Leftist SPLC fan and supporter of Ground Zero Mosque murders Muslims over parking dispute, Hamas-linked CAIR brands it a hate crime

UPDATE: No sooner had I posted this than I saw this headline: “Parking dispute, not bias, triggered triple murder, say NC police.” Will Hamas-linked CAIR retract and apologize for misleading people yet again?

—

Did Craig Hicks murder three Muslims in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, because they were Muslim? Certainly that is what the Hamas-linked terror organization, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), would have us believe. The problem with Hamas-linked CAIR’s narrative, however, is that from the looks of his Facebook page, Hicks is hardly the right-wing anti-Muslim Islamophobic redneck of their hysterical fantasies; instead, he is a hardcore Leftist and fan of Hamas-linked CAIR’s allies, the Huffington Post and the Southern Poverty Law Center.

On his Facebook page, Craig Hicks had a huge and revealing list of “Likes” that shows him much more preoccupied with Christianity than with Islam. He does post a chart likening “Radical Christians” to “Radical Muslims,” but that is about the extent of his mentioning of Islam at all. He likes the atheists Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris and Bill Maher, all of whom have criticized Islam, but his page includes none of their statements about Islam. He likes many anti-Christian groups but no groups that are critical of Islam, and he even likes a group praising Obama for supporting the Ground Zero Mosque.

A sampling of Hicks’ “Likes” from his Facebook page: The Huffington Post; The Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science (Official); Bill Nye The Science Guy; Sarah Silverman; Penn & Teller: Bullshit!; Militant Atheism for the Soul; The Anti-Theist; Stop the World, the Teabaggers Want Off; Atheist Uprising; Stop FB’s Unfair Treatment of Atheist Pages, Content and Profiles; Science: The Magic of Reality; LGBT / Atheist Alliance; Militant Atheism; Scary Bible Quote of the Day; The Extreme Atheist; Science or STFU; Abrahamic Insanity; Neil deGrasse Tyson; Sam Harris; Iranian atheist/agnostic movement; Confronting Ignorance In Religion; World Atheists: Lets Kick Islam and Christianity out of Africa; Religion Must End; Merry christmyth; Pass The 28th Amendment – Complete Removal Of The Church From The State; Hammer the Gods; The LGBT Pink Panthers Movement; The Rachel Maddow Fan Page; Pissing Off The Religious Right; Keep your Bible out of our Vaginas; Mitt Romney Sucks; Separation of Church and State; Southern Poverty Law Center; LGBT Equality World Wide; Anti-Theists, Activist Atheists Fighting Religion; Still here? Silly Christians; Real Men are Kind to Animals; Dogs are family; Have A Gay Day; Kentuckians Against the War on Women; LGBT Activism; Jesus McChrist; Stop Animal Cruelty Groups/ Pages on FB, and help animals in need; Denying Evolution Won’t Make Your God Any More Real; Dogs Against Romney; The Atheist’s Bible Commentary; Organization for Educating Misinformed Tea Party Patriots; GOPHypocrisy; Liberals Against Conservative Propaganda; Fundies Say The Darndest Things; Arrest the Pope and Tax Religion (direct action); Not wasting my Sundays at church; Network for Church Monitoring; No Honor In Gods Or Religion; American Atheists, Inc. (Official); Dominionism is destroying America; Gun Toting Liberal; Christians vs. Atheists (Discussion board); SAGE (Straight Americans for Gay Equality); Americans United for Separation of Church and State; The God Delusion; End Tax Exempt Status for Churches and other Religious Organizations; Change The Law and Tax Churches; Take “Under God” Out of the Pledge of Allegiance; Obama Backs Mosque Near Ground Zero: “This is America”; Stop The Westboro Baptist Church!; and many, many more.

From the looks of all this at least, if Craig Hicks was going to commit a hate crime, it seems much more likely that he would have targeted “right-wingers,” Republicans, evangelical Christians, etc., than that he would have targeted Muslims because they were Muslims. His murders may indeed have been motivated by hatred for Islam — that will only be established by questioning him now and investigating further. What is noteworthy at this point is that even though there is no evidence supporting that idea beyond the fact that the victims were Muslims and Hicks clearly hated all religions, Hamas-linked CAIR and other Leftists and Islamic supremacists are running with the “hate crime” angle.

This is consistent with the fact that Hamas-linked CAIR and other Muslims have on many occasions in the past not hesitated to stoop even to fabricating “hate crimes,” including attacks on mosques. Hamas-linked CAIR and other groups like it want and need hate crimes against Muslims, because they can use them for political points and as weapons to intimidate people into remaining silent about the jihad threat. And when Muslims are killed for any reason, as in this heinous crime in North Carolina, they will trumpet it as a “hate crime” no matter how much they have to trim the facts to do so.

“Killing of 3 in Chapel Hill stirs alarm among Muslims,” by Sarah Kaplan, Washington Post, February 11, 2015:

A Chapel Hill man has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the shooting of a young couple and their sister Tuesday, police say. One of the slain was a student at North Carolina State University. Another was at the University of North Carolina and the third was planning to enroll at UNC dental school this year.

The alleged shooter, Craig Stephen Hicks, 46, turned himself in “without incident” to the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office in nearby Pittsboro after the shooting, Chatham County Sgt. Kevin Carey told the Post. Police had not specified a motive as of mid-morning.

But all three victims were Muslim and after the three victims were identified in an alert from UNC Chapel Hill as husband and wife Deah Barakat, 23, and Yusor Mohammad, 21, and Mohammad’s sister Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha, speculation arose that the killing might be related to their religion. The news sparked outrage and a viral Twitter hashtag, #MuslimLivesMatter, reflecting users belief that the crime was religiously motivated and frustration with what they saw as the media’s failure to report the incident.

The Council on American Islamic Relations issued a statement on the killings later Wednesday morning, calling for the Chapel Hill Police Department to address the speculation about Hicks’ motive.

“Based on the brutal nature of this crime, the past anti-religion statements of the alleged perpetrator, the religious attire of two of the victims, and the rising anti-Muslim rhetoric in American society, we urge state and federal law enforcement authorities to quickly address speculation of a possible bias motive in this case,” said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad.

Ibrahim Hooper, communications director for CAIR, said he has heard “unsubstantiated reports” from community members that the victims had previous interactions with Hicks, including a dispute about a parking spot….

The Council on American Islamic Relations also addressed the potential religious motive for the shooting in a Facebook post, quoting a tweet that read: ““Three Muslims murdered tonight in Chapel Hill, NC by a man because they were Muslim. What a sad night in America.”

Police have not issued a statement about possible motives for the shooting, the Raleigh News Observer reported.

Hicks, the alleged shooter, frequently shared links about atheism on what appears to be his Facebook page. One such post reads: “People say nothing can solve the Middle East problem, not mediation, not arms, not financial aid. I say there is something. Atheism.”…

Allow me to say the obvious here — so we can get it out of the way and move on to other points:

That moron created the “gift that keeps on giving” for CAIR and every organization, imam, campus, right on down to your local victimization specialists.

Yours is one of the more sensible comments on this post.
This murder is a gift to CAIR, SPLC et al. I would not even be surprised if President Obama organises and attends a state funeral for the victims.

This senseless murder has absolutely nothing to do with a North American backlash against the Islamic invasion or Islamic terrorism in the West.

I think this murderer is just a little unhinged. He seems to be a combination of village-atheist-in-the-Bible-Belt mixed with the townhouse/apartment complex Neighbor-From-Hell who keys your friend’s car that’s parked in one of the non-reserved spaces and lets his teenager egg your door because you’ve rebuked the kid for playing Peeping Tom.

If worshiping a Pedophile, believing ‘The State’ is almighty God or a man returning from the dead makes people happy. I’ve NO interest in getting in the way of that. However, I become vigilantly concerned when those beliefs threaten my own Life, Liberty and pursuit of happiness.

Yes, the Constitution mandates freedom of thought. But, that said, it’s too damned bad that we haven’t outlawed communism, Naziism, and socialism. Especially the latter, which is dragging the nation down.

Doing so would be feasible, given that we’re not a nation of laws anymore.

To be more specific. Fervent muslims are motivated by their beliefs to seek out and kill infidels while yelling “Allah Akbar” and “we have avenged our prophet” = lone wolf, nothing to do with Islam, we wonder what their motives were
An atheist with no religious beliefs gets heated up over a parking spot and kills 3 people who just happen to be Muslim = anti Muslim hate crime.

It’s easy to understand once you know the prime directive. Islam is never to blame and Muslims are always the victims.

As an atheist I would like to say that I am now afraid of the backlash but that would contravene the prime directive.

  11. Alarmed Pig Farmer says

    Feb 11, 2015 at 1:20 pm

When they bring this up as an Islamophobic murder, they should:

    1) Mention that a Moslem student ran down a group of Infidel students on the UNC campus commons, although there were no fatalities.

    2) Mention that Spencer graduated from the place and learned Arabic there, and may have put a spell on the town while still in his nouveau Moslem phase, a natural result of what he was taught.

Could it be that Spencer indirectly caused this tragedy? I think Hamas-linked CAIR should look into this question. Me, I already believe he caused the slide of the once great Tar Heel basketball program, so it could be.

Can we perhaps just be human beings for a moment and acknowledge that three people were murdered senselessly, and judging from their social media, seemed like decent people, who just happen to have been Muslim. This doesn’t have to be an “us versus them” tragedy, even if it was “only” about a parking space. Three decent kids who were giving back and living the American dream were killed for no reason. How about a little Christian compassion for the family? And spare me “but they (as in Muslims) killed… Yes, we know what ISIL/Daesh-bags are doing. But that has nothing to do with maybe showing a little decency and not making a mockery of the victims here, who just happen to have been Muslim.

Yes I read their social media that was set up for them.
(a link at the link I listed above if anyone wishes to view). You raise a valid concern. At this early stage from what I read in the article here as well as in the local (News and Observer and at WRAL websites) I get the impression that three people were murdered senselessly by this guy and that some words were exchanged about religion and a parking spot.
However, I will note for the record that these individuals did have a charity connection to aid Syrian refugees in Turkey and while that seems to appear to be a legitimate charity, it would helpful to know a bit more about them to be absolutely sure. Having said that, I agree that “showing a little decency and not making a mockery of the victims here, who just happen to have been Muslim” is a good reminder to any commenters tempted to jump in that direction.

      Hello lashonda —

Yes, agreed completely by me and probably most of the other thousands of persons who visit Jihadwatch but do not comment : three lives were lost, and chances are that these young persons DID NOT KNOW MUCH ABOUT ISLAM BEYOND ITS “FIVE PILLARS” — obligations of every Muslim.

In other words, they were unaware of Islam’s becoming heavily reliant on violent conquest upon Muhammad’s leaving Mecca and going to Medina (that relocation is called the “Hijra” — spelling can vary a bit).

I think what many of us long-time commenters here are predicting is that Muslim organizations, and virtually every other Muslim clergyman — and of course ISIS — will insist on identifying it as A SPECFICALLY ANTI-ISLAM EVENT.

Stay informed about reality — Robert Spencer will sift through the inevitable lies and distortions by media and Muslim supremacists. . . .

Let me be crystal clear. Anyone in America who harms a Muslim simply because that person is a Musim should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. I do not believe given the circumstances that a contributing factor if not a key factor was that the three were Muslims. To me saying the killing was due to a car space dispute is the same as blaming the killing of the Australians by a Muslim on the mental state of the Muslim who pulled the trigger. You cannot have it both ways.

The fact is if one reflects on history this is to be expected as the inept dangerous cultural gatekeepers continue to follow the World Health Organisations advice that violence even terror is a ‘health issue’ not a cultural artifact. So what do some of Other do seeing terror is working they resort to the same. It is going to happen more and more unless the policy changes.

What an ‘intolerant’ bastard, this guy Hicks. Go figure, kill somebody off for a parking dispute while preaching equality on Facebook ! I doubt the SPLC will be appreciating the thought of him having liked them on Facebook. Too bad, really, he seems militant enough to make a real difference on the lofty equality / tolerance battlefield of ideas. A great warrior for the just cause has been lost there.

    LOL !

I just heard Obama say that these people were selected at random, they’re names were not called out, and they just happened to be in the wrong parking space at the wrong time. Really, he just said that. OK, No he didn’t.

As the shooter is a man of the Left this just became a ‘local crime story’ of no importance.

Tens of millions have died under atheist/communist regimes, and the imprisoning, torture and killing goes on today in the ‘re-education’ camps of North Korea and the prisons of China, Vietnam, Laos, and the ‘stan’ nations of Central Asia, once part of the USSR.

Man is naturally drawn to worship (ie ‘give worth to’) someone or something. Past atheist dictators such as Stalin, Mao Tse Tung and Nicolae Ceausescu, and Kim Jung-un and Eritrean President Isaias Afewerki today, demand you worship *them* and imprison without trial, torture and execute at will anyone who refuses to do so. It could be argued that atheism gives rise to self-glorification and tyranny which fuels fascistic and communist regimes. It is interesting to note that all 52 nations which actively persecute Christians today are either Communist or Islamic.

Religion of peace – not so much. Repressive ideology like fascism or Islam – more like it.

that’s very interesting deja vu. Can you point us to the books that outline the atheist doctrine? Can you show us how the atheist doctrine lead to these atrocities? Where is this doctrine preached and who are its leaders?

You are simply showing that you don’t know the difference between correlation and causation.

Nice sleight of hand by the way lumping atheism in with communism and then blaming atheism foe what happened under brutal communist regimes.

Using that logic we can say that Stalin, Mao, the Kims all believed that the earth orbits the sun. Therefore they led Communist/Heliocentric regimes. Those damn Heliocentrists, look at all the deaths they have caused in the name of Heliocentrism.

Seemingly great optics for Muslim/leftist alliance. Unfortunately for it, the “white guy” is one of the left, and the photogenic young people’s family is deeply involved in funding terrorism through Islamic Relief and other jihad “charities”.

Complete dishonesty on Twitter from Muslims attempting to hide systematic, worldwide jihad genocide behind these three murders by one pathetic loser who had no organized beliefs, no training camps, no millions of dollars in funding and no support network.

When another jihad slaughter of non-Muslims somewhere transpires, I’m sure the Twitter Islamobots will be silent as usual.

Supremacist Muslims on Obama’s “high horse” today over 3 murdered by a leftist scumbag, but in denial of millions murdered in name of Islam and about parents of the three who fund jihad terrorists via Islamic Relief “charity”:

The deaths of the three young Muslims mean nothing to CAIR and their ilk. Just like Al Sharpton and his followers, the CAIR people are always looking to take advantage of a tragedy. The shooter was crazy although he was constantly spouting off about religious people being crazy and openly mocked Christianity and ridiculed Mormonism. CAIR and the left have even blamed it on Fox News although it is clear that this Obama-supporting voter was not a viewer. CAIR and its leftist allies are cynical opportunists seeking to use this murder to rally their supporters.

I do not feel that Muslims should be allowed to come to the USA and attend our universities.

Because every time they do, they turn around and attack/kill us in return.

    Just no.

Apparently Ibe Hooper and the other cair bears are petitioning for the parking spot to be recognised as a cair park with full wheelcair access. That way they can spray paint a koran and an AK47 on the tarmac and designate it a muzzie only parking spot.

A lot of people on SM who seek to compare this shooting with Charlie Hebdo and even 9/11 are saying this: ‘What if the faith and ethnicity of the killer had been reversed?’ Do they mean to say that when a muslim kills non-muslims the muslim community accepts that it was a muslim who committed the crime in accord with their religion? Don’t make me laugh. Everytime without fail the cry goes out that this wasn’t a true muslim and had nothing to do with Islam. It’s always ‘work place violence’ or ‘mental illness’ instead. A subject worth exploring perhaps Robert, the hypocrisy of the overblown muslim reaction to this?

I saw Anderson Cooper on CNN last night practically frothing in the mouth, excaliming that these people were murdered only because they were muslims. The lies, the hypocrisy!

One of the speakers – at the funeral said Muslims in the US don’t seek ‘preferential treatment’ – but to be treated as any other American.

But why the need to evoke the idea of ‘preferential treatment’ in this case – which is ironically what Islamic sharia law allows and the reason in virtually all Islamic nations – Muslims enjoy and expect preferential treatment under the law.

The fact is – clearly Muslims are thinking about it – and the push for sharia – something CAIR believe is a “Muslim right” in the US – would indeed give them ‘preferential treatment’ over others.

    ::

The killing of these three Muslims was a tragedy – god knows what this man was thinking – but even for these slay Muslims – if there was a problem with parking – for ex. you and your friends/family take up all the spaces – and someone complains about it – to view this as being so-called ‘Islamophobia’ – and totally discard the guy’s and no doubt his family’s request for the need for a parking space for his car or cars.

It is no good thinking – there an Israeli or Zionist plot against you – when what the person is actually saying – we live here too – and could you respect the fact that we need to park.

The whole thing clearly got out of hand.

It might have been better if he took his car and pushed their car out of the way – they might have all ended up having their case heard on Judge Judy!!

    ::

Now you have a Left-wing guy accused of so-called ‘Islamophobia’ – supposedly a ‘right-wing thing – it is a tough fit!!
