Turkey’s values and behaviour have changed radically in recent years, especially under the rule of convicted Islamist and president Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The country no longer shares the same human and political values as the rest of NATO, and in connection with the Islamic State’s war against fellow NATO members, it has become clear that Turkey can not be a trusted ally if the enemy also adheres to the same strict interpretation of Islam as that of Turkey’s present rulers. This is why Turkey can no longer be member of NATO:
1) Turkey does not support basic human rights, such as free speech, the equality of women and religious freedom, which NATO countries fight and risk lives to protect around the world. Turkey simply does not share these basic, crucial values with the rest of NATO.
2) Turkey allows enemy combatants from the Islamic State to enter from Europe to Syria and Iraq, where they train to kill Europeans — and then allows the jihadis to return to Europe, where they attack the people of fellow NATO countries. According to NATO’s Article 5, members should protect each other, not allow enemy soldiers use their land as a transit for attacking other member countries.
3) Turkey refuses to let NATO members use NATO airbases in Turkey to defend NATO countries against the Islamic State. It is unacceptable that Turkey allows fighters combating NATO states to use Turkish territory, while denying NATO members the use of Turkish territory to fight enemies of NATO countries.
4) Turkey is supporting the Islamic State financially by allowing the transport and sale of the Islamic State’s stolen oil inside Turkey.
5) Turkey has allowed the slaughter of Kurds on the border of Turkey. There are even reports of how Turkey refused to give medical aid to deadly wounded Kurds, while treating Islamic State fighters in Turkish state hospitals. Aiding a warring enemy of NATO members and exhibiting such a cynical approach to solving a local problem with an unwanted population group (the Kurds, not the Islamic State…) is unacceptable behaviour for a NATO member.

Sure, but that must await a new, more conservative, administration in Washington.
Oliver says
You are correct; and consider, we (the US) gives aid to ” freedom fighters” (Free Syrian Army)-who have or had a truce with ISIS.
And after Hamas murdered a baby, our leader asked for restraint (on all sides)-why Hamas tries to rebuild. And the Useless Nation condemns Israel. And, I believe it was Rwanda (or whomever they are or were fighting-and killing tens of thousands–because they were of the wrong tribe) Useless Nations Ambassador called for Israel ( during the recent war) to show restraint.
So, why should (or should I say, would) Washington, or London or Paris or Berlin say anything? they condemn Israel for defending itself (and Turkey called Israel’s “behavior” worse then Hitler in WW2– and the silence was deafening from the above-and indeed, as far as I know, ALL NATO members about that.
And NATO has not said anything about Hamas firing rockets at Israeli
civilians.
So why should they get their heads out of their assholes for Turkey sending terrorists back to their countries?
I forgot who said it, but true-truer now then anytime (except for Thatcher and Reagan) in my lifetime. ” A STATESMAN CARES ABOUT THE NEXT GENERATION. A POLITICIAN ABOUT THE NEXT ELECTION”.
All of our ‘leaders” are scummy politicians, in my view.
Hope don’t mind the rant

You “rant” is spot-on. No need to apologize.
But I would add: Why should NATO still exist? Its purpose was to counter the Warsaw pact alliance; and by its own by-laws was to be used purely as a DEFENSIVE counter-measure against any invasion/aggression by Warsaw pact countries.

I read that Gatestone Institute article – Turkish Muslim Democracy – it’s more of the same – just a little bit further on.
It s a very class driven society. Some poor woman beaten by the police somehow gets more jail time than the police officers who beat her – and then the state finds another criminal in one journalist – who reports on the story with the headline ‘Scandalous’ – which was seen as an insult to the judiciary – if he is convicted may serve a sentence longer than the police – who beat the woman in the first place.
The Turkish have a law called Article 301 – which the EU has tried its level best to get them to get rid of – so it was amended only slightly from – under the law one could be charged with the broad ranging insult to ‘Turkishness’ [Say what!!] – to currently where it is a crime to insult the Turkish nation and its institutions.
Don’t forget Turkey was an Empire and there is this sense about the country – along with the increased religiosity or Islamization.
They are having a stumping fit at the moment – the Turkish have this grand plan to reinvigorate the Ottoman Empire – of which Syria once fell under its control. While NATO forces see ISIS as a priority – they have their sights set on regime change in Syria.
Everyone in the region acknowledges that Turkey has dreams of Empire – including Syria’s Bashar al-Assad.
Questions were raised about Turkey – when the former Danish Prime Minster Rasmussen was to became NATO chief – and Turkey objected to his appointment based on the Danish cartoons. Special accommodations had to be made – to get them to go along with all the other NATO members. Clearly if they were in Europe – they would be doing this all day.

There is also a great article – at Gatestone Institute on Austria.
Austria: Civil Law vs. Sharia Law
http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/4798/austria-sharia-law
The Austrian courts charged Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff with the crime of offending Islam – and as I understand it the initial charge fell through – where the judge would normally say – get out of my court – extraordinarily it is allowed under Austrian law – for the judge to come up with an entirely new charge. Success was now had – and she was required to pay a fine. [She is now trying to appeal in the European court]
A few years down the line – they are desperate to get a grip on the very thing Elisabeth – having spent time in the Islamic world herself – was giving talks in an attempt to warn people about. Apparently Austria has an ‘Islam law’ laying around from one of the old wars – that governed the few Muslims that came in – mainly from the Balkans. Now they want to use the same law – to ask Muslims for a lot more. Foreign funding of mosques is to be cut. Mostly originating from the Turkish government and Arabia – which might mean mosque closures. In addition Muslims will be required to follow the country’s civil laws rather than the imposition of the shari’a. Imams will be required to give sermons in German – and must learn to teach Islam in government approved schools in Austria. In addition they wish to create a German translation consensus Koran that it seems – will be Austrian friendly.
[They don’t do things by halves!!]
Islamic groups are calling the proposed law Islamophobic.
The report states that 60% of Vienna is non-Austrian. It did not state the percentage of Muslims. But clearly there seems to be a growing sense of alarm – that there is no longer the need to dig tunnels under the city to take – Vienna for Islam.

The fact they serve as a base for ISIS(medical and logistical support) proves they have went to the dark side and can no longer be trusted and should be removed ASAP.
Not that Kamalist Turkey was anything to write home about, it wasn’t. Even at it’s most secular, the Turks could not owe up to their collective massacre of Kurds, Armenians and Greeks or their illegal take over of Cyprus.
Wall them off from the rest of Europe.

The Kurk on the board with Turkey are strong supporter of the PKK than Kurk terrorist group in Turkey so why could Turkey help they supporter. Turkey secretly allow NATO to use they air bases. Turkey said they would stop any body from the western world from joining IS but the other nation must tell then their names and other data like passport numbers which the other nation refuse to give then. Turkey willnot stop people traveling thought they terrorities unless those people are names and passport numbers are handed in to the law enforcement in Turkey.

Of course they should be kicked out of NATO they don’t conform to our civilised standards. Until a short while ago there were some raving lunatics who wanted 82 million more Turkish Islamists to join the EU. They seem to have gone very quiet recently. I wonder why ? Check out Turkey’s stats. http://www.cia.gov (world factbook) scary stuff low low standards of everything, high birthrate- the usual stuff from Islamic states.

Utter nonsense. Spain is still far and away the most popular destination for holiday makers. Turkey is way way down the list.
Where are writing from – Istambul?
Cicero says
It is not arrant nonsense to state that Turkey is the most popular holiday destination for the British.
It is the arrant truth. If one moves about British society and enquiries as to their most favoured destination for their holiday the British will declare that it is Turkey. When one asks as to the reason they will cite value for money , the lovely warm weather, the beauty of the country and most important of all the friendliness and hospitality of the Turkish people.
If asked what knowledge they have about the ottoman Caliphate or the fate of the Armenians at the hands of the Turks, or Turkey,s role I. The Second World War , they gaze at one. In uncomprehending fashion.
By the way the second popular destination is …….Dubai!
R Cole says
Spain is by far the favorite holiday destination – for the Brits. It is a familiarity going back some years.
France is next door and a lot of Brits actually live there – with even more living in Spain.

Obama loves Turkey and they have the largest and strongest economy of any Muslim state and are well positioned to re-establish the Ottoman Caliphate.
No-one in Europe will oppose them except Poland and maybe Putin will be nervous.
There will be no more Reagans in US politics to wield a stick. The USA is looking more like Europe. Bureaucrats, narrow provincial interests and powerful lobbies make a national leader’s emergence problematic.

Could not agree more. White Russians who are demographically dying out have been fighting the Chechens and all the ‘Stans’ surrounding them for years with no help nor understanding of their position from the so called West who so you rightly describe as servile dogs or Dhimmis to Islam.
