The Obama Administration doesn’t want to acknowledge that the Taliban is a terrorist group, because it knows that with the reduction of the American presence in Afghanistan will come an increase in the Taliban’s power. The more Americans remember that we went in there to fight the Taliban, the more the whole enterprise will look like a failure. Which it is.

The world is mad…..we are all governed by lunatics……we must be lunatics too for voting for them…..
JOSEPH says
Many of those lunatics said one thing to get elected and as soon as they are in office they do another. Obama didn’t lie when he said “change”, he just never said it was going to be for the worse.

“Obama didn’t lie when he said “change”, he just never said it was going to be for the worse.”
And only a fool votes for someone on the basis of “Change!” without ever once asking what kind of change is being proposed!

Unless you are willing to colonize the country, it is fruitless to launch a full-scale invasion of an Islamic country, because once you leave, it will still be an Islamic country. The French took over Algeria in the mid-nineteenth century in response to Muslim piracy, and then left in the mid-sixties. Since then, Algeria has undergone an incredibly bloody Islamist insurgency in which hundreds of thousands died, until finally stabilizing under a military dictatorship which threw out the results of a pro-fundamentalist election. Today, Algeria finances the construction of mosques in Europe with their oil money.

The jihad against the French (aka in mainstream-speak, the “War for Algerian Independence”) was also brutally fierce, with the Muslim perpetrating atrocity after atrocity against the French Algerians (a French community had grown there over the 150-odd years that the French had tried to civilize the hellhole); and during and in the years of aftermath there were also terror attacks against cafes and such in southern France.

The corporate greed won’t let that happen, no matter how thoroughly the western civilization is destroyed.

The problem with Afghanistan is not their thriving economy–quite the opposite.
It is a failed state. Hence, it attracts gangsters to lead it, e.g. the Taliban.
And, the growth industry in Afghanistan is heroin exportation.
Things are not simple. Remember how many great nations where brought down over this difficult territory starting with Alexander.
What we need are neighbors with thriving economies that are too busy doing business to fight.

islamic countries are not worth saving or colonizing. By definition, they are holes on Earth.

In 1960’s eight million white French/Europeans & Jews were repatriated from Algeria. No media talks about it, I guess they don’t want native Europeans to know that ‘repatriation’ is possible no matter how high the number of invaders are. It happened in 16th century Spain during the reign of Queen Isabella. It could happen again in Europe.

It was wrong for the French to colonise north africa and try to civilise the place, but its ok for fundamentalist muslims to colonise France and turn it into an anti-Semitic hell hole. Such is European Liberalism.

By the way, only slightly off-topic (nothing about Mohammedan pathology is ever truly off-topic, since it all coheres like threads of a Persian rug anyway…), consider how likely it is that the upcoming Superbowl (#49) will involve literally tens of millions of dollars over and above what they would normally spend on security, just because of the additional threats reasonably supposed (and semi-consciously dreaded) to emanate from purely Muslim sources; even if, of course, no one in charge or reporting on it would ever admit as much.
I haven’t done any concerted scholarly Googling on the matter, but a casual effort yielded such gems as the following:
“High-tech scanners are being used to search every item entering the University of Phoenix Stadium — from fixtures and food to the costume worn by halftime performer Katy Perry, customs and border protection program manager Ronald Nunn said.
“Katy Perry’s stage came in last night,” Nunn said. “We’ve got port-a-potties. We’ve got everything — food, hot dogs, hamburgers, the NFL paraphernalia, jerseys, everything.”
I was going to crack a joke about how felicitous it would be to be one of the guys searching Katy Pery’s dress; but I’ll refrain from doing so. 🙂

I love the Superbowl. I couldn’t tell you who’s playing, but since everybody’s inside watching there’s very little traffic .

The Americans did not learn from History. The British,in the 19th Century, when we were the greatest Power in the World, with a massive Empire and unlimited resourses went into Afghanistan and came away with a bloody nose. More recently the Soviets did the same, and with US training and supplies of weapons, the Mujahadeen also caused them to came away defeated. Then hello, the Americans plunge back, with British and other allied help, into the treacle pot to fight the very people they had been arming a little while ago.
The Taliban are the nearest thing to a cohesive force that tribalistic, backward country, (you really cannot call it a nation when tribal rivalries are so bitter) have had and as much as Pashtun hates Tajic hates Uzbeck and the other groups that make up this soup of a country, they are all Muslim, so hate Christian/Athiest outsiders more. President Cheney and his puppet Bush rushed in to get Bin Larden with a relatively token force and pitted them against the battle hardened people who had been their former allies. They learnt nothing from the Iraq misadventure, where a (relatively) pro Western brutal Dictator was replaced by Anarchy and Muslim extremism leading to ISIS. Obama is a clever man but he is doing a collection of very stupid things and under his watch Muslim extremeism has got a lot worse, and he seems to encourage it by his mealy mouthed attitude.
A horde of young men and women returned from these misguided adventures with broken bodies, minds or in body bags, and the politicians who sent them there sit on their fat arses and justify themselves in their memoirs. It was ever thus: the plutocrats send someone else’s son to fight a war of their making, whilst the shareholdings of the weapon makers ensure they have a fine home and a large car to take them to the memorial services of the children they caused to die in the first place.

There’s another reason why the House of Obama won’t admit that the Taliban is a terrorist organization: they traded a deserter/traitor for five top Taliban brass.

These people in the State department need to get with reality and call a Taliban terrorist attack a terrorist attack. Likewise, they need to and really should use the term “Islamic terrorism” and not use the vague term “violent extremism.” Lets call a dog a dog, a cat a cat and a jihad a jihad.

The British did initially got a blow to their nose, the Massacre of Elphinstone’s Army of 1842 & the murder of Louis Cavangari in 1879. However, the British of the time were able to break Afghan’s back twice first in 1842 by General Pollock & his Army of Retribution and later by Lord Roberts in 1879 during the Second Anglo-Afghan War.
Mervyco says
True there were some victories as would be expected when a modern army came up against irregulars but Afghanistan was never an integrated part of the Empire, like India, and the Emirs were always independent and the tribes warred with each other frequently. So as the intention of the three Anglo- Afghani Wars were to subject the Country and it did not happen and the British withdrew, that makes a bloody nose in my book

Jen Psaki is another one of those that I wonder about how she sleeps at night. As she’s lying in bed, going over the events of the day, does she congratulate herself on how well the day went? How many honest and sincere questions she dodged? How many obfuscating, non-answers she gave? How well she served the American people? Does she wonder how proud her Mom and Dad are of her?

You’re assuming that people like her have a conscience. They don’t.
She’s nothing but a political whore; she says what her boss tells her to say, and she does it because she wants to be rich, powerful, and important. That’s it.
