Pakistan Christian leader asks Obama to condition US aid on blasphemy law repeal

Nov 10, 2014 6:57 am By Robert Spencer

christians-in-pakistan-Nazir-Bhatti-SpeaksObama should have gotten this idea on his own. It should have been done long ago. Indeed, I have long recommended that there be no U.S. aid for any country that oppresses women and non-Muslims, denies the freedom of speech and the freedom of conscience, etc. But even now, Obama will pay no attention to Nazir Bhatti, and the persecution of Christians and Ahmadis by means of the blasphemy law will continue.

“Nazir Bhatti writes letter to President Obama to condition US Aid to Pakistan on repeal of blasphemy law,” Pakistan Christian Post, November 10, 2014 (spelling and grammar as in the original):

Philadelphia: November 9, 2014. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC expressed his surprise in a letter to US President Barak Obama that US Administration which is custodian of Human Rights, Liberty and freedom of speech and expression around world not bothered to condemn horrific murder of Christian couple by Islamic extremists in Islamic Republic of Pakistan nor US State department uttered any comments on Christian persecution and genocide of Christians.

Nazir Bhatti wrote that Shahzad Masih and his wife Shama Bibi were burnt alive by Muslim mob on November 4, 2014, in furnace of brick kiln factory where they were detained as bonded labor by one Mohammad Yousaf Gujjar near Kot Rada Kishan in district Kasur of Punjab province.

Dr. Nazir Bhatti urged US Administration to condemn burning alive of Christian couple, press upon Islamic Republic of Pakistan to repeal blasphemy laws and to condition aid to Pakistan on human rights.

Here are contents of letter of Dr. Nazir S Bhatti to US President;

President of USA,

Mr. Barak Obama,

Sir,

Christian couple burnt alive by Muslim on accusation of blasphemy in Pakistan

As your honor is custodian of freedom, liberty and human rights around world, I wish to invite you kind attention towards a sad incident in which a Christian couple is tortured and burnt alive in furnace of brick kiln factory on false and fabricate accusations of blasphemy by Muslim mob near Kot Rada Kishan in district Kasur of Punjab province of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

On November 4, 2014, Shahzad Masih and his wife Shama Bibi who were bonded laborer of Brick Kiln Factory owner Mohammad Gujjar were locked up and to teach them lesson on fleeing away he accused them of burning pages of Quran and send his Muslim employees to nearby villages to announce from loudspeakers of mosques that come and punish blasphemer Christian couple.

It is surprising that neither US Administration under your honor nor US State Department even bothered to condemn this horrific crime of burning live of Christian couple by a mob living in country named Islamic Republic of Pakistan which is receiving billions of aid of US taxpayers.

I would appeal your honor to put pressure on government of Pakistan to end misuse of blasphemy laws against Christian, Ahamadiyyia and other religious minorities and condition US Aid to Pakistan on human rights and repeal of blasphemy laws.

Thanks

Dr. Nazir S Bhatti

President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC

Ayaan Hirsi Ali suggested this very thing several years ago in a Newsweek magazine article entitled, “The War Against Christians: the Rise of Christophobia in the Islamic World.” She not only mentioned Pakistan, but also Egypt, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia as offending nations.

As much as many people are currently slagging and demonizing Israel, it is currently the only nation in the Middle East in which Christians seem to have basic rights, though perhaps Malaysia, the UAE and Qatar aren’t as bad as most other Muslim nations in that respect.

You left out Lebanon, where Christians actually have roles in the national government enshrined in their Constitution.

As for Israel, it is true the Christians have rights there, but hard to ignore the lack of rights they inflict upon others.

BTW – the blasphemy laws in question pre-date Obama’s election as President in many of the Arab countries. Similar laws exist elsewhere – should we stop giving any country aide that does not endorse a full set of rights? How about African countries that ban homosexuality? Or China’s ban on many religions, and persecution of Christians and Buddhists?

For starters, why do we give any aide, and any business to, Saudi Arabia, the most conservative, rights-denying Arab county in the Middle East? Oh, yeah, the Saudi royal family are personally tight friends with the entire Bush clan, due to the oil connections. Nearly all of the 9/11 terrorists were Saudis…yet on 9/12 Bush packed up Bin Laden’s family in the US on private jets and ensured they got home safely, and no repercussions ever followed.

But sure, blame it on the black man in the White House….

The ONLY reason we give money to this shit hole country is to have some control over their nukes. Once we stop doing that, their will be no allegiance at all (not that there is much) and those nukes will find their ways to our shores.

We should infiltrate their military, confiscate those nukes and cut all funding asap.

Is Ben Affleck not going to come forward now and accuse Dr. Nazir Bhatti (a man of Indian race) of being A RACIST?

Why not? He is making the same claims about Islam that others make…claiming Islam is unfair to minorities.

Let me show you what I mean “IT’S RACIST TO CRITICIZE ISLAM!”

Pres. Obama can ignore the kiln murders because Dr. Nazir Bhatti is a racist.

Since everything the cultural Marxists dislike is ‘racist’…the word becomes no more meaningful than saying ‘I dislike x’.

The US administration , like the rest of the world would demonize a democratic country such as Israel than insult our real enemies. They would rather spend money and blood to protect some Muslim countries that castigate women and stifle free practice of religion.

I totally agree with your recommendations, Mr. Spencer!

Why should America support countries that are fully affirmed enemies/nemeses of our free moral conscious? If the US Gov continues to completely ignore the broken agreements signed by the monetary aid recipients, the US will be aiding and betting in high crimes…our Nation’s hands will continue to be soaked in human blood as it is now!

There is no reason why the Islamosavvy in the USA and not only in the USA but everywhere else cannot pick up this letter and run with it.

In the USA, people could send copies of it to their Congresspeople and Senators, and ask *them* to read it in Congress and Senate. Imagine if someone in Congress – or a *lot* of people in Congress, one after another! – were to stand up and read it out loud, to the President’s face. Put him on the spot!

Nothing , either, to stop a lot of concerned citizens gathering outside the White House and reading it out loud.

Don’t allow Obama to ignore it. Rub his nose in it! Shout it in his ears, day and night. Spread it far and wide.

And those of us who are not Yanks can read through Mr Bhatti’s letter, look at the points it is making, and then work out how to adapt it for our *own* government leaders…who should *also* be speaking up.

Indeed, during these days of The Madness of Uncle Sam, it is imperative that other nations should speak.

We’re all in trouble, we’ve all got governments that are ill-informed and/ or appeasing…but that is no excuse, those of us who do know have to try to hold our leaders’ feet to the fire. Then *they* will have no excuse, and our own consciences will be clear, because we will know we have done what we could.

In the UK, the British Pakistani Christian association – who held a protest outside No 10 Downing Street, and then another protest right on the front doorstep of the Pakistani High Commission in London, as soon as the news came through that Asia Bibi’s latest appeal against her death sentence for “blasphemy!” had been rejected – are demanding that the *UK* government should use aid as a lever to put pressure on Pakistan re the blasphemy law.

Here’s an account of their protest.

    http://www.britishpakistanichristians.co.uk/blog/hundreds-of-pakistani-christians-turn-up-for-protest-and-asia-bibi-re-enactment-outside-uk-pakistan-

Hundreds of Pakistani Christians flock to Protest and Asia Bibi re-enactment outside UK Pakistan Embassy.

All freedom loving Islamosavvy UK citizens can surely join their campaign, by signing their petition, by writing letters, and by checking their website regularly so as to know when rallies/ protests are going to take place..so that those rallies can be made *bigger* and *louder*.

They did manage to get 54 British parliamentarians to join their campaign and start pestering the Pakistani government and Supreme Court. From a French site:

    http://www.christianophobie.fr/breves/asia-bibi-54-deputes-britanniques-petitionnent-aupres-des-autorites-pakistanaises

“54 députés de la Chambre des Communes du Royaume-Uni, appartenant à différents partis représentés, viennent d’écrire au Premier Ministre du Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif, et au président de sa Cour suprême, Nasir Ul-Mulk, pour dénoncer le déni de justice dont Asia Bibi a été la victime, les inviter à reconsidérer cette affaire et à la traiter toute urgence à la Cour suprême. ”

I’d love to know the names of those 54 honorable men, because some of them might be further educable on the subject of Islam, sharia and Jihad.

There were protest rallies in *France* – the one in Paris had *two thousand* people – and in Spain, on behalf of Asia Bibi.

Here are two links in French describing those rallies. Pope Francis may be silent, but ordinary Catholic laity in France and in Spain are beginning to step up and show solidarity with their persecuted sister, Asia, and others like her. In Paris, **refugee Christians from Iraq** came to the rally; and…ex-Muslims of Berber background, who are now Christians attached to the church of “Notre Dame de Kabylia”, “Our Lady of the Kabyle”. Isn’t that beautiful?

    http://www.christianophobie.fr/breves/madrid-belle-vigile-chretienne-de-priere-pour-asia-bibi

    http://www.christianophobie.fr/breves/paris-pres-de-2-000-manifestants-pour-asia-bibi

    http://www.christianophobie.fr/communique/chretiente-solidarite-remercie-les-participants-a-la-manifestation-dhier-a-paris

And since I’ve mentioned the British Pakistani Christians, this link to an article at their website will take you to the text of an interview with their leader, in which he makes a key point about the general Pakistani Muslim mindset, that is: that, based on the polls and surveys that are quite regularly done, it is “a very large portion of the Pakistani population” who *support* the blasphemy laws and the death penalty for blasphemy.

We appear to agree that Criminals and Muslims kill Christians. These groups are growing in power and the threat to Democracy and Freedom is looming ever larger. There comes a time when world leaders need to confront the truth rather than appease both groups.

Ignoring Crime and Despotic behavior will never save lives but it may gain some political points for those who are unprincipled politicians.

Suggest reading Magnificent Delusions by Husain Haqqani on this subject.
Pakistan was carved out of post colonial India as a homeland for the Muslims. Their leaders expected and demanded billions in military gear, training, and pay almost immediately from the USA. They have had this expectation of the Americans ever since. It has worked to the tune of $40 Billion and counting.

My sincere hope is that the new Republican majority in Congress, Senate and State governments will result in a return to the rule of law and become “fundamental” with the Constitution.
