Ireland: Muslim scholar threatens legal action if Muhammad cartoons republished

Jan 8, 2015 9:42 am By Robert Spencer

Ali Selim“I am a great advocate of freedom of expression,” said Dr. Selim. This is how the freedom of expression is dying: at the hands of great advocates of freedom of expression, just as the self-appointed guardians of tolerance are authoritarian thugs who move to stamp out all dissent.

“Muslim scholar could seek legal advice if Irish media republish Mohammed cartoon,” The Journal, January 8, 2015 (thanks to TL):

A TRINITY LECTURER and Muslim scholar has said that he would consider legal advice if a member of the Irish media retweets or publishes a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammed from Charlie Hebdo.

Dr Ali Selim, of the Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland, made the comments following the shooting dead of 12 people at the offices of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris today.

When asked by Niall Boylan on 4FM if he (Boylan) retweeted the cartoon would his life be in danger, Dr Selim – who condemned the shootings – said:

“Not your life would be in danger but definitely we will check the Irish law and if there is any legal channel against you, we will take it,” he said.

“It doesn’t help for peaceful coexistence”

He said he would advise Irish journalists not to reprint the cartoon. “Because it doesn’t help for peaceful coexistence,” said Dr Selim. He described the cartoon as “an act of mockery”.

“You can say love is stronger than hate but you can’t portray the Prophet Mohammed. If the law gives you the right to do it, do it, if the law does not give you the right to do it, then don’t do it,” he said of the cartoon.

Asked if he would seek legal advice if any journalist in Ireland tweets or reprints the cartoon of the Prophet Mohammed, Dr Selim said ‘Yes”.

“Definitely if there is a legal action, I will take it. If you want to blame, blame the law,” said Dr Selim.

“I am a great advocate of freedom of expression,” said Dr Selim, adding that he encourages freedom of expression that does not give room for confrontation, that does not turn one person against another….

The very heart of the issue. Great post: millions of us in America agree! Screw our PC politicians who serve their Globalist whoremasters. Islam is almost a complete antithesis of Western Democracy. Let’s see some Imams jump to the fore ,and start a Reformation centuries overdue in this barbarous system of religio-governance. Until then, stop immigration from these countries, and stop the hate preaching from the mosques! Enough!

Calling this deceitful hypocrite a scholar is an INSULT to scholars especially since Islam cannot possibly have any scholars beyond those who submit to Muhammad’s Quran

Considering the FACT that almost every other verse in the Quran Insults, Denigrates and Incites against ALL other belief systems, EVERY single news media everywhere in Europe who TRULY support Freedom of Expression should PUBLISH the Cartoons for the next few days (Newspapers, Twitter, Facebook, TV, etc) and let this piece of human flotsam DARE take anyone to court!

Muhammad & his Islam are Beneath CONTEMPT and should be treated this way no matter what

If Muslims in the West do NOT like our freedoms, they should pack up and return to their Godforsaken Sharia submissive Muslim countries BEFORE the forthcoming revolution by ordinary Europeans against the Islamisation of the West and the overthrow of the current left liberal criminals in office

Go figure the thinking of these Western universities!!

Stop Muslim immigration and even make arrangements for them to go to any Islamic hell hole if they don’t like it here!!

In Australia the Muslim leaders are lying through their teeth. They think we have forgotten the “behead those who insult the prophet of Islam” signs, but we haven’t. On the BBC I heard a Muslim lady in France being interviewed say “Muslims don’t mind Muhammad being mocked, we believe in free speech”. Yeah right.

      Hello yusuf.

First of all, I’d like to ask you if you kiss the black stone with that thuggish mouth of yours. I’d also like to let you know that JihadWatch is not a person or a physical entity – you can’t kill it or blow it up , no matter how you many “anus extending” sessions you take and how many C4 you stuff in.

Secondly, I’d like to share my opinion with you. My opinion is that, despite your keyboard warrior bravado, you’re a failure of a human being who, if faced with someone criticizing islam or muhammad, would sooner keep his head down and walk away from hearing range before cursing and threating the kuffar than speak up for what you allegedly believe in. Then you would meet your equally brave friends and circle-jerk (figuratively an, if I know islam and muslims, literally as well) to how you “showed” the kuffar their place. You’d all be lying, and everyone would know you’re lying, but you’re used to it – after all, you’re followers of islam, and it comes with it.

Thirdly, threats from muslims are a dime a dozen. Well, not really, you can get them for free. If I had an euro for every time a muslim threatened me in my face – not through a forum post over the internet, like you’re “courageously” doing, but so close to my face I was showered with speckles from the foam in their mouths – I could buy you a nice dinner at Le Cochon. If I had an euro for every death threat from a muslim I’ve had over the internet then I could buy 5 grown pot-bellied pigs, name them muhammad, Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman and Ali, and have them delivered to your house.

Finaly, I’d like to end with a joke. What can the “palestinians” do to raise the average IQ in the West Bank? Allow Jews to come in.

      Yusuf

The whole structure of Muhammadan Islam lives or dies over a SINGLE dogma that Allah the god of Muslims is the same as the God of the Bible.

Islam is like an Inverted cone. Even very stupid Muslims recognise that an inverted cone is unstable and cannot remain upstanding because it will always fall without support

Hence by proving beyond a reasonable or even a shadow of a doubt that Allah is most certainly NOT the SAME as the God of Jesus Moses & Abraham based entirely and only on the Islamic scripture, the following conclusions will be instantly arrived at:

      1. Muhammad was a Pathological Liar who concocted every verse in his Quran since no god called Allah and no angel Gabriel revealed anything to him

      2. Muhammad was not a prophet and Islam is NOT a religion but actually the CULT of Muhammad

      3. Based on the above, ALL Muslims who have died, are dying and will die in the future “Fi Sabil Allah” meaning “For the sake of Allah” would NOT get any 72 Virgins in Muhammad’s promised WHOREHOUSE version of paradise

      4. Under all current Western laws Islam can and should be declared the “ENEMY” of all humans who are NOT Muslims

      5. Hence Islam & Muslims should NEVER be allowed to be part of Western society and should have the choice (just as they give us so called Infidels/ Kuffar a choice) to either LEAVE our countries and return to theirs or CONVERT out of Islam

Yusuf, you Muslims are too Stupid & Arrogant to know WHEN to stop. ISIS and what happened in Paris that are making you happy are (in a manner of speaking) God’s LAST warning to humanity to WAKE UP and unite all over the world to ERADICATE the scourge of Islam

Yusuf, remember this comment of mine when in the very near future MILLIONS of Europeans will revolt against their current Spineless, Witless & Gutless leaders and replace them with ones who will bring the WAR to the very core of Muslims & Islam

The days of Muslims are numbered and every following act will reduce them even more

No. Let’s put the blame where blame belongs….on islam and those so devoted that they steal, kill and destroy anyone who even *seems* to disagree. Put the blame on the ones, like this so-called *scholar*, who *threaten*….some with death, others with *legal action*….meaning money being handed over to the one threatening and thereby threatening anyone else who may be considering exercising freedom of thought and speech.
Is there such a law in Ireland that says one can sue because something is *retweeted*…has their law gone there? The one to whom he referred as being taken to court should stand his ground and not be intimidated. Let the guy go *find a lawyer* and challenge his thought that *there shouldn’t be room for confrontation*…which he is seeking and which happens in any debate. The courtroom is a place for adversaries. It is confrontation of adversaries by its very *nature.*

It may be only a matter of time before lawsuits start springing up because of “slander” cases against mohammed. Don’t forget what the U.N. has already chartered about religious slander etc. with the O.I.C. (Organization of Islamic Cooperation). We will see how far Sharia has already been grafted into the various national systems of law when a few of these cases start being tried.

The stealth Islamists are using these means while their more forward “brothers” are going for direct warfare tactics. This should be a warning to all who are concerned about sovereignty of their own country! If there are loopholes already established they should be tightened up and laws with greater emphasis on freedom of speech protection tabled and passed.

I have to laugh whenever I hear Muslim + “scholar” in the same sentence – it denigrates the word scholar. Anyone can learn everything relevant about Islam in a week of reading their hateful, arrogant, condescending rulebooks. They are not “scholars” because they have a predetermined Islamic view and do not study or respect anything or anyone else.

These pricks market themselves to liberal schools, government and prisons as holy experts who should be consulted on their views. Once in place they make dubious pronouncements and sow discord among their audiences. And we pay them to do so! Unbelievable.

As someone else commented, Muslims seem to be the most hypersensitive and humorless of all religious or cultural groups. Given their hot-headed willingness to utilize violence whenever even slightly offended, this is a bad combination.

The root cause is that they are both intellectually and emotionally stunted from lifetimes of listening to Koranic instructions and also a genetic predisposition resulting from the prevalence of first cousin marriage. (Sorry – its a fact).

The great Irishman Conor Cruise O’Brien would have *obliterated* this guy with a blast of acid invective in the best traditional Irish style.

Here’s Conor Cruise O’Brien commenting upon the Salman Rushdie fatwa, back in the day.

    On Friday 22 August 1994.

    http://www.independent.co.uk/opinion/islam-back-to-the-dark-ages-we-should-not-repeal-the-enlightenment-to-appease-ayatollahs-says-conor-cruise-obrien-1382946.html

Islam: back to the Dark Ages: We should not repeal the Enlightenment to appease Ayatollahs, says Conor Cruise O’Brien

    Excerpt (he pulls no punches):

“There is no distinction, in Islam, between the spheres of religion and politics, and no terrestrial limit to the dual jurisdiction of such an official. For infidels to seek ‘harmony’ with Islam is an illusion. The only way of attaining harmony with Islam is by conversion. ”

The same Conor Cruise O’Brien, on the illusory distinction between ‘fundamentalist Islam’ and any other supposedly nicer, kinder brands of Islam. Again from the 1990s, long before September 11 2001.

    http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/the-lesson-of-algeria-islam-is-indivisible-1566770.html

‘The lesson of Algeria: Islam is indivisible’

    Here’s how O’Brien begins:

“Fundamentalist Islam” is a misnomer which dulls our perceptions in a dangerous way.

” It does so by implying that there is some other kind of Islam, which is well disposed to those who reject the Koran.

    “There isn’t.

“Islam is a universalist, triumphalist and political religion. It claims de jure dominion over all humanity; that is God’s will.

“The actual state of affairs, with unbelievers of various sorts dominating most of the world, is a suspension of God’s will and a scandal to the faithful. The world is divided between the House of Islam and the House of War, meaning the rest of us.
“For more than two centuries now, the House of War has been in the ascendant, and the House of Islam has been abased.
“The remedy for this unnatural and intolerable state of affairs is jihad.
“Jihad is defined as “the religious duty imposed on all Muslims to wage war upon those who do not accept the doctrines of Islam”.”….
“What is going on today in the Muslim world is not the advent of some aberrant thing called Islamic fundamentalism but a revival of Islam itself – the real thing – which Western ascendancy and Westernised post-Muslim elites no longer have the capacity to muffle and control.
    “The jihad is back…”.

If you have never read this: click on the link read it and make your own copy for dissemination far and wide.

Toward the end, O’Brien says this:

“All the great religions are the same” is the idea.
    “Only they aren’t.
“The Clintonian world view observes [sic: I think he probably wrote ‘obscures’] the hard specificity of Islam.
‘The Prophet Mohamed did not offer his followers a chance to live in harmony with their neighbours.
‘He taught them to fight their neighbours, if they were unbelievers, and kill them or beat them into submission.
    “**And it is futile to say of those Muslims who faithfully follow those teachings today that their actions are “not intrinsically related to Islam”.** {my emphasis – dda}
We are facing an Islamic revival…”.

And for good measure, this is what Conor Cruise O’Brien managed to get published in an article – it may have been an interview, I have not been able to track down the original in its entirety – in The Times on 11 May 1989.

“Muslim society looks profoundly repulsive…It looks profoundly repulsive because it *is* repulsive…A westerner who claims to admire Muslim society, whilst still adhering to Western values, is either a hypocrite or an ignoramus or a bit of both. At the heart of the matter is the Muslim family, an abominable institution”.

“ …Arab and Muslim society is sick, and has been sick for a long time.
“In the last century the Arab [sic] thinker Jamal al-Afghani wrote: “Every Msulim is sick, and his only remedy is in the Koran”. Unfortunately, the sickness gets worse, the more the remedy is taken.”

Irish Jihadwatchers: take Conor Cruise O’Brien on the subject of Islam and see how fast and how far you can make these statements spread. And see whether this Ali Selim’s head explodes.

I expected the grauniad to come out whining about how we must respect the poor little mohammedan’s feelings, and that maybe Charli Hebdo brought it on themselves.

      There is hope, after all.

Sadly the Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland website does not include an email address, so I was unable to send this ‘doctor’ a copy of the CH cartoons.

Does anyone know their email address? Or that of the sinister Ali Selim?

A few copies of the cartoons should cheer him up remarkably.

This turkey, posing as a scholar (this isn’t difficult to do in our time), is at least a fool, at worst simply a damn liar. One thing’s for sure and that is there is nothing this reprehensible man can do for Ireland which would make Ireland become a better nation. Quite the contrary in fact.

Every single Muslim in Ireland makes Ireland less Ireland. Is it this bad? Yes. Ditto for every other Western nation. No Muslim makes any Western nation more Western. Quite the contrary in fact.

Even Ireland, not know for being the most prosperous country in Europe, whose young people are leaving to find work in Australia and else where, isn’t immune from these parasites leeching off the generosity of the Irish people. To add insult to injury this head fool of the Islamic propaganda unit set up in a university wants to stifle Irish people’s freedom to express themselves in their own country. As Irish history demonstrates, the Irish don’t take kindly to being told what to do by outsiders in their country. Some rekindling of this Irish fighting spirit is in need.

The “man” in the above discussed article, Mr. Ali Salim, has an e-mail address. Here’s his e-mail address:

    aliselim@islamireland.ie.

Here’s a suggestion for readers of Jihad Watch…. Why not put that e-mail address to use and send Mr. Salim a whole bunch of Charlie Hebdo cartoons and Jyllands-Posten Mohammad cartoons to help him get over being “offended” and get used to Western concept of freedom of speech??

Who knows, maybe he’ll do Ireland a favor and decide to leave? Best would be to strip him of his right to live in Ireland since he seems to have such a hard time adapting to Western values.

If Islam is not a devilish religion, then what is the difference between God and the devil now? If Islam claim to be Godly and have emanated from a Holy prophetic source, yet can kill just as the devil does, pour blood just as the devil does, what better thing is Islam doing than the devil to be called a peaceful religion? It means the devil is the same as Islam. A tree is known by it fruits. The West must develop a legal and a military system to counter the spread of this abominable religion called Islam. Now to you the French, bale out this water which is only an ankle deep, and don’t let your country turn to the middle-east.

It is worth noting that Ireland has recently renovated and re-enacted its antique blasphemy law. This may seem daft, but it was feared that failure to do so would have contravened a provision of the Irish Constitution originally introduced through the influence of the Roman Catholic Church while it was still almost all-powerful in this country (no longer, thank the Gods). I recall Dr. Ali Selim opposing the removal of blasphemy law from our Statute Book when the matter was subject of debate. Now we can see why. The Irish Constitutional Convention – a consultative body which advised the Government on Constitutional matters, consisting of politicians, interest groups and lay citizens, voted overwhelmingly for the modification of the Constitution to eliminate the need for a blasphemy law here (prefatory, presumably, to the repeal of the recent, renovated law). This would require a Constitutional referendum. The Government is proposing to run a number of referendum votes later in the year; it will be interesting to see whether a “blasphemy referendum” is included. I sincerely hope so. Best regards, JR.

Dismiss this man immediately, he should not be allowed anywhere near an education establishment anywhere in the Western World. He is not a Democrat, and he is most certainly not tolerant or accepting of the culture in which he enjoys a good living. He has a closed and a dangerous mind. Satire has always been a right and a freedom in Western Society and is far more acceptable in our culture than the rants of yet another Muslim fanatic! We have now become victims of our over tolerant and inclusive society!

I pray that the Irish people will not allow any intimidation of any sort and stand by their heritage beliefs at all cost. They should learn from what’s happening around the world today and unit strongly to profess the Catholic faith, support freedom of expression and stand against any idea, to compromise this inalienable right of the Irish people.

Update – Ireland’s Taoiseach (Prime Minister) has declared that the question of blasphemy and the Irish Constitution will not be dealt with “in the life of this Government”, that is, before late next year at the very earliest (and things like this seldom happen quickly in Ireland, anyway). This means that the opportunity to address the matter along with other constitutional issues later this year is to be “passed over”. Typical of Irish politicians – prevaricating, cowardly, disgraceful … Best regards, JR.
