A man dressed as Santa Claus in the nation of Jordan has been arrested for “evangelizing” and “inciting sectarian strife” in the Muslim-majority nation. A translation of the Arabic report published December 24 follows:
Jordanian authorities have arrested a wanted man, a celebrity known as “Papa Noel” [Santa Claus], as he was distributing presents in various parts of the country.
Santa Claus was donning a red costume and white beard when he was detected by two patrols. A frantic manhunt ensued along the congested Zahran street, eventually leading to his capture some 90 minutes later.
He was charged with evangelizing, inciting sectarian strife, and conducting unauthorized charitable activities—all of which fall under anti-terrorism legislation. He was further charged with being costumed, something also banned by authorities and which had previously led to the arrest of the Ronald McDonald clown in the Arab nation.

Dear Dr. Sennels , it seems to me that these kinds of attacks are on the rise in Europe , and that’s where I live. Anyway , I find them very disturbing/frightening . It generates angst and anger in me. Feel so powerless . In my neighbourhood there are living quite a lot of Moroccan people , and I’ve had my share of undeserved agressive encounters . I,ve been verbally insulted many times ( calling me names ), threats have been made also . I’ve been beaten up , stabbed , and robbed . And then the nearly daily provocations and intimidations . Spitting in front of my feet for example is one of the milder forms .My ex-girlfriend had her share too of undesired encounters : verbal abuses and gropings mostly . The perpetrators nearly allways were young Moroccan men . Sometimes older men too . Children hurl insults on a regular bases aswell . Moving somewhere else is no solution for me : I don’t have the financial means . What to do ?

At least record everything, wear some kind of action camera (cannot afford? put mail to me emailiamulle@gmail.com). And then feed the videos to Youtube, remember to mention the causes: islam & racism. Make report of an offence on clear cases.

Ummm….This is a satirical article–not uncommon in these newspapers.
The photo you included here is missing in the linked article, which includes a photo of a Santa Claus mannequin playing a sax.
RG says
@ Skanderbeg.
Ahhh… What flavor koolaid have you been drinking? So this is just “satirical”…as in, ‘not actually true’? Then why would the muslim world go to great lengths to report it – even showing a manufactured ‘photo’ of Santa Claus, so as to make sure the non-muslim kaffirs take note???
Everybody knows that muslims hate Christmas – and are threatened by anything that opposes their vicious philosophies of violence and bloodshed. Are you one of them? Sure sounds like it to me!!
Explain yourself. Inquiring minds want to know!
Skanderbeg says
@RG
I’m not denying Muslims hate Christmas. This is an issue of fact verification.
I don’t know where the above photo came from: It certainly didn’t come from the Arabic-linked article. Guess that point wasn’t clear in my last message.
There’s probably thousands of real news items relating to Muslims hating Christmas. Some of these have already been covered by jihadwatch.
I’ve donated a substantial portion of my income to assist Christians of the Middle East from kidnapping and forced conversion. You can Google my handle and probably figure out for yourself where I stand on theological grounds.
I’m a big and longtime fan of Raymond Ibrahim and have read much of what he’s written.
I think he dropped the ball on this one.

A man dressed as Santa Claus is enough to shake the foundation of Islam to its core.
Islam can only take so much introspection before it begins to unravel.
What if women everywhere began walking around without covering their hair?
Muslims everywhere might then suddenly stop the process of expanding their consciousness while simultaneously pondering the fate of the universe.
Wouldn’t Allah be so pissed?
The answers to life’s greatest mysteries might be revealed.
Muslims might ask, “was Muhammad just an evil elf?”
Any interruption of the Islamic thought process could potentially alter the course of all humanity.
Muslims need to step away from Santa Claus enticement to keep open the portal of Mo’s wisdom. Muslims must not block the rigid insights spiraling through Islam’s vortex with unbalanced asynchronous thoughts of Santa Clause.
Muslims are at risk of making a choice that might inevitably lead unforeseen consequences beyond the limits of their enslaved imagination.
Only Santa Clause has the hidden answer wrapped up with a bow as to what lies ahead for Islam.

“A man dressed as Santa Claus is enough to shake the foundation of Islam to its core.”
One might wonder what a “prophet” dressed in women’s clothing would do to the foundations of Islam?!?!

Once again Ibrahim posts thatis total bullshit.
For starters, the photo was taken in Lebanon, not Jordan.
BEIRUT: In Christmas spirit and with a keenness for road safety, the Internal Security Forces promoted a number of their officers to their Santa squad Tuesday to reward citizens for abiding by traffic laws.
In the ISF’s own version of who was good and who was naughty, policemen dressed in Santa Clause suits handed out presents to motorists who were wearing seat belts.
The ISF Twitter account displayed pictures of their Santas standing alongside a number of policemen in different parts of Lebanon as they handed out wrapped presents to passersby.

So it’s on par with your english then. For semeru everything Raymond Ibrahim posts is “once again total bullshit”, even though semeru never actually proved anything Raymond Ibrahim is “total bullshit” – such is the curse of islamic white-washers.
“For starters, the photo was taken in Lebanon, not Jordan.”
And that’s everything semeru needs to declare that something is “total bullshit”.

Uhhh, to all those saying this story is fake, Ibrahim dropped the ball, yada yada, what do you make of this? Same story by an English/Egyptian website, and no suggestion that it is a fake or satire: http://www.egyptindependent.com//news/santa-claus-impersonator-arrested-jordan

@Luket
Actually, the Egyptian paper is citing the same source Raymond cited. Semeru above apparently located the source of the photo attached to this article. The Egyptian paper’s photo does not look like it took place in Jordan.
The original article stated the culprit’s initials as “S K” (Santa Claus’ Arabic initials). Coincidence?
To further drive the sarcasm home, the article ends discussing the arrest of Ronald McDonald.

The source of the fatwah is Fadek Television Station
A satellite TV station based in suburban England is being investigated after allegations it broadcast a cleric’s “hate sermons” and “vile rants” to audiences across the Middle East.
The UK’s independent television regulator says it has launched an investigation into Fadak TV, which was founded by Sheikh Yasser al-Habib. The Shia cleric has been accused of making remarks on air considered offensive to Sunni Muslims, and of stirring sectarian tensions in the Islamic world.
Sheikh Yasser’s UK-licensed station is based in a former Christian church hall in the leafy village of Fulmer in suburban Buckinghamshire.
Ofcom, which regulates communications in the UK, told Al Arabiya News it has recently launched an investigation into the station.
“Fadak TV is under investigation by Ofcom and if the channel is found to be breaking our rules, then we will take robust action. Our powers allow us to issues fines and take channels off air,” a spokesman said.
Ofcom reportedly investigated Fadak TV in 2012 after a sermon by Sheikh al-Habib.

So you link to what could be a Coptic news web site,. the source which Ibrahim links to could also be Coptic, and it is not unusual for then to publish articles or images that are false.
The article you link contains a photo of Santa being busted, but if you look you would see it is completely different Santa, and the uniforms of the police are not the same. Also the writing on the back of the uniform has been photoshopped, plus it has been cropped
The photo is from Chile,

Some trivia, the photo in Ibrahims link, also appears on on the same site 16/12 2004. The article is about a shop keeper trying to sell the Doll for 900 Egyptian pounds
