Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Raymond Ibrahim: How Western Media Enable Islamic Terrorism

Dec 24, 2014 8:33 am By Raymond Ibrahim

As the West experiences a rise in the sort of terror attacks that are endemic to the Islamic world—church attacks, sex-slavery and beheadings—it is only natural that the same mainstream media that habitually conceals such atrocities “over there,” especially against Christians and other minorities under Islam, would also conceal the reality of jihadi aspirations “over here.”

As The Commentator reports:

[T]he level of the [media] grovelling after the tragic and deadly saga in Sydney Australia over the last 24 hours has been astounding.

At the time of writing, the lead story on the BBC website is of course about that very tragedy, in which an Islamist fanatic took a random group hostage in a cafe, ultimately killing two of them.

He did this in the name of Islam. But you wouldn’t get that impression if you started to read the BBC’s lead story, which astoundingly managed to avoid mentioning the words Islam, Islamic, Islamist, Muslim, or any derivations thereof for a full 16 paragraphs. The New York Times, which led by calling the terrorist, Man Haron Monis an “armed man”, waited until paragraph 11.

In the Guardian’s main story – whose lead paragraph simply referred to a “gunman” — you had to wait until paragraph 24.

If you’d have blinked, you’d have missed it. […]

In the wider media, reports about Muslim fears of a “backlash” have been all but ubiquitous.

If these are the lengths that Western mainstream media go to dissemble about the Islamic-inspired slaughter of Western peoples, it should now be clear why the ubiquitous Muslim persecution of those unfashionable Christian minorities is also practically unknown by those who follow Western mainstream media.

As with the Sydney attack, media headlines say it all. The 2011 New Year’s Eve Coptic church attack that left 28 dead appeared under vague headlines: “Clashes grow as Egyptians remain angry after attack,” was the New York Times’ headline; and “Christians clash with police in Egypt after attack on churchgoers kills 21” was the Washington Post’s—as if frustrated and harried Christians lashing out against their oppressors is the “big news,” not the unprovoked atrocity itself; as if their angry reaction “evens” everything up.

Similarly, the Los Angeles Times partially told the story of an Egyptian off-duty police officer who, after identifying Copts by their crosses on a train, opened fire on them, killing one, while screaming “Allahu Akbar”—but to exonerate the persecution, as caught by the report’s headline: “Eyewitness claims train attacker did not target Copts, state media say.”

A February 2012 NPR report titled “In Egypt, Christian-Muslim Tension is on the Rise,” while meant to familiarize readers with the situation of Egypt’s Christians, prompts more questions than answers them:  “In Egypt, growing tensions between Muslims and Christians have led to sporadic violence [initiated by whom?]. Many Egyptians blame the interreligious strife on hooligans [who?] taking advantage of absent or weak security forces. Others believe it’s because of a deep-seated mistrust between Muslims and the minority Christian community [what are the sources of this “mistrust”?].”

The photo accompanying the story is of angry Christians holding a cross aloft—not Muslims destroying crosses, which is what prompted the former to this display of Christian solidarity.

Blurring the line between victim and oppressor—recall the fear of “anti-Muslim backlash” whenever a Muslim terrorizes “infidels” in the West—also applies to the media’s reporting on Muslim persecution of Christians.

A February 2012 BBC report on a church attack in Nigeria that left three Christians dead, including a toddler, objectively states the bare bone facts in one sentence.  Then it jumps to apparently the really big news: that “the bombing sparked a riot by Christian youths, with reports that at least two Muslims were killed in the violence. The two men were dragged off their bikes after being stopped at a roadblock set up by the rioters, police said. A row of Muslim-owned shops was also burned…”

The report goes on and on, with an entire section about “very angry” Christians till one confuses victims with persecutors, forgetting what the Christians are “very angry” about in the first place: nonstop terror attacks on their churches and the slaughter of their women and children.

A New York Times report that appeared on December 25, 2011—the day after Boko Haram bombed several churches during Christmas Eve services, leaving some 40 dead—said that such church bombings threaten “to exploit the already frayed relations between Nigeria’s nearly evenly split populations of Christians and Muslims…”  Such an assertion suggests that both Christians and Muslims are equally motivated by religious hostility—even as one seeks in vain for Christian terror organizations that bomb mosques in Nigeria to screams of “Christ is Great!”

Meanwhile, Boko Haram has torched 185 churches—to say nothing of the countless Christians beheaded—in just the last few months alone.

Continuing to grasp for straws, the same NYT report suggests that the Nigerian government’s “heavy-handed” response to Boko Haram is responsible for its terror, and even manages to invoke another mainstream media favorite: the poverty-causes-terrorism myth.

Whether Muslim mayhem is taking place in the Islamic or Western worlds, the mainstream media shows remarkable consistency in employing an arsenal of semantic games, key phrases, convenient omissions, and moral relativism to portray such violence as a product of anything and everything—political and historical grievances, “Islamophobia,” individual insanity, poverty and ignorance, territorial disputes—not Islam.

As such, Western media keep Western majorities in the dark about the Islamic threat, here and abroad.  In short, the “MSM” protects and enables the Islamic agenda—irrespective of whether its distortions are a product of intent, political correctness, or sheer stupidity.

Our war against jihad must start here, at home. We must first get rid of these jihad enablers; our compromised MSM, academics, elites, judiciary, PC politicians, governments, etc.
Unfortunately, we can’t get rid of these traitors without using some sort of force.

Not ‘fire’, we are trying to change their minds. When they change their minds, these people can be dynamic because they know cultural Marxism from within.

        Raymond Ibrahim,

Thanks for this eloquent and very accurate piece, which exactly describes what many of us already, more than noticed, in disgust, about to what degree western media is helping Islam and Jihad, world wide.

As I already mentioned in a past comment, I stopped tuning in to any BBC or CBC media outlet, for over 18 months now, as I literally felt, at one point, that I was about to throw up, after a long time of me putting up with almost non stop covert and overt praises of Islam, religion of love, peace, and the persistent, consistent and flagrant distortion of news for the benefit of Islam and anything related to it, as explained in the article above!

In their desire to show ‘both sides’, and in the interest of ‘fairness’, journalists actually quote totalitarian propaganda uncritically. The religious illiteracy of journalists and their editors verges on criminal negligence. Western people cannot make informed decisions without a well-informed media.

The laity are now becoming better informed about Islam than the journalists whose undigested garble they must read, since so few journalists have the slightest inkling about jihad, Islamic supremacism or Islamic misogyny.

    Editors, are you listening?

Yes, basically relativism is taking to far.
“We have to understand on their right of been violent, we cannot be to judgmental” and all this crap. Screw them, if they are to excuse this behavior then they should live among them at the first place, buy a ticket one way to Saudi Arabia to this editors. Problem solved.

You’re right Mortimer in your analysis. Meanwhile, after thinking they’re doing that for fairness and to show the two points of view, I discovered, with passing time, that more and more news pieces are deliberately skewed in favour of Islam, Muslims, providing cover for Jihad or any combination of them, to the point of being outright, outrageously, unfair to the other side, which in many cases are innocent victims of Islam.

In many cases I even felt that it bordered on crime against humanity!

    Great article Ibrahim.
Muslims are the protected species, it is quite legitimate for them to create havoc, and we have to cope with it. They have a free pass on violence, after all that was what their pedophile prophet taught them as the right thing to do.

Christianity is a revalation of what our Lord Jesus Christ proclaimed in his walk in this world,he preached love and forgiveness something that Islam fails to understand because Muhammad the prophet/servant of the devil was sent to bring a message (Quran) of confusion and disaster upon those who refuse to sign up to Islam a religion that is imposed upon you,a religion that it’s so called God (BAAL) entertains lies and deception. Understand this a good tree can never in its life time produce bad fruit neither can a bad tree ever produce good fruit, you call us infidels but look at yourselves I’d be ashamed to worship a god such as yours look at you’s you are all drunk on the blood of BAAL and you can’t see the true before you.

The government and news media defends Islam for one important reason: capitalism and PETROLEUM. Lets quickly employ non-petroleum fuels, stop buying from the Muslim nations and we will see the money which supports Islamic Jihad dry up. Take your money out of Muslim banks and US banks which are selling out America for profit. Don’t purchase clothes from Pakistan, Indonesia or other Muslim countries. Don’t support the companies which are making money in those nations. You may get less interest in your bank, you may pay more for US made clothes, but you will help defeat Jihad!

I read Breivik’s “Compendium”. In it he claimed that his initial target for mass killings was to have been a conference full of journalists. When he concluded that the security would be too tight to breach, he chose instead to kill the sons and daughters of socialists.

Considering that Breivik has some years ago identified the culpability of the media/journalists, it is inevitable as the crisis in the west worsens, that more people will come to realise what the absolutely pivotal Quisling role played by all journalists.

Dear Raymond, it’s now almost 14 years since 9/11. On that day almost as many civilians died in New York City as U.S. sailors at Pearl Harbor. George W. Bush responded to the event with great measure and restraint – he could easily have lost his nerve and set off a conflagration. As a foreigner I am grateful that the U.S. public had elected a man who was able to respond in such a professional manner. Unfortunately however we are now stuck with one aspect of this legacy. When the Bush administration settled on the term ‘War On Terror’ it cast our attention past the obvious religious underpinnings of the crime. Looking back on it now, the decision to run with a euphemism such as ‘War On Terror’ may have made sense to a leadership wishing to contain a crisis; an administration trying desperately not to open the gates to an international religious conflict. Today, 14 years later, we are still stuck with a failed policy of containment. With every week that passes we continue to build a gigantic farce and the credibility gap between what political leaders and social commentators say on the one hand and what the general public perceives, on the other, continues to widen alarmingly. This may be shaping up to be the biggest farce of the 21st century and the time is well and truly ripe for politicians with a view to their future careers to brake ranks and opt to speak plainly about this religiously motivated global terror.

Who? Who are the people controlling what printed =the editors/publisher. Staffs and higher are occupied by Muslim/Muslim Advocates/those afraid to offend their co workers but its at the top who is the traitor of honest reporting. Who really is that person in the reporting room?

There’s a legal saying “Knew, or ought to have known,” which surely must apply in a venue which prides itself on KNOWING the fact, and spreading the news about them.

It’s been how long since 9/11 brought islam to the world’s attention again?!

The enemedia presstitutes’ jobs should be to do simple, basic research into the subjects they pontificate on.

When they put up their fact-free opinions in stead of those facts, they are committing the CRIME of slanderous, victim-blaming criminally-negligent FRAUD.

With islam, they are all willing accessories and complicit enablers of this ancient yet ongoing extortion-racket CRIME-syndicate fraudulently advertised as the “religion” of islam, and as such they are aiding and abetting these “holy mobsters'” human-trafficking slavery and murder crimes.

They should be arrested charged indicted tried and sentenced.
