The Western intelligentsia’s response to this savagery will likely be to call for voluntary self-censorship so as not to offend Muslims — rather than to call for a robust defense of the freedom of speech and resolute stand against these violent attempts to make the non-Muslim world conform to Sharia blasphemy laws.
“Niger protests over Charlie Hebdo Prophet Mohammed cartoon leaves four dead and 45 injured,” AFP, January 16, 2015 (thanks to Anne Crockett):
Four people were killed and 45 injured in a day of violent protests in Niger’s second city against French magazine Charlie Hebdo’s publication of a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammed.
Massaoudou Hassoumi, the interior minister, said a policeman and three civilians died in Friday’s disturbances in Zinder in which three churches were ransacked and the French cultural centre was burned down.
Thousands of protesters gathered outside mosques after Friday prayers to vent anger at the depiction of the prophet, which is considered taboo to most Muslims.
Twenty-two members of the security forces and 23 protesters were hurt in the ensuing clashes, national radio reported, as one Catholic and two Protestant churches were attacked.
A doctor in the city’s hospital told AFP that all of the dead and three of the injured had gunshot wounds….

And as the mob only burned churches but said nothing about his mother, the Pope could not be reached for comment.
Angry says
Even if he could be reached, the catholic ‘Pope’ will say to his flock that it’s nothing to do with islam, so don’t blame muslims; as he has done recently.
zulu says
It’s amazing that thousands of Muslims can find the time to demonstrate over a cartoon, but when it comes to Islamic terrorism, the masses are silent.
Spot On says
“Western Intelligencia”…Pointy headed idiots.
Angemon says
None of which was related to CH, a private magazine…
I wonder how many of the thieves and vandals actually saw the cartoons…
albert says
All this happened after Friday prayers, but had nothing whatsoever to do with Islam.

Nah, western intelligentsia doesn’t care about Africa. No one does really. That’s one part of the world that has been in victim mode of its own doing for too long.

On BBC news this Sunday morning it is TEN Churches burned
Niger is very important and is very instructional. There is 95 per cent Muslim population, 5 per cent other mainly Christian.
This is how I read it correct me if wrong. The 95 per cent Muslim are rooted in the Koran. This may be a passive rootedness not unlike the prejudices that surrounded Christians, with reference to Judas being the traitor and the Jews who killed the “saviour”, a prejudice that can lie underneath for a long time, but at times become critical.
There is along with that 95 per cent the profesional inflamers of these underlying prejudices. That is happening in scores of different countries as we speak. Niger has a very long border with the critical Nigeria, the largest African country population wise, a country much divided on itself which never really got over the Biafran Civil War tending to drive towards pacifism in its aftermath. As an aside this happens a lot and Ireland is an example where the dead alley of the Irish Civil War post 1921 “Independence” encouraged revisionist thinking about the concept of independence itself. This weakening of nation is fertile ground for Islam Jihad. So in Nigeria there is a large army but the army is almost pacifist in spirit, thinking and tactics.
In all of these countries like Niger there is a very unstable political situation to start with. Then along with that there is the promotion of Jihad and of Islam by Obama, by the Democrats, by parts of the republican side like McCain, and there is promotion of Jihad on a broad canvas by ALL European Governments, the centre of which focus is the lethal poison of Antisemitic “Palestinianism” (and here I have to honour the memory of Joan Peters who died recently)
The comments on Jihadwatch above are spot on. I am a Trotskyist socialist revolutionary and I agree with them 100 per cent.

I know that the present pro-Islam Left (which can define them as fascist!) are treacherous but especially the Churches are silent. I googled this “pope on niger murders” and if Pope Francis had a position on these murders and elimination (certain) of a 5 per cent minority in Níger it would be in the search results. But nothing. The last reference is to months ago. The Christians do not have a chance of survival in these African states like Níger.I wrote Robert’s article up with my own intro on http://4international.me/2015/01/18/the-islamic-jihad-and-koranic-strategy-threatens-niger-and-all-weakened-national-states-christian-minority-in-great-peril-pope-absent/

Perhaps the people of Niger should dedicate the same level of enthusiasm toward solving poverty and famine. Take a good look at yourselves people – it’s a cartoon!

its an excuse to loot!

There is no moderate islam. those who burned the churches were said to be moderate a week ago. what upsets me more is the wester and American leaders who condone islam’s violence. it is unacceptable to allow muslims to kill christians for things that happen 7000 kilometers away and have nothing to see with the church. this is pure hatred against christian and my conclusion is that even the pope doesn’t love christians.

Muslims will use any excuse to attack non-Muslims. If one doesn’t exist they will make one up.
Walter Sieruk says
Those Muslim mods who burned down those churches in Nigeria because of publication of those cartoons in France have shown tow things. First ,these mods of Islam have exposed just how ignorant irrational they really are. For those churches in Nigeria had and have nothing at all to do with those cartoons in France. Second, the violent and terrible action of going against those churches because of those cartoons shows the truth in the saying .Which is saying that “Evil is always looking for an excuse.”
