Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

UK: New Islam museum hopes to offset image created by Islamic jihadis

Mar 28, 2015 7:10 pm By Robert Spencer

Islamic MuseumForget about the murders, the beheadings, the hostage-takings, the sex slavery, the jihad-martyrdom suicide attacks, the threats, the boasts of imminent conquest, the institutionalized oppression of women and non-Muslims, and the rest — just look at this calligraphy!

More of the endless attempts by the British intelligentsia to compel the British people not to be concerned about jihad, Sharia and Islamization: “New UK museum to help develop image of Islam,” Reuters, March 28, 2015:

Art from the Islamic world will be shown in the heart of the British Museum, instead of on the sidelines, in two new galleries funded by a Malaysian foundation which hopes to offset the image created by Islamic militants.

The museum, which houses one of the world’s largest collections of art and artefacts, said on Thursday it plans to open two new galleries in its south wing devoted to its extensive collection of art from the Islamic world.

Until now works from the collection have been displayed in a gallery tucked away on the north side of the massive building, a long walk from the main entrance.

The two new galleries, which will complement the existing gallery, are being funded for an undisclosed amount by the Albukhary Foundation of Malaysia.

Syed Mokhtar Albukhary, the foundation’s chairman, said there was an urgent need to make people more aware of the value of art and artefacts from the Islamic world, and the threats to this cultural heritage, especially at a time when historic sites in Iraq are under attack by militants of the Islamic State.

“What is happening in the world, demolishing all the Islamic heritage, non-Islamic antiquities, is a bad image,” he said.

“The British Museum … has been building this collection, without them we would not have any history,” he added.

The decision followed what the museum said was the extraordinary success of its 2012 exhibition “Hajj: journey to the heart of Islam” which director Neil MacGregor said had attracted almost 150,000 visitors.
“There was clearly a huge hunger in the public in Britain to know more about the cultures of the Islamic world,” MacGregor told a news conference. “That started us thinking very hard about the importance about thinking about the Islamic world in this way.”…

What will it contain? A collection of severed hands, heads and clitorises. It will be like a walk through the garden of human butchery.

    I think I’ll pass. Thanks.

Of course, the fallacy that’s being perpetrated here is that all this great stuff happened *because* of Islam rather than despite it.

Then we have the expression of the shame-based culture that avoiding shame is more important than avoiding guilt.

No need to understand anything about underlying cultural assumptions or what their effects are on human survival and suffering. Everyone will just pretend that cultural literacy means learning about only the most superficial cultural differences while pretending that everyone must have exactly the same underlying cultural assumptions with exactly the same effects.

Likely a multitude of pattern repititions with scattered Arabic texts extolling Islam. Probably a little short in the faces, people, animals, or natural landscapes department. One would not want to idolize life when the ideal is death, after all.

What futility! …are they going to rewrite history and give muhammad a makeover, too? Sorry, but you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. Not gonna happen.

Besides, islamic jihadists are following their prophets evil example, so you aren’t fooling me with your …museum. The only people you’re going to fool are the sheeple that believe the lie that islam is a religion of peace; and boy, there sure are a lot of sheeple ready to be fooled and devour that rotten filth.

Well, images of actual things are prohibited in Islam, so I don’t expect any pictures. Old, pre-unified Koranic texts are Haram, so I don’t expect any of that. Islamic Jurisprudence is well documented and it revolts most western readers. Artifacts depicting anything are considered idolatrous, so I don’t expect that either.

Knowing what isn’t likely to be there, I have to wonder what will the museum have in it.

    *Grimly hilarious*—and all too true.

    ……………………………….

What albukhary will not tell you is that in all but a few cases the art and artifacts in danger are just “Jahillya”—the work of “filthy Infidels”. To imply that the greatest danger is Islamic work is just more false victim-mongering.

    More:

“What is happening in the world, demolishing all the Islamic heritage, non-Islamic antiquities, is a bad image,” he said.
    ……………………………….

Notice he doesn’t actually say that demolishing non-Islamic antiquities is a bad thing—just that it makes Islam look bad.

Why not learn about the fascinating customs of your Muslim overlords?

But don’t expect to learn about the wonders of the Hajj up close and personal—no filthy Infidels allowed in Mecca!

Perhaps you might be interested in “reverting”?

MacGregor told a news conference. “That started us thinking very hard about the importance about thinking about the Islamic world in this way.”…

Narrated Said bin Abu Al-Hasan: While I was with Ibn ‘Abbas a man came and said, “O father of ‘Abbas! My sustenance is from my manual profession and I make these pictures.” Ibn ‘Abbas said, “I will tell you only what I heard from Allah’s Apostle (Peace and blessings be upon him). I heard him saying, ‘Whoever makes a picture will be punished by Allah till he puts life in it, and he will never be able to put life in it.’ “Hearing this, that man heaved a sigh and his face turned pale. Ibn ‘Abbas said to him, “What a pity! If you insist on making pictures I advise you to make pictures of trees and any other unanimated objects.” [Bukhari 3:428]

    Landscape paintings containing no animals?

A display of art from the Islamic World containing no Islamic art?

Will it be declared Takfir/Kafir and destroyed or is this the first petal of a moderate flowering Islam?

We have a WHOLE Islamic museum here in Victoria; itopened last year and full of nonsense. I was disgusted when the Federal Government gave them about a million dollars towards it , and even more disgusted when they followed it up this year with another half-million and lots of fawning words. What, do they get half a million dollars every year? They had plenty of foreign money and dodgy local money to set it up, but as usual when it comes to Islam, the taxpayer has to contribute…nothing besides mosques doesn’t get taxpayers’ money

Contrast this with the long held animosity towards the British Museum for looting the Third World during the British days as a primary Colonial Power, [cf: Sykes-Picot] including Malaya as one of their colonies, not to mention their colonial hold over other vast Muslim areas of Central and West Asia.

In that era, the Brits claimed they were acting as conservators.

    • Jeanette says

      Mar 29, 2015 at 1:22 pm

Antiquities taken by the British took remains undemolished by Muslims, so far. That can’t be said about the antiquities that were left in what are now Muslim-dominated areas.

The question is, will the Muslim-loving British elite allow the Muslims in Great Britain to destroy those antiquities?

Actually, there is a huge hunger in the British public to never hear or see anything or anyone related to Islam ever again.

I think a few leaflets distributed around this exhibition are required; ones that explain the truth about this barbaric and evil cult.

      • dumbledoresarmy says

        Mar 29, 2015 at 9:24 am

Leaflets would be an *excellent* idea.

Above, Westman posted a hadith from Bukhari (3.428) inveighing against the makers of pictures of living beings.

There is a lot of other similar ugly material – all of it normative Islam – that could be put on leaflets together with examples from contemporary fatwas and contemporary and recent history showing how Muslims have treated artists and artwork, musicians and musical instruments. Piece de resistance: photographs of the blowing up of the Bamiyan Buddhas, and stills from the Islamic State video of the smashing of priceless antiquities in an Iraqi Museum.

      • Jeanette says

        Mar 29, 2015 at 1:24 pm

It is the elite in western countries who are so anxious to force Islam down the throats of their own non-Muslim populations.

A hunger to know Islamic culture?
