Indonesia: Muslim group warns President not to say “Merry Christmas”

Dec 20, 2014 6:24 pm By Robert Spencer

FPI-dibubarkanIf he does, they say he will become an apostate from Islam, since Islam forbids Muslims to give good wishes to Christians on the occasion of their feasts. And if he is an apostate from Islam, then according to Muhammad’s command and Islamic law, he can lawfully be killed.

“FPI Calls on President Not to Wish Merry Christmas,” Tempo.co, December 19, 2014 (thanks to Phillip):

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Micbachul Anama, the chairman of the Islamic Defenders Front’s (FPI) consultative council, has asked President Joko Widodo not to wish the country’s Christians a merry Christmas. Micbachul said the president would be deemed an apostate should he opt to do so.

“It is haram (forbidden for Muslims) to wish a merry Christmas, including for President Jokowi,” he told Tempo on Thursday, December 18, 2014.

Micbach claimed wishing a merry Christmas to Christians would make a Muslim an apostate for acknowledging the existence of another religion. He explained, according to the Great Dictionary of Indonesian Language (KBBI), Christmas is defined as the birth of Jesus Christ.

“So when there’s a Muslim who says a marry Christmas, it means he congratulates (Christians) on the birth of Jesus,” he said.

In that context, he went on, wishing a merry Christmas to Christians had a serious impact on the faith of Muslims. “Whereas it is stated clearly in Islam that God is lam yalid wa lam yulad. God was not born and does not give birth to,” he said.

The country’s largest Islamic organization, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), meanwhile, said in contrast that wishing Christians a merry Christmas was an act of tolerance and would not affect one’s principles and religious identities….

All true, but the President is not committing apostasy if he has his fingers crossed behind his back while saying “Merry Christmas” (Sahih Bukhari 88, translation, J. Biden).

Surprising that they didn’t threaten to kill Obama during his Islamic kiss ass tour of the region for having said the words Merry Christmas in the past.
But then again as long as he is doing Islam’s bidding, a Muslim posing as a Christian will get a free temporary pass. The same goes for the Jewish congressman who married Hillary’s Muslim cucumber concubine.

Bear in mind Islam is Satanic; Muslims bow down to the Devil himself, and pray to a pagan phallic stone. so the very idea of wishing someone Merry Christmas fills them with the demonic lust to commit murder. Muslims are all headed to the same place; the fires of Hell. Why else would their hearts be filled with such rage and a desire to destroy? God is nowhere to be found in the heart of the Muslim. Satan is their master. Only when they renounce their demonic cult and accept Jesus into their hearts, can they be saved.

Whatever the source at the root of Islam’s disgraceful evil is:
Muslim men will begin their day by thinking that the pimping of 9 year old girls for Islamic sex followed by sanctimonious displays will bring them satisfaction.
Their vain lustful indulgence soon turns into the miserable hangover of Islam’s dishonorable emptiness.

The alleged Jesus is the Quran is very different from the one in the Bible.

The Quran arguably contains the most plagiarized and distorted material in the world! The Quran contains distorted teachings and characters from the Old and New Testaments. Distorted Talmudic (Jewish oral traditions) teachings are also contained. Then, there are Arabian occult (Jinn) and Sabaen teachings and rituals. There is even use of Zoraostranism mythical characters in the Quran – al-buraq (flying horse/mule)

Four of the Five Pillars of Islam come directly from Sabaen teachings. All the rituals during the haj can be traced to either Sabaen or Jinn rituals which predate Islam.

Mohammad realized that believe in a monotheistic god could help to unite the Arabs and strengthen their military, to defend themselves and also to conquer others. So, he set about incorporating various beliefs that were popular then, and combined them into the Quran.

But you must remember, these are purists and orthodox believers. Therefor the fact that there are people worshiping Jesus is an affront to Allah and well, you know the rest. To these people their almighty perfect god is so weak and fragile even mentioning other faiths could damage his reputation.

As a true, not nominal, Christian I can say that I love Moslems. They are created in God’s image as is all humanity.

However, I must say that as a true Christian I loathe Islam. It is a supremacist ideology which has world domination as its ultimate goal.

Mohammed has spread Islam for over 1400 years by violence, yet true Christianity was spread throughout the world by the fruits of God’s Holy Spirit. (Galatians 5: 22-23: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control)

My Jesus Christ says “I died for you” whereas Allah says “you die for me” (Quran 4:74).

My Jesus is not the same as the Isa of Islam because my Jesus, as God, is the creator of all things.

My God is not the same as the Allah of Islam because, incarnate as Jesus, my God willingly sacrificed his earthly life through crucifixion to save me for all eternity by his supernatural grace.

Where will you spend eternity. With Allah or with Jesus?

“Happy Holidays” is probably out, too, since “holiday” derives from “holy day.”

So I guess we are down to “Seasons Greetings” if we are to fully surrender to the supreme religion-of-peace.

Mohammed-mas (aka Mawlid) was December 12th this year, of course it changes every year because they are on the lunar calendar, not the sun’s yearly calendar. (Smallest unit of time = lunatic) It should probably be a somber day of fasting and repentance for non-Muslims.

Jakarta, GIVNews.com – Can Muslims wish someone ‘Merry Christmas’? This is a question that always comes up in Indonesia around Christmas times and gathers mixed opinions.

Ask President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo this question. He will definitely say: “Yes. They can.”

The President is fully aware that many Muslims individuals and organizations in Indonesia, including the powerful Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), still disagree that it is acceptable for Muslims saying Christmas greetings or attending Christmas gatherings.

Jokowi is swimming against the mainstream. Last year, as governor of Jakarta, he went around the city to make sure that security was adequately provided for churches where Christians gathered to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

Jokowi dropped in at several Catholic and Protestant churches. He entered churches, including the renowned Catholic Church cathedral and the Immanuel church and then, standing in front of the congregations and said, “Selamat natal bagi jemaat semua”, or “Merry Christmas to all of you”. The churchgoers responded with loud shouts of joy.

Also on the Christmas eve, Jokowi called then vice-governor Basuki ‘Ahok’ Tjahaja Purnama to wish him ‘Merry Christmas’.

Jokowi is scheduled to attend the government-sponsored national Christmas gathering in Jayapura, the capital of Papua, the country’s easternmost province, later this month (27 Dec.). He will deliver a Christmas speech during his visit.

Over the past 30 years, the national Christmas celebration has been an annual event that was held in Jakarta at the prestigious Jakarta Convention Center. Well-prepared Christmas songs, orchestras and dramas, which also featured renowned Muslim artists, were performed and were enthusiastically enjoyed by Muslim guests.

So far, no complaint has been aired openly about the national Christmas celebration and other Christmas gatherings at government offices and private organizations across the country.

Does the truth mislead in some way? Islam is Islam, there are no moderates nor radicals nor fundamentalist. Islam, like other faiths teach their beliefs and practices.

Do those that teach Islam do so based on a strata of light, moderate, extreme and jihad?

Do Christian or Buddhist or Hindu religious teachings teach their faith based on light, moderate, extreme and the equivalent of jihad?

Islamic schools, especially the ones set up for the young are where indoctrination into Islamic principles occur. Islam teaches only one Islam as is the case with other religions. That Islam is jihadist in nature and is against humanity has nothing with how or who teaches it. As long as the Quran is taught, we should expect only one outcome.

Slamet Effendi, chairman of The Nahdlatul Ulama (Revival/Awakening of Religious Scholars) the country’s largest Muslim mass organization, said Muslims sending Christmas greetings shows religious tolerance, which is a very important value for Indonesia.

“It has nothing to do with a Muslim’s confession of faith,” Slamet told Tempo magazine.

Slamet said that Islamic teachings disallow Muslims to attend Christian liturgical gatherings. He did not say, however, if the national Christmas celebration held so far is a prayer meeting.

Meanwhile, noted Exeget Professor Muhammad Quraish Shihab holds a more tolerant stance.

Shihab said: “As a Muslim, going to your friend’s home to wish him “Merry Christmas” is part of a greeting and (maintaining) a good relationship. Similarly, it is impossible for us, Muslims, to tell our Christian friends not to come to our homes on Idul Fitri Holiday”.

Shihab, who is the former Minister of Religious Affairs under the leadership of president Abdurrahman Wahid, further said, as transcribed from a TV program by Tribunews.com, “as a Muslim, there is nothing wrong with you when you say Christmas greetings while in your heart you say that Prophet Isa is not the son of God.”

Shihab attended university education in Cairo where he witnessed Al Azhar ulemas going to the homes of Christian leaders to wish them “Merry Christmas”. Even, a great ulema in Suriah issued a fatwa that allows such visits, he added.

Meanwhile, Minister of Religious Affairs Lukman Hakim said last week that Muslims can even wear Santa Claus hats when attending Christmas gatherings at their workplaces. However, they should not be obliged if they are not comfortable with wearing them.

Today’s news for instance, tells us about an entire Indonesian family being stopped at Jakarta airport bound for Syria to join jihad –

I would think you should be more worried if Indonesia was not stopping them

You miss my point entirely. Such a family, and others, have been nurtured within a radical interpretation of Islam. They have become prominent only because they were stopped at the airport. How many more are there who want to do jihad in the Middle East….or at home in Indonesia?

          And you miss my point

Capturing these Islamist show that a was killed in a police raid is taking a hard line towards the Islamists. Also many of the Islamist have been killed,

Malaysian Dr Azahari Husin, along with two other militants were killed in a raid of a house in Malang, East Java.

Noordin Top, All members of his cell were either killed or captured, including the recruiter and field coordinator of the attack, Ibrohim, killed on August 12, 2009,[16] and the one said to be his successor, Syaifudin Zuhri, killed on October 9, 2009

Dulmatin, a senior figure in the militant group Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) and one of the most wanted terrorists in Southeast Asia was killed in a police raid in Pamulang, Jakarta by Detachment 88

So, I gather from your post that you think it would be better not to kill these people or sentence them to death on capture? Maybe we should just turn a blind eye while they attack Bali again or blow up more hotels in Jakarta.

Good grief, how hard is it to copy/paste something? “Capturing these Islamist show that a was killed”? Really? Maybe you should tag the other guy in.

          “August 12, 2009,[16]”

You’re not even trying anymore. Does Horsey know you’re after his “Wikipedia Expert” title?

No, your point is not that “a police raid is taking a hard line towards the Islamists”. Your point is to make us believe that Indonesia is against “islamists”. The thing is, Aceh was allowed to fully enforce sharia law. Now, what do “islamists” want? Well, enforce sharia law. It seems the indonesian government is willing to allow sharia but terrorist attacks is where it draws the line – the issue seems to be with the methods used, not with the goals.
