Pakistani Christian loses appeal against death sentence for “blasphemy”

Oct 16, 2014 12:18 pm By Robert Spencer

asiabibiPakistan’s blasphemy laws are a massive human rights abuse, used to destroy the lives of countless numbers of people, including Asia Bibi. But the world takes little notice. After all, no “Islamophobia” is being committed, so what’s the big deal?

“Pakistani Christian loses appeal against death sentence for blasphemy,” by Mubasher Bukhari, Reuters, October 16, 2014:

LAHORE Pakistan (Reuters) – A Pakistani court upheld the death penalty on Thursday against a Christian woman accused of blasphemy, her lawyer said, in a case that drew global headlines after two prominent politicians who tried to help her were assassinated.

In 2010, Asia Bibi, a mother of four, became the first woman to be sentenced to death under Pakistan’s controversial blasphemy law.

She is alleged to have made derogatory remarks about Islam after neighbours objected to her drinking water from their glass because she was not Muslim.

Bibi’s lawyer, Naeem Shakir, said his client had been involved in a dispute with her neighbours and that her accusers had contradicted themselves.

Two witnesses allegedly involved in the incident did not appear in court, he said. A prayer leader did appear, saying he did not witness the original altercation, but that Bibi had confessed in front of him.

“I was expecting the opposite decision,” Shakir said. “We will file an appeal to the Supreme Court of Pakistan in a few days.”

But Gulam Mustafa, the lawyer for the complainant, said the court’s decision was correct.

“Asia’s lawyer tried to prove that the case was registered on a personal enmity but he failed to prove that,” he said.

After Bibi’s arrest in 2010, two top Pakistani politicians who sought to intervene on her behalf were gunned down, one by his own bodyguard.

Lawyers showered the killer with rose petals when he appeared in court, and the judge who convicted him of murder had to flee the country.

Rights groups say the blasphemy law is increasingly exploited by religious extremists as well as ordinary Pakistanis to settle personal scores. The law does not define blasphemy and evidence might not be reproduced in court for fear of committing a fresh offence. There are no penalties for false accusations….

Blasphemy cases have also been registered against those who have publicly discussed reforming the law.

      And not only the USA.

ALL “aid” to Muslim Pakistan, all trade with Muslim Pakistan (they *do* sell rice and cheap clothing to western countries), indeed ALL relations with Muslim Pakistan, by *all* non-Muslim nations that currently – very stupidly – give such aid and engage in such relations, should be cut off, if Pakistan ritually murders this poor woman. She is being killed for no other reason, at bottom, than that she is a Christian who stated the simple truth: that Jesus was a better person than Mohammed.

Australia and New Zealand and the UK should tell the Pakistan cricket team: you’re not welcome. I’m not a follower of the cricket, so I don’t know how things work; but if there are any Aussie cricketers or aficionados of same, reading this, can you please try to get the ball rolling, so to speak, re. a Cricket Boycott of vile Islamic Pakistan??

The Commonwealth – which is composed of a majority of non-Muslim nations – should give Pakistan the boot; permanently. (I, and all other Aussies, and the Canadians and New Zealanders here present, should be writing post haste to our governments, citing this iniquitous court decision in Pakistan, and *demanding* that we use every bit of leverage we may currently possess, to pressure Pakistan to reverse it. And we should ask our governments to *publicly* offer Asia Bibi – and her entire family, her husband and her children – asylum in our countries).

Well said, dda. We’ve been writing to, and advocating for, Asia for years and many others like her. Her case seems hopeless and it seems only a miracle will get her out of this corrupt and barbaric hellhole.

It’s high time our nations declared a moratorium on Muslim immigration and gave sanctuary to persecuted Christians instead. We would be blessed by doing so. At the moment we’re blindly sealing our fate. I’m beginning to wonder if the rise of Islam is a judgment on the West.

The left and muslims are parallel in that they both want to wipe Christians off the face of the earth.

Meanwhile in Houston the lesbian mayor is now subpoenaing the sermons of Christian pastors who disagree with her. After much criticism she has vowed to reword the subpoenas and reissue them. Persecute and prosecute in Houston Texas.

This article is just one more example of the fact the Islamic has little to no arguments to back up it doctrines,so much as, that Muslim countries feel the need to enact “Blasphemy laws.” The reality is the these type of “laws ” only exist because the teachings of Islam are so weak and flawed that these teachings can’t stand up to or hold up to criticism.

And meanwhile our media is full of whining Muslimahs here in the west who are squawking and crying victim and pretending that they’re being “persecuted”… because, as they go strutting about flaunting the gang colours of the Beheading Gang, a few people here and there are looking at them funny, or making remarks. The very same Muslimahs who would, if in Pakistan, have done to Asia Bibi *exactly* what her Muslim female co-workers did – screamed, yelled, mobbed her and accused her shriekingly of “blasphemy!”, knowing full well that that accusation would get her *killed*.

Paging all UK readers (and anyone from across the Channel who might be able to make it to Britain this Saturday, 18 October 2014.

The British Pakistani Christian Association (new website at this link)

    http://www.britishpakistanichristians.co.uk/

has been campaigning on behalf of this woman for years.

They are going to be holding a PROTEST on Saturday 18 October, to put pressure on the British Government to use whatever leverage it may have, on behalf of Asia Bibi.

“The BPCA have organised a protest for this Saturday from 11:00 – 13:00 at 10 Downing Street. Further information on this will be posted on our blog later today.”

So there you go. If you’ve been wanting to *do* something, here’s an opportunity to stand up and be counted. Put gutless David Cameron on the spot.

To repeat: outside No 10 Downing St, London, between 11 am and 1 pm on Saturday 18 October (which happens to be the Feast of St Luke the Physician, Evangelist and Martyr).

The more people turn up, the better. I don’t know how many people the British Pakistani Christians are expecting, but…wouldn’t it be nice if at least a *thousand* people – UK citizens of all non-Muslim faiths and of no faith, and a goodly contingent from neighbouring countries who have travelled all the way to London to help make the point – turned up on Saturday?? It would be even better if there were two thousand, or three thousand. Let’s have an *Infidel* insta-crowd, for a change.

Go along whether you’re a Christian or not; indeed, it is important that those who are *not* Christians should go, to uphold the general principle of freedom of conscience and freedom of speech.

And: you can use it as an opportunity to educate the general public; before you go, make sure you can explain to any passer by that this oppression of minorities, *and* specifically this suppression of the critique or questioning of Islam, is **mainstream Islam**. Pakistan didn’t make this up; Pakistan is doing it because Pakistan is trying to fulfil the sharia of Islam. Look up the stories of Abu Afak and Asma bint Marwan, non-Muslims who were assassinated by Muslims to “punish” them for daring to mock Mohammed and his band of caravan-robbers, and be ready to tell them.

    More:

“BPCA is calling for global support for her release.

“Please contact your MP’s, and any High Commission/Consulate/Embassy for Pakistan in your respective areas calling for a presidential pardon or better scrutiny of evidence within any proposed Supreme Court hearing.

“Please pray over this whole situation and ask God to give Asia and her family his covering of protection. Asia has had previous assassination attempts whilst in prison, and these will grow with the increasing level of hatred towards minorities, exhibited in modern day Pakistan.”

Maybe there should be highly-embarrassing and visible pray-ins right outside the Pakistani embassies and high commissions.

No reason why American Christians – and all who support freedom of conscience and freedom of speech – shouldn’t gather outside a/ the White House – or the Capitol – and b/ the Pakistani Embassy in Washington, to pray and intercede for Asia Bibi. DEMAND that the US government put pressure on Pakistan for Asia’s release.

No reason why Aussies, and Canadians, could not do similar, in Canberra and in Ottawa. Put our governments on the spot; demand that they use every bit of leverage they’ve got. And make some noise in front of the Pakistani high commissions, as well. L et them see that they’re busted! – that we all know that this is Islam, Islam red in tooth and claw…and that we DESPISE it. That we don’t admire vicious bullies who play cat-and-mouse with an unarmed woman; we DESPISE them.

Massive publicity made a difference for Meriam nee Ibrahim, Mrs Daniel Wani.

The same sort of massive publicity should be mobilised for Asia Bibi, Catholic Christian, of Pakistan.

“She is alleged to have made derogatory remarks about Islam”

Fourteen centuries ago, another woman, a poetess, also made deragotary remarks about the prophet of Islam.
“When the apostle heard what she had said he said, ‘Who will rid me of Marwan’s daughter?’ ” (Biography of the Prophet, Ibn Ishaq p.676)

    http://crossmuslims.blogspot.com/2012/03/assassin-english.html

Since then, violence has been the ONLY way for Islam to survive. Without violence, Islam is DEAD!

The persecution of Christians is an ever-increasing global phenomenon especially in muslim majority countries. Both opendoorsuk.org and releaseinternational have been highlighting Asia Bibi’s plight for some time now. Pakistan’s blasphemy laws show how weak Islam really is. The mantra of no criticism of Mohammed is beginning to collapse and we in the still partly free west must focus on exposing his corrupt life for all to see. I am praying for Asia Bibi and intend to write to the pakistan ambassador in the UK.

Pakistani Christian loses appeal against death sentence for “blasphemy”

Pakistan’s blasphemy laws are a massive human rights abuse, used to destroy the lives of countless numbers of people, including Asia Bibi. But the world takes little notice.
    ……………………………….

No, it doesn’t—including, as many others have already noted, those countries like the United States that are forking over huge amounts of no-strings-attached tribute in the form of “foreign aid”.

If Pakistan’s hiding Osama bin Laden wasn’t enough to wake us up that Pakistan is not ally of ours, this grotesque injustice should be—but I doubt it will be.

    More:

But Gulam Mustafa, the lawyer for the complainant, said the court’s decision was correct.

“Asia’s lawyer tried to prove that the case was registered on a personal enmity but he failed to prove that,” he said.

After Bibi’s arrest in 2010, two top Pakistani politicians who sought to intervene on her behalf were gunned down, one by his own bodyguard.

Lawyers showered the killer with rose petals when he appeared in court, and the judge who convicted him of murder had to flee the country.
    ……………………………….

Anyone who even dares to question the hideous blasphemy laws in Pakistan is in danger of being charged with blasphemy themselves—or just murdered by pious “believers” on their own, and met with the adulation of the Mohammedan masses for doing so.

No Christian or other Infidel is safe their—nor any Muslim so “insufficiently Islamic” as to have any personal qualms about these atrocities.

This is a ‘Crime Against Humanity” among a long list of crimes against humanity that islam really is. Drinking from a glass of water of a musleema by a non-muslim? Then the accusing finger pointing by the musleemsas? I hope somewhere on this planet that scores are being kept for the brutality of islam and all that have murdered in its name will be put on war crimes trials, then after conviction, hanged. War crimes trials were good enough for the Nazis, should be good enough for the immans, islam clerics and their followers that these men point to kill women and children.

“War crimes trials were good enough for the Nazis, should be good enough for the immans, islam clerics and their followers that these men point to kill women and children.”

    Well said, PT.

And why do the imams do and preach what they do; why do their followers do what they do?

One basic reason: Sunnah of their prophet, and the tenets put into practice in that sunnah, spelled out in the book he brought, The “Qur’an.”

Those too, need to be entered as evidence, disclosing why jihadist after jihadist killed, maimed, set fire to, robbed, raped, beheaded; invaded homes, binding and gagging his victims; weaponized his vehicle, or his laboratory access and scientific skills and knowledge used therein, or any other innovative “weapons” used in Allah’s cause.
