This is just yet more absurdity, and will prove to be an absolutely fruitless and pointless exercise. How can Obama hope to counter “violent extremism” when he doesn’t even dare name what kind of extremism it is? On the other hand, he may focus this summit on “right-wing extremists” and formulate new ways to restrict the freedom of speech and stifle voices of opposition to jihad terror and Islamic supremacism. In that case, it could be very fruitful indeed.
“White House sets delayed anti-extremism summit,” by Josh Gerstein, Politico, January 11, 2015:
In the wake of the terrorist attacks in Paris last week, the White House has scheduled an anti-extremism conference that was originally set for last October but was postponed without explanation.
In a statement issued as many world leaders gathered in the French capital Sunday to express solidarity with France and to vow renewed efforts to fight violent Islamic radicalism, the White House announced that its summit on the issue of homegrown terrorism will take place next month.
“On February 18, 2015, the White House will host a Summit on Countering Violent Extremism to highlight domestic and international efforts to prevent violent extremists and their supporters from radicalizing, recruiting, or inspiring individuals or groups in the United States and abroad to commit acts of violence, efforts made even more imperative in light of recent, tragic attacks in Ottawa, Sydney, and Paris,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said in a statement.
Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson first announced the summit in September, as concern was growing about the threat posed by the Islamic State movement and by that group’s recruitment of fighters in the West. Johnson said the high-level meeting would take place the following month.
However, it did not. In the lead-up to the midterm elections, White House spokesmen repeatedly refused to discuss the reason for the delay or even to confirm on the record that it had been postponed.
Last week’s shooting rampage at a satirical French weekly and hostage-takings at two other sites in Paris refocused attention on the danger of so-called homegrown extremists carrying out attacks far from the places in the Middle East and Africa where such violence is more common.
Earnest said Sunday that the conference would address efforts being taken in the U.S., as well as promoting cooperation with similar work abroad.
“Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) efforts rely heavily on well-informed and resilient local communities. Boston, Los Angeles, and Minneapolis-St. Paul have taken the lead in building pilot frameworks integrating a range of social service providers, including education administrators, mental health professionals, and religious leaders, with law enforcement agencies to address violent extremism as part of the broader mandate of community safety and crime prevention,” he said.
“At the same time, our partners around the world are actively implementing programs to prevent violent extremism and foreign terrorist fighter recruitment. The summit will include representatives from a number of partner nations, focusing on the themes of community engagement, religious leader engagement, and the role of the private sector and tech community,” the White House spokesman added….

Maybe they can get LocoJoe to do a video explaining true islam, and send it to all those extremists.

“America has Hollywood.”
Unfortunately, Hollywood is almost entirely populated by left-loving useful idiots who would sooner take the life story of Christ, replace “Jesus” with “muhammad”, make a movie out of it and present it as an “historical epic” rather than reading the muslim sources and learning how execrable muhammad was.
For example, Tom Clancy’s novel “The Sum of All Fears” was about arab (muslim) terrorists. When the movie adaptation was announced, CAIR lobbied for two years against the use of muslim villains, and the movie version featured right-wing neo-fascists. Another example: Kevin Sorbo has publicly stated that being an assumed Christian harmed his career.

The fact that he’s a sucky actor hasn’t helped him either.

Yes, to Obama and left wing Hollywood, NRA members, the KKK, and tea party guys are violent extremists. I am just waiting for the announcement from Obama that we are at war with the tea party.

Obama’s definition of an “extremist” is…
“Anyone who believes in the Constitution
of the United States of America”.

At this conference we will learn how not to say the words Islam Jihad and Koran.
Violence is like a pinball, all random and herky jerky and just too fast for the human eye to figure out.

WHY DID OBAMA MISS YESTERDAY’S HISTORIC RALLY?

Well why not? The resilient and forceful community could be the jihadist’s family. They need to watch out for deviant religious trends, after all Western civilization does not have enough law enforcement to watch them all. If a jihadist actually commits a crime, mass murder etc then the whole family gets shipped to the Islamic state, right down to 1st cousins. There we can bomb them or perhaps the boots on the ground folk can shoot them dead.

Gail, except in a few cases where the Jihadist in question is a “revert” still living in mom’s basement, the Jihadist’s family is Muslim. They are predisposed not to turn their pious coreligionists in to the “filthy Kuffar”.
We can pretty much count the number of times suspected Jihadists were turned in by their family or community on the fingers of one hand.

No doubt the central theme will be to create a moral equivalency between drawing “Islamophobic” cartoons, and murdering cartoonists. “Yes, murdering cartoonists is bad, but if we would all accept Islamic blasphemy restrictions, there would be no need for Muslims to be violent.”

According to the left in the US, the terrorists are the Tea Party members. That is how detached from reality they are.
HOW can we win a war if the enemy (Islam) is not even named?

Tea party people who simply wanted a smaller government since we agree with what Lord Ackton, when he said absolute power corrupts absolutely, and simply want lower taxes since we are in the midst of a depression despite what the media says. Also the conference will focus on those Amish horse cart bombers, returning war vets, and Catholic nun extremists, while ignoring anything to do with islam,

I’m predicting any action our muslim president partakes in will result in the participation in any website such as this one becoming illegal.
Because, of course, as he has said to europeans; americans are arrogant and provokes terrorism.

I’m afraid that irrespective of whether the political establishment in power has a D behind its name or an R, the problem of ‘extremism’ will continue. Islam is ten steps ahead of us in this war and we haven’t left the starting gates yet. Step 1? Know thine enemy. How can we know Islam if we can’t name Islam? We keep using generic terms like ‘violent extremism’ and ‘radicalized’ without ever naming the root word. Radicalized what? Lutheranism? Extreme what? Buddhism? Until we can have an honest discussion of who it is we face, we will be attending a lot of solidarity rallies after the carnage.
Marius says
The government’s redefinition of “terrorist” as “extremist” is the most alarming example of Orwellian language corruption during Obama’s tenure. I have zero doubt this was done so that law enforcement and intelligence community records would categorize actual domestic jihadists and politically active conservative agitators in the same threat category. The end point being that when government personnel working within the national security enterprise query interior/regional threats they will show flags on both the muslim convert with ISIS tags on his facebook and a Christian who believes that abortion is murder. The Left warps our language to control thought through linguistic restriction.
Kepha says
More solemn pronouncements to the effect that one wonderful, enlightened, erudite American liberal knows Islam better than the combined faculties of every madrassa from Mauretania to Mindanao, Nigeria to Ningxia, and the Kama to the Comoros put together.
And we wonder why the rest of the world calls us arrogant!

Maybe the world leaders cotulf boycott his summit. After all mays a soccer game. Could be on. It would send him a message that he needs to be part of the international community and not when its convenient for him. And thank you again the obama viters
