Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Islamic State attacks Christian villages, captures dozens, burns churches

Feb 23, 2015 10:04 pm By Robert Spencer

Assyrian Church Mar BishoMany people invoke the destruction of churches by the Islamic State as evidence that it is not Islamic, as the Qur’an appears to forbid such activity: “Permission [to fight] has been given to those who are being fought, because they were wronged. And indeed, Allah is competent to give them victory. [They are] those who have been evicted from their homes without right – only because they say, ‘Our Lord is Allah.’ And were it not that Allah checks the people, some by means of others, there would have been demolished monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which the name of Allah is much mentioned. And Allah will surely support those who support Him. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might.” (Qur’an 22:39-40)

This passage, however, doesn’t actually say that churches and synagogues shouldn’t be destroyed. It just says that Allah prevents some people from destroying churches in which is name is “much mentioned.” There is no prohibition on destroying a church that does not teach the true faith — and that is what the Islamic State considers itself to be doing here.

“ISIS Attacks Assyrian Villages in Syria, 4 Killed, Dozens Captured, Churches Burned,” AINA, February 23, 2015:

Hassaka, Syria (AINA) — Fighting broke out at 5 AM today between ISIS and Assyrian and Kurdish fighters in the Hasaka province in northeast Syria. ISIS attacked the Assyrian villages of Tel Goran, Tel Hurmiz, Tel Tamar, Tel Baloaa Tel Shamiran, Tel Riman, Tel Nasra, Tel Khareta, and Abu Tena. The ISIS fighters were met by members of Assyrian Guards (called Natorehs), an Assyrian Militia, and Kurdish fighters form YPG. 4 Assyrian fighters were killed as well tens of ISIS fighters. According to the latest reports, fighting is still ongoing in Tel Tamar.

ISIS has abducted dozens of Assyrian men, women and children, including 12 from Tel Hurmiz, 15 from Tel Goran. They have been brought to Jabal Abdul Aziz. The residents of the villages of Tel Shamiran (approximately 50) and Tel Jazira (about 40) are being held captive in their own villages by ISIS.

According to a report by Newsweek, ISIS will use the Assyrian hostages for a prisoner swap with Kurdish fighters.

A number of churches have been destroyed, including the church in Tel Hurmiz, one of the oldest churches in Syria, the Mar Bisho church in Tel Shamiran, the church in Qabr Shamiy and the church in Tel Baloua.

There are 35 contiguous Assyrian villages on both sides of the Khabur river, stretching 80 kilometers west from Hassaka to Ras al-Ain. The remaining inhabitants of these villages, some 3000, have now been evacuated, most to Hasaka and about 200 to Qamishli. Hundreds have taken refuge in St. Mary church in Hasaka and and St. Ephrem church in Qamishli.

In Hasaka the Assyrian Democratic Organization was aiding the Assyrian refugees with housing and food.

AINA spoke by telephone to Hani Zaya, whose parents, who live in Tel Goran, were abducted by ISIS. According to Mr. Zaya, local Arabs who are members of ISIS and who knew the Assyrian village residents reportedly brought them to “safe-houses” in nearby villages. None of the captives have answered or made telephone calls. Calls made by relatives of the captives have been answered by ISIS members, who have said there is nothing to be done for the hostages….

Don´t look to this current Pope to speak up for or defend the beleaguered Christians of the Middle East.
This Muslim lover is a ravening wolf hiding in sheep clothing that betrays his flock at every opportunity.

Pope Francis is affiliated with the cultural Marxists, if not one himself.

They see the Muslims as primitive, noble savages who are helping to cleanse European civilization from the world and implant Marxism in its place. The noble savages are being used to replace Europeans wherever they live.

Very close to the truth and Christianity is a mortal enemy of Marxism. How long before Europe (and the US) cries to be led by someone like Putin or a South American dictator like the one in Argentina.

Pope Francis wants to be liked, which is not his purpose on earth. While he’s busy playing Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood, well…there goes the neighborhood.

Ironically, Islam has proven that steadfastness to ideals, no matter how reprehensible, is a better way to attract followers than being a weak, wavering fop.

In marketing terms, Francis has no message and offers nothing but dhimmitude and hopelessness.

          Feb 24, 2015 at 11:25 am

@Medina Pope Francis is an example of why Western values are losing. There was a time when clerics did not seek to be pop stars…they only sought to do what was right come hell or high water. In doing so, they commanded respect, which had great social value and is something that liberals do not understand. I agree with @Mortimer that Pope Francis is a Marxist and does not realize it. Most Christians in South America think this way. It used to be called Liberation Theology but is actually just another form for Marxism.

The world MSM is dominated by Marxist liberals. Most of them dislike Christians (and Jews). Muslim savages are one of their enabling tools to help Christians (and Jews) vanish. The masses of the world mostly tune in to the MSM for their news entertainment and see no problem from the scrubbed MSM version of the news. There are also many good people who just do not like to watch violent news and they change channels to MSM to get the scrubbed (RIP) version.

I knew from day one that it was good bye Christians when the Syrian government was being destroyed by US involvement.
The USA, Sauds, Qataries and Turks made ISIS, now the Kurds and Christians are on their own to destroy them or be destroyed.

Progressives don;t want to have lots of people killed.

It’s just that they arn;t going to do anything when it happens except explain it away. Never admit a mistake. Just double down on the rhetoric.

That can;t help their policy of appeasement. It’s how they were brought up.

    Just like Hussein Obama.

Instead of choking off immigration to insane murdering people, we encourage it under a policy of pluralism. Playing with fire. They want to test how far western society can go.

Tease the tiger until it’s too late and it gets you.

      • Paul says

        Feb 24, 2015 at 9:51 am

You’re right, the ‘progressives’ (as opposed to genuinely left-wing
human rights activists) do want this. They hate God and goodness
so much that they don’t just turn a blind eye to this ideology, but
they actively support it. The idea that they are somehow naive is
preposterous given how we are spoilt for means of mass communication.
They want exactly the same things as scum like Anjem Choudary, but
at least Choudary will tell the truth and be open about his fascist views,
whereas a ‘progressive’ piece of shit will repackage their own evil
and perverse twistedness in pseudo-intellectual mumbo jumbo.

Progressives have always been on the side of killing their social adversaries. Christians and Jews are their enemies. Muslim savages are just one of their enabling tools to help Christians (and Jews) vanish.

Progressives invent different operative names over the years. They are chameleons of a sort. Years ago they operated under the Communist banner. 100 million died at the hands of these Communists in the last century alone. They teach our children in most schools and always distort history to cleanse their ugly past.

        • Paul says

          Feb 24, 2015 at 2:46 pm

Classical liberals tolerate other ideas and people’s right to speak
even if they don’t particularly like them. A genuine liberal has a
“live and let live” attitude, but will also oppose oppression and cruelty.
A ‘progressive’ defends the right of people to oppress others and will
deliberately misunderstand the arguments of those who oppose that
oppression – ‘racist’ is a favourite, even though they know that you know
they’re talking nonsense. It’s just sounds more palatable than admitting
than they like to enable evil or that they’re Cultural Marxists.

Couching the battle against Islam in local, petty, party-political terms is futile and nonsensical. All this talk of ‘progressives,’ ‘leftists’ and ‘liberals’ might be satisfying to Americans of a particular, narrow political stripe but it means nothing to the rest of us: least of all to the Christians suffering now in the Middle East, Africa and elsewhere. This kind of useless parochial partisanship is what did for Egypt in the 7th century when they were more concerned with internal matters of politics than collectively facing the Islamic threat that stood on their doorstep.

The conflict is elemental and goes back to the very beginnings of Islam. It didn’t begin with Obama nor will it end with his end of term. Remember, Bush arranged for the bin-Laden family to be spirited out of the US after 9/11 and was pictured holding hands with King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia (following the custom in that part of the world to display brotherly amity). Dhimmihood knows no party.

Obama and his people knew exactly what they were doing. During the Arab Spring, B.O. and his progressive allies always supported the radical element of Muslims. (Egypt, Libya, Syria, etc.) They even invented an excuse to remove Assad in Syria but were not able to carry it out to completion. Assad is the only friend Christians have in Syria. I am surprised Jordan was not overthrown by Obama. At every crucial turn of events in the Middle East, B.O. supported the wrong side. No accident.

      • Markos says

        Feb 24, 2015 at 11:50 pm

Correct on all points Spot On. The Obama foreign policy mirrors the way the early Soviet Union spread communism in Africa (Angola ), South East Asia and the Middle East.
The only difference is that our douche bag President is inserting sharia Sunni Islam instead of communism. What is really criminal is the media and our elected politicians either champion this policy or remain neutral and silent. This also includes most christian denominations and especially Catholics. I’m surprised Pope Francis didn’t offer to wash the feet of the ISIS executioners after they beheaded the young Coptic Christians on a Libyan beach.
It’s all the more remarkable that after the USSR collapsed the newly formed Russia looks to be Christianity’s, maybe, last hope.
Just heard on the radio, unspecified people dug a fifty foot tunnel underneath a sports complex in Toronto, Canada. Hmmm I bet our rat brained muzzies are at it again. We need to find them good paying jobs to keep them out of mischief.

Demolishing churches or evicting the Christians and turning them into mosques has been going on for centuries. The main mosque in Damascus was originally a Roman era church.

Destruction of other belief systems is at the core of Islam, we all know that. And the practice is becoming normative, with our new negotiating partners the Taliban and the Mo-Bro-Hood and the Persians. Church destruction and mass murdering strike terror into the hearts of the Infidels, leaving them open to conversion.

Too bad the general public doesn’t know that Islam is a predatory belief system. Never heard Bill O’Reilly or Sean Hannity or Laura Ingraham go into that, have you?
