Clearly, Muslims in Australia are working from the same playbook that Muslims in the U.S. are using: claims that anti-terror measures unfairly target Muslims and were the real problem, complaints about the freedom of speech, exaggerated claims of victimhood, etc. Who is coordinating all this? In any case, it is good to see that at least some people are beginning to see through it.
“Jihadists not the only problem,” by Andrew Bolt, Herald Sun, November 5, 2014:
THE ABC’s plan: confront Attorney-General George Brandis with an audience stacked with “moderate” Muslims and make him hop.
It took precautions. It did not select extremists to ask questions — no jihadists who’d illustrate the danger the Abbott Government is battling. Despite that, last Monday’s Q&A backfired spectacularly.
It simply confirmed concerns that too many Muslims have a group loyalty and inflamed sense of victimhood that made them the sea in which jihadists swim.
One reason it backfired was that Brandis was brilliant in defending the Government’s anti-terrorism strategy. But what really undid the exercise was the audience which grabbed the ABC’s microphone.
Bilal Raulf warned that the big anti-terrorism raids should stop … or else: “This gung-ho approach” against suspected jihadists would just “drive them in a particular direction”. Sheik Wesam Charkawi suggested we should instead give “young, angry Muslim men” what they wanted: “There are legitimate grievances that people have.”
Charkawi implied our anti-terror laws, rather than Islamic terrorism, were the problem: “Given that these new laws create the atmosphere of such a major divide in the hearts and minds of all concerned, isn’t it time the Government changed its approach?”
Sayed Hussainizada falsely claimed we now had “a new anti-terror law that is specifically targeting the Muslim community”.
Lydia Shelley, in a hijab, suggested the Government was just picking on Muslims as an excuse for stripping Australians of freedoms: “Don’t use the Muslim people, don’t use the issue of radicalisation, to really sell these laws, which is really about a sustained attack on civil liberties in this country.”…
May Fahmi even accused Brandis of hurting Muslims by defending free speech: “Do you think your comment that people have a right to be bigots has given mandate for some to verbally accost Australian Muslims …?”…
When protecting ourselves is denounced by even Muslim “moderates” as a hostile act, it’s clear that extremists are not our only problem.

Yes, do check. This is again, another example of why people saying that only a ‘tiny minority’ of Muslims will contribute to terrorism are wrong. There are other pathways to funding terrorism. Contributions to their mosques for a start and contributions to produce dawah materials which promote Islam and its life outlook which includes “jihad.”Other pathways like halal, in which our own money potentially goes to funding it, without us even knowing. Then there are the wealthy donors.

I watched the program and was disappointed that Brandis didn’t mention the recent attack by the Afghan jihadi on two police officers in Melbourne, resulting in his death. Instead we had to witness a very hostile audience whingeing about Muslims being discriminated against.
Some silly Muslim woman lawyer also tried to make a big deal out of the three chancers dressed in weird garb making a point by trying to gain entry to Parliament. One guy was wearing a KKK outfit, and the lawyer tried to make some obscure point about that.
Other than that Brandis made a brave face of it.

What the brat lawyer in the hijab failed to recognize is that the guy in the KKK outfit wore it BECAUSE it’s so outrageous. I think his point was “Hey! Anything goes!” It’s called parody. But it looks like humor, and virtually everything else good about life, is lost on her anyway.

Really, it is one of the most brilliant phrases, I have read recently, to highlight where the real danger and threat lie: the so called “moderates” who are fighting against some essential security measures, because of their perception of them as targeting unjustly the Muslim community!!
Ah, to be just, those security measures should also be targeting Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mennonites, the Dalai Lama and his followers in the west!
Quite frankly, all government authorities, in the west, should start using this phrase, to the letter, when faced with similar protests, in the same circumstances, by Muslim communities.
Jen says
Yes, I like that line because it highlights one problem that some westerners may not yet have understood about the Muslim community. They’re still thinking in terms of “tiny minority of extremists” and underestimating the challenges of this Muslim problem.
The Muslim community behaves like non-Muslims don’t have a right to protect themselves. Muslims are fiiiinnee as long as it’s *them* being aggressive. But should you decide to defend yourself against their aggression, and they’ll turn around and behave as though it is *you* that is the aggressor (along with “I’m the victim” mode blah blah). And then ultimately, use this as an ‘excuse’ to carry out more violent acts.
You absolutely cannot win with Muslims. Their “moderate” Muslim community shields them. Not all of them are violent at any one time, but that’s irrelevant to the wider problem. Their community adopts the mentality of protecting their ‘religion’ and its reputation because of believing that their ‘religion’ should be above criticism. It’s cultural too. They have their own ways of doing things and they want to protect it; no matter how vile the behaviour of their fellow Muslims. Respect is commanded by force with Muslims. Not something earned through good behaviour, which is what westerners think. The Muslim community must be laughing their socks off right now…
Muslim communities in non-Muslim areas have an advantage at the present time- they live among non-Muslims so they understand the non-Muslim way of thinking. Many of their own children, having grown up around non-Muslims understand the non-Muslim mentality even better.
Non-Muslims, however, given that Muslims generally spend most of their spare time with other Muslims (and hence excluding non-Muslims), means that non-Muslims don’t understand the mentality in the Muslim community very well. So until they do understand it, they’re going to keep getting played like an instrument.
FatherJon says
Jen’s post reminds me of a very apt aphorism I picked up from someone.

Here’s another one from the article “How to Get Rid of Hornets” (pests):
“While hornets are known for their ability to inflict a painful sting, they are very beneficial predators [Saddam Hussein] and help to control a variety of insects that could otherwise become pests [ISIS]. However, hornets are social insects [Muslims], so they will aggressively defend their colony (nest) [the Ummah] from any intruders [Non-Muslims]. While not as aggressive as yellow jackets, the baldfaced hornet [Anjem Choudary], and to a lesser degree, the European hornet [other moderates], quickly and assertively defend their nest when sensing danger.”

Jen says
Actually Anjem probably isn’t a good one for that comparison. He’s just blatantly and disgustingly honest about his outlook.

The yellow jackets are the jihadists, the bald-faced hornets are the ones actively defending Islam in the open, and the ‘moderates’ are secretly not that upset that non-Muslims are being killed.

Ibn Wirriq says
There are at least 24 items for consideration for the needed reformation and renaissance within iIslam
An honest comparison be made between the mainly peaceful Meccan verses, with the violent and lethal directives in the abrogating Medina verses of the Koran and other holy books, and how the contradictory nature of their meanings and intentions can be resolved in the 21st Century for peace in the World.
The nature, intensity, duration, content and compulsion involved with Islamic indoctrination of all its youth and converts. both male and female, and the mind-set and logic it produces.
Understanding of and the elimination of, the innate nature of Jew-hatred which pervades the Koran and other Islamic holy books, and the historic motivation behind it, up to the establishment of the State of Israel, by the United Nations in 1948.
Elimination of all the general Koranic directives to Muslims to dislike, mistrust, discriminate against, make to submit, be violent towards or kill all non-Muslims at every opportunity.[as outlined in Koranic verses]
An honest assessment of the life and actions of Muhamed himself, both positive and negative and the validity of his status in Islam today.
An honest assessment of the so-called “miraculous” deeds in the Koran in the light of modern scientific knowledge.
The personification of Allah and claims of actual spoken directives by Allah to “angels” and to particular to members of Arabian society.
The contradictory nature and arrangement of verses in the Koran, and the relevance of the historic Sunni-Shi’a divide, for war and peace within Islam and an understanding of the true meaning of “The Peace of Islam” in the World.
The validity of terms such as taqiyya, abrogation of Koranic verses and its consequences, and lethal quotes from Egyptian authoritative muftis on apostacy and its needed application for Islam’s perpetuation and its concept of World supremacy.
Salifism and Wahhabiism- their origins, doctrines and promotion today from Saudi Arabia and how their influence can be negated to allow Islam to reform for today’s ever-changing World.
The methodology of Halal food certification fees around the World and where the money paid “ends up”., and why Western companies must pay rather than be paid to promote the halal insignia for the benefit of all Muslims.
FGM, honour killings, and the status of women in Islam and their human rights as per the United Nations’ charter of Human Rights.
Recognizing that the wearing , particularly now in Western nations, of a burka, niqab or hijab, was once a historic cultural necessity and safeguard for women in certain violent societies and not ever based on direct Koranic directives. But today, in Western societies, is one or another being worn, possibly as a means of disrespect towards any Western nation’s culture or to present an Islamic identity or be seen as such, or as an expectation from most Muslim men for Islamic women?
The doctrine, even today, of dhimminitude and the status of non- Muslims in Islamically dominated societies, in regard to general tolerance; legal rights and the status of non-Islamic women. The use of slavery in many forms in some Islamic societies.
The validity of martyrdom and the alleged 72 virgins reward in “paradise”.
Sharia law, its totalitarian nature and its effects in practice.
The ignoring of the statement : There is no compulsion in religion. ………Real or hypocritical?
An understanding that the prophet Mohamed’s directives, in his lifetime, were applicable for military and political and other consideration of his time, and on that basis, that there is a real need for Muslims now to realize that their application was for that time ONLY and not for general use now in the modern World.
Resolution of the historic division of Sunni/Shi’a versions of Islam and other lesser Islamic groupings. by peaceful compromises.
The validity and necessity of the claim for the Koran, as a holy book, of having been derived from the direct word of Allah, that it is and must remain, constant and above comment, criticism or change. Getting that into a realistic and honest perspective and an understanding that many verses may have had alternative sources or have had alterations in transcription and translation or interpretation.
An understanding that the monotheistic beliefs [ ie.Jewish,Christian and Islamic in particular] are just that, beliefs; and an awareness of different religious beliefs in pre-Mohamedan times in Arabia and elsewhere.
Tolerance of other beliefs or belief systems is a human right all Humanity is entitled to and that “there is no compulsion in religion.”
Each one of the World’s different religious beliefs can’t be the only one that is “right” and it is just possible that most, if not all, just may be “wrong”.
Understanding that, whatever a person “believes”, is mostly a direct result of one’s indoctrination, and that depends on what “type” of religious or non- religious family, State or Nation one is born into. Remember, no one gets to choose one’s parents or the nature of their indoctrination or their nationality.
RonaldB says
“There are at least 24 items for consideration for the needed reformation and renaissance within iIslam”
Let me compliment you on yeoman’s work in giving a partial list of what is specifically wrong in Islam.
It’s interesting as an intellectual exercise for non-Muslims. But non-Muslims should not take it actively on themselves to reform Islam. Reforming Islam means that you encourage some Muslims, as “moderates” or “reformers”. This has worked out badly. What happens is, active Muslims masquerading as reformers gain access to the doors of power, and use them to discourage real criticism of Islam, to discourage security measures, and to promote the spread of “acceptable” Islam.
The West should focus on limiting and shrinking Muslim influence and presence. The Muslims should focus on reform, those who are so inclined and who survive the inevitable assassination attempts. When, if ever, Islam becomes acceptable to civilized norms, they can rejoin society.
It is the height of folly to try to reform Islam from the outside. Our job is to expose it, and take active measures to protect ourselves from its presence.
Jay Boo says
@Ibn Wirriq
That is quite an impressive list but the reformation and renaissance within Islam is for all practical purposes a myth.
To fix Islam would require such drastic over hall that it would no longer be Islam.
I am not suggesting that Muslims are inherently flawed but merely that their ideology is.
You said,
“An understanding that the prophet Mohamed’s directives, in his lifetime, were applicable for military and political and other consideration of his time, and on that basis, that there is a real need for Muslims now to realize that their application was for that time ONLY and not for general use now in the modern World. ”
Your comment about Mohamed’s directives sounded quite reasonable but it was much too generous and overlooked the full implication of Muhammad’s directives.
It seems to imply that Islam’s political and military aspects were a rational aspect of this religion and not part of its core foundation.
Remember that Islam’s military conquest were not mainly for defense.
Islam was a slave trade religion from early on.
Alarmed Pig Farmer says
The Moslems have played the victimism game full-time since the beginning, when the Holy Prophet and his companions angrily marched from one get-even engagement to the next, skewering bellies and chopping heads at every step, from the night the first Islamic Contract was issued on Abu Afak.
This is why our ruling socialist elites demonstrate such a close (and disastrous) affinity with Moslems; they too are impelled by victimhood, in their case getting other people’s money, the only difference is that the followers of the Prophet also want total control of your life along with your money, given by the Holier Than Thou state. They can never be satisfied and always need to expand for the conflict itself, along with the young sex-slaves and military heroism it brings.

Yes, Muslims have played the victim game full-time since the beginning,
Muhammad the liar played the victim when he claimed he was tricked by Satan when caught associating partners with Allah.
Muslims still try to sanitize and whitewash those satanic verses that Muhammad spoke.
But, it is written in their own Koran.
UnEasyOne says
Actually, no. The Satanic verses are not in the koran. They were replaced almost immediately, when Mo decided they came from Satan. In debates and so forth, muslim apologists claim they never existed. there is abundant proof to the contrary, however, in the surah or hadiths or some such. It wasn’t even contested until fairly recently.
I am not a scholar, but I picked that up from David Wood and Mr Spencer from some of their debates with muslims.

Oh, we mustn’t challenge Muslims to explain their loyalty? Oh, is that ‘hurting their feelings?’ Well, are they loyal or not? Do they secretly give support and money to jihadists? Is that their duty to do so?
If we may not speak to Muslims (Sharia law says offending a Muslim is punishable)…then we can look them in the eye.
When you meet a Muslim, look them in the eye. Most of them can’t take it. They can’t stand it when we truly understand what’s in their mind.

Many Muslims support sharia law.
Sharia law is:
honor killings,
death sentences for adultery and prostitution and homosexuality,
female genital mutilation,
underage arranged marriages,
and the beating of wives by Muslim men
In other words if we prevent sharia law
Muslims won’t be able to fully practice their religion
Jay Boo says
Note:
Without observing sharia law this would make Muslims apostates
To be good Muslims they would then have to behead themselves.

I did not watch the program, but I know one thing: There was not one single “moderate” Muslim in this debate. They were all extremists. Why? because there is no such thing as a “moderate” Muslim.
There are two categories of Muslims: True Muslims and Nominal Muslims.
True Muslims are the true followers of Muhammad (i.e. extremists, jihadists, supremacists, perverts, criminals, and so on.)
Nominal Muslims are those who are still Muslims out of ignorance and/or fear. They know next to nothing about Islam and/or they don’t care about religion. They fear their fellow Muslims. They fear their own families, even in the “free” West.
Slowly but surely these nominal Muslims are turning away from Islam. No one knows about it because no one talks about it in the compromised MSM industry.

My own feeling is that every time the Mohammedan mob whether inside or outside the lands of the Infidels does – or is even caught plotting to do – something particularly atrocious, the Infidel Authorities should be *less* appeasing, not more.
E.g., by *ending* government grants to this or that supposedly “moderate” Muslim “community organisation”/ front group.
Or by cutting back on “aid” to the Poor “Palestinians” [TM].
Or by denying the Muslim “spokespeople” access to Infidel politicians; no more invitations to dinners and public Events.
Etc,
And if they demand, for example, that we stop supporting Israel, we should *up the ante* and INCREASE our support. They must *not* be allowed to dictate our foreign policies.
Let them discover that the worse they behave, the *less* influence they are able to exert.

The only way we’ll ever learn to deal with Islam is by developing a playbook to use against them. Non-Muslims around the world must organize on this issue. We need a United Nations of Non-Islamic countries to develop strategies, and support each other.
At this stage, they have the OIC whereas all we do is bicker among ourselves and blame Israel and other frontline countries for how they deal with Islam.

The Muslims in America have the system all shored up in their favour. The Council for American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) only have to stir the pot whenever they see or hear of anything that ruffles their feathers. Ayaan Hirsi Ali had her invitation to Brandeis University withdrawn recently because of her opposition to FGM, juvenile marriage and sexual abuse within Islam. That was due to overwhelming opposition from CAIR. It was all the more regrettable because Brandeis is a ‘Jewish’ university heavily dependent on funding from rich American Jews. Why they’d bend over to accommodate a radical organisation with Hamas connections is anyone’s guess. There are other examples of CAIR influences at State and Federal level across America.

The sheiks and the Attorney-General seemed to be playing a kind of game. The A-G was pretending that they were on his side and they were pretending as well. But who was more clever? The A-G was clever if he tricked them into revealing their real message. Their pretence about how they were trying to help young men not get radicalised was shown to be false by their public statements insinuating that the radicalisation is Australia’s fault and that our resistance to jihad causes radicalisation. They don’t even need to say this directly to “their” boys because they are telling all Australia, with very serious faces.
The A-G pretended that some unknown, shadowy, sinister individuals are somehow countering the good effect these sheiks are having on their Muslim flocks, but it is obvious – to me, anyway – that those shadowy sinister people are the sheiks themselves.
I presume the A-G knows that himself, despite his rather gruelling display of cringeing before those nasty chaps.

AllForpeace&Honour says
These so called moderate Muslims that were on the ABC’s Q&A should look and take into account what their faith is causing around every corner of the world. And they should take into account the final analysis and figures of death, destruction and catastrophes of Islamic Jihad since 1948 and Osama’s al-Qaeda Jihad since 2001 the facts and figures are:
1. 54 million people either displaced or immediately affected by conflicts, 99% of which are within Islamic states.
2. Of the 57 Islamic states across the globe… 30 are in some form of conflict.
3. Around 16 million refugees across the globe are in serious trouble, 99% of which are Muslim.
4. Since 2001 around 1.7 million Muslims have been killed in these bloody conflicts.
5. If you include American, British, Australian and other allied military casualties from Iraq and Afghanistan then add the 3,000 from 9/11, then add those who have died from terrorist bombings in the past 13 years, and if you include Christians killed in Africa and the Middle East, it may reach 17,000 people.
6. Now if you do the maths correctly that is a ratio of 100 Muslims killed for every one Westerner.
7. If the great Jihadist Osama was still alive and you put it to him that his great Jihad had only resulted in the deaths of around 17,000 Westerners but cost the lives of 1.7 million Muslims, what do you reckon this criminal and sadistic murdering bastard would say?…Probably “Allahu Akbar” that’s a good deal and a good ratio!
8. Since 1948, 11,000,000 members of the religion of peace and Islam have died in violent conflict! Don’t think that your eyes are deceiving you? Yes, 11 million people and that is babies, children, women, men and the elderly have been killed and god knows how many have been maimed and injured in that period to add to these horrific figures.
9. When you consider that WW2 in its entirety and may I remind you that WW2 was a conflict that was at least 100 times more horrific and more confrontational between armies and the most modern weapons of that day and different ideologies. Than a single religious conflict like the Islamic jihad is and will be the most horrific in history. In WW2 there was between 56 to 60 million people who were injured, maimed and killed, now if the religion of peace and Islam want to continue this barbaric and criminal acts then they are heading in the right direction to become the most destructive and abhorrent single cause of death that mankind has ever known.

At the moment there are strong elements of a Sunni/Shia divide emerging in these posts. Don’t let it happen. Brandis was good and really conveyed the Australian government message. No amount of whinge ing or victimhood can excuse the actions of the Whole Muslim Community. Look at their own community and start cleaning it up if you wish to enjoy the benefits of Western life.
