Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

UK jihadi: “O by the way Islamic State does have a Dirty bomb”

Nov 30, 2014 8:46 am By Robert Spencer

IslamicStateISISThis may be true, but it may simply be an attempt to “strike terror into the hearts of the enemies of Allah,” as the Qur’an directs Muslims to do (8:60).

“Islamic State has a dirty bomb says British jihadi amid claims 40kg of uranium was taken from Iraqi university,” by Jennifer Smith, Daily Mail, November 30, 2014:

Islamic State fanatics claim to have constructed a dirty bomb after stealing 40kg of uranium from an Iraqi university.

Militants boasted of the device on social media, with one even commenting on the destruction such a bomb would wreak in London, four months after the chemical was reported missing from Mosul University.

Among extremists making online threats to the West is British explosives expert Hamayun Tariq, who fled his home in Dudley, West Midlands, for the Middle East in 2012.

Using the Muslim name, Muslim-al-Britani, he posted on Twitter: ‘O by the way Islamic State does have a Dirty bomb. We found some Radio active material from Mosul university,’ the Mirror reports.

He continued: ‘We’ll find out what dirty bombs are and what they do. We’ll also discuss what might happen if one actually went off in a public area.

‘This sort of a bomb would be terribly destructive if went off In LONDON becuz (sic) it would be more of a disruptive than a destructive weapon,’ before having his Twitter account suspended.

Other jihadis echoed the claims a destructive ‘dirty bomb’ had been made, with one writing: ‘

‘IS has confirmed that we have acquired a dirty bomb from radioactive material from Mosul Uni! Mashallah #IS’.

In July nearly 40kg of uranium stored for scientific research went missing from Mosul University in northern Iraq.

In a letter to the United Nations, Iraq’s U.N. Ambassador Mohamed Ali Alhakim told Ban Ki-moon ‘Terrorist groups have seized control of nuclear material at the sites that came out of the control of the state,’ adding such materials ‘can be used in manufacturing weapons of mass destruction.’

‘These nuclear materials, despite the limited amounts mentioned, can enable terrorist groups, with the availability of the required expertise, to use it separate or in combination with other materials in its terrorist acts.’

Yesterday, as news the uranium had been used to construct a bomb, one jihadi taunted Iraq’s reported plans to retake control of Mosul.

‘Plan to retake Mosul from ISIS emerges, haha! Little do they know the resources of #IS! Good luck!’ they wrote.

Earlier this year, Tariq claimed to have had his passport cancelled by the Home Office after travelling to the Middle East.

The former car mechanic fled to Pakistan almost immediately after being released from prison in 2012.

After pledging his allegiance to the Taliban, he claimed to have been recruited by IS fighters who paid for him to travel to Syria to join them….

I can assure you about ten years ago several ships were neutralized on the high seas that supposedly had nucleus weapons. I can also state that in 2005 and 2006 Sarin Gas, Yellow cake and high pressure liquid nitrogen cylinders containing materials marked “Bio-Weapons” in Arabic and English were moved in Iraq that were left over from Sadam. Even Hilary, goin on 2 years ago, stated that Syria got their WMDs from Iraq. It took her about 6 hours to back off that statement.
    .
So, General Lepod of the Soviet and then Russian Confederation stated around 2002 or so that they lost track of 4 man pack nukes, which the US gov says does not exist, but I assure you did at least back in the late 1970s. A couple years latter he stated he was missin 144. He got wacked 2 weeks latter.
    .
The Ukrainian gov said the previous gov sold Iran 44 or so ICBM warheads after the collapse of the USSR.
    .
So with the Muslims with access to BILLIONS by Islamic sponsored Terrorist states, you don’t think they picked up a couple? Why would Israel announce about 4 years ago that they had 3 state of the art German nuclear weapons capable subs on patrol at ALL times if they didn’t think they were fixin to git nuked?
    ,
Gittin some nuke waste would be simple with their financial assets.
    .
We sure do live in interestin times!

I don’t know about interesting but it is all build to a crescendo just like in the 30s because Obama will not commit American ground troops the only solid answer. PM Cameron will not commit ground troops. President Hollande will not commit ground troops and Chancellor Merkle will not commit ground troops. The la la land idea that we will train militia forces by Spring to be a serious threat to IS is just that Fantasy World. Also, we learned in VN you can’t win a war from the air alone. If everyone is looking to the other to get his hands dirty than all of you do it. IS will not stand up to Western strategy & tactics plus training of these men and women. They believe they can fight anyone because Allah is with them. Allah may just turn away.

Two Thumbs up for Australia and New Zealand for having the courage to be stand up countries and prepare for battle not knowing whether or not they have support. I must admit in this particular case I am ashamed not of the US fighting man, they are excellent and brave, but the professional golfer and jet setter in the WH and State Dept. They hear a firecracker they run. Some one else stands and fights like Israel they order them to use restraint but say nothing to the terrorists they finance. This is another subject.
Australia and New Zealand you deserve all of our thanks and we wish you the best.

My understanding is that here are two types of dirty bombs made from nuclear material –
1} Nuclear – in which there is a ‘chain reaction’ – like Hiroshima – they are very complex and requires real technical expertise and equipment to build.
2} Radiological – there is no ‘chain reaction’ – conventional explosives are used to widely disseminate the radioactive material which is tremendously toxic. My understanding is that they are very simple to make.
The entire area around where either type of explosion occurs would be contaminated by nuclear materials – and there would have to be decontamination of the radiological materials – how technically complex or how thoroughly I do not know.
    .
Who would even consider doing such great evil – “the word of God” says:
“And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”
    (Gen 6:5 [KJV])
    .
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”
    (Jer 17:9 [KJV])
    .
“The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.”
    (Ps 12:8 [KJV])
    .
Me thinks that the whole world is becoming exponentially more rapidly ‘as it was in the days of Noah (Noe) and of Lot’ – righteous Judgment by “the LORD JEHOVAH” will come:
“And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.”
    (Luke 17:26-29 [KJV])
    .

        • Don McKellar says

          Nov 30, 2014 at 11:50 am

Thomas Aquinas? Oh, you mean that guy who came up with 5 reasons that god must exist? The first “reason” committing the logical fallacy called “begging the question”, the next 3 completely refuted by modern science, and the 5th, the silliest of them all, claiming intelligent design using the logical fallacy “argument from incredulity” — and many others? You mean that Thomas Aquinas? King of Logical Fallacies?

As for James Clerk Maxwell, so what if he deluded himself into believing in religion. Many other highly intelligent are also religious — that doesn’t make religion correct or real. They are religious because it is a state deeply implanted in our brains, certainly originating as a survival mechanism that would logically be required by animals intelligent to think and plan into the future — which sometimes seems hopeless and pointless. If you are deluded, you carry on and perhaps survive and reproduce — and therefore carry on the religion delusion genes.

There is no connection between intelligence and religion, for or against, because religious belief is an instinct survival mechanism.

My post is not for you, anonymous, but for others who might be curious about this fact.

The argument from first cause is begging the question? What, you’re going to tell me the ontological category of the ‘first cause’ itself requires a cause? Are you really that dimwitted? Or are you parroting Dawkins now? A man whose understanding of philosophy is so lacking he doesn’t even have a grasp on the necessary Aristotelian terminology to address Aquinas’s arguments? ‘Modern science’? Metaphysical arguments have nothing to do with empirical science my dear boy.

Ironically, militant atheists have much in common with apologists for Islam in that they both become heated and obnoxious when dismissing the faith of others, especially Christians.

I believe that militant atheists (as opposed to those who do not see it necessary to insult those who believe in God, though not believing in Him themselves) are partly responsible for the appalling take-over of Islam in our formerly free nations. I say, ‘ironically’ because once Islam has taken over they will be first in the firing line. The freedoms they’ve enjoyed will no longer exist.

Our atheist posters might like to consider the view of Albert Einstein who, having dismissed the views of ‘barking dogs’ said: “Then there are the fanatical atheists whose intolerance is of the same kind as the intolerance of the religious fanatics and comes from the same source. They are like slaves who are still feeling the weight of their chains which they have thrown off after hard struggle. They are creatures who—in their grudge against the traditional “opium of the people”—cannot bear the music of the spheres. The Wonder of nature does not become smaller because one cannot measure it by the standards of human moral and human aims.”
Einstein to an unidentified adressee, Aug.7, 1941.

A little courtesy and a smidgen of humility would be appreciated for those who do enjoy the music of the spheres.

That is the sad reality of our times.

    :: ::

Think about it London is x % Muslim – it would do a lot of harm – to their own interests.

    ::

In Muslims haste to villainize Jews – they overlook the lesson of WWII. To dehumanize others – is to be seen as less human yourself. The belief that all who do not come under Islam – are less than human – is a grave error in the ideology itself. Where it is acted upon – such that cities are targeted for annihilation – it shall be dealt with.

    ::

Any such bomb set off – in populated areas – these Muslims deem ‘infidel’ – would be an act of aggression – they would most certainly regret.

They would need to resurrect a new Caliphate out of those ashes – as the one they have – will have gone.

It is difficult to comprehend the thinking process because you are sane, but one has to put themselves in the shoes of a mad dog jihadi, steeped in Islam. Dead fellow moslems are just collateral damage in the big picture to them. They’d justify it by deeming them martyrs — or claiming they are infidels by having not joined the Islamic State by now and living in the land of the kuffar. Perhaps both at the same time.

That’s really the “thinking” process here. Seriously.

Islamic State fanatics claim to have constructed a dirty bomb after stealing 40kg of uranium from an Iraqi university.

I know this is over the haids of the news entertainer crew, but this claim raises two urgent questions:

    1) Why was anybody in Iraq allowed to possess a large cache of uranium?

    2) If the U.S. generals and Hillary did not allow Sunni scientists to possess uranium, that it’s a lie, what is our intelligence on whether a nuclear weapons grade raw material cache exists, and where is it?

Intelligence is hard to come by in Moslem Land, in dar al-Hellhole, and you can bet any info that does reach the generals will be held with great skepticism.

Thousands of transoceanic freighters are on the used freight boat market, and when filled up with diesel move freely about the oceans. So transport wouldn’t be a problem.

We have a huge coast line, and once landed a dirty bomb could easily be hidden in the back of a late model SUV with tinted windows, the kind you see everywhere. The landing would probably be done somewhere between northern Georgia on up to North Carolina. From there it’s straight on up I-95 to do the dirty deed either in NYC or DC.

I vote for DC, they’re the ones funding Hamas and taking it up the yin-yang from the Persians. Maybe a debacle of historic proportions would awaken them from their fantastic slumber, if only for a while.

40 kg of Uranium can be easily detected and is not a small quantity by any stretch of the imagination. these days they have technology to detect even the sublime quantities of radio-active materials used in x-rays machines in places like hospitals and research centres.

that being said, it is surprising the the US with the technology they possess were unable to detect a whopping 40 Kgs! considering that the whole objective of invading Iraq was WMD and Alqaeda in addition to dethroning the evil dictator named Saddam. either that or the IS claims seem absurd and they are indulging in fear mongering to raise media attention and attract even more Jihadis to their cause as they need positive re-enforcement through their victories and achievements to show the sheep who want to join them that Allah is on their side….. i support the latter theory… IS are lying their asses off!

Only plausible way to get uranium is through: a) former soviet states (but a good deal of them are with Nato now and Russia is against Islamic terrorism) – so unlikely b) Iran (but since they are opposed to IS, doubt they would help them; and c) Pakistan – the only Sunni Islamic nation with an Islamic bomb and rogue nuclear scientists willing to help the cause of IS and that regularly threatened use of nuclear bomb during its conflict with Non-Islamic India.

China’s and West support of Pakistan will come full circle in a very tragic way…. but power and arrogance will always lead to a road of peril and West and China are gambling with the future of the planet by allowing Pakistan to possess nuclear weapons and allowing enough fanatical muslims to walk freely in their lands…..

Karma will come back to haunt… in this case the innocent as usual will always pay the price while the ex-presidents / treasury secretaries / defense secretaries get plush jobs in Oil/ Banking/ Defense private companies after they retire from their offices and ruin lives of soldiers, citizens in their own countries and in sovereign nations in failed wars and interventions.

The great tragedy about the discovery of nuclear power is that sooner or later some nutjob is going to use it to cause mass destruction. It is bound to happen. It may well be a Muslim group that does so – how long can it be before such weapons are acquired and then used? – but it needn’t be. Human nature is what it is and if such weapons are available there is going to be someone at some point who is going to seize them and use them.

    To Don McKellar:

Thomas Aquinas’ five ways are metaphysicai, not physical proofs so that they are outside the purview of modern science. Modern science can say nothing about such concepts as justice, freedom, truth etc, as they are not empirical, that is measurable. The scientifica method has nothing to say about them nor does it have anything to say about metaphysics, as these are outside its purview. The argment is like saying what Yuri Gagarin, tbe first Soviet to go up to spalce, when he stated that he had a look around space and did’nt find any god there. So, you haven’t a clue about what Thomas Aquinas is up to. As for the first, it is not a petitio principii. He begins from an evident fact, that is that things move and change. This is not petitio principii, as his first premise is an evident fact, and it is not what he attempts to prove, which is what you try to state. No serious philosopher has ever accused him of this logical fallacy. Besdies, the scientific method depends on the value of causality, so that if you reject Aquinas’ arguments you should also reject the scientifica method and its conclusions.

As for your rejection of religion, there are religions and religions. Because Islam is an aberration and based on fideistic belief in an arbitrary god. In fact, your atheistic principles are much closer to Islam than you might think. If you believe that the universe has been brought about by chance, then you are buying into even more aburd principles than muslims and their arbitrary and fideistic god. Your criticism has nothing to do with Christianity, as you appear not to understand it but include it in the same bag as Islam.

Consider the number of visas gives to “students: from jihadis leaning countries to study physics, chemistry, and microbiology at universities and institutes in America. They don’t need to bother with smuggling in a tiny bit of Uranium, there are TONS of very radioactive isotopes already in the USA. just waiting for a few suicidal bomber types with a few pounds of C-4(or other explosives-even homemade ones) to attack poorly guarded commercial facilities, and boom there goes another “Hot Zone” for FEMA to clean up. It could also provide a jobs program for the many not-quite-legal new immigrants.

Of course they have nuclear materials, possibly even complete bombs. Of course they will imminently use them, because they are a theology driven cult and “love death more than infidels love life”. They have already demonstrated that they don’t mind killing other Muslims in the process by rationalizing it as martyrdom and religious duty.

So if they explode a dirty bomb in London or wherever it will be seen as a great victory and inspire more dancing in their streets. It may also result in a major retribution – but they don’t care. So expect it.

This is the difference between Islam and the semi-rational “Mutually Assured Destruction” that worked in the Cold War. They are non-rational as well as totalitarian, much more interested in their religious prophesies than mutual survival.

They possess a single-minded devotion to the ignoble teachings of Mohammed, the highest ranking of which being the extermination of all Jews and all infidels. Unfortunately the random distribution of high quality oil deposits has provided them with enormous amounts of cash with which to actualize these medieval aspirations.

Imagine the results if they had civilized and progressive goals instead – the world could be transformed rather than deeply threatened. Islam needs to take a large dose of LSD and get over itself.

We must reasonably assume Muslims have several dirty bombs or will procure them in the near future. We must also reasonably assume they want to use them to inflict maximum carnage, terror and disarray, for their fanatically unhinged motivations which are not limited by rational concerns, unlike all other potential enemies and criminals.

One other thing we must reasonably assume: Muslims will not be able to deploy such attacks inside the West without having a broad and deep demographic support structure — providing a variety of assistance on many levels — from among other Muslims already living in the West, including Muslims upon whom we have disastrously conferred citizenship.
