The Islamic State — extremists! No other Muslims think this way, right?
Sheik Ali Al-Faqir, former Jordanian minister of religious endowment, said this on Al-Aqsa TV on May 2, 2008: “We proclaim that we will conquer Rome, like Constantinople was conquered once…” Hamas MP and Islamic cleric Yunis Al-Astal said this, also on Al-Aqsa TV, on April 11, 2008: “Very soon, Allah willing, Rome will be conquered, just like Constantinople was, as was prophesized by our Prophet Muhammad.”
Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the most prominent and renowned imam in the world, in writing about “signs of the victory of Islam,” referred to a hadith: “The Prophet Muhammad was asked: ‘What city will be conquered first, Constantinople or Romiyya?’ He answered: ‘The city of Hirqil [i.e. the Byzantine emperor Heraclius] will be conquered first’ – that is, Constantinople”¦ Romiyya is the city called today ‘Rome,’ the capital of Italy. The city of Hirqil [that is, Constantinople] was conquered by the young 23-year-old Ottoman Muhammad bin Morad, known in history as Muhammad the Conqueror, in 1453. The other city, Romiyya, remains, and we hope and believe [that it too will be conquered]. This means that Islam will return to Europe as a conqueror and victor, after being expelled from it twice – once from the South, from Andalusia, and a second time from the East, when it knocked several times on the door of Athens.” And last May a Kosovar Muslim in Iraq said: “We shall conquer Jerusalem from you, oh Jews! We shall conquer Rome and Andalusia, Allah willing.”
“ISIS magazine shows its flag flying over Vatican,” ANSA, October 13, 2014:
(ANSA) – Vatican City, October 13 – The black flag of Islamic militant group ISIS is shown flying above St. Peter’s Square on the cover of the group’s magazine Dabiq, which called in its latest issue for a war against the Catholic Church.
With the headline The Failed Crusade, the photo-shopped cover of Dabiq caps new threats against Rome and the Vatican as well as forces led by the United States in a bombing campaign in Iraq and Syria against ISIS militants.
It threatens to “conquer” Rome and “break your crosses,” referring to the symbol of Christianity.
The group has previously suggested that the fight is about religion and western forces are attacking the Islamic faith rather than the militants – a modern version of the medieval Crusades that pitted the Roman Catholic Christians of the day against Islam. The article in Dabiq – named for a town in northern Syria – also urged faithful Muslims to attack and kill “every Crusader possible” and added that “it is lawful to kidnap the women of the infidels and use them as sex slaves”.
Last month, security officials said that they had stepped up security at the Vatican following threats by ISIS, which wants to establish an Islamic Caliphate. This marked the fourth issue of Dabiq, which is published in English.

excerpt:
In the seventh conversation (διάλεξις – controversy) edited by Professor Khoury, the emperor touches on the theme of the holy war. The emperor must have known that surah 2, 256 reads: “There is no compulsion in religion”. According to some of the experts, this is probably one of the suras of the early period, when Mohammed was still powerless and under threat. But naturally the emperor also knew the instructions, developed later and recorded in the Qur’an, concerning holy war. Without descending to details, such as the difference in treatment accorded to those who have the “Book” and the “infidels”, he addresses his interlocutor with a startling brusqueness, a brusqueness that we find unacceptable, on the central question about the relationship between religion and violence in general, saying: “Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.”[3] The emperor, after having expressed himself so forcefully, goes on to explain in detail the reasons why spreading the faith through violence is something unreasonable. Violence is incompatible with the nature of God and the nature of the soul. “God”, he says, “is not pleased by blood – and not acting reasonably (σὺν λόγω) is contrary to God’s nature. Faith is born of the soul, not the body. Whoever would lead someone to faith needs the ability to speak well and to reason properly, without violence and threats… To convince a reasonable soul, one does not need a strong arm, or weapons of any kind, or any other means of threatening a person with death…”.[4]

Most of the comments and “criticisms” aimed at me–because I dared raise the issue of Muslim anti-Semitism (which made yesterday’s Holocaust Museum shooter feel more comfy in doing his deed)–are jawdroppingly ignorant about the relationship between Hitler and the Nazis and the Islamic world. In fact, the most frequent comments by left-wing website and commentators are that I failed to mention Hitler, accompanied by the strikingly incorrect claim that the Muslims had no ties to Hitler.
Yup, the Muslims Had No Ties to Hitler and the Nazis, No Ties At All . . .

Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Proudly Inspects Muslim SS Unit
For the extremely ignorant, here’s a brief tutorial on Hitler, the Nazis and their Muslim friends–the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, who met with Hitler and advised him to finish the job on the Jews and speed up the Final Solution, and who begged Hitler to export the Final Solution to Israel and the rest of the Jews in the Mid-East and North Africa; the special Muslim division of the SS–*** UPDATE: actually TWO Muslim SS Divisions as reader sewsalot points out ***; and the close relationship, even decades after WWII, between the Nazis, their ODESSA organization for SS officers, and the Muslims–the reason why so many wanted Nazi war criminals like Aribert Heim a/k/a Tarik Hussein Farid and Alois Brunner were shielded for life in Syria and Egypt, respectively, and why the SS helped Gamal Abdel Nasser and the Egyptians in their attempt to build nuclear and other missiles to kill Jews. And that’s not to mention all the concentration camps in North Africa, which the Nazis enlisted their Muslim buddies to guard (and to round up the Jews for).
But, hey, these are all irrelevant, right? So insignificant.
This ignorance can be best summed up by the very civil Janice Ta, who is about as informed as she is able to calmly express herself . . . as in, not very. And it’s funny how now even Ms. Ta–which sounds like an Asian name, so you’d think she’d be against bigotry–is now informing me of her anti-Semitism. Because, you know, when a guy shoots up the Holocaust Museum, it’s time to raise the “the Jews Killed Jesus” thing and the “Hitler had Jewish advisors” justification for the Holocaust. Hmmm . . . maybe we should start one of those kitschy pogroms, huh, Janice?
Little Janice has quite a problem, though. You’ll note she won’t stop e-mail stalking me and her language continues to be “civil” . . . by hip-hop standards.

Vile mis-understanders of Islam, bringing shame on the religion of love, peace and charity.
All Europe needs to do, to counter the hate being spewed out by these evil un- Islamic Muslims, is to import another 20/30 million Muslim “refugees” and “asylum” seekers. They will show Europe´s non- Muslims the true face of all loving, peaceful Islam as taught by the Saintly Mohammed of Mecca.
Vivienne Leijonhufvud (goldie) says
BULLSHIT to your comment if you are serious Charlie. Mohammed was a schizoid the evidence is in the contradictory Quarn Koran or what ever other name you call this piece of crap. ISLAM has never believed in peace and morality let alone humanity.

Fr. Basil. I am surprised that you being a priest would presume to know the will of God. The catholic church and it’s congregation have become complacent in it’s mission here on earth. Even the leader of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis has shown ignorance in his proclamation that Islam’s authentic message is peace. Why do you think God would be willing to protect Rome from the marauding forces of Islam. The church and all of Christianity throughout Europe has become lukewarm. Christ said to Pilate ” … my kingdom is not of this world… ” So why would God not use this opportune moment in history to shake up the Church to awaken her from her deep slumber. God did not spare the temple of Solomon from destruction, and the divine temple, the body of Christ from being destroyed, why would He then show partiality towards the Church of Rome? The same Church that harbours men that abuse Christ’s name by their heinous deeds against innocent children? When Jesus told Peter that the gates of hell would never prevail against his church, I don’t think He meant St. Peter’s in Rome…. God help us all on these troubling times.

Paleologos,
I seem to have struck a nerve with you, however I don’t see the justification for your ad hominem slurs.
Where in my post do you see the equivocation of paedophilia in the Catholic church with Islam’s anti- western ideology? I mentioned them as two separate issues, with no apparent connection.
It has already been established that Islam is from the evil one.
Does this mean we should turn a blind eye to what is happening behind those grand doors of the Vatican? I was merely pointing out to Fr. Basil that there is a huge problem within the church, in all of Europe. The demise of Christianity in Europe is creating a vacuum that Islam is rapidly filling.
What is the Church turning into? Do we not have the right to even question it? Not only has the language of the priests, Bishops and even the Pope become seethed in condescendence towards Islam, there are other evils that prevail one of which is the fact that Vatican is keeping a code of silence about the scandals it’s priests and bishops are deeply entrenched in.
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/politics/vatican-kept-code-of-silence-on-paedophile-priests-claims-un-report-9109363.html
Are these scandals within the Catholic church one of the factors that are causing more and more Europeans to drop out of Church entirely?
How can a hypocritical Church hope to escape the wrath of God when it’s leaders endorse other “gospels” and also ignore Christ.
Matthew 18:6
“….But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea….”
Imagine that! Now does not Christ, who uttered such language merit your criticism too?
I’m sorry if I came across strongly, but again the point I was trying to make is that, we need to hold Church leaders accountable for both their WORDS as well as their DEEDS, even then it is not guaranteed that the Church will be safe from trouble times ahead with the rapid expansion of Islam in the world. We should expect the tribulation and persecution of the church in the end times, as prophesized by Christ himself.
BTW, I am Catholic …… not blind!
TH says
Your connection between what Pope Francis has mistakenly stated about Islam and sexual abuse by priests is a cheap shot. Without in any way justifying the matter of sexual abuse by Catholic priests, I invite you to find out the truth about the matter and the fact that the percentage of abusers among Protestan clergy is greater and even worse thoose in the New York Public School system.
The Church of Rome is a lot more than some buildings in the Vatican and art treasures, its importance goes back to the very beginnings of Christianity, as it is the place where both St, Peter and St. Paul were martyred and the only remaining Apostolic See, as the others such as Antioch and Alexandria were taken over by muslims in the 7th centuries, as well as the Churches of Africa, from whence came St, Augustine among other great early Christian Fathers.
Dr Norm says
Paleologos, you are surely one of those anti-Catholic bigots who shout “pedophilia” whenever the church is mentioned. It is often an attempt to muzzle honest debate or to create confusion. Surely, you would like the Catholic clergy to be equated with that evil. But statistics have shown that there are more pedophiles in other churches and public schools than in the Catholic Church; but no one cares about such things. Go and investigate the state of your own churcht in regard to this sin-perhaps you will learn to first take the plank out of your own eyes in order to see clearly the speck in your brother’s eyes.
However, in spite of what you think of the Pope and of the clergy, never forget the historical role of the Catholic Church: It was the Popes who orchestrated the defense of the West against Islamic colonialism: From the Crusades to the Reconquista, from Lepanto to the gates of Vienna.
But for the Popes Islam would have conquered the world and all us would have been Muslim and speaking Arabic.
Remember also that Popes come and go but the the Papacy endures; it is the longest, “uninterrupted” bureaucracy in human history-over 2000 years old; its closest rival is the House of Windsor (the English monarchy) and is a mere 900 years old. The Popes represent centuries of Christian moral and ethical teaching; and these remain despite their personal human weaknesses.
Finally, remember that the Catholic Church does not belong solely to the Popes and other clergy. It belongs to its over 1.2 billion members and indeed to all of Christianity. It is, therefore, the responsibility of the laity to “take back” their church when they feel that the leaders are deviating from orthodoxy and tradition. This has happened in the past; it can be repeated in our time.
Dr. Norm
Caterina romanelli says
Excuse me? I am a devout Catholic and I think that the Muslims should burn the Vatican if that will bring about the deep repentance and conversion of our silly socialist pope and his band of spineless bishops. The current synod does not bode well. The bishops are no different from the democratic party. They are furthering the demise of Western civilization faster than any Islamic terrorist nation can.
TH says
Begin by converting yourself, as you seem to be full of anger. Pray that the Lord will guide these bishops, who like any human being have their failures and foibles, but I do think you exaggerate. Nothing in this world is perfect, neither is a Church made up of human beings.

Oh trust me, I do pray for the pope et al. I am dismayed not angry. Dismayed that they are hijacking our faith by conforming to secular society rather than being the salt if the earth. However anger is at times justified. You seem to ge exhibuting olenty of anger and Zi suppose you justify it.

Well, God has used other nations to chastise His own chosen people. I don’t see what necessarily guarantees He would not do so now. Not destroy His Church, but chastise it by reducing St. Peter’s to rubble? Did the same to His own temple ca. 70 A.D. The Roman Catholic Church is not its architectural structures nor its temporal real estate holdings.
Caterina Romanelli says
Very well said. We should never think that we are above chastisement from God – neither institutions, nations or individuals.

In 1992 I saw a video from the Pitzer College library in the US by the Nostradamus Society featuring a panel of experts. Held BEFORE Gorbachoff, when the Breshnev doctrine was still in full sway. They hosted a debate about a prophecy about a third world war featuring a a certain Muslim leader who would burn Rome, but in the end he would be defeated, a coalition consisting of the US and Russia. The experts concluded, impossible, because a third WW would surely between the cold war principal enemies, with the USSR supporting Islam since they already were supporting Muslim states (called Third World States) against the west. Viewing the video my hair rose in my neck, since the wall had just fallen, the USSR had just become memory and I think that nobody on the panel had expected this in their wildest dreams.
Much later I thought, not Rome but NY? And some Muslims in my country speculated that Osama could be the Mahdi (presently Bhagdadi seems to aspire to be him). But lets do some speculating, what authors do. a) Some IS character bombs the Vatican or b) IS got their khalifah and invades Italy to hoist their flag on the Vatican. THEN the sleeping sheep dog may turns out to be a Borzoi wolf killer. And is that too fancy? 1. The zealots kept challenging the Romans. 2. Che invaded South America. 3. The Red Khmer attacked Vietnam. 4. Leftist urban guerilla like the Rote Armee & Seikengun & others thought they could bring their respective countries to their knees. I think it quiet possible that the Vatican will be attacked–and John Paul WAS shot after all, but at that time nobody was thinking Jihad, the Muslim shooter was explained in KGB terms what of course was possible too. But eventually it will happen–if that is what they want, they will try. And who knows they will succeed? Barbarian invasions were often successful because civilizations do grow weak (Gibbons, Toynbee etc.). Well, I talked to a friend a month ago, he was a totally moderate, but he said, of course the west will fall (under Islam), isn’t that ordained? Funny thing, said friend is a interfaith activist, and to Christians he would appear a pussycat. But I know what what he really thinks, let’s be nice to our present and future dhimmis, let’s domesticate them humanely.

The problem in Europe is that we have secularized states whose people only seem interested in consumerism, hedonism and instant gratification. How are they to combat a ruthless, prosletyzing faith? The only way to counteract Islam is in my opinion with a robust opposing faith. Herein lies the difficulty. Christianity has been in decline for a number of years and most christians do not understand Islam and are much more concerned with issues such as marriage, abortion and family life. They want to tackle secular issues but are wary about criticizing another so called religion. When I mentioned Islam to a catholic friend of mine her retort was its a religion of peace. We have therefore reached an impasse. Apathetic secular states and weak Catholicism are not going to save us from the rapid islamification of Europe. Islam has chosen its moment well. As an adjunct though I beleive that Jesus of Nazareth defeated the dark forces of evil on the cross so perhaps all may be well.
