There are “fears that the weaponry, aircraft and equipment is at risk of being seized by Iranian-backed rebels or al-Qaeda, according to U.S. officials.” Combine this with the weapons Obama gave to “moderate rebels” in Syria that are now being used by the Islamic State, and the U.S. has provided weapons to a significant segment of the global jihad.
“Pentagon loses track of $500 million in weapons, equipment given to Yemen,” by Craig Whitlock, Washington Post, March 17, 2015:
The Pentagon is unable to account for more than $500 million in U.S. military aid given to Yemen, amid fears that the weaponry, aircraft and equipment is at risk of being seized by Iranian-backed rebels or al-Qaeda, according to U.S. officials.
With Yemen in turmoil and its government splintering, the Defense Department has lost its ability to monitor the whereabouts of small arms, ammunition, night-vision goggles, patrol boats, vehicles and other supplies donated by the United States. The situation has grown worse since the United States closed its embassy in Sanaa, the capital, last month and withdrew many of its military advisers.
In recent weeks, members of Congress have held closed-door meetings with U.S. military officials to press for an accounting of the arms and equipment. Pentagon officials have said that they have little information to go on and that there is little they can do at this point to prevent the weapons and gear from falling into the wrong hands.
“We have to assume it’s completely compromised and gone,” said a legislative aide on Capitol Hill who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.
U.S. military officials declined to comment for the record. A defense official, speaking on the condition of anonymity under ground rules set by the Pentagon, said there was no hard evidence that U.S. arms or equipment had been looted or confiscated. But the official acknowledged that the Pentagon had lost track of the items.
“Even in the best-case scenario in an unstable country, we never have 100 percent accountability,” the defense official said….
No kidding, really?

Obama would say this is the equipment he sent to the Kurds.
Alarmed Pig Farmer says
Never once have I seen a news entertainer account for the fact that equipment was left behind when U.S. forces withdrew. The military analyst generals, admirals and colonels on Fox RINO are never asked about, or bring up themselves, the problems incurred by leaving weapons, ammo and other military equipment behind simply because leaving it is free. No accounting is made of the fact that such equipment can be, and is now, turned against us.
Spot On says
FOX is NE Coast TV. They won’t tell us anything that makes big government look bad and all the other TV networks won’t tell us anything that makes B.O. look bad. Not reporting this major loss of equipment is but one example.
BTW, Last year, I heard a Fox reporter say for the very first time ever on FOX that the Kurds were mostly Christian. This FOX reporter was probably reprimanded for that. We hear them tell us almost daily all about the Muslims but not a word about the Christians. They purposely keep the truth from us. They protect Wall Street and big government interests.

I’m afraid the idea that the Kurds are mostly Christian is quite mistaken.
Kurds are mostly Sunnis of the Shafi school. The infamous Saladin was Kurdish. There are also Kurdish Shi’ites, Alevis (a spinoff of Shia Islam), Yarsans, Zoroastrians, and Yazidis.
There was a significant minority of Kurdish Armenian and Assyrian Christians, but they were mostly massacred—often, in fact, by Muslim Kurds—during the Armenian Genocide a century ago.
Most Kurdish Christians today are more recent converts.
It is, unsurprisingly, difficult to get exact figures for a place that, politically, does not exist. But here’s a Pew Research Poll that puts the Sunni Muslim population of Iraqi Kurdistan at 98%, with most of the remaining 2% Shi’ites. There were a sprinkling of Yazidis, but Christians, if any, appear to have been too small a group to have been statistically significant at all.
http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2014/08/20/who-are-the-iraqi-kurds/
Kurdistan has been—albeit very imperfectly—something of a haven for Christians escaping horrors like the Islamic State, but it has offered only comparative safety.

I should think that this was all part of the administrations decision to cut-and-run. Gotta do it quick, and just leave all that stuff, the cars, the computers, and the weapons behind. Hurry! Hurry!
Maybe Josh Earnest can clarify that portion of the plan, as I believe we were told that the cut-and-run was a planned event.
Don McKellar says
What is the grand tally right now for how many BILLIONS Obama has given in taxpayer weapons to fund jihad? ie: let slip out of US military control “mysteriously”. How much money is America now on the hook for in the Great Cause of Obama’s deferred jihad? Will there ever be a trial where the public actually learns what the hell is going on???

ARE YOU KIDDING?? Nobody wants to try and impeach Oslimo let alone try him for TREASON.
THAT IS EXCEPT MANY OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.
But who are we to say how this country should be run.
This makes me ill.
Makes me more ill when I hear “Obama is the greatest president we ever had”. These people are deaf, dumb, blind, retarded and morally empty.

……………………………..
This is hardly the only time this has happened. ISIS has picked up American weaponry and other equipment left behind by the fleeing Iraqi army; huge amounts of weaponry has gone missing in Afghanistan and turned up with the Taliban, this seems to have been everything from corrupt locals to the “government”; the same has happened in Pakistan; weaponry intended for (largely fictional) “moderate” rebels in Libya has turned up with Al Qaida; the same has happened with weaponry in Syria…
And that does not even count the weapons funneled to Jihadists brought with American money earmarked for “foreign aid”.
We are unwittingly funding our own destruction. Madness, and suicidal madness.

All weapons and money sent from over here to over there, will eventually, if not immediately melt into the background of jihad. They end up with our money and our stuff, and then use it against us…This is not a good path, but it is the one that Rasool Obama and Imam John bin Kerry have set us on…

What’s the matter with the pentagon and other agencies that they can’t keep track of anything anymore. Maybe Obama just told them to send it to our enemy. We really need to get someone in the Pentagon that can keep track of everything.

How does the Pentagon lose track of $500 million dollars worth of property owned by the American people.
It does not belong to the Pentagon, it belongs to the American people. Somebody has got to answer for this! This was by design. Just like all the other dirty deeds of this administration, the treachery continues!

I returned from Camp Leatherneck in June of 2014 and while there I saw the DRMO compound sawing up perfectly good MRAP vehicles ($400-800,000/per unit) because we couldn’t get them out of AFG and we certainly weren’t leaving them for the ANA. DoD was getting .07 cents a pound for scrap metal. Funny, eh?

Here’s an idea. How about they use some of that gps chip technology on weapons and track the weapons. If they have been “lost’ to terrorists, you will know exactly where those terrorists are.
