Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Saudis order imams to preach against Yemeni Shia as “enemies of Islam”

Mar 29, 2015 7:27 pm By Robert Spencer

Saudi mosqueBecause branding one’s foes “enemies of Islam” is the quicket and surest way to get the rank and file riled up. Sunni-Shi’ite Jihad Update: “Saudi Arabia Enlists Imams In Yemen War,” Vocativ, March 29, 2015:

The Saudi Arabian government sent memos to mosques across the country this week ordering religious leaders to use their sermons to create fear about the Iranian-backed rebels in Yemen as a way to build support for the Saudi-led bombing campaign there.

The country’s top imams responded by doing just that in their all-important Friday addresses to their followers. Their speeches often quoted directly from the Ministry of Islamic Affairs’ memo, which referred to the Shiite Houthi rebels in Yemen as “enemies of Islam” and “terrorists.”

Vocativ discovered the document, its trafficking and the general reaction to it by analyzing the social media of Saudis discussing the issue on Facebook and Twitter.

The Saudi ministry asked Imams to emphasize how the Gulf States must fight against the Houthi rebels in order to save Yemen and its people from “the Houthi aggression and oppression.” The memo highlighted the violent methods used by Iranian-backed rebels to conquer large swaths of Yemen, including killing civilians and destroying mosques and Islamic institutes.

The Friday prayer is the most important religious event of the week, and since the early days of Islam, the Friday sermons have been a traditional platform for spreading messages from the khalif, or Islamic leader. After the Friday sermons this week, the government’s document started circulating on Saudi forums and social media groups. The document itself matches up with the sermons, which were widely quoted by Saudi media, showing that Saudi Imams literally repeated the government’s prescribed talking points word for word….

The Islamic rulers have always controlled Allah, rather than the reverse. Mohammed showed the way by pulling up revelations-on-demand whenever he needed to force people to do his will…Allah never disagreed with Mohammed. Curiously suspicious.

It worked for Mohammed, for the caliphs and now Islamic dictators and despots demand Allah to support them, no matter how corrupt.

Maybe ‘Allah’ is showing all Muslims how deluded they actually are to believe this incoherent, amoral rubbish.

Hopefully the whole Sunni/Shia hatefest that is now exploding will last for many years. The West need not get involved at all, apart from securing the Northern (Kurdistan) and Western (Jordan) boundaries. Anywhere South and East is fair game. The West need not waste one single life in the coming years. The result: IS will erode Iran’s economy in Iraq to the point of the latter’s economic collapse. IS is doing our work for us.

“As for the warring Arab Islamic sects, they are set to continue to battle one another, with ready foreign help, over the ruins of the countries once known as Iraq and Syria. This war is just beginning. Any attempts to portray either of the warring sides as “anti-terrorist” or “pro-western” should be stubbornly resisted. Acceptance of such definitions is the entry hall to new policy failures and wasted lives. ISIL and the Quds Force differ in organizational structure, but are similarly anti-western — and similarly vile. They should be left to bleed one another white.”‬

Agreed. The west should not get involved with this islamic civil war, nor any other islamic civil wars, except limited interventions solely for the purpose to safeguarding non-Islamic population. However, wealthy gulf states have a habit of paying western armies as mercenaries to fight their wars. It must be said though that the present relationship between the obama administration and many wealthy gulf states precludes that possibility – unless US energy security is threatened. Without the US, no other western countries, including the uk and France, would commit to any meaningful deployment of their respective forces. The next best thing for these gulf states to do is to buy more western munitions and hardware and escalate their conflict with iran until one side is economically, physically and/or mentally exhausted.

This is all good, muslims killing muslims. Great for Israel, now that Saudi Arabia is on Israel’s side against Iran. Saudi newspapers openly praise Bibi. The enemey of my enemy is my friend.

“…branding one’s foes “enemies of Islam” is the quicket and surest way to get the rank and file riled up”

With the increasing education of Muslims, it’s not certain how much longer this strategy will be successful. Many young Muslims are declaring themselves agnostic and non-observant in Egypt…as many as 25%, I believe. The same will happen all over the Muslim world, I suspect.

In about 2000 years from now. That’s how long it will take Muslims to evolve to the level of some tolerance. At the rate they have been evolving we can’t wait until they do because too many non Muslims will be killed and too many western countries will be ruined by neverending influx of “refugees”. Then, they will start on us.
We must act now, protect the non Muslims and get rid of what Muslims we have.
I know, I know, it’s only a dream. Our shario complient governments will never let it happen.

I believe many of the muzzies that came to the West in the 60s and 70s were pretty lukewarm in their observance. Perversely it is the third generation that are the majority of raging, frothing lunatics. A combination of imported imams, gang culture and multiculti ideologies that have stripped Western countries of their cultures and sense of individualism is to blame.

Yes, also they were not in sufficient numbers to be a problem. Now they are and we can see that it was a mistake ot let any of them in.
Back in the 60s the Turks in Australia were given two year visas only and had to go back after that time. If only they let it stay that way.

does Ms Rezali, an observant Shia, have any comments about this article and will she still encourage us to become a muslim- if so, which one should we become-Shia or Sunni?

Looks like Sunni at the moment. But hold your horses. Soon you will find that there is a sect in the Sunni that is more pure Islamic than the rest. I advise you to join them instead!

Ran across an interesting, if lengthy and dated, article at Modern Ghana News: Arab’s Mortal Hatred and Enslavement of the Black Race by Naiwu Osahon? Told me things about Gadhafi I didn’t know about. Also get Slavery, Terrorism and Islam by Peter Hammond. (you won’t regret it) And his Holocaust in Rwanda if you’ve got the stomach for it.

Of course, due to Islam’s oral tradition, warnings about the Houthis being the enemies of Islam might become a little garbled.

“Hooters are the enemy of Islam! Pass it on.”

    Clowns!

  9. Mulakush says

Once the cycle of hate is started, there is no end to it. So far it was the non-muslims who were the infidels and target for looting, murder and rape. Now it is the less pure muslims who are the targets. So one half is against the other half and is already reported to have murdered so many of the less pure variety. Soon it will be the purer quarter who will gain ascendance and start killing the less pure of the purer half. And so on.

The politics involved are pretty interesting, and they don’t involve a neat Sunni-Shiite split.

(Sunni) Saudi Arabia obviously views (Shiite) Iran as its number-one enemy, particularly in light of the willingness of the US to allow Iran to have a pathway to nuclear weapons. So, Saudi Arabia is unwilling to allow an Iran ally (Yemen) close to its borders.

But, Saudi Arabia is also threatened by Sunni ISIS and Sunni Muslim Brotherhood. The reason is that both ISIS and the MB are a bit TOO radical (fundamentalist) and consider the Saudi ruling class as being too comfortable, too accommodating to non-Muslims, and in need of replacement.

If you look at a map, a Shiite, Iran-backed Yemen would represent a pincers movement against Saudi Arabia, with Iranian-controlled, anti-ISIS militias on the north and Yemen on the south. Saudi Arabia may tolerate some Iran-affiliated entity on its north, as a buffer against ISIS, but not on the south, where there is no other threat. In a sense, Yemen would be a dagger at Saudi Arabia’s back (think Hamas controlling Gaza in the case of Israel).

This would be a good time to get some agreements down with Saudi Arabia. It is in the interest of the US to remain (loosely) allied with Saudi Arabia, but this is a good time to nail down some agreements on the use of Saudi money now being used to subvert US institutions. We might also renegotiate the US bonds held by Saudi Arabia.

As for the Republicans supporting the ouster of Assad: they appear so stupid as to be beyond the reach of logic.

It is in the interest of the US to have many independent, viable states in the Middle East, all of them suspicious of the others. Both Iran and Iraq were much less of a threat to the US when they were facing each other. Israel, of course, would be the lynch pin of such a strategy. In fact, the destruction of Israel would be a major catastrophe, not just for the US, but for any near-stable regime in the area, such as Saudi Arabia. Israel, by following its own interests independent of the US, ensures that no other state in the area becomes predominantly powerful. The Obama administration is on the verge of throwing away that huge benefit because of a few apartments built on lands not covered by so-called international law or treaties anyway.
