Denmark: Muslim who fired on free speech event and synagogue is killed

Feb 15, 2015 8:38 am By Robert Spencer

Still image taken from video shows a man who passed a camera in the area shortly after two suspects had fled in a car following a shooting in CopenhagenAfter he opened fire on police — a salient fact that AP for some reason leaves out of its story. In any case, these events in Copenhagen yesterday were a conscious imitation of the Paris attacks last month: an attack on “blasphemers” followed by an attack on Jews. In response, Danish and European authorities are likely to…clamp down further on the freedom of speech and condemn Israel.

“Copenhagen shootings: Police kill ‘gunman’ after two attacks,” BBC, February 15, 2015:

Police in Copenhagen say they have shot dead a man they believe was behind two deadly attacks in the Danish capital hours earlier.

Police say they killed the man in the Norrebro district after he opened fire on them….

“Police kill man believed behind 2 shootings in Copenhagen,” by Jan M. Olsen and Karl Ritter, Associated Press, February 15, 2015 (thanks to D. C. Watson):

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — Danish police shot and killed a man early Sunday suspected of carrying out shooting attacks at a free speech event and then at a Copenhagen synagogue, killing two men, including a member of Denmark’s Jewish community. Five police officers were also wounded in the attacks.

Officials have not identified the perpetrator but say it is possible he was imitating the terror attacks last month in Paris in which Islamic radicals carried out a massacre at the Charlie Hebdo newsroom followed by an attack on Jews at a kosher grocery store.

“Denmark has been hit by terror,” Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt said on Sunday. “We do not know the motive for the alleged perpetrator’s actions, but we know that there are forces that want to hurt Denmark. They want to rebuke our freedom of speech.”

Denmark’s Chief Rabbi, Jair Melchior, identified the Jewish victim as Dan Uzan, 37, a longtime security guard for the Danish Jewish community. He was guarding a building behind the synagogue during a bat mitzvah when he was shot in the head. Two police officers who were there were slightly wounded.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decried the attack and said his government plans to encourage a “massive immigration” of Jews from Europe.

“Again, Jews were murdered on European soil just because they were Jews,” Netanyahu said at the start of his Cabinet meeting Sunday. “This wave of attacks is expected to continue, as well as murderous anti-Semitic attacks. Jews deserve security in every country, but we say to our Jewish brothers and sisters, Israel is your home.”

The first shooting happened before 4 p.m. Saturday when the gunman used an automatic weapon to shoot through the windows of the Krudttoenden cultural center during a panel discussion on freedom of expression featuring a Swedish artist who had caricatured the Prophet Muhammad. The artist, Lars Vilks, was whisked away unharmed by his bodyguards but a 55-year-old man attending the event was killed, while three police officers were wounded, authorities said.

The attack at the synagogue occurred hours later, shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday.

Later, the shooter was confronted by police as he returned to an address that they were keeping under surveillance. Investigators described him as 25 to 30 years old with an athletic build and carrying a black automatic weapon. They released a blurred photograph of the suspect wearing dark clothes and a scarf covering part of his face.

Vilks, a 68-year-old artist who has faced numerous death threats for depicting Muhammad as a dog in 2007, told The Associated Press he believed he was the intended target of the first shooting, which happened at a panel discussion titled “Art, blasphemy and freedom of expression.”

“What other motive could there be? It’s possible it was inspired by Charlie Hebdo,” he said, referring to the Jan. 7 attack by Islamic extremists on the French newspaper that had angered Muslims by lampooning Muhammad.

Police said it was possible the gunman had planned the “same scenario” as in the Charlie Hebdo massacre….

The first victim of Saturday’s shootings in Copenhagen was the 55 year old film director finn Norgaard
    JyllandsPosten.dk (google translate)
    *****
From the blog page related to above:

“According to Ekstra Bladet Two men arrested in Copenhagen. They arrived at the place in the car when police were investigating an apartment – they were arrested, and the police investigated the car.
Police have still not confirmed whether the arrests on Oesterbro related to shooting attacks.”

    *****
(googletranslate of Jyllands-Posten) PET known suspected terrorist in advance

PET chief Jens Madsen says that PET knew of the alleged perpetrator hehind Saturday’s terror in Copenhagen.

PET has had prior knowledge of the alleged perpetrator behind Saturday’s terror attack in Copenhagen early Sunday afternoon.
-It is a person who has been in PET’s radar, says Jens Madsen
The police can not yet say anything well proven on the motive behind the attack, but you are working from a theory that the attacks on Krudttønden and synagogue can be inspired by the terrorist attack on satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris in January.
After the attack on Krudttønden where the man initially hijacked a VW Polo, which he fled, he took a taxi to the settlement Mjølnerparken in Nørrebro in Copenhagen.
Here he arrived at 16:17, and 20 minutes later he left the place again. Meanwhile, he had changed clothes. The new clothes he was wearing when he around one o’clock Sunday night struck against the synagogue in Krystalgade. And when the man was shot and killed near Nørrebro Station early Sunday morning, he was wearing the same clothes as the synagogue attack. The investigation continues into the future. Here, the police must clarify the man’s whereabouts up to the attacks, between the attacks and after the attacks in detail.

In addition, a number of technical studies conducted to finally be able to establish that the alleged offender is actually the perpetrator.

For the sake of the investigation, the police will therefore not currently say more about the man’s identity.

Good riddance. I’m glad they got him without any more police getting killed.

He is may be dead but there are hundreds of thousands of like-minded muslims who fervently and passionately believe in and sympathize with what he did.

I think your estimate is low by at least an order of magnitude. But who at this point is counting, what at this point does it matter?

” Jews deserve security in every country, but we say to our Jewish brothers and sisters, Israel is your home.”

Jews deserve security, the same as everyone else.

Israel is falling prey to the political correctness which is demolishing western countries. It is very difficult to own a gun in Israel, and if you do, you are limited to a lifetime supply of 50 bullets. You heard that right. You are only allowed to buy a total of 50 bullets in your life, outside of what you buy and fire at a firing range.

Israel in general does not permit more Muslims to immigrate into the country, but there are plenty of Muslims inside and near the country. There are regular incidents of assault and harassment by Muslims. In general, citizens not allowed to own firearms (almost every civilian) are extremely vulnerable.

    http://www.jpost.com/National-News/Israeli-gun-control-regulations-opposite-of-US

May I suggest to the Jews of Europe that they practice for freedom and security in Israel by organizing themselves politically in Europe: lobby for gun ownership for citizens, for an end to immigration by Muslims, and the withdrawal by their country of any international organization, such as the EU, that requires open borders.

Then, they will be fit citizens and net contributors to Israel…or any other country for that matter. And they may even find things becoming better at home.

Dont think the Cops throughout the western world dont see whats going on. Those who are tasked to find out whats going on (detectives intelligence types) arent under any alutions. They see everything going on, its the gutless polititians, and corrupted acedemia who refuse to see the light. Lets face it, there was probably a subtle body language movement of some sort like a wink when the guy said that ludicrus statement. And an effort not to be sued by some activist organization would be the motivation for said statement.

Clear, irrefutable proof that the Danish police are fundamentally, racist, bigoted and Islamophobic.
Why else would they gun down a good, devout Muslim that was only practicing his religion and following the example set by his sainted prophet, Mohammed.??
Time for the Danish police to end their intolerance towards the practitioners of the Religion of Peace.
Time for the European Court of Human Rights to step up to the block. Let Danish heads roll.——-

I’m afraid you are right, Charlie. That is, if we go along with Obama and think that all killings (even those done by the police) should immediately be considered “hate crimes” until proven otherwise. I’m waiting for the “mental illness” theory to pop up here also (while it still has not surfaced in the Chapel Hill killings). By the way, did the police find that the car of those three Muslims in Chapel Hill actually was parked in the wrong spot? I’ve never heard anything about that.

Another dead Moslem, another victory for Islam. Further terrorized, we inch deeper into unreality, kidding ourselves into a feeling of security. Meanwhile, the dead one ascends to Jannat, the Moslem Porno heaven, to sit on his throne and gaze over his herd of 72. Every good sales manager knows you gotta motivate your force.

Nothing to do with Islam, of course. Just a fanatic who didn’t like free speech in the first attack, who then turned his attentions to a randomly chosen house of worship with the intention of shooting random people who just randomly happened to be there.

The murderous mohammedan, high as a kite on hatred of non-Muslims and filled with the megalomaniacal Muslim dream of subjecting the entire planet to the horror of a sharia despotism wherein alpha Muslim males can indulge all their basest desires to the max, murdered two people and wounded others.

    He then attacked police.

    The police shot him dead.

He’s dead and gone. Good riddance.
