Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Ron Paul: Charlie Hebdo jihad attack was a reaction to France’s foreign policy

Jan 8, 2015 3:45 pm By Robert Spencer

Conservative Political Action Conference Draws Major Leaders From The RightRon Paul and other paleocons such as the pro-jihad American Conservative are fanatically attached to the idea that Islamic jihad is all a reaction to the West’s foreign policy — so much so that they have frequently turned a blind eye to the jihadis’ stated agenda, and see the depredations of Western foreign policy where it actually played no part. The Charlie Hebdo jihad massacre was not about French foreign policy; according to one of the jihadists, it was about avenging Muhammad — avenging him, that is, for the insult of the Charlie Hebdo cartoons. The West’s foreign policy regarding the Islamic world and the jihad threat is cartoonish, but that doesn’t make the Charlie Hebdo massacre about the West’s foreign policy.

“Ron Paul On Paris Attack: Bad Foreign Policy ‘Invites Retaliation,’” by Andrew Kaczynski, Buzzfeed, January 7, 2015:

Former Republican presidential candidate and congressman Ron Paul says bad foreign policy is to blame for the Paris terrorist attack on the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo that left at least 12 dead and 11 wounded.

“Well, you know, partially what the Secretary of State said is true — this is pretty obscene, when it comes to violence, and libertarians are pretty annoyed by anybody who initiates violence,” said Paul on NewsMaxTV’s Steve Malzberg Show Wednesday. “This is pretty bad.”

Paul said the context for the attack, however, was France’s involvement in the Middle East.

“But in the context of things, France has been a target for many, many years, because they’ve been involved in foreign affairs in Libya, and they really prodded us along in — recently in Libya, but they’ve been involved in Algeria, so they’ve had attacks like this, you know, not infrequently. So, it does involve, you know, their foreign policy as well. When people do this, you know, the rejection of the violence has to be made, and with that I agree.”

“I put blame on bad policy that we don’t fully understand, and we don’t understand what they’re doing because the people who are objecting to the foreign policy that we pursue, they do it from a different perspective,” Paul added. “They see us as attacking them, and killing innocent people, so yes, they, they have — this doesn’t justify, so don’t put those words in my mouth — it doesn’t justify, but it explains it.”

Paul said it was the West’s overall foreign policy which “invites retaliation.”

“And this is why we say if we had somebody do to us what we have done to so many countries in the Middle East, and how many people we’ve killed, and sending over drones, and bombing, being involved in all these wars, and supporting dictators one week, and taking away the support — and the stupidity of us sending all those weapons into Syria, ending up in the hands of ISIS — and right now we’re even sending more weapons! You know, because ISIS took all the American weapons. It’s that overall policy which invites retaliation, and they see us as intruders. But it’s a little bit more complex, you know, when they hit us, either here at home, and hit civilians, and what’s happening in France. But I don’t think you can divorce these instances from the overall foreign policy.”…

Instead the West have totally STUPID idiots such as Ron Paul who does not have two braincells of logic regarding Islam

I must point out to this IDIOT that neither France nor the USA or any modern European country existed 1400 years ago when Muhammad Unilaterally declared TOTAL WAR against ALL humans who do NOT believe in him

And to imagine this clueless creature is aspiring to be president of the USA!

This is WHY many who are commenting here KNOW that the ONLY way to defend ourselves against Islam is for the PEOPLE to overthrow their imbecile current cowardly leaders and bring the war to Islam’s innermost centres

PEGIDA and other such movements will keep on growing because the public are the ones who are at the receiving end of Islamic JIHAD terror, not the elite

But you’re correct that not enough voters see a person like West as what America and all the West (excuse the pun) need right now. Again, it isn’t Islam that’s the main problem. Islam is the main SECONDARY problem. The main problem is continued willful ignorance of Islam by way too many kuffaars, many of whom, unfortunately, have the right to vote.

The jihadists said…shouting it…their *reason* for what they did. But those who say otherwise are of one of the two groups who just do not accept the motives.

But those with understanding, knowledge and wisdom know just what the image represents and reject it. Soon, according to Bible prophecy, there will be a confrontation such as has never been seen on earth before.

I blame this tragedy on men like Mr. Paul who have stuck their heads in the sand and denied the existence of an entire society of people who want to murder anyone who they feel do not follow their opinions of God’s word. It’s time we stood up and demanded that our leaders take seriously the threat of militant Islam and it’s supporters!

The first rule of surviving a gunfight is to know that you are in one. We are now, and have been for a while, in such a fight; and by their own admission, only one side will survive. If we do not acknowledge that we are in such a fight there is absolutely no way that we can win it.

If it is our foreign policy that is causing Jihad, how about we completely pull out of any involvement in the middle east, forcibly move all European muslims to the middle east and then let them sort out their own problems. Muslims may stay in the west but all mosques to be shut down until the Islamic countries allow other religions to thrive within the state. Of course the resulting problems in the middle east will be all the fault of the nasty west again whilst muslims are unable to sort out their own problems and will be killing each other on a regular basis.
Israel would have to be protected from the ensuing civil wars throughout he region. No muslim refugees should be allowed travel to any country that is not already fully Islamic

We made it clear that your embassies weren’t welcome in the 2012 Benghazi attack, yet you still want to return and you are hoping that General Hafter wins just so you can return and snatch a couple of oil barrels, but even if Hafter wins that wouldn’t make much of a difference, you would send your diplomats back to us just so they can get attacked again.

        Jan 8, 2015 at 5:08 pm

Notice that while “Libyan Jihad” uses the plural (“We made it clear”, “back to us”) chances are he was nowhere near Benghazi. In fact, he probably has nothing in common with the perpetrators of the attack other than the religion – assuming he belongs to the same sub-cult, otherwise he’d get a serious case of “lead poisoning to the brain” faster than he could say “allahu akbar”.

I wonder if it works the other way around – does “Libyan Jihad” say he’s been attacked, for example, when talking about the recent attacks on mosques in France? If so, how does that work when it’s a muslim attacking a mosque? Is it a case of “stop hitting myself”?

        ………………………………..

What a bloody barbarian. Civilized people don’t murder other nation’s diplomats. Even those at war do nothing more than deport said diplomats, making sure they return safely to their host nation. This is what happened during WWII with German and Japanese diplomats.

And he doesn’t care that Ambassador Chris Stevens had—through a mistaken belief that Libyan rebels were “freedom fighters”—actually been *helping* the Jihadists.

But why would he care? The ambassador and other diplomats were just “filthy Infidels”, and thus fair game for slaughter.

And the idea that the West is “stealing oil” from Muslims is a ludicrous lie—instead, it is Muslims themselves who are getting rich off unearned oil wealth, and using it to fund violent Jihad. If it were not for the innovations of the West over the past 100+ years, Muslim barbarians would consider oil nothing but a curiosity.

And never mind that the story above is not really about Infidels in Dar-al-Islam, but about ravening Muslims coming to the free West and murdering any who dare criticize the savagery of Islam and champion freedom of speech.

He believes that Infidels should be kept out of the Muslim world—even as diplomats facilitating hand-outs in the form of “foreign aid”—but believes that the kuffar should let Mohammedans flood into their own lands, where they can impose brutal Shari’ah on us.

          Jan 8, 2015 at 8:32 pm

One more point: Libyan Jihad’s idea that Americans are sitting around gleefully cheering on Libyan General Hafter is simply ludicrous. I’m generally fairly knowledgeable about Jihad around the world, and I had no idea who this was—I had to look him up.

The only one here who appeared to know who he was is Salah, who is Egyptian and has a reason to especially closely follow Jihad savagery in the Mahgreb.

In any case, Hafter seems a pretty equivocal figure, who appears to have championed Jihad at least as often as he has opposed it. In other words, just another Mohammedan jockying for power in the violent chaotic hell of Dar-al-Islam. He does seem to generally oppose the Muslim Brotherhood, although it is unclear whether this is on ideological terms. At best, he may be a figure similar to that of Al-Sisi in neighboring Egypt.

It is very sad to learn about a former Presidential candidate of USA applauding the unspeakable murder in France by those who openly claimed they were avenging for insult on advocate of evil dispensation and totalitarianism Why would he criticize the Western and in fact USA his county’s foreign policy? Perhaps that will include the policy of opening the door to West tl allow unscrutinised disciples of Islam to migrate to West years ago exercise made it inevitable for the recent killers in France and other 2000 citizens said to had surreptitiously sneaked away to fight for ISIS to be born in France and other Western countries who knew and followed identified with correct religion. What does Ron Paul expect if from a religion that openly advocates and inspires violence in all ramification of the evil tendencies? Has Ron Paul ever read the Koran and judge by himself a the grave obscene display of cruelty on humanity just to convert member by cohesion. Deluded, the protagonist even dead many years ago wanted all to share the same delusion. Ron Paul should have blamed the West for tolerating the wickedness unleashed to humanity in the name of religion.
Years ago Somali citizens had no home they could call their own as the religious intolerance spearheaded by tribal greed inspired the killing of one another. The West and Canada particularly open their door in obedience to plausible foreign policy of kindness to the disadvantaged and Somalian s Islamic Somalian trooped in and years after still unassimilated and today many migrated from Canada and and other Western countries to give allegiance to ISIS where they received crude trainings of murdering with impunity never known before in the annals of modern civilization and return to practise to the superficial Western countries to nurse cruelty and at any slightest moment as the even in the France unleash anger on humanity.
The United nation has asked for the distribution of Syrian refugees who are predominantly of thet religious classification. The West again is positively responding with Canadian hegemony who as announced will let 10,000 of them into Canada to breathe a sigh of relief . Yet they will be arriving with religious obsession in Islam and as a very strong potential for future attach on the fingers that will feed them
I suppose Ron Paul got it wrong by his attack on the Western foreign policy while exonerating the iniquities of religious indoctrination that shut the minds of the beneficiaries of Western culture disallowing them from seeing the realities
Ron Paul would have been advocating for religious freedom and identifying a roll for the West through the United Nation to bring a total change in the religious doctrines that reflect or support any form of violence or hate against the citizens of the world. Perhaps keep them away from the West and provide for them where ever another land can be identified they could call their homeland. West ought to Use conversion and repentance as a strict parameter for migration to West. Otherwise the sweeping emigration of potential Jihadists under the cover of refugee or whatever guises would lead to situation whereby the entire world would rise up one day to see massive destruction in humans and materials in a magnitudes that would astound the world because the religion espouses violence , anarchy, intolerance, murder of unbelievers and dispossession of their properties.

The flaw with libertarians is that they assume rational players on both sides of a social transaction. That’s just not so with the Holy Islam. So again Rep Paul makes a fool of himself on foreign policy, but I bet he feels good about himself. In his mind, the equation makes perfect sense. One shudders to think what would happen if his son is elected president. But, on the other hand, it couldn’t be any worse than what we’re getting from Prez Barack Hussein, or got from Prez Dubya, or look to get from any of the twenty or so potential Republican candidates queuing up now for 2016.

There is no possibility of reversal of our longstanding course of accommodating Moslems. As I wrote in here years ago, that won’t be possible until after a major attack, one much bigger than 9/11, probably involving a nuclear weapon or some other WMD, and would be unlikely even then.

France’s Jihad problems are indeed caused by their policies regarding Algeria and Libya, but it isn’t their foreign policy. It is their loose immigration policy regarding folks from those countries, and other predominantly muslim countries.

This proves once again why the Libertarian party will (unfortunately) never gain any traction in the US. They refuse to recognize that the world is full of vipers who will strike whenever they can, and will not develop a coherent policy to address these real, or future, threats.

We tried burying our heads in the sand already, as is Dr. Paul’s plan, and it didn’t work out too well on December 6,1941.

    • Matthieu Baudin says

      Jan 8, 2015 at 8:01 pm

Thankyou BigRob, the loose immigration policy has been a disaster waiting to happen. Thirty years ago there were already an estimated one million illegal north African immigrants. Since then the numbers have grown even further together with a significant rise in official immigrants from these countries. The current international Jihad has now captured the allegiance of a percentage of these people which translates into a large number of individuals who are ready to create havoc for years to come. Thank you in particular for arguing against Isolationism in the US and elsewhere.

What an idiot. Though it has been less than perfect—due to the fact that France, along with the rest of the West, is clueless when it comes to grasping the ideology of Islam—has through her actions generally *opposed* Jihad.

Lately, she has driven back Jihadists in Mali and rescued victims of a Jihad hostage taking in Algeria. For this, Paul believes that France is “killing innocent people”. *Ugh*.

And look how he characterizes the slaughter of twelve innocent journalists and a police officer, and the wounding of many more through a calculated, cold-blooded military-style assault: as “annoying”.

Gee, I guess the Holocaust and the Rape of Nanking were kinda “annoying”, as well…what a tool.

Ron Paul talks alot about “spilt milk” as if we could go back and change things. I don’t think it’s helpful. But going forward- some of his advice would be well taken by many to avoid digging a deeper hole. There would only be French people in France today doing all the French things that French people like to do. Maybe a few immigrants just to spice the stew but not to a saturation point- but mostly French people living by their Constitution. Most of the Muslims in France and the entire West arrived AFTER 911. Not if Ron Paul was listened to.

We are allied with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan and the GCC etc. and have given them war guarantees and friendly foreigner passes. Ron Paul objects to this. Bloomberg is getting into Islamic Banking intersects with the Gulf States. So we see it reflected in his newspaper. So is Britain. Warren Buffet is opening a nuclear fuel bank in Kazakhstan for Iran and KSA and GCC. We have serious conflicts of interest going on.
So Ron Paul is more right about our crappy policies than he is wrong.

13 years, thousands dead, wounded and displaced- over 1 trillion dollars (conservative estimate) and Carte Blanche for our military and the wars continue un- abated and un- won. Trust is gone.

In light of new information and experience many conservatives and younger people these days no longer want to put as much weight on the policies and opinions of neo-conservatives either. The Left is old hat too. We have been there and got the t-shirt. I think that is why so many people these days are more willing to listen to so many points of view at this point in our history.
