Over at Breitbart, Pamela Geller and I unveil the contenders for the People’s Choice award in our Muhammad Cartoon Contest:
Our American Freedom Defense Initiative’s Muhammad Art Exhibit and Cartoon Contest will be held on May 3 in the Dallas area to show that we will defend free speech and not give in to violent intimidation. We have received over 350 submissions of Muhammad cartoons from all over the world, and now we are throwing open the voting on the best of these to you. You and voters worldwide will choose the winner of the People’s Choice Award.
The winning cartoon will be announced at the May 3 cartoon exhibit in Garland, and the winning cartoonist will be awarded a $10,000 prize. The People’s Choice Award winner will receive $2,500. You can vote in the comments here, at PamelaGeller.com, JihadWatch.org, and on a special Facebook album containing the best entries.
As we gear up for our Exhibit, the forces of evil are mobilizing en masse. An Iranian Holocaust cartoon contest has drawn 839 entries from over 300 artists, including entries from France, Turkey, and Brazil. We need to make a similar show of strength for what is right and righteous.
The keynote speaker at our Texas event will be Dutch freedom fighter and Parliamentarian Geert Wilders – one of the very few politicians on the international scene who dares the speak the truth about the jihadist threat. Also speaking will be both of us, and other freedom fighters. The cartoon exhibit will feature images of Islam’s prophet, both historic and contemporary.
The exhibit will be held at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland on Sunday, May 3. This was the site of a Muslim conference denouncing “Islamophobia” — an obscene stand for them to take after the Charlie Hebdo massacre — and our massive Free Speech Rally outside that event. The Muslim event was held in a hall owned by the local school district. When asked why they allowed that event on their premises, they answered that their hall was open to anyone who wished to rent it. So we are renting it for our Muhammad Cartoon Exhibit.
The Cartoon Exhibit was a logical next step following AFDI’s Free Speech Rally in Garland. This new event will stand for free speech and show that Americans will not be cowed by violent Islamist intimidation. That is a crucial stand to take as Islamist assaults on the freedom of speech, our most fundamental freedom, are growing more insistent.
After the Charlie Hebdo massacre — and after the violent Muhammad cartoon riots a few years ago — there should have been Cartoon Exhibits all over the free world, to show the jihadists and their stealth allies (in groups that are doing all they can to intimidate the West into abandoning the freedom of speech) that we will not kowtow to violent intimidation. But there were no such exhibits. The free world was ready to submit. But we aren’t. We know the risks. Of course, this event will require massive security. But this exhibit has to be staged. If we don’t show the jihadists that they will not frighten us into silence, the jihad against freedom will only grow more virulent.
And we hope that this event will give others the courage to stand up as well and show the world that they aren’t going to submit to intimidation. Otherwise, it is no exaggeration to say that all will be lost.
The West has to stop this pathetic cowardice and submission to barbarity. Islamists have to stop imposing repression on the non-Muslim and secular Muslim world. Enough is enough. They’re just cartoons. Are we going to stand idle while psychopaths who would commit murder because of them frighten the free world into giving up the freedom of speech, the cornerstone of a free society?
It’s time to stand up.
Stand with us against violent intimidation: get tickets here.

Are the 300 or so cartoons on a site where they can be viewed?

I have been made victorious with terror #1
Teri says
I vote for the clown juggling heads. Will this be annual? Will like to participate in the next contest.
FarmerMike says
Yup! I, too, find the clown on the unicycle most comical. Of the limited number displayed. Would be good to see the whole 300 or so range.
WhatsUpDoc says
Ha ha, some great work from great artists
will says
I vote for the one labeled : Truth..
They are all great.
Always On Watch says
I vote for “You can’t draw me!”/”That’s why I draw you.”
Love Bosch Fawstin’s work!
gravenimage says
Yes—I’m glad to see Bosch Fawstin’s work here, as well.
Demsci says
Me too! The drawing itself is superb. And the idea behind is in brilliant. If Musims tell Muslims not to draw Mohammed, Muslims should live by that rule in Islam.
But this drawing shows the protest of a Western Democratic Citizen, who practices, but also accepts, full freedom of speech, with NO EXCEPTIONS.
Tamara says
Out of the ones shown here I would vote for the third one, the one with Mo on a unicycle.
Linde Barrera says
The cartoons within this article are all superb. But the one that speaks volumes to me is “I have been made victorious with terror”. Good luck and God’s blessings to all the artists, Robert Spencer, Pamela Geller, security, reception and all workers involved.
Tamara says
I could not see them well enough to read the speech bubbles and small writing on my phone but looking at them on my desktop I can appreciate that these are all really good entries, very clever! Thank you to all of the artists and to Robert and Pamela, the organizers for being so courageous and standing up for our fundamental freedom of expression!!
Artie Galvin says
I vote for , ” I have been made victorious with terror”.
Amy says
While the display of it here does not do it justice (the rest of the graphics display in a much larger format when you click on them; his doesn’t), Fawstin’s is the best.
gravenimage says
They are all good, but I vote for Bosch Fawstin’s piece. The drawing is excellent, and the caption is brilliant!
boakai ngombu says
most pregnant with meaning to me is “spawn” (mad sugar)
William says
I vote for “you can’t draw me.”
mortimer says
Yeah, many thanks to the artists for putting their lives on the line!
They are our heroes. They would rather die on their feet than live on their knees.
More Ham Ed says
Is “Jihadi Appleseed” one of the final ones this time around, or is that just a previously known cover photo for the overall article. I would vote for “Jihadi Appleseed” it seems to be the most creative one.
ApolloSpeaks says
IF I COULD DRAW THIS WOULD BE MY PICTURE
The Prophet in the burning desert mounted on a swift black steed raising his blood stained sword to heaven and crying out to unbelievers: Believe in me or die! Believe in me or die! And if it pleases me to let you live I’ll crush you with oppression!
Now if I wanted to be amusing the picture wouldn’t pass the censors.

The West has to stop this pathetic cowardice and submission to barbarity.”
So I stood up and published a book of the illustrated life of Mohammed. I can{t make it from the Amazon jungle in Peru to go to the meeting, nor can I draw. But I did publish a book of Motoons. I had to turn the title around to get it past the censors. See the link to judge for yourself. You can vote for free speech but ordering a copy of the book. “It’s time to stand up.”
http://www.amazon.com/Snootom-D-W-Walker/dp/0987761587/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1427136006&sr=1-1&keywords=snootom
gravenimage says
Are you going to update your book with the cartoons from this show for your second edition, Dag?
Dag says
Hi, Gravenimage,
My next book is directly Mohammed cartoons, i.e. Motoons. This volume, as you know, is Snootom, Motoons spelled backward to confuse the censors. This volume is an illustrated life of Demmahom. I used found images for the most part to show the life of my villian. In the next volume I will be using Motoons specifically. The cover is no surprise: I’m using Derek Devereaux’s Mohammed. Bosch Fawsin and you are in it as well. I might, if people leave their names, put the new cartoons in the next book. I would need permission here for that. I don’t know if Robert has plans to do a book of the Motoons he now has from you all. I have a thousand or so from the beginings of all this in 2005-2006 and beyond. No shortage, but if I can, yes, I will include these new ones.
Till then, if you want to “do something” it’s one concrete move just ordering my book. http://www.amazon.com/Snootom-D-W-Walker/dp/0987761587
Thanks to Always on Watch for the review at amazon.com.
gravenimage says
Yes, Dag—Derek Devereaux’s painting is pretty devastating:

If we could do a runoff I’d go MAD SUGAR>Fawstin.
I vote Bosch Fawstin
Frederick Farias says
I vote for the cartoon by Bosch Fawstin. It is very very direct.
LeeZee says
MUHAMMAD with snakes oozing out of him. Tells it all. Not very cartoonish, but brilliantly rendered!
Dee says
The best ones should show the truth.
Champ says
Wow they are ALL great!! …yeah it was hard to decide.
And my husband and I looked at each cartoon together, and hubby likes …
1) “Head Juggler”
And I really like …
2) “Truth Destroying muhammad” because I believe in the power of Truth!
Neil Jennison says
Yes, they are all great in their own way…..some more subtle than others. But the one that appeals to me most is the mighty pencil of the truth being shoved up Mohammed’s lying backside until he starts chewing the other end.
Champ says
Indeed, Neil! ..yes, the precious Truth is mightier than the sword! 🙂
kersti says
I think Bosch Fawstins drawing is to the point.
Frederick Farias says
I vote for “You Can’t Draw Me!…That’s Why I Draw You.” by Bosch Fawstin. It is very, to the point and direct.
james hazan says
please be careful, there are mad Mullahs about

The Winner will get $2,500 Less Jizra !! 🙁
yohanan says
Of the ten selected on Geller’s blog, I vote for the simple cartoon of the pencil of truth impaling the cult warlord M.
Sergio says
I like the one that says: “I’ve been made victorious with terror”. It summarizes all of the Islamic traditions and beliefs.
Christine says
This cartoon will wake people up! It wins in my book
dumbledoresarmy says
That’s my pick, also.
john simpson says
In response to your correspondent who wondered why we would choose to “offend” moslems, and asked how we would like it if a similar campaign were waged against Christ, I reply as follows:
We’ve already had many “art” exhibits mocking Christ (ie “Christ in Urine.) Did we like them? Of course not. Did we run around beheading people? Of course not. And why not? Because we’re civilized and moslems aren’t. It’s as simple as that.
I’m perfectly happy to “gratuitously” insult these disgusting people, who are determined to propel civilization headlong back into the 7th century, and shall continue to do so.
Richard says
you are so ignorant and fool
ayatollahowmany says
The comment of a truly IGNORANT FOOL
Babs says
I’d like very much to vote, but neither your nor the Breitbart page gives me the opportunity. How do I vote, please?
gravenimage says
Babs, you just express your opinion in a post. Say, my favorite is:_________________.
John says
My vote is for the juggling heads
Blue Thomas says
I would like to know how many entries there were and if we can see them. It’s hard to pick from these.
Dan says
I’d like to see them all too, for the People’s Choice award.
There are some missing entries.
gravenimage says
Guys, these are the finalists picked for the People’s Choice Awards.
Jack Zeller says
jeffry harris with ‘head juggler’
ECAW says
Congratulations to everyone involved. I wish I could be there.
“Juggling heads” and “Victorious with terror”.
Tim says
There seem to be a few missing. Three people I know emailed their cartoons. They are not listed.
gravenimage says
Tim, these are the finalists picked for the People’s Choice Awards, not all 350+ entries.
cs says
I voted on the minaret with spermatozoon inoculating the world with the hatred and derangement of the jihad rage boy. The minaret (phallus with the face of Muhammad) is the one sending this ideological hatred, that is his contribution, the world looks beautiful, but has been bombarded with this incredible amount of hatred and derangement.
Stendec says
I vote for the Pencil of Truth impaling “The Prophet of Islam.”
Always On Watch says
It’s often difficult to get Motoons past the censors in published books. Obama’s meme of “Don’t insult Islam!” has taken hold in venues which were open just a two years ago.
D.W. Walker, however, found a way to get by slumbering censors with Snootom. There is a reader review at the link for those who are interested in learning moe.
If the day comes that we lovers of freedom cannot display Motoons in a public forum (Yes, the web is a public forum and may be reined in), Mr. Walker’s technique might do the trick. For a while, anyway.
gravenimage says
Always on Watch, I read your review of Dag’s book on Amazon. I’ll be picking it up soon.
Lesley says
I
I vote for Bosch!!!!
JeffS says
Old Muhammad with the Qu’ran head chopper.
dumbledoresarmy says
That would be my second choice, I think. (I’m also going on the basis of artistic quality.)
The bloodstained world map and “I have been made victorious with terror” is educational; the Quran as axe to chop off someone’s head, is also brilliant, and is beautifully drawn, not a wasted line (or word).
KenW says
All have a truth to them. Trouble is which evil do you choose to show. So many to choose from!!
Tony says
I vote for Bosch Fawstin’s cartoon.
rcourtemanche says
The blood tainted world map.
ninetyninepct says
These can’t possibly be pictures of some guy named Muhammad. For one thing, nobody has any idea what he looked like, even if he did exist. if so, I suspect he was a lot uglier than anybody could imagine.
We know Jesus died by being crucified. Did mohamed die from AIDS or syphilis? Just asking.
Trini Eiche says
I vote for Bosch Fawstin’s cartoon.
maureen thompson says
My vote goes to Bosch Fawstin.
B. Korman says
The Head Juggler, by a mile! —BK
ConnectingDots says
I vote for the “You can’t draw me!” cartoon by Bosch Fawstin.
The Doctor says
Bosch Fawstin’s is my favourite. Very well drawn and a very simple but clear message.
Neil Jennison says
It is a very powerful and subtle cartoon for certain…….it just lacks a bit of gratuitous humour for me. Then, maybe that is for the best?
Fiona says
You can’t draw me ! by Bosch Fawstin gets my vote.
FarmerMike says
I’d like to change my vote from the unicycle cartoon [which is still very good], to the “You can’t draw me!” “That’s why I draw you” cartoon.
Mary Ann says
Bosch Fawstin has my vote “You can’t…”
Solange says
Interesting, with drawings like these you put out a call against violence.
Neil Jennison says
Why should drawings cause violence? People have different opinions…..that is fine ……I am not forcing you to agree with me.
Or is it that you know Islam is particularly evil in that it responds to criticism with violence? And that fact, makes it incompatible with western freedom and democracy?
Which is precisely why we need these cartoons…..to defend freedom and show that Islam does the exact reverse.
Darren says
Don’t blame the victim for the violence blame those engaging in the violence. There is nothing wrong with drawing a cartoon, we live in a free society.
nothosaur says
I vote for Snake-bearded Muhammad.
Dan says
You can’t draw me ! by Bosch Fawstin gets my vote.
st. patrick says
Tough call..Gotta go with Bosch..Still waiting for yours graven..
gravenimage says
Hi, St. Patrick. I did enter seven pieces, but my work is not in the running for the People’s Choice Award. There is some great work here, though–I agree, especially Bosch Fawstin’s.
I’m glad to see such an outpouring of talent.
Mirren10 says
” I did enter seven pieces, but my work is not in the running for the People’s Choice Award.”
That’s a damn shame, graven.
I hope you’ll be putting your pieces on your photobucket site, I’d *love* to see them, as I’m sure others would, also.
Well, since I can’t vote for one of yours, I’m going to go for the Bosch Fawstin one, and if there’s a second prize, I like the bloodstained world map as well.
gravenimage says
Hi Mirren. I’m hoping we’ll get to see a lot of the entries here eventually.
And I agree that besides’ Bosch’s work that the blood-stained map with Muhammed’s long shadow is very good. It’s so small that it does not show well here, but it is really quite brilliant.
Civilus Defendus says
Bosch Fawstin
“You can’t draw me!”
“That’s why I draw you.”
🙂
Bob Rush says
I vote for the Juggler!
E. Dillon says
You can,t draw me gets my vote. But free speech has to always be defended.
George says
I vote for mo-ham-ed being pierced with a pencil. Title of the print should be ”Sh*t on a stick”.
r. keith says
MAD SUGAR (snakes)
Roberta May says
Bosch Fawstin gets my vote.
shelley meyers says
So far my vote is for the one with snakes coming out below his head. Reminds me of Medusa!
Sunny Lohmann says
Love this contest. I vote for Bosch Fawstin!
Gil P. says
Bosch fawstin always gets my vote !
Barry Sommer says
This is a toughie. It came down to a choice between the ejaculating jihadists or the unicycle riding, head juggling smiling Muhammad. After careful deliberations within the confines of my own mind, I choose the unicycle riding Muhammad. There is something very disturbing about a smiling Muhammad as a clown (very apt) juggling the heads of his recent kaffir victims. No slight to Bosch but that smile just chills me to the bone.
Jules says
I like Jihadi Appleseed, if that one’s in the contest.
K. Williams says
My vote for is for Bosch Fawstin, for a great cartoon with a clear message.
Laurie says
“You can’t draw me!, That’s why I draw you” is the best.
Michael Randall says
I vote for Bosch Fawstin’s “you can’t draw me!”
RonaldB says
I vote for the evil Muhammad with the naked female.
It’s style is impressionist, but it is far less symbolic than most of the other entries. It shows a Muhammad exhibiting naked power and dominance over a naked female captive. It’s an image that stays with you, and yet fully in the traditions and sharia laws of Islam. While the other cartoons require some knowledge of Islam to fully appreciate, this one delivers a punch with no background needed.
I agree with the other comments that all of the cartoons are superb, and don’t give you much wriggle room to choose from among them. I should mention that with Bosch Fawstin, I vote with my feet, and buy his comics as soon as they come out.
gravenimage says
I’ve already voted, but I just want to say how much I appreciate all of these entries.
The excellently done photoshopped Muhammed with snakes, which sums up his vicious character; the Muhammed impaled Vlad-style on a pencil—this piece perhaps lacks some of the professional polish of the others, but it is a very witty idea; the grim clown-like Muhammed juggling heads, captioned with the laughable “religion of peace”; Bosch’s brilliant cartoon; the beautifully done and wildly imaginative minaret infecting the world like diseased sperm; the neat little cartoon with Muhammed beheading a victim with the Qur’an; the powerful painting of Muhammed terrorizing a nude sex slave; and the subtle but beautifully rendered silhouette of Muhammed looming over a bloodstained map of the world.
All excellent entries.
I’ll be excited to see some of the rest—very exciting response as evidenced by these pieces.
Jean says
I vote for Bosch Fawstin’s “You Can’t Draw Me!”
Debbie says
I vote for Bosch Fawstin’s “You can’t draw me”
Douglas Edwards says
Bosch Fawstin, please.
Morag Henderson says
It has to be the image of Muhammed juggling heads, on a presumably squeaky-wheeled unicycle.
I’d call it Circus of Death
