UK: Army cadets told not to wear uniform in public amid fears of jihad attacks

Dec 14, 2014 7:53 am By Robert Spencer

UK army cadetsInstead of standing up to defend itself, Britain cowers in submission, and curtails its activities in the face of jihad threats. Instead of saying, “Be aware, be resolute, be proud of who you are and ready to defend yourself,” the British authorities tell cadets: “No uniform when travelling to and from cadet activities.”

As Britain gallops toward ruin, that is as suitable an epitaph as any. “No uniform when travelling to and from cadet activities.” I.e., don’t stand up for who you are, but scuttle around in fear and hope you don’t catch the eye of one of the protected class who hates the British military.

That is the Subjugated Isle, December 2014.

But these are just children, you will say — not full-fledged military personnel. They can’t be expected to defend themselves against jihad attacks. Very well. Then the British military should protect them. Instead of “No uniform when travelling to and from cadet activities,” why not make arrangements to protect those traveling to and from cadet activities, and thereby send the strong signal that these random jihad attacks will not be tolerated? Not feasible, you say? Maybe take a bit of the funding from “outreach to the Muslim community” activities to finance studies to determine how this could be done.

“Army cadets told to avoid wearing military uniform in public amid fears of terror attacks,” by David Collins, Mirror, December 13, 2014 (thanks to Thomas Pellow):

Children in school cadet forces have been warned not to wear their army uniform in public amid fears of a terror attack.

Pupils were also told to carry out searches of training areas and accommodation before setting up camp.

A notice published on a Facebook group told individual units to ensure with “immediate effect” that “appropriate security measures” were put into place in all detachments.

The warnings come just days after serving soldiers were told not to wear their uniform outside barracks.

It comes amid fears of a copycat attack following last year’s murder of Fusilier Lee Rigby in south-east London.

They were also told not to let strangers know that they are serving in the British Army.

Earlier this week, police were also warned not to wear their uniforms off-duty following an ‘anonymous but credible’ telephone threat.

Warning: Young army cadets have been told not to wear their military garb in public

A source said: “It is such a terrible shame that children are being told not to wear their uniforms. It is sad they can’t proudly walk the streets.”

The threat level for the armed forces was raised from “substantial” to “severe” last week, meaning a terrorist attack on military personnel is highly likely.

An MoD spokesman said the same security measures that applied to serving personnel also applied to cadet forces across the country.

In light of the revised terror threat level, a spokesman for the Middlesex and North West London Army Cadet Force issued a six-point list for managing security for children across the region.

The directives issued to more than 1,000 cadets included: “No uniform when travelling to and from cadet activities.”

Another rule told members to maintain “vigilance when travelling including at motorway service stations… hence civilian clothes when travelling”.

Others warned them to “ensure vehicles are guarded or parked in a secure area” and “carry out searches of training areas, ranges and accommodation before occupation”.

They were also told to ensure all accommodation was secure when not in use and to report any suspicious activity.

Military officials took to Twitter to warn cadets not to wear their uniform.

A spokesman for the 235 Westminster Cadet Detachment wrote: “Reminder not to travel into the unit in uniform. Bring it in a bag and change in the unit.”

Whitehall officials are understood to have noticed increased “chatter” among jihadists wanting to carry out a beheading or other high-profile attack on a serving soldier….

I suspect the real reason is because the spineless government doesn’t want to offend Muslims with the sight of the army cadets. Utterly disgusting

Mortimer, Rubbish! Robert is right. Even if it means taking precautions like being extra alert or not walking alone, military personnel and cadets should ‘stand up’ to defend themselves rather than cowering to Muslim vermin. If it means providing protection for cadets then it should be done. If Muslims like death then let them die. Train military personnel, including cadets, in the most vicious forms of unarmed combat – that does not leave a Muslim assailant with just a broken clavicle, crushed testicles and gouged!

As things now stand military personnel should also be permitted to carry a weapon. Instead Britain and much of the West cowers.

If this is not surrender to Islam in your own country, UK, what is it?

It will happen soon here too, if it is not happening already.

Giving in to Islam for no logical reason is insane. The whole world is insane now. We need divine intervention to have some sanity against ISLAM

        Dec 14, 2014 at 6:26 pm

“They are admitting jihadists are everywhere now due to bad immigration policies.”

@mortimer Where in the article does it say that UK leaders are admitting to the above?? What other leaders have said that things are bad in UK “due to bad immigration policies”?? Even if you can name these leader(s), how many such leaders are there in UK?

You (and many others) talk about deporting the Muslims…… The question worth asking is, who is going to deport them? I am not in charge of the immigration ministry, are you? Is there even a single JW’er who heads the immigration dept., or is member of UK parliament, or is PM of UK? No? So who is going to deport them??

Those who actually ARE in positions of power do not even admit that there is a problem with Islam or its followers. There is no way they are going to deport Muslims!

Bottomline: Deporting the Muslims is only a dream and it would be a miracle if those in power start doing what we dream they do. And the thing about miracles is that they rarely happen; we cannot rely on those happening!

We can only do what is in our hands and deporting Muslims is NOT in our hands! Waking the majority from their apathy and slumber is also not in our hands. I suggested a few days ago what it is that is in our hands– join Sikhism (Khalsa), so that we can have a much better chance of protecting ourselves from the apathetic and the naive. Yes, that is in our hands!

Of course as Sikhs, your teenagers will be *required* to carry some symbol on their body that identifies them as Sikhs- making them ripe targets for Muslims. But then Sikhs did not get an upper hand on Islam (in the past) out of cowardice. It was the descendants of those Sikhs who eventually ruled the Muslim-majority area, even though they were few to begin with.

What next? The Scouts or the Brownies?

  5. albert says

    Dec 14, 2014 at 10:04 am

The ideal situation would be for the police to protect the cadets, but we know here in Britain that is a pointless request as nothing will be done if the police turn up at all. These drill halls are usually in out of the way places and the cadets safety is the main thing, so unfortunately not drawing attention to themselves is the safest option for the cadets.

Zoltar says What next the Scouts or the Brownies ? Too Late Zoltar, the Brownies were forced out of one place in Bradford as far back as 2001 read about it here

There aren’t enough police. The answer is to deport Muslims and make it virtually impossible for them to get residency.

      • Know Thy Enemy says

        Dec 14, 2014 at 6:35 pm

“There aren’t enough police.” That is correct! “The answer is to deport Muslims and…”…. now wait! Who is going to deport them?? Sorry but it is not in our hands.

The answer is to join Sikhism (Khalsa)- That is in our hands!

Of course there are pros and cons to joining Khalsa. The con is that the member will lose his/her current religion (unless if that religion is of Indian origin). The pro is that the member will retain his culture, traditions, will continue to be proud of his/her history, and will retain his/her Britishness.

What must the cadets be thinking at this display of cowardice…

    • mortimer says

      Dec 14, 2014 at 2:13 pm

The PARENTS of the teenagers are thinking, “My kid will be home at 10:30pm.”

    • Know Thy Enemy says

      Dec 14, 2014 at 7:05 pm

Good point! And this is not going to be the only instance where they are taught to back down. This regular and constant dhimmi behaviour actually gets into the teens’ psychology and there is good chance that they will NOT grow up to be fierce warriors.

Contrast this with what happens when one joins Sikhism (Khalsa). Sikhs are required to publicly identify themselves (imo the most practical way is to wear a steel bracelet). The parents simply do not have the option of telling their teens not to wear such identification. The only option Sikh parents then have is to tell their teens to fight back. Hence, as Sikhs, the teens have a much higher chance that they will grow up to be fierce warriors.

Of course if some day the UK Sikh parents go against the religious requirement and start asking their teens to hide their identity, you would know that even joining Sikhism will not help save you.

Notice that there’s no mention of islam, jihad or muslims in the original article. All references to who might attack UK soldiers or to their motivations was carefully brushed out – in a muslim-rulled land non-muslims are forbidden of criticizing islam.

    • Richie says

      Dec 14, 2014 at 1:27 pm

of course! Do you want Muslims to take offense?

  8. mortimer says

    Dec 14, 2014 at 12:12 pm

Wrong on this one, Mr. Spencer.

Not a matter of cowardice at all! This is about protecting the general public from becoming collateral damage in a jihad attack. It’s responsible and denies easy targets for the jihadists who are everywhere. The government is actually recognizing that jihadists are in UK! That’s good!

Secondly, parents of teenagers don’t want their children run down by a car as Lee Rigby was. Rather than have parents withdraw their children from the cadet programme, this allows the youngsters to continue training to eventually join the reserves or regulars.

IT IS NOT COWARDICE and ignorant of the facts to say so.

    • Richie says

      Dec 14, 2014 at 1:30 pm

You are way off. It is an example of total cowardice on the part of the government.

      • cheekturner says

        Dec 14, 2014 at 2:06 pm

I disagree. The cowardice is to be directed at the apathetic general public who won’t see the real danger that Islam is, except and until it hits them personally. We all have a voice and together we can influence our political establishment and outlaw this hideous death cult at the same time making our peers and colleagues aware of the danger and take the insult or being deemed racist or islamophobic for what it is….propogandist bullshit… and keep hammering home the point. Eventually they wake up especially when asked what the future holds for their children and grandchildren. The government is led not by our politicians but by puppet-masters in the EU whose only interest is self advancement and keeping their Arab paymasters happy.
        C’mon Mirren where are you?
Oh and Christy………….go forth and multiply in short jerky movements.

        • mortimer says

          Dec 14, 2014 at 2:26 pm

Correct. The problem is politicians like Joe Biden who won’t admit most Muslims secretly support the jihadists…AS IS THEIR DUTY. The enemy is within the gate looking for easy targets.

    The subjugated isle?
More like the USA the subjugated toothless tiger bows to its new master.

Sky news report that all US servicemen in Europe have been told not to wear their uniforms off base.
Is this because of the cowardice of the US government, the dhimmitude of the US government accepting that Islam now rules them, the cowardice of US troops, that US troops are so poorly trained that our cadets are their equals? Or is it a combination of all four?
Or do you think their might be specific intelligence that people in uniform are to be targeted?
I guess you’re still sore we wouldn’t grant you a visa eh Robert.

    • cheekturner says

      Dec 14, 2014 at 2:59 pm

And would you, Roger, deny Robert a visa given the authority?. JW is not the place to ridicule our brothers in the counter-jihad movement neither to bad-mouth US service personnel, especially considering the perilous situation within our own shores. Obama is a skunk, granted, but our own leaders leave so much to be desired. You miss the point in accusing the armed forces of being cowards.
Hasan and his entourage may have vacated Alamut and ceased the assassination program in it’s purest form but rest assured the ideal behind the blade reaches into the innermost government departments both here and the USA (and mainland Europe). Same method ….different weapon. Everything is True..Everything is Permitted. And the blind continue to lead the blind…..sadly.

  12. Roger says

    Dec 14, 2014 at 4:14 pm

Ah cheekturner still vacantly missing the point.
Spencer has constantly belittled the UK since his visa was denied and this article once again demonstrates it.
He scathingly attacks the UK for trying to keep our children safe from what can only be described as madmen.
Meanwhile he makes no mention of his own country doing the same, not for cadets, 13 year old children. But for his own armed forces whom are constantly touted as the bravest and the best.
Maybe I should be charitable and assume that Americans do not realise our cadets age fro 13 to 18 as a rule. Especially when other posters talk foolishly about giving them guns to carry in the street. An act illegal in the majority of US states.
I do not call their armed forces cowards, quite clearly for anyone who can read, I ask is it for any, or all, of those reasons or because clear intelligence shows there to be a significant threat.
Our own leaders do not leave much to be desired. They are complete and utter jellyfish.

Point taken on “cowards” Roger. Maybe for the less astute like me a more considered phraseology would have eliminated such a glaring vacancy on my part.
As regards Robert calling out the UK I say more power to his elbow as we all need to have our attention firmly on the menace. As to his own armed forces being constantly touted as the bravest and the best I sense a lack of critical thinking in this regard, and doubtless your charity concerning your assumptions would be regarded as pompous by any US citizen.

  15. Crixus says

    Dec 15, 2014 at 9:33 am

I don’t understand why Robert has a problem with this. In the UK a cadet is a child, they are aged between 12 and 18. Are you seriously suggesting we put our kids in the firing line? How is refusing to do so cowardice?

Let’s get one thing straight here, those who are against Jihad do not gain anything from having a pop at each other. I see no difference in the Dhimmitude demonstrated by the US Government as that demonstrated by the UK Government but Robert continues to refer to his countries issues as US government problems whereas he seems to want to tar all of us in the UK with the same brush.

This news could have been better used if it was to highlight just how the tentacles of islamic violence have reached to our own front doors.

another point – just because we speak the same language doesn’t mean we have a shared culture. There is no culture of civilian firearm ownership in the UK beyond agricultural or sporting use and there hasn’t been for over 100 years. This doesn’t mean we don’t know how to use them, I could strip and reassemble a light machine gun in 2 minutes blindfolded when I was 14 and still can these days. I also know how to work and use a modern automatic rifle, grenade and handgun as well as how to sight and work artillery. I was taught all this in the cadets as a youth.

By far in the way the larges challenge we have in the UK at the moment is a government, indeed a political system that is out of touch with the majority views on, among other things, the islamification of the UK and the undemocratic attack on our freedom of speech.

There is a general election in May and you will see a substantial desertion of the mainstream political parties who have for too long now ignored the will of the people.

On a more positive note it appears that the courts at least (these are independent of the government in the UK) are taking jihad seriously. 12 years for going to Syria, let alone fighting and 6 years for posting terrorist messages on social media. These are meaty sentences for first time offenders in the UK.

I have no problem with our uniformed troops not making themselves a target for lone wolves etc. The jihadis use taqiya and deception with us, we should simply turn the tactic round on them.

Publically agree with the dhimmis and their masters but privately and with every sinew in your body frustrate and confound their plans.

2 can play at that game!

Crixus: You’re missing the point here. We (both US and GB) have lost sight of the big picture, i.e., the dhimmitude we every day practice since 9/11.

The fact that we HAVE a thought that ‘lone wolves’ (aka Islam) who hate the very foundations of Western civilization (Christianity, Judaism, patriotism, minority rights, equality of women) have to be feared? This shows how far gone we are.

Where does this nonsense about the British stem from? Of course the PC thing is with us. It is everywhere. But I do not see the US taking any stand worth the name in all of this. And IF Mr Spencer is using his own misfortune to label our people cowards – which I really hope he isn’t – then, frankly, he should grow up. It’s warping his judgement and sending the wrong image of the blog he (thankfully) started.

Of course, you are right. It’s no more than the US is telling its people all over Europe – and what was it in Australia…evacuating the consulate?

They need to start putting fear of committing such terrorists activities into the minds of these Islamics. Their politeness and giving in to them has only made them feel powerful and when they feel powerful they attack and take advantage. It is just like dealing with bullies. If you appear weak and no one stands up for the victims, the bully feels powerful and continues to attack victims. When someone stands up to them and fights back or stands up for the victims, the bully (being at heart a true coward) will back down and stop.
They need to have strategy that shows they are strong and will give away their laws, freedoms and rights.
