Meanwhile, predictably, no Muslims have been victimized by raging anti-Muslim vigilantes. The specter of such attacks is merely a tool that the mainstream media and Islamic supremacists use to intimidate people into think that jihad terror cannot be resisted, because if it is, innocent Muslims will suffer.

University lecturer Rachael Jacobs had originally posted a status on Facebook, explaining how she offered to protect a woman who felt uncomfortable wearing her hijab.
According to her story, Ms Jacobs had seen the woman beginning to remove her scarf, and ran after her, saying “Put it back on. I’ll walk with you.”
The exchange took place on a Brisbane train, while the Sydney siege was taking place in Sydney’s Martin Place.

However Rachael Jacobs has admitted that she “editorialised’’ parts of her story.
“Confession time. In my Facebook status, I editorialised. She wasn’t sitting next to me. She was a bit away, towards the other end of the carriage,” she wrote.
Detailing her thought process, Ms Jacobs now says she wondered if she even needed to help.“She might not even be Muslim or she could have just been warm!,” she wrote.
The hashtag continues to divide people on social media, with some lauding it as Australia’s way of combating Islamophobia.
Others say it detracts from the real tragedy of two people being murdered at Martin Place.

No checking, just an email account. I wonder if twitter is the same. And who verifies the numbers?

This kind of thing really gets my goat. This is not the place for me to complain about “creative non-fiction” of all sorts, BUT here is an example of it in action. Obscuring the facts and watering down what really is happening. For such people, I suspect that being Muslim is how they were made aware that we have a responsibility to someone much bigger than ourselves and that somebody has given us certain rules about the decent treatment of others rather than a constant struggle to exalt oneself over ones neighbor. I’m sorry, but I’m not buying this line anymore. I gave a lot of leeway for a lot of years thinking, maybe in Western countries where the culture is mostly secular, Muslims follow a watered down version of Islam. Maybe it’s very much just a cultural thing with the way they dress, the foods they eat/can’t eat and perhaps celebrating some holidays in the way that secular people celebrate Christmas – just with food and family and fun and nothing really spiritual about it.
But honestly this many years after 9/11? And after ALL the attacks and horrors we’ve seen on a regular basis since that day, up to this very day? Also, if you claim to be a follower of a religion that is based in a supposedly holy text, how is it that you’ve never bothered to read those texts? It’s not like the Koran is that long of a book. And it’s not like you have to get into the middle of it before you find anything objectionable. It’s literally almost every page of hatred from Allah! (I myself was STUNNED when I first read it! Its been my experience that muslim women are pretty defiant when harassed or harassment is returned in kind. Is anyone here really surprised by this? Not only are there Muslims concocting fake “hate crimes”, but so are dhimmi tools.
I thought that even as an anecdote this story was quite suspect, because there wasn’t even an “Islamophobe” whose actions might have led to the woman’s removing her Hijab—we were just supposed to take it on “faith” that that was the cause.
As a poster notes above, many Muslimahs remove their headscarves when they are safely away from home because they *don’t want to wear them*. This is especially common with high school girls, but I’m sure you find older women doing the same.
And then, there are non-Muslim women who, especially in cold weather, occasionally wear head scarves that might be confused with Hijabs.
And that’s assuming that there is any truth to this story whatsoever, and that it wasn’t just made up out of whole cloth (pun intended).

And while the two women behind the #illridewithyou campaign are extremely sketchy, we have to remember that thousands of well-meaning and presumably relatively normal people in the West have been retweeting this stupidity, as well as getting sentimental lumps in their throats from reading media stories about this dhimmitude.
