Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Brooklyn imam: “Let us admit…that we, the Muslims, are time bombs…The majority of us Muslims hate the Christians”

Jan 30, 2015 5:32 pm By Robert Spencer

The imam Tareq Yousef Al-Masri apparently believes that jihad terrorists have hijacked the Religion of Peace, as he says: “Anyone claiming that we are not allowed to wish the Christians happy holidays has prepared the killers in France, Boston, in Iraq, in Syria, in Egypt…These people constitute the fertile ground for terrorism, which they present as the religion of Allah, conveyed to the Prophet Muhammad, while Islam has nothing to do with them.” Nonetheless, he has gone much farther than virtually all other Muslim authorities and spokesmen in admitting that all too many Muslims are taught to hate Christians (he could have added “and other non-Muslims”), and in saying, “I am ashamed of the rotten and despicable conduct of the Muslims,” when Islamic supremacists never, ever say a negative word about the activities of any Muslim, but instead blame the Infidels for every jihad attack. Will he now be denounced as an “Islamophobe” and a tool of the Zionists?

“Brooklyn Imam Tareq Yousef Al-Masri on Paris Terror Attacks: We Muslims Must Admit That We Are Time Bombs and We Hate Christians,” MEMRI, January 9, 2015:

On a Friday sermon in the Brooklyn Oulel-Albab Mosque, Imam Tareq Yousef Al-Masri spoke about the terror attacks in Paris, and said that Muslims are like time bombs. He further said that Muslims should admit that they hate Christians. Imam Al-Masri explained that Wahhabi ideology is responsible for instilling hatred in the hearts of Muslims, which leads to terrorism worldwide.

Following are excerpts from the sermon, which was posted on the Internet on January 9, 2015.

Tareq Yousef Al-Masri: The crisis in France casts its shadow upon us. The two brothers who stormed the offices of the [Charlie Hebdo] magazine, which published offensive cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad, and affronted the Muslims, just as it affronts others… This is a satirical magazine, which is well known as such. This magazine knows no limits when it comes to freedom of speech.

It is peculiar that two years ago, during the Boston [marathon], it was two brothers, of Chechen origin, and now, we have two brothers – of Algerian origin, I think. What’s the story with brothers? What’s the story with that all-destructive ideology?

Let us admit, without lying to ourselves, that we, the Muslims, are time bombs. When I say “we, the Muslims,” I do not mean every single Muslim, but Muslims of the religious sector are time bombs. When a sinner repents, the first thing he does is make a bomb. He blows it up and kills people.

We must admit this. We cannot become immune if we do not admit this. If you have cancer, it won’t help you if I tell you that you have the flu. I must tell you that you clearly have cancer. When someone has cancer, they run a series of tests, in order to identify the cause of this cancer. They don’t just say that this cancer is an act of God. Everything comes from Allah, but this should not prevent us from studying the underlying reasons for this cancer.

Let us admit something else. The majority of us Muslims hate the Christians – true or false? Yes, that is the truth.

[…]

When you see how many people oppose [congratulating Christians on their holidays], you have to admit that deep-rooted hatred dwells in the hearts of Muslims. Someone might say to me: “Do you think they love us? They hate us too.” What do you care what others do? Just because there are thieves, would you become a thief too? In that case, all people would be thieves.

[…]

Who instilled so much hatred in these generations? It is the ideology present in the books – the ideology of Ibn Taymiyyah, of Ibn Al-Qayyam, of Al-Nawawi. These are the pillars of this ideology. In modern times, we have Ibn Baz, Ibn Al-Uthaymeen, Al-Huweini, Muhammad Hassan… These people are responsible for instilling hatred in human beings.

[…]

Christians sometimes cite the Quranic verses used by these thugs, those [Salafi] scholars who have corrupted the nation of Muhammad, and who have buried our good reputation in the ground. I’ve just mentioned their names – from the past and from the present.

[…]

When we tell people that it is forbidden to wish a Christian “Merry Christmas,” does this not lay the foundation for terrorism? This is how you condition yourself to feel hatred.

[…]

The truth of the Quran has been distorted by scholars who corrupt the youth. Those killers [in France] are the victims of Ibn Taymiyyah, of Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, of Ibn Al-Qayyim, of Al-Nawawi, of Al-Huweini, of Ibn Baz, of Ibn Al-Uthaymeen, of Muhammad Hassan. By Allah, these are wretched victims, who believe that they are worshipping Allah by killing people.

[…]

[These scholars consider] any Quranic verse of moral value to have been abrogated. They consider any verse that calls to treat people with kindness to have been abrogated. All that remains valid is: Kill! Slaughter! Is that the only thing that God tells us?!

[…]

They have made the Muslims hate everyone – the Christians, the Jews, the atheists, and all human beings. Why did God say: “We made peoples and tribes that you may know one another”? How can you get to know other people if you hate them?! How can you maintain a relationship with them? Oh you who believe that truth is on your side, show me what “merchandise” you are selling. It amounts to nothing but killing and accusing others of heresy and polytheism. It is all bad. What have you contributed to human civilization? Nothing! Then you try to claim that you are the best among people, and that you will go to Paradise while everybody else will go to the Hellfire.

I am ashamed of the rotten and despicable conduct of the Muslims. Today, the Muslims stand up in mosques and wash their hands of these two brothers – or of the two brothers from the Boston bombings – but is this enough? No. Oh servants of Allah, do not hate people! Love people. Get closer to them. Do you want to invite other people to join Islam, while you hate them and curse them day and night?!

[…]

In my fatwas, I said that we should wish the Christians happy holidays. I wrote that Allah said: “And speak to the people good.” Would you believe that some Wahhabi on Facebook said that this verse referred to the Jews and the Israelites?! In other words, they are supposed “to speak to people good,” while we are supposed to treat people like trash…

[…]

Anyone claiming that we are not allowed to wish the Christians happy holidays has prepared the killers in France, Boston, in Iraq, in Syria, in Egypt…These people constitute the fertile ground for terrorism, which they present as the religion of Allah, conveyed to the Prophet Muhammad, while Islam has nothing to do with them.

HIs extended semi-public remarks, and specifically “naming names” in a cross section of authorities, I think that he IS genuinely sickened at relentless slaughter by Muslims — which has sped up with such ferocity that it is impossible to ignore.

      J3T,

Muslims come in three flavors: Meccan, Medinan and Golden Rule. The Meccan Muslims are acting nice while they look for a big stick. The Medinan Muslims are like Anjem Choudary. The Golden Rule Muslims are actually Kafir Muslims. They act so much like Kafirs, that they are barely Muslims. They have put jihad aside and have convinced themselves it isn’t a valid part of Islam.

Good points. The most peaceful Muslims are the least devout, while the most violent Muslims are the most devout, or fundamentalist. I disagree with this Imam that the teachings of these men have turned Muslims violent. Actually it is the teachings of Muhammad and the life he led that lead Muslims to violence.

I appreciate the imams directness, but I have a lot of reservations relating to scriptural literalism. I’m not convinced that IS is something other than orthodox in many of its most despicable actions. People often say, well, the Old Testament has many, if not more, violent verses. I agree. However, for whatever reasons they are not generally (if every, for many of them) followed any more. I think those most often referred to as “terrorist” or “extremist” in their punishments are enacting scriptural procedures which “moderates” refuse/ignore. Obama, Cameron, and others, I would think, must realize this in private. However, just like a person may know their brother is behaving badly but get rabidly defensive if a non-family member criticizes his brother’s devious behavior, they seem to refrain from stating the obvious. This would leave it to the Muslims to criticize the despicable behavior of other Muslims. However, the West can’t stand idly by and wait for this to happen because of the severity of the threat.

The problem i sno thte depicable behavior of other muslims, but of the false pophet himself whose behavior is absolutely despicable. Now Mahommad is consdiered the “perfect model of human conduct” and the Qurán specifically orders them to kill kafirs.
What can they do to get around this and modernize the religion, unlink it from the totalitarian political ideology. Besides all that, the offcial Islamic narrative is falling apart under historical scrutiny, as Robert has shown in his “Did Mahommad exist?”. Those who want to reform it are stuck in a hole.
As for the Old Testament, it is totally different and it has been subjected to historical/critical analysis as well as being interpreted in the cultural context of its time. Also, Christianity totally reinterprets the Old Testament in the light of Christ. This enterprise is clearly evident in St. Paul (see Romans 9-11 among a host of other passages). Christianity dumpled the levitical dietary laws and changed sabbath observance to Sunday.

As he said, Muslims are not good or bad, but once they follow the acts of their prophet, then necessarily they are prone to commit violence and discrimination against unbelievers because that is what is told in the Quran and the Hadith. It is sad but true.

He is a brave Imam but he still doesn’t go far enough in saying that the ones who commit these horrible acts get their inspiration from their (un)holy book. I doubt that this type of sermon could ever take place in a Muslim country. For example, in Iran, there was a newspaper who sided with Charlie Hebdo, and the authorities shut it down.

I’m very impressed with this imam’s speech. Surprising and refreshing to hear some honesty about Islam from a Muslim leader. I agree, this is a good message and a brave one, and it seems from the heart. We should also not hate muslims! If we want the world to be a better place, we cannot afford to hate. But together with this imam, we despise the cruel and outrageous (can’t even find the right words) actions of quite a large number of muslims (millions by now) . Indeed, what is the attraction of a message that says” slaughter and kill others and kill yourself as well”. That is a wrong picture of Gods plan for humanity.

Again, brave message, for the parts that were shown in the video.

Muslims Are Working To Control All Of Eastern Europe, To Restore A One World Islamic Empire
    ——————————————————————————————————————-

The real reason for the riots in Kosovo is not secular, but purely religious. When you look closely at the footage of the riots you see a Muslim carrying an Islamic green flag.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMehZ1gLQ3M#t=495

While the media is making the current riots and protests in Kosovo as just a secular nationalist cause, once we look below the surface, what we find is that these upheavals and revolts are of the same nature as the revolutions in Syria and Egypt.

Make no mistake about it: the current upheavals that have been happening are not peaceful protests, they are part of a wider jihadist movement, that want to create an Islamic state in the Balkans. The media has been currently silent about this current situation, just as they were silent about the Islamic connections of the Egyptian and Syrian revolutions when they first began.

Both ISIS and Turkey are working with Albanian Muslims in Kosovo, capitalising on jihadists’ sentiments; to establish an Islamic state in the Balkans, and ultimately in all of Eastern Europe. Turkey is doing this with the ultimate intention of eventually controlling the Balkans in its efforts to revive the Ottoman Empire.

The biggest obstacle to forming an Islamic State in the Balkans is Serbia, Greece and the other Christian nations in the region. These have to be Islamized before an Islamic State can successfully be established.

If Turkey wants to dominate the Balkans, it is going to have to inculcate its power over Serbia and Greece; this is why Russia is so important because it will prevent this from happening.

We put the Serbs down instead of putting and end to the Jihad. Next time will be exponentially worse. I think our best efforts to avoid this failed, which is why the Imam is frothing athe mouth, he knows too.

If the American government takes the wrong side this time, you can bet your bottom dollar there will be American militia on the side of the Serbs shooting at NATO troops. This is big.

I think the sermon would have been more significant if it was in the Middle East!!

There was a piece in the Jewish press – that said Muslims should search for more amicable verses.

But this Imam is up against a tidal wave – because if you listen to Arabic speaking TV from the Middle East – largely you hear precisely the opposite message.

He is right to point out the folly in Islamic thought – if you are being immersed in hate, hate, hate for all others – then this is what you will project onto others – leaving everyone wondering where Muslims are coming from. The vast majority of Muslims are completely delusional – such that they don’t even realize that it is only they who are making war on everyone else. Let’s start with Southern Thailand, Philippines, Russian Caucasus, Africa, Asia, the Middle East… as evidence that Islam and Islam alone is to blame.

And unfortunately the term ‘Islamophobia’ for Muslims is another barrier to reality. Where there is no acknowledgement of the hatred Muslims are taught about others. It offers a cocoon – they can continue to express the hatred, they can continue trying to dismantle western society – with efforts to abolish freedoms [establish theocracies] – but be completely protected – in that any criticism in return would be labeled ‘Islamopbobia’.

    ::

What matters is not that the Koran and other Islamic text have all this aberrant stuff in it – it is how Muslims decide to behave today. And this we need to hold them to.

This imam is doing exactly what al-Sisi the president of Egypt has been asking all Muslim scholars to do. I applaud him.
The vast majority of Muslims think and act exactly this way: they reject violence and they want to live in peace.
In order to do so, they conform their beliefs to the Meccan verses (i.e. the peaceful verses of the Qur’an.) They reject the Medina verses (the violent ones.)
Today, most if not all the imams of Egypt are adapting this kind of rhetoric.
In the short run, such sermons will help more and more Muslims reject violence, which is good.
In the long run, and since Islam cannot survive without violence, the whole house of Islam is going to fall apart, which is better.
We should thank the Egyptian people for this radical change. We should thank al-Sisi for his stern directives which could cost him his life. We should also thank all the Egyptian MSM for promulgating the Christian Golden Rule (even if they call it the Muslim Golden Rule.)

The trouble is the jihadis invariably appear to have a stronger theological case. For instance, the imam says this:

‘In my fatwas, I said that we should wish the Christians happy holidays. I wrote that Allah said: “And speak to the people good.”’

He must be referring to the following verses:

17:53, 54 And tell my servants that they should speak in a most kindly manner (unto those who do not share their beliefs). Verily, Satan is always ready to stir up discord between men; for verily; Satan is mans foe …. Hence, We have not sent you (Unto men O Prophet) with power to determine their Faith.”

but when we dig around a bit we find something other than the way the imam is using it. The following is taken from the post about a student discussion board here:

    https://www.facebook.com/pages/Liberals-Against-Islam/1520132154919748

You should always check the different translations with a site like this:

    http://www.islamawakened.com/quran/17/53/default.htm

It provides a literal word by word version then 50 other translations, some well known some obscure.

The literal version of 17:53 says:

“And say to My slaves (to) say that which (is) best. Indeed, the Shaitaan sows discord between them. Indeed, the Shaitaan is to the man an enemy clear.”

It does not say to whom Muslims should speak well. In our view it implies other Muslims since it is between them that Satan is trying to sow discord but for the sake of argument let us call it neutral. The great majority of the translations follow this line but two (Shabir Ahmed and Rashad Khalifa) explicitly have the Muslims speaking to each other and two (Muhammad Asad and George Sale) explicitly have them speaking to non-Muslims.

So you have to go against odds of 48 to 2 to if you want a version which gives the impression of tolerance towards non-Muslims.

Well, I for one have never had doubt in my heart that there are millions of good decent trustworthy and kind muslims among the 1,300 million muslims on Earth today. But even 100 million good muslims is too few, and hardly any are willing to speak out as openly and frank as this NY Imam. I feel his pain and I love him for his human strength and conviction. If we had a 100 million muslims like him we would no longer have major problems and Earth may be able to become a paradise again.

We need more Muslims to speak out like this person did. Maybe then we can change the hate to love.
I am willing to forgive and move forward. My God says I should do that.

The mainstream liberal media doesn’t really have much interest in stories like this–just like they don’t have much interest in Irshad Manji. If they were to highlight Muslims that were actually making statements that at least show some honest reflection on Islam, then it would illuminate the fact that these Muslims are a tiny minority within Islam, whose positions aren’t well-grounded within the historical exegesis of Islamic texts, and who have almost no following globally among Muslims. It would require the media to admit that the bulk of Muslims DON’T feel this way—and they can’t do that. The mainstream media has chosen to side with mainstream Islam–and that means they’ve sided against any true liberal Muslims.

” If you have cancer, it won’t help you if I tell you that you have the flu. I must tell you that you clearly have cancer. When someone has cancer, they run a series of tests, in order to identify the cause of this cancer.”

Imam al-Masri is correct. With exquisitely searing irony, however, he is not taking his own advice — for Muhammad is the cancer; but Imam al-Masri cannot, will not admit this (unless he cuts the cord of his cultic addiction and definitively apostasizes) .

And what I say above is only the most generous interpretation of an al-Masri. Again, with acute irony, precisely because of what he says, we cannot trust that he is not playing the stealth jihad role of the “Better Cop” (a rebooted updated version of the “Good Cop” — rebooted and updated precisely because it is worried that too many Kuffar are wising up to Islamic taqiyya, and so a deeper deception is required, particularly in order to infiltrate and fool the growing nucleus of a Counter-Jihad…).

That said, however, an al-Masri can be useful to help prod out of their dumb slumbers the pleasantly napping Useful Idiots who abound throughout the West, continuing to catch up on their Fukuyamishly bourgeois neo-Yuppie beauty sleep as they have long since settled into the comfortingly somnambulant habit of hitting the snooze button on their 90s digital alarm clock flashing, to their blissfully ignorant incomprehension, 9:11.

Welcome to those of good intent, which surely Imam Tareq Yousef Al-Masri and many more Muslims are! The world is in the midst of so many upheavals, it makes it hard to sort out where, exactly, faith should lead us. The faith of those who live in good circumstances, can be superficial, while it is untested. Where circumstances are bad, faith can take on an antagonistic flavour, while neither of these qualities are intrinsic to it, to show the world that life should be more adaptable to improvement. I mourn the slowness of technology to address itself to serving the people, the environment, human communication, and health. Those with power, are mostly pushing the wrong technologies, for profit rather than improving human existence, and the media are heavily pro- this exploitation. They did not publicize this speech, because they want more money and power afforded to militaristic and other coercive options, throughout the spectrum of every government department, and many industries. Hopelessness reigns, where the pillars of industry overrun every aspect of life, with exploitative products and systems. The age of technology, is the age of increased poverty and political oppression, and widespread brainwashing of the public by media and many public servants. My point of departure, here, is that the focus of food production and medical care, is towards assaulting the environment and all life forms, with toxic chemicals and drugs, rather than bolstering life by cooperating with nature, even though all the writing is on the wall, that this approach brings increasing amounts of environmental damage and physical and mental illness. Companies like Halliburton and Monsanto, are the main beneficiaries of government activity, not you and I. Unless we can divest ourselves from the ugly mindset of killing off everything from bacteria to human beings, because we have not made the effort to understand why they are that way, and what purpose they serve, we will not get to the roots of the problems, and become sophisticated enough to thrive, here on Earth. Terrorists have destroyed only a minute fraction of the numbers of lives destroyed by bad food, bad pharmaceuticals, and bad environmental abuses by industries. I think they, terrorists, are profiled, often as a sideshow, to keep the masses occupied, while covering up most of the real abuse. If most of our food products in North America (80 percent of the 600,000-statistic from Food Revolution Summit) contain sugar (and this is just one of thousands of devitalized and toxic food substances in use), while disease rises exponentially, and most medical services are just designed to exploit this, how much vigour will we be able, as a society, to bring improvements, to other peoples? Islam has not just failed the world, it exists in a paradigm of hopelessness, where human purpose is routinely derailed, and is a symptom, as much as anything else, of proliferating abusiveness. When our physiological approach to life, becomes one of addiction, this extends to our economic approach, worldwide, also. (I do not mean to denigrate the Muslim faith, by saying this; I am referring to it here, only as a social reality, of peoples, who are subjected to world economic patterns.)

This man is an individual his position is different, maybe his moral compass is not textual, his belief is his belief, he is in his own world of right and wrong that is him and the others the Wahabbis or Salafist their belief is real they fellow their teaching from heart and they are not individuals they are groups.

Have you ever watched The Deen Show – I have.
I am a Roman Catholic & have been so for many years……
In the considered opinion of the Prophet Mahammed
Jesus Christ was not the Son of God – in fact it is blasphemy to ever consider that a mortal can be related in this way with God.
Golly Gosh & Poop Robert ….
I was baptised in infancy – just a few months old in fact – this act alone automatically makes me a sister to Jeaus Christ.
Then of course we are taught that we are Gods children & that God is our Father in Heaven.
Then there is the Holy Communion which I attended & participated in whole heartedly – I even carroed the holy banner into church at the head of the procession of boys & girls – when I was 7 years old – now I am in with a big bang.
Then a few year after that there is a Confirmation Ceremony …
Now I belong whole heartedly to the Holy Family …. no doubt … & I am a religious kid … I take it seriously. I even have a set of Rosary Beads & the Holy Bible.
Heaven is home when I am done here on earth.
Not according to the considered opinion of Mahammad.

He’s speaking the truth, for the most part. As long as a muslim does not adhere strictly to the koran peaceful relations can be maintained between various peoples and groups.
It is when a person or group actually studies that document, and it’s supporting works, that they begin violent jihad, for that is what the koran demands.

  37. Olive Balabanov says

    Jan 31, 2015 at 11:28 pm

Wouldn’t it be easier to believe that Muslims are peaceful if they got together a protest for all Muslims to show they are against the hateful violent orders in the Quran. The object would be to denounce in public and remove the violence from the Koran and elsewhere. Then we might be able to really believe they intend to be peaceful. And their children may not feel they should kill all who are not Muslims.
As yet, I have not seen many Muslims raising their voices against the terrorist violence. In fact, more Muslims are going to help the Terrorists than are interested in stopping it. I have seen a few people doing good and one lady social worker with Muslim children actually teaching them not to be violent. I hope their are many more like her. O.B.

At last a bit of common sense..
There are verse after verse of hate, kill, behead, cut off hands, etc of all who are not Muslim in the quran..
A few talk, they try to make us believe that it is a religion of peace while they are killing us or demanding their ways and sharia law in our lands.. they say we are the worst while we are the ones giving them love, housing, food, education, medical, etc while their own preach for them to hate us..
Remember that they are allowed to lie to non believers for the cause of allah as long as they do not mean it in their hearts.. so they can come out and say that it is un-islamic when they know that in fact that it is the very heart of Islam of what mohammad as he destroyed village after village killing their men and raping their women.. even a village of old women, or a village who were peaceful and sleeping..
No this is a war cult, they are to take the world for allah, simply because allah sorry mohammad said to and that allah wants no rivals.. They are just pirates on land and sea.. they seem to not know how to work and they live by stealing from others. So for goodness sake read the last three quarters of this stinken quran for your selves and see the hatred in this book of mohammad… and remember that his first wife was a very rich catholic widow.. hmm in fact he married 3 rich widows all together..

It’s a pleasant change to hear this: “The imam Tareq Yousef Al-Masri apparently believes that jihad terrorists have hijacked the Religion of Peace, as he says: “Anyone claiming that we are not allowed to wish the Christians happy holidays has prepared the killers in France, Boston, in Iraq, in Syria, in Egypt…”

He is speaking to his own followers, so he is not putting up a facade. We’ll see.

    Hallo,

can the people who are ranting against this explain themselves? I wonder why you would oppose such a reflective speech which is clearly full of rationalism and honesty. Why blame him as unimportant? The nun around the corner is also unimportant but if she gives a good example of how religion can be interpreted towards a positive direction, isn’t that exactly what we need and should then attack her for being not the pope?

I bet there are thousands of “honest” American taxpayers which are much more likely to become a threat to society than a man reflecting on his religion like him…

    Best regards,…
