Jordan bans Halloween after Muslim Brotherhood condemns it as “homosexual and Satanic”

Oct 31, 2014 10:00 am By Robert Spencer

“Allah did not create man so that he could have fun. The aim of creation was for mankind to be put to the test through hardship and prayer. An Islamic regime must be serious in every field. There are no jokes in Islam. There is no humor in Islam. There is no fun in Islam. There can be no fun and joy in whatever is serious.” — Ayatollah Khomeini

“Jordan bans ‘gay, Satanic’ Halloween,” by Darren Wee, GayStarNews, October 31, 2014 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):

Jordan has banned Halloween fearing of a backlash from Muslim fundamentalists who condemn the festival as ‘homosexual and Satanic.’

Ministry of Interior spokesperson Ziad Al Zoubi confirmed the decision to Al Ghad daily. He said all sorts of activities surrounding Halloween had been banned to prevent a repeat of the previous two years’ riots in the capital Amman.

The ministry was forced to make the ban public after several groups asked the department permission to hold celebrations.

In 2012, the Muslim Brotherhood attacked Halloween celebrations and set fire to a cafe where a party was being held.

‘We watched with disgust and shame last night homosexual and Satanic rituals in an Amman cafe. This presents a challenge to the values of the Jordanian people and their Arab and Muslim identity, as well as a violation of religious laws,’ the group said in a statement on its website.

They even demanded the party organisers be tried for the ‘grotesque act.’

I am certainly not a Muslim, but as a Christian I can’t support the demonic aspect of Halloween either. Innocent fun is one thing, drunken ,destructive behaviour is another and that is often what it turns into in our part of the world.

The typical American Hallowe’en (as I was taught to spell in in 3rd grade) dates only to post WW1, and has nothing to do with the Celtic day of Samhain.

However, it makes no sense to observe Hallowe’en if you’re not going to observe the Western Christian holy days of All Saints and All Souls.

Here’s *my* suggestion to any Catholic or Anglican or Lutheran or Orthodox congregations whose priests / pastors/ rectors *are* awake up to the meaning and menace of Islam and aware of the terrible suffering of non-Muslim minorities under Muslim rule, and of those non-Muslim countries that, past or present, endured the horror of being invaded/ raided by Muslims from next door:

The Feasts of All Saints, and of All Souls, offer the perfect opportunity for intercession, commemoration, and **consciousness-raising**, to remind people of the history and of what is happening now.

Imagine if on the Feast of All Saints there was a huge service celebrating – maybe as part of a whole day of prayer and worship and information-sharing about – the saints, martyrs and confessors – past and PRESENT – who lived out their lives and/ or endured martyrdom in the context of unrelenting Muslim assault upon the church. There are the Martyrs of Otranto – and the many former Muslims turned-Christian who have been murdered by Al Shabaab in Somalia. There are the many Coptic and Assyrian Christians and Nigerian and Pakistani Christians who have been martyred just in the past two years. Imagine if, in the grounds of a church, one set out little candle-lanterns, one for each of those Christians who – just in the past year, or two years, or ten years – are *known* to have been killed because of their faith, by Muslims. Groups like Barnabas Fund can surely supply the names and stories of *many* such.

Why not hold a procession and a public Event?? Pass round the hat for Open Doors or Voice of the Martyrs or Barnabas Fund or similar, and all write letters demanding that governments use what leverage they have, on behalf of persecuted *Christians*…and not to forget other persecuted non-Muslim minorities, either.

And then there’s the feast of All Souls. Why not use that as an occasion on which to mourn all the estimated 270 million souls who have been murdered by Muslim jihad (or died as a result of Muslim depredation and oppression, slave-taking etc) in the course of the past 1400 years of Jihad? Let them be remembered. Let them be mourned. Ring the passing bells solemnly from dawn till dusk; perform a requiem or memorial. Pray for all of those non-Muslim communities, trapped within or living next door to the regions darkened by Islam, that are presently in mortal danger. Again, done right, it could be a great consciousness-raiser.

Nonsense. I can celebrate what I want, how I want, and even when. And your history (and spelling) are also suspect.

The point here is if some Catholic priest doesn’t like Halloween, in America anyway, we don’t expect death threats, arson, and murder.

Let a hundred flowers bloom. Do what you want, within reason, in your own space. Eat the flesh of your god and drink his blood, I don’t care.

        Just leave me alone.

Yes,Halloween,or Holy Eve,from the Old English is the day before All saints and is an ancient English Church festival. The superstitious used to believe that spirits walked abroad on Holy Eve,nor necessarily evil spirits. The English took it to America;it died out completely in England and was imported into England from the US quite recently,25 – 30 years ago in it’s present form.

I don’t belong to any religion, so as a complete agnostic I can’t support Halloween either. It often turns into a demonstration of decadent behaviour that is not what I like to call “fun”. I’m not for banning it though, but good on the Muslims to steer clear of that kind of Western social decay that Halloween just amplifies further.

        What utter rubbish.

I don’t know what sort of people *you* socialise with.

I’ve just come back from a Hallow’een party with my husband. I was dressed as Morticia, he was Uncle Fester. We watched fireworks, had delicious punch, wine, and food, there were lots of children dressed up, ducking for apples, playing games, and we had a great time.

No-one was drunk, decadent, or exhibited symptoms of ‘Western social decay’.

You’re either a po-faced misery, or you routinely socialise with drunken decadent characters, or you’re a troll. I vote for troll, probably mohammedan. Get lost.

By the way, for Alex, here’s another example of good Muslims steering “clear of that kind of Western social decay” for their children:

I’ve got to say that the only Halloween I know is kids dressed up in weird costumes going from house to house collecting candy. It’s become pretty bizarre if adults have taken to using the occasion to behave like imbeciles. For some it’s a case of ‘Any occasion to get drunk, get lawless, and behave like imbeciles’, but in my civilized neighbourhood I haven’t seen any of this.

Right now I, a grandfather with a 6 year-old granddaughter in my custody, wouldn’t deny her the fun of going from door to door. (Mind you, my son takes her round).

My impression is that this is an old Celtic customs involving the belief that long dead relatives return to life for one night on Halloween night. For this event food was left out. (I wonder who took it away afterwards when no relatives turned up?) Then it got into the ‘trick or treat’ matter after the custom was brought to North America. I’ve heard that satanists use the occasion to do strange things, but have no idea if this is true.

Hallowe’en is mostly a harmless children’s holiday—dressing up and trick or treating. The idea that it is primarily about “drunken destructive behavior” is just rot.

I attended two Hallowe’en parades this weekend—mostly families and small children and lots of pet dogs, and both sponsored by neighborhood Chambers of Commerce.

      Not exactly “demonic”…

I’ve never seen “Edison” posting, incidentally; and now we hear from “Alex”, whom I have never seen posting, either:

…good on the Muslims to steer clear of that kind of Western social decay that Halloween just amplifies further.
      …………………………….

Yeah—it’s “decadent” to let kids trick or treat or go to Hallowe’en parties or parades.

But Alex apparently considers Muslim treatment of children much less decadent: letting little kids play with *real*—not rubber—severed heads in the Islamic State:

“Islamic State children play with severed heads and enjoy crucifixions”

      http://www.jihadwatch.org/2014/09/islamic-state-children-play-with-severed-heads-and-enjoy-crucifixions

And many little Muslim girls will not be able to trick or treat, in any case, because they will be at home being raped by their “husbands”. Even in “moderate” Jordan, a third of all marriages are to underage girls—in many parts of Dar-al-Islam, the situation is even worse.

As for costumes, the only one I have seen commonly used for small Muslim children is *suicide bomber*:

      http://chasblogspot.blogspot.com/2006/04/how-to-raise-suicide-bomber.html

The above site features a whole slew of little Muslim boys dressed as suicide bombers—surely much less “decadent” than the dragons, ladybugs, and bumblebees you find so often in the decadent West for babies and toddlers.

      *Good God*…

        Bravo, Gravenimage,
It amazes me when non muslims and muslims alike talk about the decadence of the west and its pernicious infiltration and corruption of the islamic society. Such society where there is no limit in age for a female to indulge in sex with a much older man, a society that stones a woman to death if acccused of adultery, floggs raped women and accuses them of having sex outside of marriage, were men kill the female in their family to clean their honor, a culture that sanctions
necrophilia, where a husband is allowed to have sex with the corpse
of his deceased wifeup to 12 hrs after her death as a way to say good-
bye, where they still use crucifixion, or cutting the hand or foot of a
thief, and their favorite activity-beheading another human being with
a dull knife to inflict the most pain, not to mention the hanging of homosexuals from a crane…. and list goes on and on of all the
horrid practices of this cult which dwells in violence and blood, and
the only solution for anything they don’t agree is DEATH! There are
some aspects of Halloween I don’t agree, but I’m free not to use it in
my front yard. And as far as I know it’s all done in fun. Little kids and
adult dress up in costumes and have fun.Kids go out trick or treating
and get candy.Thats all. The parties that I’ve gone has nothing
decadent or evil. But the list of EVIL and decadence in islam which is
part of their daily “normal” lives , which does not need a special
celebration.Lets add , men can have 4 wives and discard them easily by sayin, I divorce you 3X? How abou “temporary wives” which is a form of islamic sanctioned prostitution… and the list goes on..It makes me sick.

Agreed, MTB. Whatever the problems of the modern West—and there are some serious ones, no doubt—they *pale* in comparison with the horrors of Islam.

Moreover, none of these problems are sacralized in the West, as are all the horrors you list under Islam.

I regularly work on issues like literacy, human trafficking, and humane treatment of animals—but none of these are the problems in the West that they are in barbaric Islam, and no one who works on these problems is going to be thrown in prison or murdered for their work as they might well be in the Muslim world after being labeled “un-Islamic”.

By the way, the most “evil” thing that happened last night is that I had a couple more mini Butterfingers than I should have while handing out candy to the little ones.

For the Muslim Brotherhood to call Halloween Satanic brings to mind the old saying “That’s like the pot calling the kettle black.” The Muslim Brotherhood has no room to talks for all the evil that Islamic entity spawns. In addition, one subject that very much goes with Halloween is vampire myth. According to folklore vampires or both dangerous and deadly. The point being, in reality there are no vampires. Nevertheless, in the real world there is something that is very dangerous and deadly. That being the militant Muslims with their violent and murderous actions of their jihad for Islam.

Isn’t it time we organize? I’m asking this mainly of the non-Muslims, although I know Muslims who I believe would share these thoughts but live in fear of the clerics who rule their lives and worry what might happen to them if they supported customs like Halloween. I have to admit I only recently begun paying attention to the negative impact of Islam. I was raised in the Christian faith and over time, with travel and observation and understanding of other peoples, became a non-believer, but I still respect other people’s right to follow their own beliefs, providing those beliefs do not impinge on others. Last night (October 31, 2014) our family spent the evening handing out candy to kids at our front door. I did this as a kid myself, as did my own children. Frankly, we never even knew the historical background of what for our families has always been just a chance for everyone, kids and adults alike, to dress up and have fun. Yes, as adults we have been to some parties but they have never reached “satanic” proportions nor ever got “out of hand,” although I don’t overlook others among you may have had experiences different from mine. But what is self-evident is that Islam is impinging on others on a worldwide scale, and is doing so in a vile and dangerous way. Likewise, it is impinging on my Muslim friends’ lives, who are helpless to do anything about it, friends who are told to give money to CAIR and ISNA because they are charities, even though past evidence has shown those Islamic organizations have funneled that money to terrorists. Isn’t it time we organize and plan ahead? I would recommend those of you who read this post continue to follow Jihad Watch, and I would recommend the only other source I consult, Act For America. I would be appreciative, too, if you could suggest to me (1) other similar sites you would recommend, and (2) your own suggestions as to how we, of all faiths and non-faiths, might gather our might to prevent what appears to be the growth of another Hitler-like, oppressive, social tumor built on fear from spreading throughout this grand earth of ours which already is under threat from so many thoughtless actions by us humans. – May the Force Be With You

The Ayatollah was wrong: there are plentyof jokes in islam; Muhammad himself cracked wise a lot of the time.

In fact, the silly notion about the “Greater” and “Lesser” jihads, only came about because, as Moe and his gang of murderous extortionists were returning home from a hard slog of war-mongering rape and pillaging in the desert, Moe quipped to them: “You think waging war on infidels in the desert heat is hard? That, my friends, is only the “lesser” jihad! The Greater Jihad now begins, for now I am facing my hordes of squabbling wives!”

And let’s not forget the droll racist insults peppered throughout the Qur’an and ahadiths about those pesky “Blacks,” whom Moe calls “Pub-nosed Raisin-heads with Donkey-cocks who carry the plague,” and quips about how, “If you throw a Black off a cliff, he’d probably snap his fingers to keep time all the way down!”

    Sho ‘muff, Muhammad, mah bruthuh!
