Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

UN calls on Israel to renounce nuclear weapons

Dec 2, 2014 6:25 pm By Robert Spencer

KhameneinukesIf Israel has nuclear weapons, it hasn’t used them. Nor will it use them unless attacked. Iranian officials, meanwhile, have repeatedly crowed that Israel will soon be destroyed, and has defied the UN repeatedly regarding its nuclear program. So naturally, the OIC-controlled UN condemns Israel.

The UN should be shut down, or at least moved off U.S. soil and cut off from all U.S. funding, as long as it is a tool of the global jihad.

“UN resolution: Israel must renounce nuclear arms,” by Alexandra Olson, Associated Press, December 2, 2014 (thanks to John):

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The U.N. General Assembly overwhelmingly approved an Arab-backed resolution Tuesday calling on Israel to renounce possession of nuclear weapons and put its nuclear facilities under international oversight.

The resolution, adopted in a 161-5 vote, noted that Israel is the only Middle Eastern country that is not party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. It called on Israel to “accede to that treaty without further delay, not to develop, produce test or otherwise acquire nuclear weapons, to renounce possession of nuclear weapons” and put its nuclear facilities under the safeguard of the U.N.’s International Atomic Energy Agency.

The United States and Canada were among four countries that joined Israel in opposing the measure, while 18 countries abstained.

Israel is widely considered to possess nuclear arms but declines to confirm it.

The resolution, introduced by Egypt, echoed a similar Arab-backed effort that failed to gain approval in September at the Vienna-based IAEA. At the time, Israel criticized Arab countries for undermining dialogue by repeatedly singling out the Jewish state in international arenas. Israel’s U.N. Mission did not immediately return a request for comment Tuesday.

The U.N. resolution, titled “The risk of nuclear proliferation in the Middle East,” pushed for the establishment of a nuclear weapons-free zone in the Middle East and lamented that U.S.-backed efforts to convene talks were abandoned in 2012….

Yes, move the UN to somewhere more appropriate, like Teheran. It’s a shame that such a beautiful building in NY goes to waste, when it could be turned into residences and businesses.

I”d suggest to take a closer look at the samson option and what Vanunun said and why he was imprisoned for or the blackmail by Golda Meir.
Shimon Peres has admitted that israels weapons are used for compellent purposes

Israel Shahak wrote in 1997: “Israel clearly prepares itself to seek overtly a hegemony over the entire Middle East…without hesitating to use for the purpose all means available, including nuclear ones.”

Zeev Schiff opined in 1998 that “Off-the-cuff Israeli nuclear threats have become a problem.”

David Hirst noted that “The threatening of wild, irrational violence, in response to political pressure, has been an Israeli impulse from the very earliest days”

Considering atom bombs there is no room for romantics and sugarcoating(just do some research about USS Liberty and Lavon Affair and you may know why)

Oh, good grief—zebo is pretending that civilized Israel presents a nuclear threat to her ravening Mohammedan ‘neighbors’—what utter rot.

The fact is that Israel has been amazingly measured and restrained in response to Muslim violence against her—perhaps too much so. She certainly is no aggressor.

We must get out of the UN and all European countries must get out of the EU.
These global entities are as compromised and corrupt as our PC leaders in the West. They’ve sold us out for a few petro-dollars.
They are guilty of high treason, so are those who are preventing us from drilling and from developping new technologies.

“They are guilty of high treason, so are those who are preventing us from drilling and from developping new technologies.”

We have a new technology. It’s called “fracking” and it’s providing oil in such abundance from Western sources that the price of oil has skydived, and the Middle Eastern oil sultanates are scrambling to maintain their swollen budgets of jihad-support and solid-silver cars.

We also have to proposed pipeline, which will cut off a major market for MIddle Eastern oil, and make it possible for Western/Canadian oil to supply US and, indirectly, European markets.

Everyone who wants the government to throw money at some mythical magic solution need to look at the free market.

The threat of the Islamic countries is not it’s oil reserves. It’s the pools of cash lying around, and most importantly, it’s the unwillingness of the Western countries to simply take sensible, easy steps to protect themselves: stop Muslim immigration, and make it a felony for any politician or political interest group to accept foreign donations. Same for educational institutions. Any educational institution accepting public money from the government should not be allowed to accept any foreign grants or support.

That is absolutely bizarre :0/ What is wrong with the UN? I find small comfort that at least the USA and Canada voted against the measure with Israel… I think any government without an Islamist agenda can plainly see that Israel doing such a thing would be suicide. Thankfully Israel is smart, stable, and capable. I hope the US continues to stand behind Israel.

That is absolutely bizarre :0/ What is wrong with the UN?
      ……………………..

Lesley, what is wrong with the UN is primarily the OIC—the Alliance of Islamic Cooperation—57 countries strong, and the unfree nations that vote with them in a bloc against the free countries of the West.

If you look at UN history, there have been more resolutions against Israel then any other nation. In 2013, there were 21 resolutions against tiny, democratic Israel—and just four against any other country. Though not quite as egregious, the US is targeted fairly frequently, as well.

Whatever the original intentions, it has long been clear that the UN no longer serves any ethical purpose.

      • Daniel Romischer says

        Dec 3, 2014 at 12:13 am

Totally agreed. The UN needs a reformation. a) no country that doesn’t have a stable secular democracy should get a vote (they can be observer states or something). b) no country should get a vote that doesn’t have a descent track record of justice against human rights abuses c) no country should get a vote that doesn’t have freedom of speech and freedom of press (*with some provisions there).

I don’t know what went wrong, but by lowering the member admission status into the UN we now are catering to the lowest levels cultures. Kind of like no child left behind i guess. by lowering the bar so low, what else can you expect.

If a country can’t join the EU (which has very stringent requirements), why should they be able to vote in the UN? Why does everything pass as a country with voting rights there?

we do need a real UN constitution.

Or create a new organization. United Civilized Nations. The UCN. Let the UN be a PR platform that serves some purposes, but create a new organization from scratch with higher aspirations.

How are we going to conquer the stars like in star trek, with a UN like this? seriously.
Shouldn’t they be discussing how to fund green technology, make the world saver, colonize mars?

The 21st century certainly isn’t what it said it would be in the movies.

          Dec 3, 2014 at 10:20 am

Ah, Daniel. I don’t think gravenimage was calling for reform of the UN. I think she was saying it serves no purpose, which is quite different.

In point of fact, you have to ask, is there any purpose to have a permanent, supra-national deliberative body at all? Permanent bureaucracies are subject to getting captured by special interests or by bureaucratic ladder-climbers whose only commitment is to their own advancement.

There is much to be said for having alliances of convenience, like the UN during World War II or NATO during the cold war. Even NATO is beginning to fray at the edges, with Turkey refusing access for NATO missions into ISIS. Such alliances should be limited to countries with a specific interest in their purpose. They should have no broad legislative powers, and should be subject to dissolution when their goal is no longer relevant.

The benefit of the UN is that it provides an easy platform for negotiations and contacts between nations. But, for this convenience, the free countries of the world are putting their freedom and independence at risk. The UN provides an easy platform for socialists, Communists, and Islamists to build domains of power and wealth through bureaucratic longevity.

The UN is a festering threat to freedom, liberty, and human rights.

    • gravenimage says

      Dec 2, 2014 at 11:57 pm

Eva, this would just give Jihadists with diplomatic immunity direct access to Israel. This would not help things.

As it is, the UN being headquartered in the United States and with a large secondary office in Switzerland—both civilized nations—has not helped, either.

The problem is that few of the world’s nations are civilized countries, and all too many of them are Muslim-majority. They can outvote the civilized nations every time. Throw in creeping antisemitism in the EU, as well, and none of this barbarism should come as a surprise.

Egypt is the closest thing to an ally that Israel has in the region. Egypt has been cooperating with Israel to bottle up Hamas in the Gaza strip and to patrol the Sinai. Also, predominantly Sunni Egypt is almost as threatened by a nuclear Shiite Iran, or a non-nuclear Iran, as Saudi Arabia is. So, why would Egypt propose a resolution to the UN stripping Israel of it’s nuclear defenses? Particularly when the resolution has no chance whatsoever of being acted upon? Particularly when the Egyptians are taking small steps to back away from Islam?

To be truthful, I don’t have any idea of the reality behind this resolution. I wish I did. I have a pretty good idea that the Obama administration would love to have supported the resolution, but that would have mean jettisoning its Jewish supporters in the next presidential election. I think a few of the European governments, particularly in East Europe, would have liked to vote against the resolution.

It’s quite obvious that the UN is a huge threat to freedom and liberty. It is a political body, composed of a majority of members who do not value freedom, liberty, or individual rights. To the extent that the UN is influential, to that extend are our rights and safety directly threatened. This resolution is not a defining moment, but one of many. A toothless body shows the damage it would do if it only could.

      Dec 3, 2014 at 3:54 am

Yes, the UN is dominated by both the 3rd World and the Islamic World. Fortunately any serious issues can be vetoed by any of the permanent members of the Security Council, namely Russia, China, France, the UK or USA. But the devil is in the details. The UN passes hundreds of resolutions every year, most of these are by the 3rd world and for the benefit of the 3rd World. (Or Islamic World) Most Western nations seem to sign up to these resolutions with any consultation to the people or parliament. Needles to say most of these resolutions are mainly anti-white, anti-male, anti-Christian, anti West and always ANTI-ISRAEL. (They used to have White South Africa to continually bash.) These resolutions certainly take away some of the sovereignty of Western Nations particularly in immigration and human rights laws. (Laws that the 3rd world mainly ignore anyway)

Here in Australia we probably have the worlds most generous support and encouragement for our indigenous population yet the UN regularly tells us off because these stone age hunter gatherers chose to stay this way and certainly are unable to adapt to the 21st century. The UN certainly needs to be re-invented and just stay with its original charter of revolving conflicts, not political or social engineering.

Wow. The nadir of the Islamic supremacist controlled UN has been reached — well, so far.

Indeed, how long can the fiasco of the UN go on at this point? Is it not time to move it to Qatar of even Saudi Arabia who has bought it almost completely? And, ironically, those moslem countries contribute next to ZILCH for the humanitarian work the UN is largely supposed to be about! Why do free countries like the US and Canada even belong to this joke any more? Incredible and tragic.

This is an astonishing outcome, even for the UN. It is just smokescreen to distract attention from Iran’s burgeoning nuclear weapons program. Giving Iran another half a year to build its program, while it openly admits Israel’s destruction is it’s top prioriy, is insane. The ONLY way Iran could destroy Israel is with nuclear weapons, since the entire middle east could not do it with conventional weapons. Most borderline smart people will conclude Iran plans on nuking Israel. I am confident PM Netanyahu will be amused by this UN act of cowardice (and stupidity).

On this matter I am adamant.

    i) the UN needs to be disbanded and all monies split between human needs in third world to feed, arm against terrorism, build infrastructure, education, health & welfare, Sewerage Electricity and other essential needs of third world. Not to be handle by any corrupt third world leader but a body which is objective.

ii) Many may not be aware but Israel is in fact the only sane nation in the middle east understanding the responsibility accredited to nuclear power. Small Arab states i.e. UAE, Saudi, Qatar, and other larger me nations cannot be trusted with nuclear weapons and to my knowledge at present do not have any. Should Iran strike a small Arab nation as Hussein did who will these nations call on (Obama will do nothing) to defend them. Already Saudi has entered into talks with Israel and you can guess what this is about. Iran and Saudi are currently in an Oil price skirmish. At least Kurds & Iraq today have entered into dialogue re. Oil production.

iii) Iran with nuclear warheads run by religious maniacs will NOT hesitate to blow up the whole world. Iran is absolutely determined to dominate world politics and subjugate all to Sharia. Her only real enemy is Russia. Russia in its wisdom is sending in a Trojan Horse (offering to build nuclear power stations) Why does Iran need power stations with so much OIL? What is Putin’s real strategy and don’t leave China out of the equation?

When Iran finally develops a nuclear capability, they will justify its need as a deterrent against Zionist nukes. And inbred Western liberals, media and academia will go with it.

But the threat is not just Iran. Once they have the nuke – so will Saudi and other tinpot Gulf states, and the more there are within the Muslim world the more likely they will be used.

Remember: Nuclear weapons are no deterrent against people that want and challenge you to use them, especially when you are as feeble and easily intimidated as the West.
