normal deterrents that would prevent someone from attacking you in broad daylight.
Jen says
What I’m saying, like I mentioned before is that jihadists are criminals but they’re a different kind of monster.
And *most* people anyway seem to stay safe in NZ by avoiding bad areas and not walking alone at night or doing other silly things. However, I’m talking more about how other NZers think about personal safety, rather than myself. I’m on the more careful side because I’ve been unfortunate to encounter wannabe criminals in broad daylight in non-deserted areas more than once. They didn’t actually go ahead and do anything to me though because- it was broad daylight. And I suppose other people who were too close to the areas could be potential witnesses. A jihadist? I doubt they would care so much.

The thing to focus on here, is that this creature, this Pakistani Muslim, had not taken out Canadian citizenship.
He belongs to Pakistan, a wretched portion of the dar al Islam, and he should be sent back there, never to be permitted to return to any portion of the Lands of the Non-Muslims.
Canadians here present should be writing to their government – Prime Minister, Immigration Minister, Foreign Minister, and their particular elected reps – ASAP, *demanding* that Muhammad Aqeeq Ansari be deported. You can state, in addition, that given the behaviour of this Muslim and not a few others, and the behaviour of those who convert to Islam, you believe it would be a good idea to slap a ban on all further entry of identifiable Muslims into Canada; and that Muslims already present, who have not acquired citizenship, ought not to receive it. Residency only; and if they put a toe out of line, out they go. Make the point: Got Muslims? Got Jihad.

For more than two years, beginning with Jason Kenney when he has Minister of Immigration, Citizenship and Multiculturalism, I have written to cabinet ministers in Ottawa. These include John Baird, Chris Alexander and Stephen Harper. If they are reading or listening, they are not responding. They, in my opinion, are now slaves to mindless multiculturalism, diversity and political correctness. Common sense and honest evaluation is not high on the list in Canada and I have little faith that they will do something brave about Islam and Muslim immigration. There is not a Ronald Reagan or Margaret Thatcher equivalent in Canada!
Rather, on the horizon looms the mindless, characterless, boy/man liberal/left clown Justin Trudeau. And just watch Canadians elect him their ‘leader’. Americans were dumb enough to elect a community organizer about whom most knew nothing, and my bet is that Canadians will be dumb enough to elect someone who has never proved himself at anything other than talking drivel and exposing that he has no real ‘values’ – his ‘values’ being ideas of little or no substance. The boy/man is a shell.
My impression is that few individuals are writing to the politician I mentioned above and I dearly wish that more would write. Maybe then they would sit up, but as Michael Coren has pointed out on SUN TV, Canadians are appallingly apathetic and complacent, so will sit on their duff and watch things unravel.

do you have *any* friends, relatives or workmates – or coreligionists, if you attend a place of worship now and again – who share your alarm about Islam?
Why not get together with *those* people in your home and have a “letter writing” party? Making sure, of course, that although each letter makes the same basic points, it is *not* a “form letter”; it has to be each person’s individual “take” on the problem.
Is there a Canadian equivalent of Q Society (in Australia) or of ACT for America?

Control the imams and the problem with Islam is lessened. They are the propagandist of hate and jihad. The kaffar governments should also send out fatwas to the imams. Do this quietly through the CIA, M5, Mossad etc. Imams that make death threats and promote jihad against the west and issue fatwas to individuals with the objective of shutting down free speech and criticism of Islam . Well two can play that game. These imams with few exceptions are a bunch of couch jihadist. They talk the talk only. Make them understand that they can become targets too for spewing out their hate propaganda. They want to mix politics with religion then they must take responsibility for what they say and command. Does the west have to take their propaganda sitting down. Absolutely not. They should act quietly without public warning. Start with the most radical imams. The rest will get the picture.

Deport him! And then deport families of terrorists who fail to report them.
Families that harbor terrorists are aiding and abetting the jihad.
The only thing Muslim terrorists fear is being sent back to their dysfunctional Islamic Berzerkistan!
dumbledoresarmy says
Yes, they fear deportation.
Niccolai Sennels makes that point, when he discusses the Muslims of whom he has had direct experience, in Denmark.
My guess as to why, is this: it’s not just that life here is better and easier and safer than at home in the hellpits of the dar al Islam; it’s because every Muslim who gets the boot, means that the size of the beachhead that they are establishing *here* – with a view to seizing “turf” for the Allah Gang – is diminished.
If non-Muslim countries 1/ banned all further Muslim immigration and 2/ did as you suggest re deportations of those caught inciting to or attempting or engaging in Jihad terror raids …and of those who harbour them (i.e. who know/ knew but did not dob them in to the Infidel authorities) – and 3/ did not hinder those departing to Syria, etc, but *did* strip them of citizenship and cancel their passports, **after their departure for said jihad hotspots had been reasonably established to be a fact**, the size of the Ummah colonies in the lands of the non-Muslims would be significantly reduced.
(Severe punishments for polygyny, forced and/ or child “marriages”, FGM, etc should also be inflicted; if a family is caught practising polygyny – usually with associated welfare fraud on the grand scale – or planning, attempting or performing a forced or child “marriage” or FGM or an honor murder or a “hit” on a family member who has left Islam, then again…DEPORT, DEPORT, DEPORT…and shut down, permanently, whatever mosque aka Cult Indoctrination Centre they’ve been regularly attending, because, it all begins at and is taught from the mosque.
Underage girl victims of FGM or child “marriage” or survivors of an attempted honor murder would be permitted to remain behind until age 18 on condition they took part in “cult deprogramming” counselling sessions aimed at freeing them from Islam by hammering home the fact that the horror they suffered was the direct result of Islam; if at age 18 they still insisted on staying with the Death Cult / Rape Cult despite the damage it had done to them…tough bikkies, out they should go).

“MONTREAL — The Quebec politician who once helped to draft an immigrant code of conduct says all Canadian mosques should be shut down for 90 days after jihadists killed two soldiers on home soil.
“These people all went through mosques,” former Herouxville, Que., councillor Andre Drouin told QMI Agency’s sister French television station, TVA. “So maybe there’s something wrong with mosques. You don’t have to be a genius to think that.”
Come on, Canadians: get behind Monsieur Andre Drouin and PUSH.
Amplify what he’s saying: because it’s TRUE.
Everything begins and ends in the *mosque*. That’s where it’s at.
That’s what ex-Muslim Sam Solomon says, in his little book (published under a nom de plume), “The Mosque and Its Role in Society”.
Perhaps Canadian jihadwatchers could have a project: to get that little book onto the desk – or directly into the hands – of every sitting – and aspiring – Canadian politician. No matter what.
Together with the Barnabas Fund booklet “What is Sharia?” – which is a brief and strictly factual and carefully referenced (and all the more damning and eye-opening, because of that) explanation of what sharia actually *is* and teaches; and Solomon’s *other* book, “Al Hijra: The Islamic Doctrine of Immigration”.
Preferably, each pollie should be personally – face to face – given said items – the indispensable “background briefing” on Islam – *by a constituent or group of constituents*.
