But, but, but, Tim McVeigh! “4 Sunni Muslim Groups Responsible for 66% of All 17,958 Terror Killings in 2013,” by Patrick Goodenough, CNS News, November 19, 2014 (thanks to Jerk Chicken):
(CNSNews.com) – The number of people killed by terrorists worldwide in 2013 rose by 60 percent compared to the previous year – from 11,133 to 17,958 – with four Sunni Muslim extremist groups responsible for two-thirds of all fatalities, according to a comprehensive annual study.
Eighty-two percent of fatalities occurred in just five countries – Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nigeria and Syria, although the number of countries that experienced more than 50 terror-related deaths also rose – to 24, compared with 15 the previous year.
Among the many findings in the new Global Terrorism Index, a project of the nonprofit Institute for Economics and Peace, is one that calls into question claims that poverty is a key driver of terrorism.
“One of the most important findings in this report is that there is not a strong statistical link between poverty and terrorism,” it says. “Many people who join terrorist groups in wealthy countries are well educated and come from middle class families.”
“Other measures which didn’t correlate include life expectancy, mean years of schooling and economic factors such as GDP growth.”
Socio-economic, governance and attitudinal variables that showed the most significant correlation with terrorism were political stability, intergroup cohesion and legitimacy of the state.
The report also found that “religion” as a driving ideology for terrorism has jumped significantly in the last five years, and accounts for most of the terror activity in the Middle East and North Africa, South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.
As a driver for terrorist groups, religion far outstrips “politics,” which tends to dominate attacks in the Western Hemisphere and is responsible for about half of them in Europe; and “national separatist” ideology, which accounts for the vast majority of attacks in Russia and former Soviet Union areas, and about half of attacks in Europe and about one-third in the Asia-Pacific….

If poverty is the main reason for terrorism, then there should be a disproportionate number of Haitian, Dominican, Jamaican and Puerto Rican Christian terrorists, but there aren’t.
Tim says
Poverty has never been the cause of terrorism. And there’s been volumes of studies supporting that. Its mind boggling how no one seem to want to find what the actual cause is (Islam) and openly admit it.
Tracy says
Article said poverty is not a driving factor.

Also, while Tim McVeigh was from an Irish-Catholic background, he and Terry Nichols (I don’t know what Nichols’ religious background was, or if he had one) never claimed to be motivated by religion; rather, they stated that they were afraid of the U.S. government becoming too powerful, and violating the rights of gun owners (not that they were justified in the mass-murder terrorist attack).
Shane says
That’s an important fact that liberals and Muslims ignore. Thousands of Muslims are killing because of their religion while few Christians or Jews are killing because of their religion. The motivation for terrorist acts is very important.

… perhaps it should be known as the religion of peace and terrorism.

Or just the RELIGION of DEATH and DARKNESS

I have been reading historical accounts of the life of Muhammad, including
The Truth About Muhammad by Robert Spencer. Muhammad seized control
of territory and conscripted converts through the use of force ,extremely violent at times. He financed his ongoing jihad efforts by plundering other people and forcing servitude on them with heavy taxation (jizya).
In short Muhammad’s life looked very similar to the actions of ISIS. Given that scenario, I don’t expect things to change anytime soon. Certainly not for the better.

Salafist Wahhabism is the ideology of the House of Saud which is responsible for teaching this ideology in all their school curricula, as well as exporting this Death Cult philosophy to Islamic schools around the world.
Those who lost loved ones should SUE THE HOUSE OF SAUD for damages!
There should be sanctions against Soddy Barbaria as long as they promote this Death Cult.

“Those who lost loved ones should SUE THE HOUSE OF SAUD for damages!”
This is actually a pretty good idea. If nothing else, it could generate a lot more uncomfortable focus on them what they are doing.

So I guess the guys in the photo follow the Islamic fashion of Hold Up A LIquor Store Balacalva Jihadi, rather than the more trendy Bad 1980’s Ninja Movie Jihadi look favored by ISIS.

“Jordan’s parliament recited a prayer for the murderers! ”
“On Wednesday, Jordan’s parliament offered a prayer in honor of the spirit of Ghassan Abu Jamal and Uday Abu Jamal – the terrorists who slaughtered five people.
The prayer was held as the House of representatives session opened.
MP Khalil Attieh requested his fellow representatives to recite the Fatiha for the “spirit of the heroes.”
The Fatiha is the first chapter of the Koran, recited on important occasions.
Attieh further declared that the murders were a “natural reaction to the occupation crimes against the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Palestinians.”
In addition, MP Mohammed Al-Qatathh of the House of Representatives issued a statement to the assembly condemning the “Zionist attack on Jerusalem and its people” in the wake of “the heroic operation” on the synagogue in Har Nof.
Moreover, a Jordanian clan opened up a mourning tent in Jordan’s capital in honor of the terrorists.
Earlier in the day the Jordanian minister of media affairs pretended to condemn the attacks but only issued a vague statement that the government of Jordan “condemns the targeting of civilians, and denounce all acts of violence and terrorism against civilians, no matter who or why it is done.” The condemnation was not nearly as specific as the honor for the terrorists given in Parliament.
Perhaps the US State Department should be asked to comment on how our ally’s representatives praise terror attacks.”

When the Muslim “moderates” criticize the “extremists”, it is often a matter of whose balloon is being pricked. It so happens the Muslim Brotherhood and ISIS both share a view that existing governments, including the extremely strict government of Saudi Arabia, are not sufficiently Islamic and ought to be over thrown.
So, it is no wonder to see the governments in the area opposing ISIS and the Muslim Brotherhood. It happens that Queen Rania is thoroughly westernized, and does not want to wear a veil or burka, so of course she supports a “modern” interpretation of Islam.
Don’t get me wrong. The desire of the pampered princes in Saudi Arabia and the revered royal family of Jordan to save their own Islamic skins is definitely useful. But, we should never confuse their actions in their own self-interest to mean they are friends, or to be trusted.
This is an insightful analysis of how the Saudi government puts its own existence ahead of support for a true Islamic state.

Jordan isn’t really all that “moderate”—certainly, they don’t follow an Islam somehow different from that of iSIS. Just like Saudi Arabia—who few would consider moderate—they just realize that ISIS represents a threat to their continued rule.

17,958 Terror Killings…The so called ‘terrorists’, killed no one…
Quran 8:17. “It is not you who slew them; it was Allah who killed them. It was not you (Muhammad) who threw (a handful of dust), it was not your act, but it was Allah who threw (the sand into the eyes of the enemy at Badr) in order that He might test the [Muslim] Believers by doing them a gracious favor of His Own: for Allah is He Who hears and knows.”
This absolves the individual of personal responsibility. ‘You didn’t do that, Allah did it…as a test… that never ends. It is still going on and Allah is still doing gracious favors by killing the enemy so the pious don’t have to feel guilty about it. Allah the killer…Not only that, he’s one mean SOB, and a terrorist in his own right 8:12….No wonder Mahoundians are afraid of him…

So if just 4 Sunni groups were responsible for 66% of all recorded terrorist murders in 2013, who did the other 34%? Renegade members of the world wide Boy Scout movement of course, all armed with their woggles. Couldn’t possibly be members of the Religion of Peace!
bernie says
The other 34 percent could have been done by the Amish, many of whom fly into murderous rages whenever someone makes fun of them for speaking Pennsylvania Dutch, extolling pacifism, living without electricity or modern technology, or looking relatively backwards compared to Mennonites.

Has anyone else noticed how that “Islamic Terrorist” attacks meter on the right-hand side of the JW page keeps picking up speed? It’s getting increasingly worse…
Coolio says
The disparity in numbers of deaths (RoP 33k vs. GTI 18k) is most likely due to the different organisations’ definition of what constitutes a terrorist attack – the Religion of Peace includes many comparatively small yet deadly attacks such as ‘honour’ killings. Even the GTI’s number however represents the equivalent of six 9/11 attacks a year. If the 60% growth rate were to be maintained then by 2025 (in 10 years) we will see around 5 million people a year killed, and by 2032 (in 17 years), 100 million deaths a year.
The reactive response of governments to the growing phenomenon of Islamic terrorism is woefully lacking, indeed, completely ineffective, since it completely fails to address the underlying cause. Until that cause is addressed, we can look forward to a continuation and escalation of these never-ending cycles of extreme violence, murder and mayhem.
