Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Australia: Muslims plotted Islamic State-inspired jihad attack; Victoria Premier says they’re “not people of faith”

Apr 18, 2015 6:56 am By Robert Spencer

Daniel AndrewsVictorian Premier Daniel Andrews said: “These people arrested today are not people of faith, they don’t represent any culture. This is not an issue of how you pray or where you were born. This is not about those issues.” In saying that, he was signaling that even when Muslims plot to commit mass murder in the name of Islam on one of Australia’s most important national days, Australian authorities are going to stay their disastrous course: they’re going to continue to pretend that jihad terror has nothing to do with Islam, and that importing large numbers of Muslim immigrants is simply a humanitarian issue with no national security implications whatsoever. Daniel Andrews could just as well have said, “These people arrested today represent a problem we dare not confront. So get used to it, because there are going to be plenty more plots like this one.”

“Men arrested in Melbourne over alleged ‘ISIS-inspired’ Anzac Day terrorist plot,” ABC.net.au, April 18, 2015 (thanks to Graham):

Counterterrorism police have alleged two of the five men they arrested in an operation in Melbourne this morning were planning an Islamic State-inspired terrorist attack on an Anzac Day ceremony.

Sevdet Besim, 18, of Hallam, has been charged with conspiring to commit a terrorist act and appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court….

A second man, 18, from Hampton Park, was also arrested on terrorism-related offences this morning during a major joint counterterrorism team operation.

A third man was arrested for weapons offences and two other men were in custody assisting police with their enquiries, after seven search warrants were executed.

Three of the five men arrested were injured in the operation.

One suffered a head wound and another resisted arrest.

Capsicum spray was used to subdue the men.

The Australian Federal Police said they believed the two 18-year-olds were plotting an attack to take place on Anzac Day.

Victoria Police Deputy Commissioner Shane Patton said it was believed the attacks were to have involved the use of “edged knives”.

“It is alleged both men were undertaking preparations for a terrorist attack at an Anzac Day activity in Melbourne which included targeting police officers,” he said.

AFP Acting Deputy Commissioner Neil Gaughan described the plot as being inspired by Islamic State (IS).

“At this stage we have no information that it was a planned beheading. But there was reference to an attack on police,” he told a news conference in Melbourne.

“Some evidence that was collected at a couple of the scenes and some other information we have leads us to believe that this particular matter was ISIS-inspired.”…

The ABC understands that a number of the arrested men attended the Al Furqan Islamic study centre in South Springvale and were associates of Abdul Numan Haider, who also attended the centre.

Haider was shot and killed by counterterrorism police in September last year.

AFP Acting Deputy Commissioner Neil Gaughan said members of the community should not feel anxious.

“At this stage we’re comfortable that we have this threat fully contained,” he said….

You don’t have this threat remotely close to contained.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said the alleged terrorist plot was “simply evil, plain and simple”.

He said Victorians needed to take the threats seriously but never be “defined by them”.

“These people arrested today are not people of faith, they don’t represent any culture,” he said.

“This is not an issue of how you pray or where you were born. This is not about those issues.

“Together with Victoria Police, Commonwealth law enforcement and intelligence agencies, the Victorian Government continues to take reasonable and necessary steps to keep every Victorian safe.”…

‘Simply evil’??? who is he trying to kid? He’s been watching too much Austin Powers – the real world does not have any ‘Dr Evils’ in it who are motivated to do evil for the sake of it pure and simple – when people plot to do vile things on this scale it is because they are motivated by a violent evil ideology. These people themselves consistently say that they are motivated by a faith that tells them to do these destructive acts; they do the destructive acts; and politicians keep saying it’s nothing to do with their faith. In what fantasy land do they live where anything that counts as a faith is all lovey dovey and nice? In what fantasy land are all cultures by definition all equally compatible with tolerant western liberal values – and any that aren’t are ‘not real cultures’ ???
These views are at root incredibly imperialist, because far from recognising the diversity of faiths, ideologies, and cultures, such a view insists that really, all faiths, ideologies and cultures are ‘really’ like ours. It’s crap. I can beat this out of the students I teach in two minutes of explanation. Why do these moron politicians fail to get it?

I don’t think that he’s stupid but he is scared. Politicians are all scared of Muslims and would rather put us all in danger than take the heat themselves.
He knows that if he says anything else he will get death threats and will need protection forever, just like Geert Wilders and Salman Rushdie.
Short of deporting all Muslims back to their countries we have no sulution. No politician is willing to do that and knows that he/she will always be in danger if anything negative is said about Islam.
I think the UN and Amnesty International should be ignored and house cleaning commenced. All we need is a fearles leader.

It seems like the politicians are puppets being told what to do by a higher power and whatever they do don’t tell the public the truth about Islam .It is like their is a worldwide plot to let Islam take over the world the powers that be cannot be this stupid it has to be intentional perhaps they think they can have complete control over the world if there is one religion no one can escape?

What faith is that? The pious don’t need any faith…They have Allah, his book and the examples of Mahound…’Faith’ is not required…Blind belief and a willingness to take action, is all that is needed by the pious…Well that, and a prayer rug, and maybe some explosives…

It is good to know (thank you Mr. Spencer J. W.)that the Australian Federal Police were able to stop this “jihad” with knives… Although P.M. Andrews is appearing to confuse the matter and trying to separate a “terrorist plot with knives” who attend a Al Furque mosque” from a Muslim issue he may just be trying to calm his citizens. But the chatter in the country I am sure is around the coffee tables. If this news gets published or is in Australia media, especially the comment about not being sure if the plot involved using their knives to behead people a few people will say Holi #$%^&% what is going on here.

  5. Marco Elliott says

    Apr 18, 2015 at 10:52 am

Underbedcat, Daniel Andrews is PREMIER of Victoria; and long may he stay there. He is not Prime Minister if that is what you meant by P.M. That title belongs to the Head of the Federal Government of Australia, and is currently Mr Tony Abbott. Whilst Victorians are free to manage their own affairs as they see fit, we can only hope that the rest of us are spared the delusional likes of Daniel Andrews in our state governments.

However, Andrews is really no better or worse than most of the Australian population who have generally swallowed the “islam equals peace” lie touted by the muslim community both in Australia and internationally.

The simple truth is that Australian politicians and most public authorities, state and federal, are afraid of the violent, murderous, decapitating, imperialist, animal torturers funded by oil rich dictatorships. Not to mention the fear of being called xenophobic, racist or islamophobic. Australia is usually well behind in social/political trends in Europe and the USA. It is thus now that we see the beginning of the denial based sellout by the “ruling class”, most journalists, the chatterati and the “intellectuals” – all of whom know the “truth” about peaceful islam because they have a muslim mate who is the nicest bloke (guy) you could meet. Of course, a few years ago Australian trendoids would not have known the difference between a muslim and a snake in the grass…..and they still don’t know there is no difference!

It would be interesting to ask Andrews about the prison statistics in Victoria. It is claimed that muslims constitute about 2% of the general population while providing about 7% of the state’s prison inmates.

Follow Barak Obama’s lead? You mean provide health care and education for all your citizens? Oh. I’m sorry, you must be a bit behind the times. Australia’s present Federal Government is a conservative party. They are cutting funding to education and health care. They are cutting services and funding to the country regions of Australia. So in that way, they are following your conservatives, Bush, Cheney etc.

  7. The ministry of truth from Orwell says

    Apr 18, 2015 at 3:56 pm

Daniel Andrews, the premier that paid over 600 million to NOT build a road, knows his doublespeak well. The Ministry of Truth is really telling you lies as he feel hiding the truth from you is good for you. Eventually someone will have to have the courage to speak the truth. It won’t be Andrews. He is another Orwellian nightmare.

“These people arrested today are not people of faith, they don’t represent any culture. This is not an issue of how you pray or where you were born. This is not about those issues.”

Not one word in these sentences is honest. He knows it is about faith, he knows the attack represents the muslim “culture”… and he knows it is about praying and worshipping their Allah…but he will tell you otherwise. He is doing the devil’s work.

The old PC speech is an attempt to hose down a simmering fire sitting in the bellies of Aussies. Politicians and Police’s real fear is an event like this will give rise to a civil war in Australia. The Cronulla Riots were a prelude to what will happen on a much larger scale. Cronulla was very close to getting out of hand, Police simply do not have the resources to contain a much larger event. Forget what the talking heads are saying in public as behind closed doors they are very aware of the problem we are facing. Negative criticism regarding Tony Abbot abounds over here, like him or loathe him but his party has been the most pro-active in a few political cycles about addressing the issue. God help us if another Julia Gilliard type gets elected and the ‘asylum seeker’ tap is turned on again. I too wish someone in power with balls would call a spade a spade but again the real fear is not offending muslims but sparking Aussies into action.

Get into the real world one term Andrews. Andrews has previous history when it comes to such dumb arse commentary. After the Sydney siege last December in which two innocent people were slain by a ISIS inspired terrorist, Daniel Andrews stupidly proclaimed then that attack had nothing to do with Islam despite all the evidence supporting the opposite. The perpetrator was found to be a proven religious maniac of the Islamic kind

For those not familiar with Australian politics it is the Australian Labor Party which Andrews represents that have for long been the leading proponents of muslim immigration to our country and who frequently apologise and attempt to cover up for this disruptive religious group who refuse to assimilate into the Australian way of life. Any critics of Islam are usually labelled by the unpatriotic Australian Labor, Party , Andrews included as being Islamaphobic,, bigots and racists.

It would then come as no surprise that Labor attract as much as 80% of the muslim vote in this country

Thanks for that information, Infidel from downunder, though I am not surprised by what you wrote. The modern left in one Western nation after another has lost its collective mind. Unfortunately, while the modern right far better understands the truth of things than does the modern left, much of it has lost its collective guts. Not a good recipe for the survival of liberty, respecting which Islam is a mortal enemy of. Dumbed down and timid Westerners are a boon to Islam’s designs on the West. Damn shame.

Heaven help anyone with vision or courage or a spark of creativity… they get shot down real quick. Simpleton Andrews is the exemplar of the deracinated bozo nice guy

    He’s an idiot.
    It’s Islam alright.

One of the Mohammedan plotters, so far as I can deduce from the various reports I’ve read, was of Afghan background. Presumably his family came here as ‘refugees’ with a long and piteous sob story. And we believed them and let them in…more fool us. Ditto one of the others, Harun Causevic, whose name has a Balkan-sounding ring – possibly Albanian or Serbian; I’d hazard the guess that *that* family were let in as “refugees” too, after jihad broke out in the Balkans. We let in a bunch of poor ‘persecuted’ Muslims…and now they, or their children, are plotting to murder us. Another of the plotters had a Turkish-sounding name – Sevdet Besim.

So: people of different ethnicities, different language backgrounds, from parts of the world whose pre-Islamic cultures were wildly different. And yet: there they all are, plotting to kill infidel Aussies, just like the various jihad verses in the Quran and other Islamic texts encourage them to do.

Here’s one of the latest reports: all about how one of the plotters became so much more pious and nice – nice, that is, toward his fellow Muslims, his Muslim family of origin – and ‘calm’, after he joined the Al Furqan ‘prayer room’ (which, frankly, should have been shut down and razed to the ground long ago).

    http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-04-19/counterterrorism-raids-suspect-a-changed-man-father-says/6404266

What the foolish ABC reporter just doesn’t “get” is that when previously lax or indifferently-practising Muslims get religion, when they pray more and become more pious and grow their beards, etc, this is usually a very bad thing for any Infidels in the vicinity.

The Albanian community here in Australia has been in Australia for many decades. Most are NOT refugees as is alleged by the above poster “dumbledoresarmy”. Those that are came after 1999 from the Kosovo conflict. Their number here is small. The Albanians in the Shepparton area are from the Korca region in Albania and came out between the 1920s-1940s. The next group, the Prespa Albanians came from the Lake Prespa region of today’s Macedonia during the late 1950s-early 1980s(majority came out in late 1960s-1970s). They are very integrated, like the Korca Albanians and barely religious if at all apart from celebrating the important religious holidays.. Small groups of Albanians from the Struga region and from Kosovo and other parts of the former Yugoslavia arrived int between the 1970s and 1980s. The next biggest group, however came out from the Bitola region of Macedonia (mainly the villages of Kisava, Ostrec and a few others) and settled in the suburbs of Dandynong and a few like Besim’s family in Springvalle. They too are very integrated in wider Australian society. Albanians in Melbourne, own businesses, are hard working and some have tertiary education. Mosque attendance by Albanians is very, very low. My cousin Qemal is the imam of Prespa Albanian mosque in the suburb of Resevoir and sometimes mentions that few Albanians frequent the mosque (apart from some older men, and its more a place for them to socialize after prayers then anything else, as Prespa Albanians are spread out and not concentrated in Melbourne). Actually it is non-Albanians who make up the majority of the attendees. My cousin is a very moderate imam and from time to time has given sermons after prayers about issues of extremism being bad, and he has condemned such extremist actions. Yet no (media) attention gets payed to Qemal, or leadership from the community at this moment. Media has not bothered to talk to community representatives. Now people of Albanian heritage are going to get tarnished with the brush that we are “extremists”. What has happened with regards to Besimi has come has a great shock to the community at large. Many are saying what went wrong. Albanians here in Australia, like their counterparts in the USA and other parts of Europe are pro-western (yes they are Muslim, but religion does not influence life). I urge when making commentary not to tarnish in one brush all people. Being of Albanian heritage does not make one an extremist. These were arguments used by Serbs and Greeks throughout the twentieth century to justify their violent actions and repression against Albanians.
