Remember: Christians in the West are not to speak of such things. To do so would harm the “dialogue”: “Talk about extreme, militant Islamists and the atrocities that they have perpetrated globally might undercut the positive achievements that we Catholics have attained in our inter-religious dialogue with devout Muslims.” — Robert McManus, Roman Catholic Bishop of Worcester, Massachusetts, February 8, 2013.
“Parish priest, 20 Christians kidnapped in Syria,” Reuters, October 7, 2014:
ROME, Oct 7 (Reuters) – A parish priest and a number of Christians have been kidnapped from a Syrian village near the border with Turkey, the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem said on Tuesday.
The Latin Patriarchate, which oversees Latin Church Catholics in Israel and neighbouring countries, said Father Hanna Jallouf had been kidnapped on the night of Oct. 5 in Knayeh, a small Christian village. It said his kidnappers were brigades linked to the Islamist Nusra Front.
The statement said there had been no contact with the priest, whose church is part of the Catholic church, or his captors and added that a number of Franciscan nuns in the village had taken refuge with local people.
Catholic news agency Fides, quoting Bishop Georges Abou Khazen, the Apostolic Vicar of Aleppo in Syria, said around 20 Christians were taken along with the priest. “Among the kidnapped are young people, both boys and girls,” he was quoted as saying.
The Latin Patriarchate said members of the Franciscan order had been present in the village for more than a century.
Islamist fighters have targeted Christians, members of the Yazidi sect and Shi’ite Muslims in a campaign in Syria and neighbouring Iraq that has killed thousands and forced almost 2 million Iraqis to flee their homes.

This is because he has been accused of a crime, (although released on bail) and in Britain it is illegal to comment on a public forum on cases that are ”sub judice”.
However, you’ll note this doesn’t stop this pos from slamming the police et al on twitter.

Looks like Bishop McManus going to insist, absolutely insist, that his noon time cocktails be moved up to 10AM. To calm his nerves, you understand. For purely medicinal purposes.
The truth about Islam has been sneaking up on him, and it’s disquieted his nerves. “My parishioners might actually think I’m a bit of a fool for not informing myself on the true nature of Islam. Well, so be it. Bottoms up.”
Beagle says
McManus has a very good point. As yet, Muslims have not forcibly converted, enslaved, kidnapped, raped, and summarily executed Christians in and around Massachusetts. Boston Marathon bombings? Meh.
Winning!

the problem is Vatican II which changed the interaction of the Church with modernity. Among other things, the standing of Judaism was upgraded and with it unfortunately the other “Abrahamitic” faith: islam.
It would need need another Vatican council or a papal declaration invoking his infallibility to change the status of islam.
I hope that is coming soon.
Today is the day the Mohammedans were defeated by the Holy League near Lepanto. It is the Day of the Our Lady of the Victory in the Catholic Calendar.

Speaking of which, everyone should read this. Simply fantastic.

Hey, McManus, check it out.

Thanks for the link.
Great article. Copied, saved, bookmarked.
I am familiar with the Chesterton poem about the Battle of Lepanto.
I observe the article also contained a discussion of the victory at Vienna, September 11 1683.
BTW, I would encourage *any* Tolkien fans here present – whether they know Lord of the Rings from the book, or from the movies, or both – to read the article Beagle just linked, and *read* the account of the Siege of Vienna by the marauding Muslim hordes, and of how it was lifted, and the city – and all of Western Europe – thereby rescued. Because you will notice all sorts of things – correspondences – between the real-life Siege and Rescue of Vienna, 1683, and Tolkien’s fictional Siege of Gondor and the rescue effected by the Rohirrim, that tell me that Tolkien *must* have known the story of the Siege and Rescue of Vienna, 1683. I hasten to say I am not arguing that Tolkien was writing allegory; just that I think that certain episodes in real-life history was shaping – or inspiring – his imagination.

The Vatican II statements about Islam and the more recent ones by Pope Francis are not dogma and are open to be revised once the Pope and others realize that dialogue with Islam is a non starter and hopefully they will learn a bit of hit of histiory about the time of the Battle of Lepanto (1571) on thi s very day, and September 11 1683 and the rout of the Turks at the gates of Vienna by the Poles. Both battles were won thanks to a large extent vigorous efforts of the Popes of those days, St, Pius Vi in 1571, and Blessed Innocent XI, also with the help of a Capuchin Friar, Marco Avellino, also blessed.

You got that right Sir. I too am a LR Catholic. Today’s feast is also that of the Holy Rosary, v. which the Mohammedan hordes at Lepanto-and today-were/are powerless.
Indeed it is to be hoped another Council will come; otherwise this insane relativism will continue to fuel the PC abominations.

Hi, Kathy.
”I too am a LR Catholic”
I googled LR Catholic, but couldn’t find anything. What does it mean ?

I think it’s probably short for “Latin Rite Catholic”, that is, someone who prefers to worship using the Latin liturgy.

It is stuff like the above paragraph and this is why I had to reject CCC #841 outright incidents such attacks on Christians by Muslims make ANY “dialogue” not possible, PERIOD.
