Shhhh! “Talk about extreme, militant Islamists and the atrocities that they have perpetrated globally might undercut the positive achievements that we Catholics have attained in our inter-religious dialogue with devout Muslims.” — Robert McManus, Roman Catholic Bishop of Worcester, Massachusetts, February 8, 2013
“Pastor in South Sudan Jailed, Lashed after Radical Muslims Threaten Him,” Morning Star News, March 27, 2015:
JUBA, South Sudan (Morning Star News) – A Sudanese pastor in South Sudan was jailed and tortured for more than three months after Islamists who tried to kill him accused him of being a spy, sources said.
Adam Haron, a 37-year-old convert from Islam and a native of West Darfur, Sudan, said Muslim extremists called him on Nov. 9 and 10 threatening to kill him if he continued to proclaim Christ among Muslims in Aweil, near the Sudanese border. Pastor of a church in an undisclosed area of South Sudan, Haron had gone to Aweil, about 800 kilometers (500 miles) northwest of the capital city of Juba, to plant a church.
Evangelism is not illegal in South Sudan, where Christians outnumber Muslims, and the Transitional Constitution following the country’s secession from Sudan in 2011 guarantees religious freedom, including the right to propagate one’s faith.
Haron said he knew the Muslims who threatened him as they were from his home region of West Dafur. The following day they tried to kill him when a Land Cruiser with no license plate nearly ran him over, he said.
Haron, who came to South Sudan in 2010 after converting to Christianity in 2005, said that three days later six armed men, including three in military uniform, entered his hotel room in Aweil and started to search his personal bag and laptop and scattered his clothes around. They also took his cell phone.
As the armed men ordered him to get into their car, they began kicking his legs and groin, he said.
“Thank God, who protected me from serious injury from them,” he said.
One of assailants took out a pistol, pointed it at Haron’s head, and asked him if he was a Christian pastor. He answered, “Yes, I am a pastor,” and they took him to a detention center in Aweil, he said.
Haron said the three men in uniform were military intelligence personnel. Based on a military officer’s interrogation of him, he concluded that the radical Muslims had the military personnel arrest him after falsely accusing him of being a spy for Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir’s National Congress Party.
On Nov. 15, two soldiers gave him 364 lashes using a tree branch as a whip, he said.
“We will beat you every Saturday in this way,” one of them told him during the lashing.
Haron told Morning Star News he was encouraged because he was considered worthy to suffer for his faith and replied, “I am ready to die for the sake of the gospel.”
They threw him into a narrow cell, his legs bound with chains, he said. On Jan. 3 he was transferred to another jail cell. He was released on Feb. 18.
In the course of his incarceration, those who arrested Haron stole 2,600 South Sudanese Pounds (US$820) from him, he said.
Haron, who pastors an underground church made up primarily of converts from Islam, said he was gratified that the mistreatment tested his faith.
“This detention has been a great encouragement to my spiritual life,” he said.

Muslims have a duty to kill under Sharia law.

I had the privilege of interacting with some guys from [now] South Sudan who had been put through sheer hell by Islamic fanatics. Families massacred, villages razed, concentration camps where they were forced to learn Arabic on starvation rations, years in the bush, and on and on. In fact many of them and their families are still displaced. They were some of the most gracious and kind people I’d ever met, with Herculean work ethics, and they expressed that this almost unbelievable kindness was a manifestation of their Christianity. I wish more people were familiar with their story and had the opportunity to meet them, they were remarkable. I’m not surprised by this man’s magnanimity at all, although I’m just as awed of it now as I was back then…

Can one petition the RCC to defrock idiots like bishop McManus or are they better off celibate (not breeding more idiots)?

Lia, The ‘tone’ of the church comes from the top. Unfortunately, Pope Francis is on the side of ‘liberation theology’. He seems to believe the ‘Islam means peace’ crap. ‘Islam’ means ‘submission’, but who is going to tell that to Francis? And who get that thought into his brain and the brains of his closest advisors?
Most Leftards are not (to our great detriment)…are not reading Jihad Watch daily and seeing the images and reports of the Mohammedan atrocities and mind-boggling obtuseness that we see here every single day.

The Pope is a useful idiot, like many leftist Christians, clueless, spineless appeaser, that would rather sacrifice his people than offend Muslims. The Bishop is the same. The apple does not fall far from the tree. Many Christian spiritual leaders are clueless.

I knew one oft the lost boys of Sudan, Google that story if you have time it,s a fascinating one. We had an interesting conversation one day. He opened up a little since he could tell I was actually interested in the Sudan muslim genocide. He told me how armed muslims came into his village, and started executing people, and burning things. When they got to his house they raped his mother in front of him then killed her, and then killed his father right in front of him. It’s been so long,
I forget many of the details of his story, but I remember he said he escaped somehow. He ended up in Europe, and learned English, then came to the U.S. I do remember another part of his story he was telling me how he and a few others were being chased. I wish I had a clearer memory of the story he told me, it’s been quite awhile. Regardless his story of muslim brutality and hearing it from a first hand account, made me really sit up and take notice, just like 9/11 did. It’s one thing to see the images on T.V, but to actually sit and hear someone convey such a horrible story, has an even bigger impact. Instead of arming jihadists and supporting the muslim brotherhood, the U.S government should help out states like South Sudan, and Nigeria who are on the front lines of islamic warfare daily.

I have been praying and warning our new Government in the South Sudan about the danger of not learning a lesson from the 50 years of Sudan Islamic persecution of the Church that left 2 million dead 4.5 million displaced into exile. It is a matter of time, Islamic Terrorism, will take advantage of the looming chaos in the South Sudan and infiltrate South Sudan from the north Sudan and will cause countless destruction in this new country. The Pastors will be targeted, churches will be burned to the ground and Christians will suffer persecution. South Sudan has 1300 miles of porous border with the Sudan running from East to West. The current Islamic regime in Khartoum, having the widest border with the South Sudan is operating on Sharia law. It gives fertile ground for reigniting Islamic Caliphate movement in the Nile valley. This is dangerous. ISIS, Muslim brotherhood, Hezbollah, Boko Haram and Somali Al shabab and Al-Qaida who have caused horrendous destruction in Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, Tunisia, Algeria, Somali, Libya and Israel, the USA, EU, will soon begin to recruit South Sudanese Muslims and Muslims from the north to begin mounting attack inside South Sudan because they will want to seek their own Sharia compliance country within South Sudan. South Sudan is now embroiled in internal conflict within herself, leaving the country permanently fractured, economically defendant of the UN Socially engineered gender base control is a very dangerous place for a new country. So the only question is this, will the rest of us have the faith and faithfulness of Pastor Adam Haron? He was tortured for Christ and yet did not deny His name.

Your president is to blame. Not only did he plan the attack on Nuer people and set in train the current nightmare, but for all his time as “president” he has encouraged the growth of Islam in South Sudan, an utter betrayal of the people he is meant to represent. He is not likely to listen to any warning about Islam, considering the work he did for Khartoum in his early days with their army. What a disgrace he is.
I met a man in Juba who trained the evangelists who went to Darfur. There was not much success, but perhaps the conversion back to Christianity which has occurred in the region north of Wau has spread.
Of course Khartoum is waiting in the wings, if not already meddling. This article doesn’t say what uniforms the men were wearing…Salva’s people? They can’t be from Khartoum after such an accusation. What benefit would Salva get from this attack? It doesn’t make sense.
