Clearly Erol Incedal has trouble distinguishing friends (or Useful Idiots) from enemies. Ironically in light of Blair’s fulsome praise for the Qur’an, Incedal’s note is an amalgamation of these Qur’an passages (not that this has anything to do with Islam):
“O ye who believe! Fight those of the disbelievers who are near to you, and let them find harshness in you, and know that Allah is with those who keep their duty (unto Him).” — Qur’an 9:123
“And why should ye not fight in the cause of Allah and of those who, being weak, are ill-treated (and oppressed)? Men, women, and children, whose cry is: “Our Lord! Rescue us from this town, whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from thee one who will protect; and raise for us from thee one who will help!” — Qur’an 4:75
“Terrorism trial hears of possible plot to assassinate Tony Blair,” by Ian Cobain, The Guardian, October 14, 2014:
A man accused of plotting a terrorist attack on the streets of the UK may have been planning to kill Tony Blair and his wife, Cherie Booth, an Old Bailey jury has heard.
Erol Incedal, 26, from south London, is alleged to have been plotting to attack one prominent person, or a small number of people, or perhaps planning an indiscriminate attack on a hotel, similar to that mounted in Mumbai, India, in 2008.
The former prime minister’s home address was found in Incedal’s black Mercedes car when it was pulled over for a road traffic matter and searched in September last year, Richard Whittam QC, prosecuting, told the court on Tuesday.
After a listening device was placed in the car Incedal was recorded talking about the need to find an “illegal house”, to avoid moving material around. When the car was stopped the following month, by police who fired shotgun rounds into the tyres, Incedal was arrested along with Mounir Rarmoul-Bougadjar, also 26 and from south London.
Both men had SD memory cards wrapped in masking tape inside the cases of their Apple iPhones, Whittam said. On the cards were three files about bomb making.
The jury heard that Rarmoul-Bouhadjar had admitted possession of the documents.
Incedal denies preparing acts of terrorism and possessing the documents.
Whittam said the piece of paper with the address of a property owned by the Blairs written on it was found inside Incedal’s glasses case. Also discovered at that time was a notebook bearing the handwritten note: “Oh you the believers, fight those of the infidel who are near to you. Why do you not fight in Allah’s cause for those oppressed men, women and children who cry out: ‘Rescue us from this town.’”
