Uswa-e-Hasna is excellent example or pattern: “There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah often.” (Qur’an 33:21) The idea is that Muhammad is the excellent example of behavior for Muslims; if someone imitates him, he is doing well. And now Shahbaz Sharif is saying that imitating Muhammad will solve all of Pakistan’s problems, including the problem of terrorism. At least by this account, he doesn’t address why Islamic jihad terrorists also invoke Muhammad to justify their violent actions and make recruits among peaceful Muslims. He doesn’t explain how a man who said things like this can be an example for rejecting terrorism:
Allah’s Apostle said, “I have been ordered to fight the people till they say: ‘None has the right to be worshipped but Allah’. And if they say so, pray like our prayers, face our Qibla and slaughter as we slaughter, then their blood and property will be sacred to us and we will not interfere with them except legally.” (Bukhari 8.387)
