Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Germany: Thousands take to the streets to protest “Islamization”

Dec 14, 2014 7:15 am By Robert Spencer

Pegida“Despite efforts by German politicians and the media to portray PEGIDA as neo-Nazi, the group has taken great pains to distance itself from Germany’s extreme right. The group says that it is ‘apolitical’ and that its main objective is to preserve what is left of Germany’s Judeo-Christian culture and values.” In response, Angela Merkel has denounced the protesters for “racism.” And so it must be said yet again: Islam is not a race. Sharia is not a race. Protesting against Sharia actions to curtail free speech and women’s rights, and the rise of Islamic antisemitism, is not racist. But apparently Westerners will go into slavery and death rather than resist an authoritarian, supremacist and oppressive agenda that the intelligentsia has decided it is “racist” to resist.

“Germans Rise Up Against Islamization,” by Soeren Kern, Gatestone Institute, December 13, 2014 (thanks to Blazing Cat Fur):

Thousands of German citizens have been taking to the streets to protest the growing “Islamization” of their country.

The protests are part of a burgeoning grassroots movement made up of ordinary citizens who are calling for an end to runaway immigration and the spread of Islamic Sharia law in Germany.

The guardians of German multiculturalism are fighting back: they are seeking to delegitimize the protesters by branding them as “neo-Nazis” and by claiming that the Islamization of Germany is a myth contrived by misinformed citizens.

But there is a mounting public backlash over what many perceive as the government’s indifference to the growing influence of Islam in German society. This backlash represents a potentially significant turning point—one that implies that the days of unrestrained German multiculturalism may be coming to an end.

The latest protest took place in the eastern German city of Dresden on December 8, when more than 10,000 people defied freezing temperatures to express their displeasure with Germany’s lenient asylum policies.

Germany—which is facing an unprecedented influx of asylum seekers, including many from Muslim countries—is now the second most popular destination in the world for migrants, after the United States.

The Dresden protest was organized by a new citizens initiative, “Patriotic Europeans against the Islamization of the West,” better known by its German abbreviation, PEGIDA, short for “Patriotische Europäer gegen die Islamisierung des Abendlandes.”

PEGIDA, which has been organizing so-called “evening walks” (Abendspaziergang) through downtown Dresden every Monday evening since October, has seen the number of protesters increase exponentially from week to week.

Similar anti-Islamization protests have been held in the western German cities of Hannover, Kassel and Düsseldorf, where 400 people showed up on December 8 for demonstration organized by a PEGIDA offshoot, named DÜGIDA.

These protests are similar to, but separate from, other mass demonstrations organized in Cologne and other German cities by a group called Hooligans against Salafists, or HoGeSa.

PEGIDA was launched by Lutz Bachmann, a 41-year-old Dresden native with no background in politics, after government officials in the eastern German state of Saxony announced that they would be opening more than a dozen new shelters to house some 2,000 refugees.

Bachmann says that he is not opposed to legitimate asylum seekers, but that he is against so-called economic refugees who are taking advantage of Germany’s generous asylum laws in order to benefit from the country’s cradle-to-grave social welfare system. According to Bachmann, most of the asylum seekers in Saxony are males who have left their families behind in war-torn Muslim countries.

Despite efforts by German politicians and the media to portray PEGIDA as neo-Nazi, the group has taken great pains to distance itself from Germany’s extreme right. PEGIDA’s motto is “We are the people!” (Wir sind das Volk!), the same slogan used by East Germans to bring down the Berlin Wall in 1989. The group says that it is “apolitical” and that its main objective is to preserve what is left of Germany’s Judeo-Christian culture and values.

Ahead of the march on December 8, PEGIDA posted the following call to action:

“Dear friends, dear fellow citizens, dear patriots! Monday is PEGIDA Day and today too we want to show that we are peaceful. Bring your friends and neighbors and let us show the counter-demonstrators that we are not xenophobic.”

Placards displayed by protesters in Dresden included slogans such as “Against Religious Fanaticism,” “United against a Holy War on German Soil,” “Homeland Security Rather than Islamization,” and “For the Future of our Children.” There was no visible sign of neo-Nazi propaganda at the event.

On December 10, PEGIDA published a “Position Paper” outlining what the group is “for” and “against” in 19 bullet points. These include:

  • “1. PEGIDA is FOR the acceptance of asylum seekers from war zones, or those who are subject to political and religious persecution. This is a human duty!”
  • “2. PEGIDA is FOR amending the Basic Law of the Federal Republic of Germany to include a list of the right and the responsibility for immigrants to integrate.”
  • “9. PEGIDA is FOR a zero-tolerance policy vis-à-vis asylum seekers and migrants who commit crimes in Germany.”
  • “13. PEGIDA is FOR maintaining and protecting our Judeo-Christian Western culture.”
  • “16. PEGIDA is AGAINST the establishment of parallel societies/parallel legal systems in our midst, such as Sharia Law, Sharia Police, and Sharia Courts, etc.”
  • “18. PEGIDA is AGAINST religious radicalism, regardless of whether it is religiously or politically motivated.”
  • “19. PEGIDA is AGAINST hate preachers, regardless of religious affiliation.”

In a classic case of shooting the messenger rather than heeding the message, German politicians have dismissed PEGIDA protesters as ignorant and racist.

German Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière characterized PEGIDA as “shameless,” adding: “We have no danger of Islamization, certainly not in Saxony or Dresden with 2.2% immigrant population.”

In an interview with the German newsmagazine Der Spiegel, Justice Minister Heiko Maas said:

“There are limits to the political battle of ideas. All political parties should clearly distance themselves from these protests. We cannot be silent if a xenophobic atmosphere is being built on the backs of people who have lost everything and come to us for help: We have to be clear that the demonstrators are not the majority.”

A politician with the ruling Christian Democratic Union [CDU], Wolfgang Bosbach, warned that the protests represented the “anchoring of radical views in the heart of society.”

But Bachmann says the protests will continue until there are changes to Germany’s asylum policies. “We do not want to launch a political party or start a revolution,” he said. “But we need to talk openly about the asylum issue.”

Meanwhile, the Christian Social Union [CSU], the Bavarian partner of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s CDU, has watered down a demand that migrants settling in Germany on a permanent basis should speak German at home.

The “politically incorrect” proposal appeared in a draft policy paper on December 7. Following an outcry, the proposal was quickly amended to read that migrants who want to live in Germany permanently should be “motivated,” rather than “obliged,” to speak German “in daily life,” rather than “in public and within the family.”

In October, it emerged that so many asylum seekers were converging on Bavaria that they needed to be housed in tents normally used for the annual Oktoberfest.

In September, the governor of Bavaria and leader of the CSU party, Horst Seehofer, called for the return of border controls with Austria to stem the tide of refugees seeking asylum in Germany.

The Schengen Agreement, which entered into effect in 1995, abolished internal borders within the European Union, enabling passport-free movement between most countries within the bloc.

Although international law holds that migrants are supposed to claim asylum in the first country they reach, many are taking advantage of Europe’s open borders to claim asylum in Germany after first passing through Italy and Austria.

Seehofer also lashed out at Italian authorities, who he said are not doing enough to stop the flow of migrants entering the EU through Italy, after crossing the Mediterranean Sea from Africa. In an interview, he said:

“Italy is in clear violation of the Schengen accords. If this does not stop, Germany has seriously to consider stopping this violation via border controls. We must set quotas for refugees in Europe. And we have to deal with the fact that refugees need to be shared out among EU members fairly.”

Bavarian officials estimate that at least 33,000 asylum seekers have arrived in the state during 2014, twice the number of arrivals registered in 2013.

In an effort to stem the flow of asylum seekers, the CSU has demanded that the central government begin cracking down on so-called welfare tourism. The CSU is concerned that the problem of runaway immigration is prompting traditional supporters of the party to defect to the Alternative for Germany (AfD), an upstart political party formed in 2013.

The AfD—which wants Germany to leave the euro single currency and promotes a tough line on immigration—received 4.7% of the vote in the September 2013 federal election, narrowly failing to reach the 5% threshold needed for representation in Germany’s national parliament.

Since then, support for the AfD has surged. The party has extended its gains in regional elections, and also won nine seats in European Parliament elections in May 2014. A poll published in September 2014 found that one in ten German voters now support the AfD.

Germany’s political establishment has worked hard to discredit the AfD. But if the party continues to siphon voters away from the mainstream parties, the AfD will be in a position to influence the debate over the future of German multiculturalism.

The AfD has already come out in support of the PEGIDA protests in Dresden. AfD spokesman Konrad Adam said the party has a “fundamental sympathy for the PEGIDA movement.”

AfD leader Bernd Lucke, a professor of macroeconomics at Hamburg University, summed it up this way:

“Many people in Germany have legitimate concerns about the spread of radical Islamic ideology, which promotes violence against non-Muslims, robs women and girls of their natural rights, and seeks to require the application of Sharia law. That citizens are expressing these concerns in nonviolent demonstrations is good and right. It is a sign that these people do not feel that their concerns are being taken seriously by politicians. It is an incentive for all politicians to act more decisively at a time when political Islam is challenging and calling into question our rule of law.

“That PEGIDA protesters have advertised their goals in an exclusively peaceful manner is to be welcomed. Because the rule of law, tolerance and freedom of religion are fundamental Western values, the PEGIDA movement must leave no doubt that it is precisely these values that it seeks to defend.”

The protestors should start SINGING. Here’s one possibility:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErKTZchVVeE

J S Bach’s “take” on the same subject:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2w71qRqLt20

Furthemore: right now, we are in the Christian season of Advent.

These PEGIDA protestors could *also* do Christmas carolling! Carry candles (or if there are safety considerations, electric torches or glowlights) and ring tinkling bells and play flutes and bring guitars and *sing* all the lovely traditional Carols – both religious and ‘secular’ – of which Germany has a rich variety. Of the religious carols, “Silent Night” and “In dulce Jubilo” being two of the best known.

Of the “secular’ carols, “O Tannenbaum” (O Christmas tree).

And sing the Psalms – which are common to both Jews and Christians.

And – just to make the point about not being Nazis – they could hold up Hanukkah lights *as well* and sing Hanukkah folk-songs. Hanukkah runs from Wednesday 17th to Christmas Eve. So during protests/ rallies held during this period they could sing a bracket of Hanukkah songs right alongside their Christmas carols, either at the beginning or the end; and some of the Gentile protestors, whether religious or not, could don Stars of David in solidarity with the Jews who are being targeted by genocidal Muslim hate both within and outside of Israel (especially in Europe).

(A rereading of portions of the Books of the Maccabees and the story behind the eight lights of Hanukkah might prove inspiring).

      SOLUTION:

      1. Round up all Muslims and place the ones who are not openly violent in institutions where they can be treated by psychiatrists and deprogrammed. Then place the ones who are openly violent in a position where they will be judged in full accordance with the obviously unfair standards that they themselves are so used to employing against others who differ with them.

      Why?

Because all Muslims are in agreement with Islamic authority (i.e. the Shahada / Islamic confession of faith, especially the part that exalts the authority behind the Qur’an and Muhammad, the terrorist’s, authority above all other authorities); because most Muslims dare not lift a finger to fight the openly violent ones and in so doing inspire the violent ones to perpetuate their violence without fear of being dealt with effectively; because most Muslims act as if Sharia is a good thing for everyone; because.

      2. Do whatever we need to do to outlaw multiculturalism (which, in a world that has been forced by law to become mad with politically correct thinking / actually incorrect thinking, has turned out to be a camouflage for cultural relativism or the notion that all cultures are equally good for everyone, even if that culture happens to be a death cult appearing to be a benign religion, even if that culture happens to be an Islamic/Sharia-based madness that all truly civilized minds despise with a vengeance, even if that culture happens to be based on the thinking of an obviously mad prophet/messenger who claims to have received divine/religious/spiritual revelations)

ddo: An excellent set of ideas. The opposition could alternate between the ‘Internazionale’ and the ‘Horst-Wessel-Lied’. Those who fling nazism should read this:

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam_in_Germany

“Had Charles Martel not been victorious at Poitiers … then we should in all probability have been converted to Mohammedanism, that CULT which glorifies the heroism and which opens up the seventh Heaven to the bold warrior alone. Then the Germanic races would have conquered the world.”

“German Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière characterized PEGIDA as “shameless,” adding: “We have no danger of Islamization, certainly not in Saxony or Dresden with 2.2% immigrant population.”

This “shameless” traitor picked his words and his areas carefully – he’s a politician after all. Can someone from PEGIDA arrange an unprotected tour for him of a local ‘no-go’ area, or if they don’t have one, try Berlin with 6% or Frankfurt with 12% worshippers of mo.

I CANNOT believe that all that is reported here and at BCF, GoV, BNI… and internal police and security reports, are entirely unknown to dangerous or malevolent idiots like this. It UTTERLY beggars belief. Are they so insulated by their staff that they never see or hear any of the atrocities of islam? And if they know, then what? They don’t want to rock the boat? They want to get their pension and retire to whatever country is still safe, and has no moslems? Good luck with that.

“In an interview with the German newsmagazine Der Spiegel, Justice Minister Heiko Maas said:

“There are limits to the political battle of ideas. [ONLY when islam is involved!] All political parties should clearly distance themselves from these protests. [WHY!] We cannot be silent if a xenophobic atmosphere is being built on the backs of people who have lost everything [because of their CULT] and come to us for help: [Parasites] We have to be clear that the demonstrators are not the majority.”

If that poll has any validity, the so-called ‘Justice’ Minister is a bloody liar and a fool, (just like ‘my people’ Holder) with 75% agreeing to degrees, and 30% agreeing absolutely. But given the infinite funds available to the Merkel government, and the infinite venality those sinislam leftard water carriers for mo, expect massive advertising, opinion pieces, mockumentaries, and possibly even provocations.

It would be inanely easy for a leftard security service functionary to untraceably fund Germany’s equivalent of UK’s UAF, to go and do a mini-Kristallnacht against barracks/mosques or synagogues.
They could even make it bad enough to ‘institute special measures’, or call out special riot police or troops.

And leftards can never disappoint you for sinking to new lows, unbelievable drivel:

Angela Merkel, HUSSEIN Obama, David Cameron appear to be in cahoots to emphasise that Islam is “a religion of peace”. If any one of these feeble minded so called leaders had bothered to read even a few verses of the Qu’ran or had paid any attention to the many Muslim scholars who have openly stated that Islam is exactly the opposite they would have realised that they were deliberately LYING in order to keep their jobs! Will it always be the same or will the likes of Geert Wilders ever have the same influence to convince enough people that radical Islam is a death threat to everything we hold dear.

“David Cameron appear to be in cahoots to emphasise that Islam is “a religion of peace”.”

Vichy Dave has changed his tune. In 2005 he was saying “islamic extremists are Nazis”. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4179106.stm In 2005 the BBC was producing news programmes which quoted the most prominent islamic theologians of the 20th century and their affinity for nazism and fascism.

Since getting into power, Vichy Dave has invited islamo-nazis to Downing St. and to Chequers. Meanwhile he’s banned Robert Spencer from entering the UK, and repeated over and over again that “islam is the religion of peace”.

But Vichy Dave is not alone in becoming a Quisling. Since 2005 his buddies who run the media have gone totally silent on discussions about the nature of political islam in Britain. See this BBC article from 2005: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4424208.stm and this from 2001: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/1603178.stm Nothing comparable has been published by the media in the UK since 2005.

Once Vichy Dave got into power, the Tories have been about nothing more than reiterating the absurd claim “islam is the religion of peace” (more like “the religion of peace in our time”). And all mention of banning Hizb ut Tahrir has been dropped by the media these last 5 years (people who consider themselves “well-informed” and politically-engaged have been deluded by the media and government silence into thinking Hizb ut Tahrir no longer exists..

Organisations like Fiyaz Mughal’s “Faith Matters” (recipients of huge Tory government largesse) have published documents opposing the banning of HIzb ut Tahrir whilst calling for the banning of the Jewish Defence League. Cameron’s deputy PM even lied as he quoted the koran, just days after the ritual islamic beheading of Lee Rigby.

“My purpose was, I broke this curse because [Muslims] say, ‘Only Allah is the Lord. He is God, the only God.’

This is not a political demonstration, but it is a good rendition of a great Advent/Christmas hymn, “Es ist ein Ros’ entsprungen”.

Reading from the book of the Maccabees is a good suggestion. They speak of Judaea’s struggle to protect and preserve its faith in a time when the Seleucids were trying to impose idolatry. Jesus himself observed Chanukah (John 10:22). As a Protestant, I see Maccabees as “edifying literature” rather then Scripture; but I still see its historical importance.

The situation in Europe is intolerable. The Islamisation is a done deal and the polit-clowns, especially the unelected ones in the EU, are complicit.

Few are willing to resist, like Geert Wilders and a few diehards, who pay a high price for not submitting.

Especially galling is the invasion from countries where there is no political prosecution, recently there have been large numbers of new arrivals from Tunisia, Ghana, Senegal and many other black African states. This is no accident. The question why Europeans should accommodate Muslim people who bring in their mental baggage a genocidal hatred for the infidel and a determination to conquer their lands by all and any means is never asked. Neither has anyone ever suggested that the filthy rich Arabs in the Gulf resettle their poorer Muslim brothers. Why, pray tell, is it supposedly the burden of “rich” western countries to accommodate Muslim savages?

I am so relieved to see the formation of PEGIDA in Germany. I spent time in Germany 20 years ago– even though that was quite a while ago, I noticed a concerted effort against neo-Nazi ideology. I traveled there with an American tattoo artist who was a bit of a biker, and our German hosts requested that he remove some biker pins from his leather jacket that might be taken as being related to white supremacy. Even jewelry or visual imagery that many American bikers embrace is considered forbidden. I have every faith that Germany’s PEGIDA is moving forward to address the real problem of Islamisation in a way that stands up for Western values: tolerance (to those who will assimilate and show us tolerance in kind), equal rights for women, gay rights, protection for our Jewish brothers and sisters, and preserving our Western heritage.

Would you, your Highness, be so kind and with as much humility as you possibly can offer, and that you believe we deserve, to inform us of your definition of neo-Nazi? That would be my only, but simple request, Mr. or Mrs. Christy!

Mr. or Mrs. should take away *cristy’s* keyboard. I, on purpose, do not put the h as the comments coming from this person are nothing like Christ would say.

Someone makes a charge that others are neo-Nazis. I ask the vilifier for a definition of the word neo-Nazi and I get no response. I wonder what type of mind would hurl such polemics? One who hasn’t given much thought to his thoughts? One who flings insults in order to indulge or to satisfy his own malevolent feelings or emotions?

    Christy posted:

“So nice to see Robert Spencer and company showing their true colors for all the world to see by praising neo-Nazis!”

Where and when did that happen?

“Then again Spencer was an inspiration to Anders Behring Breivik so no surprise there.”

Guess what? There’s already a section of JW answering to this kind of slander:

    http://www.jihadwatch.org/the-truth-about-robert-spencer-rebuttals-to-false-charges

“The charge: Robert Spencer inspired the Norwegian terrorist mass murder Anders Behring Breivik, who cited Spencer many times in his manifesto.

The facts: This charge is meant to imply that Spencer calls for violence and that Breivik heeded his call. This is absolutely false. In all his quotations of Spencer, Breivik never quotes him calling for or justifying violence — because he never does. In fact, Breivik even criticized him for not doing so, saying of Spencer, historian Bat Ye”or and other critics of jihad terror: “If these authors are to [sic] scared to propagate a conservative revolution and armed resistance then other authors will have to.” (Breivik, 2083: A European Declaration of Independence, p. 743) Breivik explains in his manifesto that he was “radicalized” by his experiences with Muslim immigrants in the early 1990s, before Spencer had published anything about Islam (See Breivik, p. 1348).

Breivik also hesitantly but unmistakably recommended making common cause with jihadists, which neither Spencer nor any other opponent of jihad would ever do: “An alliance with the Jihadists might prove beneficial to both parties but will simply be too dangerous (and might prove to be ideologically counter-productive). We both share one common goal.” (Breivik, p. 948). He even called for making common cause with Hamas in plotting jihad terror: “Approach a representative from a Jihadi Salafi group. Get in contact with a Jihadi strawman. Present your terms and have him forward them to his superiors”¦.Present your offer. They are asked to provide a biological compound manufactured by Muslim scientists in the Middle East. Hamas and several Jihadi groups have labs and they have the potential to provide such substances. Their problem is finding suitable martyrs who can pass “˜screenings” in Western Europe. This is where we come in. We will smuggle it in to the EU and distribute it at a target of our choosing. We must give them assurances that we are not to harm any Muslims etc.” (Breivik, p. 949)

Investigative journalist and author Daniel Greenfield explained:

Jeffrey Goldberg at the Atlantic goes so far as to call a prominent researcher into Islamic terrorism, Robert Spencer, a jihadist. The Washington Post admits that Spencer and other researchers are not responsible for the shootings, but sneers nonetheless. And the New York Times and a number of other outlets have picked and touted the “64 times” that Spencer was quoted in the shooter’s manifesto”¦

The “64 times” cited by the Times and its imitators reflects lazy research since the majority of those quotes actually come from a single document, where Spencer is quoted side by side with Tony Blair and Condoleezza Rice”¦.

Many of the other Spencer quotes are actually secondhand from essays written by Fjordman that also incorporate selections of quotes on Islam and its historical background. Rather than Breivik quoting Spencer, he is actually quoting Fjordman who is quoting Spencer.

Quite often, Robert Spencer is quoted providing historical background on Islam and quotes from the Koran and the Hadith. So, it’s actually Fjordman quoting Spencer quoting the Koran. If the media insists that Fjordman is an extremist and Spencer is an extremist “” then isn’t the Koran also extremist?

And if the Koran isn’t extremist, then how could quoting it be extremist?

The New York Times would have you believe that secondhand quotes like these from Spencer turned Breivik into a raging madman”¦.

Breivik was driven by fantasies of seizing power, combined with steroid abuse and escapism. He used quotes from researchers into terrorism to pad out his schizophrenic worldview, combined with fantasies of multiple terrorist cells and an eventual rise to power.

This is not so different from lunatics who picked up a copy of “Catcher in the Rye” and then set off to kill a celebrity. A not uncommon event, for which J.D. Salinger bears no responsibility whatsoever.”

Ah, Angemon, quite right of you to counter Christy’s libelous assertions with plenty of facts. Unfortunately, facts for Christy are optional as Christy has demonstrated many times here at JW. Actually though, as long as Christy doesn’t engage in tedious and long-winded spamming, which this person has done on many occasions, I’m glad to see someone such as Christy posting here at JW so all of sense and knowledge can see how a deluded person like Christy “thinks.” Good work, Angemon.

The Germans, especially their government, know that they’re walking a tightrope because that long, lurking shadow of their Nazi past casts its everlasting pall over any ‘demonstrations’ against any group at all, and especially any seemingly Government sponsored activities against Muslims.
In other words, the Muslims of today inside Germany have in a sense, inside political Germany at least, become the current-date Jews of yesteryear.
In that sense, the present day Germans are “hoist on their own petard”. So, perhaps we can understand [at least a little bit] German hesitancy to send out any nationally organized effort of containing their Muslims as they literally contained their Jews in those infamous ghettos.
Now, we inside the United States have no such cloud over our head [and, no, let’s not hear any snark about the evil CIA’s “torture” of those poor dear, quivering Muslims inside our Guantanamo’s barbed wire fences who caused so much death and destruction at Lower Manhattan. ]
We Americans will have to accept that “turning the other cheek” is lethally silly when confronted by Muslims who sneer at that very concept from out of our heritage.
After my decade of being an expat in East/Southeast Asia during the 1960’s, I came home with a firm attitude that we pay far too much attention to the opinions of others who are only interested in how much cash/materiel they can wheedle out of us under the pretense of entangling alliances.
We seem to lack the necessary national hardness and pragmatic attitude to fight our butchering Muslim enemy wherever they may be, especially inside our America.
So, here we are, and here we’re likely to remain until we wise up to this literally bloody existential Muslim threat.
    Who knows when that’ll be?

The stealthy wall of silence that’s been so carefully and successfully built by the Muslim Brotherhood in their stealth Jihad against the west is beginning to crack; in Europe if not in America where the MB has established deep roots within the halls of power. How deep are those roots? Deep enough to allow Barack Hussein Obama to forcefully declare that the Islamic State has nothing to do with Islam and Joe Biden to sanctimoniously consider himself more knowledgeable about Islam than Ayaan Hirsi Ali.

America has a long way to go if it is not rudely awakened by yet another horrific terrorist attack, perpetrated openly and publicly in the name of allah, that is openly and publicly identified, accurately, as such.

I am happy about the protest that PEGIDA has carried out and continues its efforts. I am uncomfortable with its ‘Judea Christian’ roots, however. Including Islam, these are three desert religions that exhort their members to behave in a mean and clannish manner. Desert religions of Abrahamic tradition have cause untold damage to humans of other persuasion as well as non-persuasion (atheists). While these protests are absolutely the right thing to do, I would be more comfortable if the roots were secular and scientific thought rather than religions.
